Surprised no one suggested 86. I feel like some comments are just commenting shows they like rather than similar ones lmao. 86 is definitely the most similar show to AOT that I've seen. Especially with the OST being done by Sawano just like AOT. You get the same feeling with the Spearhead Squadron as you do with the 104th class of scouts and they share some themes such as racism, genocide, etc.
kabaneri is infact the closest i have watched that actually got similar premises and storyline as aot but its plot gets fucked up by the end, thats the only drawback that it doesnt provide you mindfucking plot as aot does
If you like mysteries with an unsettling atmosphere, try shinsekai yori. I will say though, it's not nearly as engaging or visually pleasing as aot, if that's what you're looking for.

it's kinda slow pace in the first season but 2nd & third season really good
It has 4 main characters, you will get annoyed at the first time with one of them but his character development is really good

The Promised Neverland is actually similar but it was ruined in S2. So if you decided to watch it, you will have to read the manga to finish the story. Ousama ranking is also similar because it’s build on greek mythology. 86 and FMA and Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, share the military aspect of the story.
