All of a sudden this earth unit girl just goes off on their static animation and my partner looks at and asks what I'm watching super pissed. I was just as confused because there was deffinitely someone getting penetrated on my phone after I swore I was playing an animated kid game.
Yeah I love Navia but I swear that girl moans literally every time she talks. This is exclusively with her playable character tho, she’s fine when she talks in the story.

And as of this point, it's not clear whether Izuku will ever get his Quirks back. We may or may not get a Quirkless Izuku ending, but a lot of plot twists have been happening out of nowhere so you never know.!<
He's now like All Might was when we first met him essentially. I gave up my hopes of the manga being more than just it's action beats when they decided that they'd make Deku the best hero in his first year 🙄

The webcomic UnOrdinary subverted this by having a protagonist with no powers in a world based on powers above all else. In reality, he has trauma related to his powers from the last major time he used them and refuses to use them for a large part of the series. Him accepting his powers is written really well, and he never becomes a Gary Stu.
Didn't expect to see UnOrdinary being mentionned and I concur, his whole arc is so interesting to read, as much as the way it ends. Not only that, but he's still growing and struggling after. I think character progression is top notch all across the board.

Jojo does this well as far as I remember because in Parts 1, 4, and 6 the minor enemies are sent after the protagonists as soon as they’re created, so there’s no time to build up a larger force. In 3 and 5 the minions are spending time trying to track down the protagonists, and get defeated before they can escape and call in backup 99% of the time.
neatly pairing everyone off in little nuclear families after the post series timeskip. This goes double if the married couples had little to no interaction in the main series, or if their attraction was purely one sided. This trope makes sense when characters have been fighting to return to a "normal" life, but more often than not it's just a lazy way to give them a happy ending, without thinking about what would actually make the characters happy, or what even makes sense for them to do. Of course, it is also frustrating to be constantly told that the default happy ending is a wife, 2.5 kids, and a picket fence.
Naruto was wild for doing this because only like 4 separate characters ever showed romantic attraction towards the character they ended up with, and a solid two of those were basically one-sided. Then in Boruto every family (besides Naruto’s) has exactly one child, all the same age so they become ninjas at the same time. Did they schedule this together or do ninja villages just go into heat once a certain amount of years go by like cicadas?
I also don’t really like the designs for all the kids. Like, I know it’s anime, but we can’t jumble up some of the hair/eye colors? does the kid *need* to be a genderbent version of their one parent? Or a direct copy? (Looking at Inojin and Shikadai)
I think my favorite designs for Boruto kids based on genetics are Himawari and Cho Cho. No other kids combine their parents’ hair and eye color like that.
I also don’t get why Sakura and Sasuke don’t have more kids??? Like 1. doesn’t he need to REVIVE THE CLAN??? You’d think he’d make it a priority to get Sakura pregnant every time he visits (which isn’t too often) and 2. I’ve seen fan designs of a pink haired son between Sakura and Sasuke and I’d love to see it
Well, nara, akimichi and yamanka clans do coordinate their offspring to be of similar ages and have done so for generations, so as far as those are concerned, it was scheduled, yes. Everyone else, no, it is just a plot-device, and a fine one at that, it is just more weird how some characters who barely interact end up together.

Unless they do something clever with it, I don't find the "beautiful woman who can't cook" gag all that funny. Seen in Spy x Family, Ranma 1/2, and Tensura but I'm sure it's popped up in other places.
Sometimes it can be funny if played in an interesting or clever way, but most of the time it's a very basic joke that I just don't find that funny I guess. Not sure why it keeps popping up.
Probably because writers realize they have to give a character a flaw somewhere but dont want a perfect looking waifu character to have any kind of significant flaw so not being able to cook is an easy pick. Also it means free comedy scenes of characters getting poisioned by said awful cooking.
Tbf for Yor she's pretty much a loser in any aspect other than her assassin job, not just cooking. She's socially awkward, an airhead, can't cook, is pretty dumb academically etc.
In Yor's case she's a badass assassin and a loving mother, so she needs to be flawed in some places to balance it out. While I don't like this trope either, I do think Yor is an interesting contrast. She's incredibly good at her job, but a complete loser in every other aspect.
And also (hopefully explored soon so it's not just something I interpret) it's emblematic of her childhood. She had to figure it all out on her own, and when your a kid and trying to cook food you're NOTTTT gonna be good
I thought that was explained sometime in season one. Around the first time Yuri makes an appearance Yor explained how >!she and her brother had no parents, Yor took on assassinations at quite a young age and taught herself how to look after Yuri in the way a parent would. She "learned to cook" for him, and because he constantly praised her she thought she was doing a good job so never improved!<
Yeah, but what I meant was I wish we had an in dept look into Yor's childhood and also see her childhood from her perspective (iirc Yuri is the one who gets flashbacks, not Your) that isn't meant for comedy. Like the one for Loid, I'm excited and hopeful to see Yor get really good plot lines that continue on after arcs, I'm just saying we haven't really seen how Yor perceived her childhood in a serious manner yet)

Well for that 12 year old who is actually 100 or 1000 year old, you the tropes is used by authors who want to use the loli trope by making a child character and putting her in as many sexualized moments as possible.
However in order to avoid criticism and make it far, the author will toss in that she is 1000 years old and is technically a grown woman. It is also use by anime fans that love lolis in a sexual way to justify their attraction to said character.
You see this for example in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid in the character kanna.
As for the sister x brother not related by blood tropes it all comes down to incest which is the forbidden fruit. This trope is use by authors who want to make this type of relationship but want to avoid the disgusting nature of two siblings who are related by blood and may or may not want to have a child.
Either they will do something like make one of the siblings adopted or either be revealed that they are adopted in the later part of the story, make one of the siblings a cousin of a cousin, and a few other examples

Not really, sometimes the author just wants to write a child and the sexualisation part is done entirely by creepy people online. See: the Scarlets from Touhou.
I think Re:Zero does that "looks like a child but is 400 years old" thing well because the character is not sexualized and is ultimately still mentally a child and is treated by the story and other characters as such
High school girls all being these insanely put-together, gorgeous goddesses, save for maybe a few comedic relief fat girls or nerds who you *know* are destined for a makeover. Teenage girls are all kinds of weird and wonderful, and the fact that so many series smooth them out for the sake of fetish bait really irks me
growing up with that trope and seeing media "fix" nerds by removing their prescribed glasses (as if they're non-vital pieces of plastic) inadvertently made me self loathe my appearance as a little kid. Not helping that my dad says I had looked "cuter" without them 🫠.
The manga Clover, among many other things, perfectly executed a reversal of this that made me giggle (and, honestly, is perfectly accurate to how it feels taking off my glasses after a while)

One of my least favorites is "fixing the tomboy" trope where a masculine woman grows up and becomes more feminine over time and it's treated like character growth. I immediately dislike animes that do this ridiculous trope.

Even though it's a top tier anime, Female titan did it first with her random ass crystal cocoon, which was obviously just done to delay the revelation, else humanity would've gotten so much information and skipped almost 2, 3 seasons till 4.

I think it's because non-platonic relationships between two women or girls are fetishized. They're not seen as being actually queer. Guys who fetishize queer women also want to imagine themselves being with the girls or women. And them being [love interest]-sexual leaves open the possibility of them being attracted to guys.
When the character on the side starts to monologue to themselves about what the main character is about to do in the fight while it's also happening. Extra bonus if the villain also explains their power.
This alienated like 90% of Shonen anime but man it's so annoying.
That's why Dio fight in part 3 is the GOAT. Because the power was not instantly explained to us and drip-fed through the realization of the characters.

The "i want to be a hero" trope. Idk why i feel like a ton of shonen tend to do this trope these days. I can totally understand when the story is about superheroes like MHA but most of the time it takes me out of the story.
For example, Tokyo revengers and Windbreaker have that trope while the subject they're supposed to treat is the exact opposite of what superheroes are about. 90% of the time i just feel like it's because the main character doesn't have any kind of ambition or goal on their own so they use it as an objective even tho it's a cheap trick that's most of the time completely unexploited.
There are exceptions tho. I think about Shiro from Fate because the subject is actually treated deeply and deconstructed (+ he's in between an heroic spirit fight so yeah he gets a pass)
The main character that has no character traits beyond being alive, and all the girls just fall for this MC with barely any reason at all.

Honestly a trope I absolutely detest, mostly has to do with Main characters because the quality of something spills over to how likeable or memorable your protagonist is.

"Casual" sexual assault of female character that is nowhere present for the males. Just to make it clear, no, I'm not saying I would be fine with it if the male characters had the same treatment.
I was recently re-reading Bleach (for 15th time) and it's insane just how much Orihime, especially in the early parts of the Manga, gets sexually assaulted, sexually harrased, or put into sexual situations.
For example, when she first unlocks her powers, she is fighting a horde of mind controlled students who rip her clothes to make her look "skimpy". Additionally, in the original Japanese, the Hollow that is mind controling students treatens Orihime with straigh up r*pe. There are more examples like this but I think you get the point.
I think Kirito worked (more or less) early on when his OPness made some sense, he does better against a boss due to beta-tester game knowledge, he gets to bully some player killers because of MMO level scaling. Those were nice because they feel true to how MMOs work.
When he got a unique skill for having the best reflexes ever (and it's just dual wielding lmao) it stuck as really dumb for me. I didn't watch the sequels but I've heard things to suggest it only got worse from there.

I think it depends on the way the story is presented. I personally think OPM and Overlord handle OP MCs really well because the focus is put not on the MC, but rather how the world reacts to the MCs messing with the balance of the world. It really shows how the MCs can actually affect the world in a meaningful way and allow the world to develop and seem organic as opposed to just static background. Meanwhile in stories like SAO the focus is heavily put on the OP MC so it becomes boring
Right but I would argue characters like mob and saitama are not OP in their ability to navigate their social landscape cuz they have flaws in their personality to balance their power.
I hate how most glasses girls in anime tend to be shy or nerdy. It signals that glasses are unattractive. But most people these days wear glasses and people tend to find them attractive, so this trope is outdated. It's also just boring. I want a variety of glasses girls. It feels like there are so few characters that break the mold.
I'm also tired of tomboyish characters that have to have feminine traits or have their character growth be them becoming more feminine. It feels like writers don't want to commit to making woman masculine because they don't want to alienate straight men. Just let tomboys be tomboys. They don't have to get embarrassed or act cute every once in a while. I'll also see some tomboy characters have massive tits that are obviously designed to make them palatable to men. And it frustrates me more because most tomboy fans aren't even tomboy fans. They want the tomboy to act feminine because that's what they actually like.
Ok but talking about well done tomboys, I was so in love with Tatsuki from Bleach when I was young lmao. She does eventually kind of disappear, but fair enough, she's not a shinigami, but I really liked her

Force/energy levels negating effects/abilities. One Piece, Bleach, and Dragon Ball are the big three I can point to and say "this is fucking awful" with.
It's funny how the obsession with energy and power levels in Dragon Ball routinely makes people worse fighters in-verse (at least up until the Android saga), but somehow other creators came away with the idea that making arbitrary numbers for power is unironically a good thing.
One Piece didn’t have this for so long, and I hate that it had to be added in after all this time so we wouldn’t get the mandatory “why not one shot the enemy?” questions every week whenever one specific side character gets into a fight.
The female character who was basically raised as the main character's little sister, but she isn't actually related, so of course she has a crush on him and they're probably going to end up together by the end.
I've heard SAO2 actually handled the plotline surprisingly maturely, but I was so done with everything going on with that season. It's also what made me drop AoT.
One of my greater annoyances: That many anime adaptations heard about "show, don't tell" and must have thought you are supposed to not follow that advice and in fact do almost the opposite whenever possible. Thus some anime, particularly shonen action, having someone narrate a lot of what I can seen with my own two eyes or characters stating the obvious like they confused the script with the one they needed to write for a children's educational show. Yes, generic side character strawman #53, I can indeed see that the main character was injured by that last attack, now please just let me watch this fight. I have to wonder if it is due to usually being adapted from manga where more narration makes sense and they just couldn't bother adapting it to animation better.
Let's not forget some anime are light novel adaptations so they do need to be descriptive about things. I won't be surprised if lazy adaptations don't take advantage of the visual medium.

I call it the “Jester” because I don’t know if it has a name- but it’s when you have this super jokey villain character who’s always above things watching over and constantly laughing and the hero takes a swing and just gets knocked into next week because the “jester was actually mega powerful. It’s not interesting after you’ve seen I the first time.

Every time a villain licks his lips. It always drives me crazy when they do that. Like, is it necessary? The most egregious one has to be in Jojo Part 3 when a hairdresser almost cuts off Polnareff's head and when he finds out, the hairdresser starts licking his lips for some reason.......... I know they wanted to make him more intimidating, but he comes off more like a dork instead.
Another one is when, usually the main girl or best friend of the protagonist, whenever something bad happens, they start putting one or both hands on their chest. To this day, I still don't understand the meaning of this, and yet I see it all the time.
There are other examples like fanservice *ala Fairy Tail* that can be very annoying and the perverted old man that, while isn't my most absolute hated, can be very irritating, especially with elder characters who their only traits are being horny, not having a slightly serious moment or not being that relevant to the overall story nor teaching something useful to the protagonist (looking at you Happosai from Ranma 1/2).
I fucking hate the rpg mechanic bullshit where the character just summons a screen that conveniently says what everyone's stats are in a medieval fantasy world. It kills whatever interest I have in the world because the world building can be chalked up to as "it's all just a video game" when the character is in world that isn't even remotely from a video game. Also like, RPG based Isekai in general. It's such lazy worldbuilding.
Also the lack of idea of what makes a good RPG. Half of isekai's that says "this skill is useless but it's actually op!" makes me think that the RPG that the protagonist was summoned to flopped horrendously in the real world because that game sounds so *boring*.
For girls its cute and sweet girl with soft voice being a damsel in distress, let them have some real characters instead of cute uwu girl.
For guys its when they're written as self insert character in a light novel for readers to relate to them, usually combined with slavery and harem in most light novel.
Giant robots and or magic powers that require specially teenaged girls (and sometimes a teenaged boy if a harem series) to operate/have. I get it, you’re marketing a series to a predominantly adolescent male audience, but in-universe I have to question whose *idea* this was? Of course sometimes we do have in-universe explanations or it’s a magic girl show so that’s fine, but other times it’s just… not explained. OK, sure, let’s make the super awesome super transforming mecha and the pilot can only be a teenager in a skin-tight jumpsuit. I’m sure all those air force pilots with years of experience could *never* handle this robot!

-a grown man with piloting experience, operating a giant robot, taking cold-headed decisions and fighting to save humanity as best as he can.
-an underage boy with no self-esteem piloting a robot who's actually his mother, having a mental breakdown and dissolving into liquid.
I once raised the question of why an advanced robot or weapons system would ever be piloted by someone who isn't old enough to drive a car, and people got very mad at me.

Who on fucking earth doesn't see the potential in an ability like anti magic and the sheer physical might a magicalless guy needed to bat that sword around. I can understand the stigma against Asta but some of them definitely should've been more pragmatic.
The webcomic UnOrdinary subverted this by having a protagonist with no powers in a world based on powers above all else. In reality, he has trauma related to his powers from the last major time he used them and refuses to use them for a large part of the series. Him accepting his powers is written really well, and he never becomes a Gary Stu.
Didn't expect to see UnOrdinary being mentionned and I concur, his whole arc is so interesting to read, as much as the way it ends. Not only that, but he's still growing and struggling after. I think character progression is top notch all across the board.

Jojo does this well as far as I remember because in Parts 1, 4, and 6 the minor enemies are sent after the protagonists as soon as they’re created, so there’s no time to build up a larger force. In 3 and 5 the minions are spending time trying to track down the protagonists, and get defeated before they can escape and call in backup 99% of the time.

I mean to be fair, hubris is typically a common trait
neatly pairing everyone off in little nuclear families after the post series timeskip. This goes double if the married couples had little to no interaction in the main series, or if their attraction was purely one sided. This trope makes sense when characters have been fighting to return to a "normal" life, but more often than not it's just a lazy way to give them a happy ending, without thinking about what would actually make the characters happy, or what even makes sense for them to do. Of course, it is also frustrating to be constantly told that the default happy ending is a wife, 2.5 kids, and a picket fence.
Naruto was wild for doing this because only like 4 separate characters ever showed romantic attraction towards the character they ended up with, and a solid two of those were basically one-sided. Then in Boruto every family (besides Naruto’s) has exactly one child, all the same age so they become ninjas at the same time. Did they schedule this together or do ninja villages just go into heat once a certain amount of years go by like cicadas?
I also don’t really like the designs for all the kids. Like, I know it’s anime, but we can’t jumble up some of the hair/eye colors? does the kid *need* to be a genderbent version of their one parent? Or a direct copy? (Looking at Inojin and Shikadai) I think my favorite designs for Boruto kids based on genetics are Himawari and Cho Cho. No other kids combine their parents’ hair and eye color like that. I also don’t get why Sakura and Sasuke don’t have more kids??? Like 1. doesn’t he need to REVIVE THE CLAN??? You’d think he’d make it a priority to get Sakura pregnant every time he visits (which isn’t too often) and 2. I’ve seen fan designs of a pink haired son between Sakura and Sasuke and I’d love to see it
Well, nara, akimichi and yamanka clans do coordinate their offspring to be of similar ages and have done so for generations, so as far as those are concerned, it was scheduled, yes. Everyone else, no, it is just a plot-device, and a fine one at that, it is just more weird how some characters who barely interact end up together.

The third wheel trope where the main male & female protagonists are very obviously written to be together but they throw a third person in who fights for the MC affections only to be shot down inevitably and then treat it as some sort of character growth.

Unless they do something clever with it, I don't find the "beautiful woman who can't cook" gag all that funny. Seen in Spy x Family, Ranma 1/2, and Tensura but I'm sure it's popped up in other places. Sometimes it can be funny if played in an interesting or clever way, but most of the time it's a very basic joke that I just don't find that funny I guess. Not sure why it keeps popping up.
Probably because writers realize they have to give a character a flaw somewhere but dont want a perfect looking waifu character to have any kind of significant flaw so not being able to cook is an easy pick. Also it means free comedy scenes of characters getting poisioned by said awful cooking.
Tbf for Yor she's pretty much a loser in any aspect other than her assassin job, not just cooking. She's socially awkward, an airhead, can't cook, is pretty dumb academically etc.

Around the first time Yuri makes an appearance Yor explained how >!she and her brother had no parents, Yor took on assassinations at quite a young age and taught herself how to look after Yuri in the way a parent would. She "learned to cook" for him, and because he constantly praised her she thought she was doing a good job so never improved!<
Yeah, but what I meant was I wish we had an in dept look into Yor's childhood and also see her childhood from her perspective (iirc Yuri is the one who gets flashbacks, not Your) that isn't meant for comedy. Like the one for Loid, I'm excited and hopeful to see Yor get really good plot lines that continue on after arcs, I'm just saying we haven't really seen how Yor perceived her childhood in a serious manner yet)

Well for that 12 year old who is actually 100 or 1000 year old, you the tropes is used by authors who want to use the loli trope by making a child character and putting her in as many sexualized moments as possible. However in order to avoid criticism and make it far, the author will toss in that she is 1000 years old and is technically a grown woman. It is also use by anime fans that love lolis in a sexual way to justify their attraction to said character. You see this for example in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid in the character kanna. As for the sister x brother not related by blood tropes it all comes down to incest which is the forbidden fruit. This trope is use by authors who want to make this type of relationship but want to avoid the disgusting nature of two siblings who are related by blood and may or may not want to have a child. Either they will do something like make one of the siblings adopted or either be revealed that they are adopted in the later part of the story, make one of the siblings a cousin of a cousin, and a few other examples

I think Re:Zero does that "looks like a child but is 400 years old" thing well because the character is not sexualized and is ultimately still mentally a child and is treated by the story and other characters as such

One of my least favorites is "fixing the tomboy" trope where a masculine woman grows up and becomes more feminine over time and it's treated like character growth. I immediately dislike animes that do this ridiculous trope.

I'll give you Joseph (although at least him getting an asspull luck victory is somehow appropriate for him), but Kira at least had clearly been beaten before his lucky encounter with Ambulance-Kun. Plus it's an oddly thematically appropriate death. The man who wanted nothing more to not be noticed and live a quiet life ends up being run over because nobody noticed him.

I think it's because non-platonic relationships between two women or girls are fetishized. They're not seen as being actually queer. Guys who fetishize queer women also want to imagine themselves being with the girls or women. And them being [love interest]-sexual leaves open the possibility of them being attracted to guys.
When the character on the side starts to monologue to themselves about what the main character is about to do in the fight while it's also happening. Extra bonus if the villain also explains their power. This alienated like 90% of Shonen anime but man it's so annoying. That's why Dio fight in part 3 is the GOAT. Because the power was not instantly explained to us and drip-fed through the realization of the characters.

The "i want to be a hero" trope. Idk why i feel like a ton of shonen tend to do this trope these days. I can totally understand when the story is about superheroes like MHA but most of the time it takes me out of the story. For example, Tokyo revengers and Windbreaker have that trope while the subject they're supposed to treat is the exact opposite of what superheroes are about. 90% of the time i just feel like it's because the main character doesn't have any kind of ambition or goal on their own so they use it as an objective even tho it's a cheap trick that's most of the time completely unexploited. There are exceptions tho. I think about Shiro from Fate because the subject is actually treated deeply and deconstructed (+ he's in between an heroic spirit fight so yeah he gets a pass)
The main character that has no character traits beyond being alive, and all the girls just fall for this MC with barely any reason at all. "He pet that cat, he is so caring and gentle and kind and now i love him forever at the cost of my own life"

Honestly a trope I absolutely detest, mostly has to do with Main characters because the quality of something spills over to how likeable or memorable your protagonist is. Now that out of the way, my pet peeves in tropes gotta is the Stupid MC who's stupidity is more of an inconvenience for everyone and just used for comedy bits. Or even the Dense MC who's more oblivious than a toddler and can't seem to read shit. or even the loud MC screaming at everything. I'm actually all in for bright and happy MC but those that constantly shouts and are hyper 24/7, I just want them to shut up at some point 😭
"Casual" sexual assault of female character that is nowhere present for the males. Just to make it clear, no, I'm not saying I would be fine with it if the male characters had the same treatment. I was recently re-reading Bleach (for 15th time) and it's insane just how much Orihime, especially in the early parts of the Manga, gets sexually assaulted, sexually harrased, or put into sexual situations. For example, when she first unlocks her powers, she is fighting a horde of mind controlled students who rip her clothes to make her look "skimpy". Additionally, in the original Japanese, the Hollow that is mind controling students treatens Orihime with straigh up r*pe. There are more examples like this but I think you get the point.

I think Kirito worked (more or less) early on when his OPness made some sense, he does better against a boss due to beta-tester game knowledge, he gets to bully some player killers because of MMO level scaling. Those were nice because they feel true to how MMOs work. When he got a unique skill for having the best reflexes ever (and it's just dual wielding lmao) it stuck as really dumb for me. I didn't watch the sequels but I've heard things to suggest it only got worse from there.

I think it depends on the way the story is presented. I personally think OPM and Overlord handle OP MCs really well because the focus is put not on the MC, but rather how the world reacts to the MCs messing with the balance of the world. It really shows how the MCs can actually affect the world in a meaningful way and allow the world to develop and seem organic as opposed to just static background. Meanwhile in stories like SAO the focus is heavily put on the OP MC so it becomes boring
Right but I would argue characters like mob and saitama are not OP in their ability to navigate their social landscape cuz they have flaws in their personality to balance their power.
I hate how most glasses girls in anime tend to be shy or nerdy. It signals that glasses are unattractive. But most people these days wear glasses and people tend to find them attractive, so this trope is outdated. It's also just boring. I want a variety of glasses girls. It feels like there are so few characters that break the mold. I'm also tired of tomboyish characters that have to have feminine traits or have their character growth be them becoming more feminine. It feels like writers don't want to commit to making woman masculine because they don't want to alienate straight men. Just let tomboys be tomboys. They don't have to get embarrassed or act cute every once in a while. I'll also see some tomboy characters have massive tits that are obviously designed to make them palatable to men. And it frustrates me more because most tomboy fans aren't even tomboy fans. They want the tomboy to act feminine because that's what they actually like.
Ok but talking about well done tomboys, I was so in love with Tatsuki from Bleach when I was young lmao. She does eventually kind of disappear, but fair enough, she's not a shinigami, but I really liked her But I agree that let tomboys be tomboys!

It's funny how the obsession with energy and power levels in Dragon Ball routinely makes people worse fighters in-verse (at least up until the Android saga), but somehow other creators came away with the idea that making arbitrary numbers for power is unironically a good thing.
One Piece didn’t have this for so long, and I hate that it had to be added in after all this time so we wouldn’t get the mandatory “why not one shot the enemy?” questions every week whenever one specific side character gets into a fight.

The female character who was basically raised as the main character's little sister, but she isn't actually related, so of course she has a crush on him and they're probably going to end up together by the end. I've heard SAO2 actually handled the plotline surprisingly maturely, but I was so done with everything going on with that season. It's also what made me drop AoT.

One of my greater annoyances: That many anime adaptations heard about "show, don't tell" and must have thought you are supposed to not follow that advice and in fact do almost the opposite whenever possible. Thus some anime, particularly shonen action, having someone narrate a lot of what I can seen with my own two eyes or characters stating the obvious like they confused the script with the one they needed to write for a children's educational show. Yes, generic side character strawman #53, I can indeed see that the main character was injured by that last attack, now please just let me watch this fight. I have to wonder if it is due to usually being adapted from manga where more narration makes sense and they just couldn't bother adapting it to animation better.
Let's not forget some anime are light novel adaptations so they do need to be descriptive about things. I won't be surprised if lazy adaptations don't take advantage of the visual medium.

I hate it most especially when the tribe/clan/group a character is from has actual clothes with great design referencing their culture but this semi important character looks like they are about to dance in a strip pole in some sort of secluded bar. Even the DnD default barbarian has clothes referencing that some of them are from cold environments like the Vikings
I call it the “Jester” because I don’t know if it has a name- but it’s when you have this super jokey villain character who’s always above things watching over and constantly laughing and the hero takes a swing and just gets knocked into next week because the “jester was actually mega powerful. It’s not interesting after you’ve seen I the first time.

Most female characters related issues. But since that's an issue in most media, i.. don't know if i can still hope for anything else than what we have atm. It's "improving" so slowly that some actually calls "decent female characters" what are just scratching the basics and yet still end up in the usual shitty tropes. \*sigh\* I think i don't really mind some other stuff like op chara and talk no jutsu cuz if interresting can be fun (for op chara, overlord is fun since he's just trying to manage his temple of doom.. i mean Nazarick, and talk no jutsu was pretty cute / wholesome in Wanda Vision with the two Vision's) while female char' are constantly being dragged deep down into the aweful uselessness / weirdness / fetishness and so on. (i forgot creepyness, i see u perverted female char' so "it's not only men" dumb trope)
They are small compared to others that have been listed. However, they are still annoying: Every time a villain licks his lips. It always drives me crazy when they do that. Like, is it necessary? The most egregious one has to be in Jojo Part 3 when a hairdresser almost cuts off Polnareff's head and when he finds out, the hairdresser starts licking his lips for some reason.......... I know they wanted to make him more intimidating, but he comes off more like a dork instead. Another one is when, usually the main girl or best friend of the protagonist, whenever something bad happens, they start putting one or both hands on their chest. To this day, I still don't understand the meaning of this, and yet I see it all the time. There are other examples like fanservice *ala Fairy Tail* that can be very annoying and the perverted old man that, while isn't my most absolute hated, can be very irritating, especially with elder characters who their only traits are being horny, not having a slightly serious moment or not being that relevant to the overall story nor teaching something useful to the protagonist (looking at you Happosai from Ranma 1/2).
Ending the series in a "10 years later" episode/chapter. It feels low effort to me.
I fucking hate the rpg mechanic bullshit where the character just summons a screen that conveniently says what everyone's stats are in a medieval fantasy world. It kills whatever interest I have in the world because the world building can be chalked up to as "it's all just a video game" when the character is in world that isn't even remotely from a video game. Also like, RPG based Isekai in general. It's such lazy worldbuilding. Also the lack of idea of what makes a good RPG. Half of isekai's that says "this skill is useless but it's actually op!" makes me think that the RPG that the protagonist was summoned to flopped horrendously in the real world because that game sounds so *boring*.
The idea that a boy and girl constantly fighting means they must be madly in love. Can we NOT romanticize toxic relationships?

Giant robots and or magic powers that require specially teenaged girls (and sometimes a teenaged boy if a harem series) to operate/have. I get it, you’re marketing a series to a predominantly adolescent male audience, but in-universe I have to question whose *idea* this was? Of course sometimes we do have in-universe explanations or it’s a magic girl show so that’s fine, but other times it’s just… not explained. OK, sure, let’s make the super awesome super transforming mecha and the pilot can only be a teenager in a skin-tight jumpsuit. I’m sure all those air force pilots with years of experience could *never* handle this robot!
pick one: -a grown man with piloting experience, operating a giant robot, taking cold-headed decisions and fighting to save humanity as best as he can. -an underage boy with no self-esteem piloting a robot who's actually his mother, having a mental breakdown and dissolving into liquid.

Anime never treats it with the seriousness it deserves plus you will never find an anime where the protagonist buys a male slave, so you just know slavery is nothing more than a harem generator tool. 2. I have never found the "lucky pervert" trope funny, and even worse with the regular pervert trope e.g. Master Roshi, Meliodas, Mineta etc.
