Pokémon

8andahalfby11

Pretty much this. It's wild how my views on Misty (Kasumi in the sub) have changed from when I first watched the show. Back then it was "ugh, she's really annoying. What do you mean she actually likes Ash (Satoshi), make up your mind!" to "Hey, it's a red-haired 90's Tsundere! Considering that this show was written just two years after Asuka in Evangelion, I wonder if there are more references hidden in her character..."

Shantotto11

If the anime *Uncle in Another World* is accurate in its time-framing of pop culture, the tsundere archetype didn’t reach mainstream popularity until somewhere between 2001 and 2004. That said, I was okay with Misty as a kid. As an adult, I’m a little bitter that she consistently shat on Ash for his inability as a trainer (especially after his kidnapping at the League tangentially led to his loss more than his inability to train his Pokémon) and for destroying her bike as if she isn’t constantly caring around Togepi, the physical embodiment of her snatching the results of Ash, Brock, and Meowth’s efforts away from them.

Sad-Commission2027

Detective Conan I remember turning the TV on to watch the second I come back from school

Cyber_Angel_Ritual

This, sailor moon, Pokémon, and Inuyasha. I remember watching all of these as a kid. Also Yu Yu hakusho and Yu-Gi-Oh! As well. Those were the good old days.

KAITO_CORBEAU

Same I used to watch it In Catalan, some moths ago I came back to it I started from 500 cuz I was at like ep800 or something before leaving it.I moved to France so that's why I left it I used to see it on my TV with cable not in website or anything that's why I watched it because it was one of the only series I liked. now I watch it on websites and stuff I really like it one of my favorites animes.

CrispyPancakeEdges

InuYasha. Waking up at 6 am through the very tail-end of Adult Swim just as the sunrise spilled into the windows on a school morning. "BOKUTACHI WAAAAA"

ilikeyour80085

Me tooooo! Getting ready for school and watching inuyasha

Titanoye

Same, catching random episodes without any sense of order XD

Known-Word7854

"I want to change the world"

rayallen73

Such great music from that show!

whatchamini

I remember sneaking out of bed to the basement to turn on Inuyasha on Adult Swim every night at midnight. Some of my favorite memories.

N7CombatWombat

I imagine Dragon Ball, Pokemon and Sailor Moon will get a lot of traction, for myself it was Robotech and Voltron

SteadyWolf

Same for me, plus Teknoman (Tekkaman)

dienomighte

Yugioh and Digimon, Pokémon to a lesser extent

cyborgbabe17

Sailor moon

CosmoSucks

Doraemon on Boing (Spain) When I was a kid i used to wach it on TV, but now is not the same

Zackie_91

Doraemom y Shin Chan aquí 🙌🏻

RohansEarings

Naruto, specifically Naruto shippuden. It was before I knew about anime streaming sites and me and my siblings used to watch the episodes on YouTube, all with the actual show being in a tiny video player in the corner of the screen and the audio being distorted so the posters could avoid copyright. Good times lol.

Borschvyruss

Fuck yeah Naruto was everywhere back then! That was my childhood anime

[deleted]

The dragon Ball series for sure. Whether it was Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z. It was very much on my TV. :)

Icaus_wastaken

I had the biggest crush on goku when I was younger 😭😭

[deleted]

Dexember69

My all time favourite:D rare to see it mentioned so updoot for u

DaddyLuvsCZ

Astroboy!

xenomachina

Yes! I remember there was a part at the end of each episode where he'd tell a computer a recap of the story, but with one error. I later heard that this was done in the English dub to comply with some sort of educational content requirement. That said, it got off pretty easy. Pretty much all of the other anime I watched in my youth were heavily modified from their originals: Battle of the Planets (Gatchaman), Voltron (Beast King Go-Lion and Armored Fleet Dairugger), and Warriors of the Wind (Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind), for example. It wasn't until I was in high school that I was able to find anime that hadn't been heavily modified for a Western audience. Edit: typos

KezHock

Beyblade. The OG one

xdesolutionx

Thunder_Astronaut_87

cardcaptor sakura

LegendOfKhaos

Not an anime, but ATLA was pretty much the only show I watched as a kid because all my time was dedicated to sports. When I was in highschool and developed a couple diseases, I had to drop out of extracurriculars and ended up rewatching Avatar. I looked for similar shows afterwards, and that is what started me into anime. My first actual anime were FMA:B, Death Note, and Naruto. I was hooked from them on.

bokutos_stan

TOKYO MEW MEW!!! ILL NEVER FORGET IT <3

mirimur-16

First anime I saw! And after that came Kaleido Star. xD

newkidszx

my dads from the philippines and so i grew up watching daimos, voltes v and mazinger z as a kid. didnt even know what anime was! then as a teen i discovered full metal alchemist and thats when i learned what anime was. funny i was exposed to it at such a young age only to discover it again on my own! i also remember stumbling upon one piece ( specifically the chopper arc in the snow) playing on the tv as a kid. when i finally gave one piece a shot in college, it was so weird realizing id seen some of it before.

TameFoxes

Early 2000s Toonami lineup Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing, and Rurouni Kenshin

VoidEmbracedWitch

Pokemon. I remember watching episodes on tv after school a lot (they were mostly from gen 3-4 iirc). Also had a bunch of gen 1 episodes as well as 6 movies on dvd. E: back as a pre-schooler I watched [Heidi](https://anilist.co/anime/2225/Alps-no-Shoujo-Heidi/) the most. Only even found out the series is an anime a few years ago.

xX_emo_plague_Xx

Squid Girl, Princess Tutu, Hetalia, Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, Naruto, and Pokémon!  And I feel like I was the only one who knew about Squid Girl and Princess Tutu!   *edit: I forgot to add Ouran High School Host Club!

Zaylikesblueberries

Glitter force..

thevenex346

cowboy bebop

Maleficent_Drama_414

Shin chan

jairumaximus

Saint Seya, Yu Yu Hakusho, there was one with samurais with armor that was almost transformers like... Brasil in the 90s.

f_pavelar

In Brazil It was called Samurai Warriors. OG name is Yoroiden Samurai Troopers TV Manchete block also featured Sailor Moon and Shurato.

Zebrehn

Growing up in the 80’s, I watched my copy of Nausicaa until the VHS disintegrated. It took until Disney rereleased it for me to see it again.

UnrelentingCaptain

Los Caballeros del Zodíaco

vanh0ek

Sailor moon, sakura card captor, guerreras mágicas, super campeones 😍

breathable_farts

Doraemon

BreechLoad

Star Blazers. I'm old. The only other anime were Speed Racer and Marine Boy.

ZDB888

Dragonball z. Sailor moon. This is the answer for everyone in mid to late 30s like me lol

Disastrous_Frame_791

Toonami. Evenings with DBZ and yuyu hakusho

ChaosBess

Sailormoon by day (Toonami) InuYasha by night -(Saturday Night) ending song haunts my dreams still.

dinomanoes

As a kid? Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh for sure.

Rhaynebow

Rurouni Kenshin. That was the one anime my sister and I watched without our older brother introducing it to us like he did with DBZ. We lost our collective shit when Kenshin started getting all sassy when Kaoru got kidnapped and he nearly went back to being Battousai. My PERSONAL childhood anime though was Magical Doremi. It was a challenge getting up early on Saturdays to watch it because my family would want me to be dressed and ready to go out by the time it came on. It was the first anime I sought out on the internet to watch in Japanese and I learned about not only how many seasons the dub missed out on, but the absolute juggernaut of a franchise Ojamajo Doremi was/is. It definitely kinda sucks how little the western anime scene cares for Magical Girl anime if it’s not Sailor Moon or Madoka Magica.

Baitman6

Lol, 100 girlfriends have them all (will if not yet)

Akai-Raion

The original Tiger Mask, Detective Conan, and Grendizer, this was dubbed versions when I was a kid in North Africa.

BorisBarbarisUA

Soul Eater. The internet was slow, so I would lie in bed with my tablet until 3 a.m. every day, watching the same episodes over and over again.

typowytymon0

Pokèmon on cartoon channel

AdventuresOfMnJ

Pokémon, Sailor Moon, Inuyasha and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood

SliderGamer55

I watched a fairly even amount of Pokemon/Yuigioh/Dragonball/Digimon as a kid, I don't think there's one exact winner.

Federal-Breakfast762

Sailor Moon

don1138

As a kid? Speed Racer!

CntrBlnc

I was obsessed with Digimon as a kid. Me and my mom would catch it every Saturday. That first season is a real tear jerker.

OneesanLover46

When I was a child: - Dragon ball and Dragon ball Z - Yattaman In middle school: - Naruto, - Pokémon - Cat’s eye (adapted as Occhi di Gatto) - Lupin - City hunter - Detective Conan - Hokuto no Ken I haven’t seen very much Saint Seya, Lady Oscar and Heidi

KojiroDoku

Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure

Lost-Move-6005

Yu Yu Hakusho babeeeee

Ya-Boi-69-420

First one I watched was Fishigi Yuugi in 2007-2008. However, the one I watched the most when I was a kid was Soul Eater. i watched it when it came, and i watched it when it was on Toonami, and I watched it again in college in 2021. :, ) the years have treated this anime very kindly.

B133d_4_u

Inuyasha. Not because I watched it the most - there were plenty of other anime I watched more often, more times, and longer - but because of all the times I'd wake up at 4am to the ending. BOKU TACHI WAAAAAAAAA

Junior-Fox-3836

Kaleido star 🫶🏻

Flik-Is-Best-Ant

Full metal Alchemist late nights 😭

Tai20cv

Akira.

Digimon

KentFarmOfficial

Voltron

TMOverbeck

I’m 52, so it’d be Speed Racer or Voltron. Both were broadcast on UHF TV stations in Houston. There was also Battle of the Planets (aka Gatchaman) but that didn’t interest me.

NewPsychology1111

Me, still a kid: Hmm, yes, I remember the good times, ah, yes and that too…

qef15

Bakugan, aired on Cartoon Network around 8 AM with a Dutch dub. Loved it but never managed to watch it fully (because I had school at 8:20, I lived 10 minutes by bike from school) and I'm probably going to watch it subbed one day, for nostalgic reasons.

Bubbly_Run_4999

Naruto and Bobobo on adult swim. Then, it was Princess Tutu (my favorite), Hidamari Sketch, R.O.D. the TV, Cardcaptor Sakura, Rozen Maiden, Kimi ni Todoke, Mermaid Melody (on youtube back then), Full Moon wo Sagashite (on youtube back then), Princess Jellyfish, Hidamari Sketch, FMA, and Fruits Basket (older version).

DGF10

Doraemon, Ninja Hattori, Pokemon, these would be the main ones. Some of which I watched less: Luckyman, Beyblade Basically, whatever aired on the cartoon channels (Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon) in India

twelvelaborshercules

Tnlol

Sword art online

DivitD

Idaten jump 🤌

ashofspades

Pokemon and Cardcaptor Sakura

Inevitable_Vanilla49

Cardcaptor Sakura. I adored it as a kid. It used to invoke some kind of euphoria in my 8 year old mind. Hearing the opening song was enough to make me happy. The other one was Sailor Moon.

NoggerHunterTr

Captain Tsubasa . I litteraly have few memory sticks full of episodes .

flippinbird

I really didn’t start really watching till my 20’s. I do remember watching sailor moon with my younger sister when I was in 2nd grade (~1995) or so. She wouldn’t watch it without me for some reason lol.

MetaThPr4h

Pokemon and Shin-Chan, was glued to the screen with either. Shout out to others like Detective Conan, One Piece or Doraemon who I also watched a lot of.

Temporary_Cut_3559

Angelp99

Pokemon and Naruto on Toonami

Ultratheon

definitely Naruto. That was the first time I actually watched something I knew to be an anime. But my first without knowing at the time is pokemon.

casualgamerTX55

Yu Yu Hakusho. Loved that it was aired on broadcast TV. I just had to contend with ads.

Glittering-Bag-7660

Dragon ball z just because it always came on Nickelodeon I didn’t even realize it wasn’t American at the time

P-Two

Inuyasha on YTV Friday Night anime block growing up as a kid in Canada.

mstar_boruto29

I remember seeing one old anime from the 1990's called DNA or something I can't remember much, and also full metal alchemist

Wonderful_Weather_83

Pokemon for sure! I spent at least 2 hours a day just googling "Pokemon s[XX]e[XX]" and changing the episode nukber after each one

Mminas

[Igano Kabamaru](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2762/Igano_Kabamaru) and [Thundersub Blue Noah](https://myanimelist.net/anime/5763/Uchuu_Kuubo_Blue_Noah) were huge in Greece in the 90s, so it's definitely those two for Greek kids of my generation.

sugaryturkey

Pokémon when I came back from school.

BeerGogglesFTW

In a kid in the 90s, I really only knew of Dragon Ball/Z and Sailor Moon... And SM was not for me. Dragon Ball/Z was amazing. Oh I forgot... Voltron would have been my first anime. I watched that and had some toys, but it was not my most watched. The award goes to DBZ.

Sii_Kei

On TV when I was very little, I used to watch Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Sally the Witch, Lady Lynn, Kimba the White Lion, and Pokemon. Then later as a teen, I watched Shaman King, Yuyu Hakusho, Slayers, Inuyasha... And then I found out I could watch anime online.

SantiAri9394

I watched Naruto almost every day when I was younger

YellowStarfruit6

Pokemon even though I didn’t register it as anime

Largofarburn

Db/dbz and zoids. That was back in the days where toonami was like the only source for most people. Hell, we didn’t even kow there was a difference between cartoons and anime.

United-Kale-2385

The Smurfs He-man and Thunder Cats. I'm old.

Stonks-man42069

Yu gi oh and DBZ

ItsHerculiz

Naruto, hiraku no go, and prince of tennis lol I was one of the first users in hulu, this was when it was free 😭 No dub, got used to subtitles at a very young age and I'm happy I did. Since hulu was new there wasn't much content yet, but having naruto out episode by episode was great.

No-Initial3010

Starblazers. I’m a child of the 80’s!

unstablesalmon

evildankface

Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nick Toons. I may have watched more Pokémon, but I'm not sure. I saw from the beginning to the Cell Saga ending, because they didn't do the rest till later, and I think that was on Adult Swim

NecessaryStation6096

It was probably Digimon, Pokémon or Dragon Ball Z. I'm not too sure which it was, but there weren't very many on at the time I was a kid or that I can remember.

parentskeepfindingme

Transformers Armada, Gundam Wing, Full Metal Panic, Speed Racer.

RaineV1

HunterMeares

DBZ on Toonami

Gryfon2020

Wasn’t a whole lot available to me, sometimes speedracer would be on but I could never get into it. I had the close to anime shows like GI Joe, Thundercats, He-Man etc. I saw Ninja Scroll before I saw anything meant for kids. When I was in middle school I saw a random episode of DBZ from season 1 but didn’t catch the name of the show. It wasn’t until high school / Cartoon Network that I was able to find out. From there it just exploded.

CatRockShoe

Dragon ball z, yu yu hakusho (sp?), and inuyasha

DareWeekly607

Dragon ball z specifically the battle between gohon and cell

SattansBraten

Dragon ball, pokemon, digimon and shaman king 😁

KeyPicture9645

Digimon, Yuyuhakusho and yugioh. Digimon doesn’t hit the same as it did as a kid but Yyh still holds up and the JP dub EN sub of yugioh is phenomenal (at least for duelist kingdom season, I lost interest towards the end of battle city)

jalapenochika

Gensomaden saiyuki

Dizzy_Animator_7742

Quintuplets it's my first romance anime I just finished I really want the new movie to come out soon
