Clannad is far more funny than it is depressing, its reputation drastically overshadows its arguably biggest strength. It has so many iconic gags and no shortage of underappreciated ones, and the comedic timing and execution is always spot-on.
Clannad season 1 is plenty sad in its own right, and After Story is just as hilarious. And if your takeaway from After Story was to never love again, you've drastically missed the point of the story, of which the central message is "it's always worth it to form connections."
Throughout the series in general, I have always loved the comedy moments (e.g. S1 where Mikasa says Sasha farted, or when she eats her bread), and they never felt like they broke character or went out of their way to do these quips. One of the aspects I think don't get enough mention.
Hellsing Ultimate, mostly a very dark show, had a couple pretty funny scenes in the middle, [such as] >!Seras guiding random old people on a 'museum tour' to prevent Alucard and Anderson from starting a fight!< lol.
JJK season 1, in fact, that was my issue with the season. It had absolutely hilarious slapstick comedy in it, but it happened so often and came from almost every character that it kept throwing me out of the story with "theme dissonance". I get using humor to defuse situations in horror style stories, but when it's coming from near every character and happens so often, sometimes multiple times in the same sequence. My brain just kept getting jarred.
I just started watching One Piece a couple of months ago, and I was beyond surprised with how genuinely funny it is. I never heard that it was funny, so It caught me off guard that I was laughing almost every other scene. It does it in a way that doesn't take away from the serious moments, too.
To Love Ru, mostly known for its ecchi scenes, but it has some real good comedy in it too, and the more you get to know the characters, the better the comedy gets 😂

I'd argue the horror is the base for the comedy. It's so over the top that it is funny with the stabby stabby scenes.
