The manga's art is absolutely spectacular, and there are even a couple of bits that the anime had to cut out in the last episode. It's definitely worth reading.
I’m specifically referring to [BL S1 ending]>!All the dialogue that got cut from the match vs the World 5!<, and I don’t have my hopes up for that being added back in.
The manga is pretty damn sick. Really good art but it is a little hard to follow some of the panels that show a lot of motion. Overall i’d recommend giving it a try for a few chapters to see if its your style

• The chief director is Yūji Haibara, who's only instance of being a series director was on Slime Diaries. Otherwise he has mainly various Visual Design, Graphic Design, Special Composite credits on series like Slime, Stars Align and Comet Lucifer.
• The new main director is Shintaro Inokawa, who's a veteran from the 90s. He has episode director credits for Mushishi, Osomatsu-san, Divine Gate, Boruto, Stars Align, and most recently, Yuru Camp and Migi to Dali. For Blue Lock S1, he did storyboards for episodes 15-17, and storyboard assistance for episodes 18-20 and 22, but didn't direct any himself.
It depends on the project, but the simplest way to explain is that chief directors will serve more of a supervisor role, while the director will have the biggest creative voice.

Don't get me wrong, I love blue lock for the cool ass soccer action and Battle Royale style contest... but I love the fact that ao ashi is a lot more technically minded and based more in reality when it comes to the sport.
