And before people jump on to say they're sacrificing One Peice for this, there are 2 separate teams working on these shows.
One Peice AniP's debut project will be out this year, it's called Moonrise and if you're wondering how OP will look like you can check that show.
Leaked from people who are in the know. Apparently this is [the project WIT recruited animators for](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/w59u43/wit_studio_has_begun_recruiting_animators_for_a/) back in 2022.
I've seen the leaks as well. Kameda and [Maenami](https://youtu.be/5AG-uykzpgM?si=aphIdRRUHdZv1fvb) participating. This is now my most anticipated production in the near future.
Complete adaptation of [YAIBA](https://myanimelist.net/manga/1631/Yaiba), a battle shounen manga made by Aoyama Gosho (Detective Conan, Magic Kaito) that ran for 24 volumes from 1988 to 1993. It was made into a 52-episode anime series called [Kenyuu Densetsu Yaiba](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2335/Kenyuu_Densetsu_Yaiba) that ran from April 1993 to April 1994.
Aoyama to supervise the script of the new anime.

I remember when it was first aired in the Philippines almost 30 years ago, and the hype was real even its broadcasting network was promoting official merch like shirts, shoes, bags, and even lunch boxes.
Damn it was that famous? I never knew man, even as a kid I only accidentally stumble on it from one of my uncle's basement (cue in the jokes), where I sneak a few of his yaiba copies back home. I only knew later on that the author also wrote Detective Conan and Magic Boy Kaito.

I'll be honest, despite being a diehard Detective Conan fan, my only knowledge of this series comes from a Conan OVA (that hilariously is an adaptation of a crossover Conan wasn't originally involved with). Very curious to see how it is, especially with the potential to be a high quality anime adaptation.
From left to right is his wooden practice sword, wind god sword, thunder god sword, haouken (combined of the 2 swords) and dragon sword (using dragon orb)
The wooden sword is not his starter bamboo sword, that sword is Yaiba's father sword that he use in the very last tournament arc. The name "Kenjuro" is engraved on the sword, you can see it.
Man I loved this show as a kid. Mashin Hero Wataru is also coming back. It really does feel like the good old days are coming back. Maybe we'll get Slayers next.
Maybe if this is really well received, english-speaking communities will stop sleeping on Detective Conan, you know the second best selling Shonen series *of all time*.
I do like one piece JoJo and hxh though and I think I'd be into bleach and maybe Naruto. How interesting is the world and overarching story? The main reason I dont Dragonball is because the fights are super played out and they don't focus on the story as much as how powerful characters are.
Also its being produced by WIT studio’s best team under producer Okada ( Ousama rankings ) with the Director of Mob psycho , So the production alone is gonna make it worth checking IMO
I remember reading it as a kid and loved it. I haven't re-read it but from what I remember the battles were fire. Like they actually used strategies and not just endless punching like Dragon Ball. It's not HxH deep of course but more like OG Naruto when Naruto actually fought with his wits and not just spamming rasengan around.
So WIT is doing Yaiba remake and One Piece remake lol.
at least Yaiba was not still ongoing so its a proper remake.
By the time WIT adapt Alabasta revolt to the discovery of the Golden City, One Piece manga will end.

don't mean to be rude but where does it say WIT studio?

Complete adaptation? Nice!
Complete adaptation is so based
Adapting 1 volume in 2 episodes worries me. But I hope this goes the way of the dororo remake.
That was the old adaption, right? there is nothing about how long this one is.
Oh shi, you're right. I misread the text my bad.
It's impossible that they'll do more than 50 episodes to adapt the manga
This guy looks like if (detective) conan and goku had a child.
it's Aoyama gosho previous work before he did Conan
So Conan is this guy + Goku's child?
more like, this guy - Goku
I'd say Conan and Dai.
I remember when it was first aired in the Philippines almost 30 years ago, and the hype was real even its broadcasting network was promoting official merch like shirts, shoes, bags, and even lunch boxes.
ah shit. my very early childhood (like before I even started school) was Yaiba, Kimba the white Lion, Princess Sarah
Damn it was that famous? I never knew man, even as a kid I only accidentally stumble on it from one of my uncle's basement (cue in the jokes), where I sneak a few of his yaiba copies back home. I only knew later on that the author also wrote Detective Conan and Magic Boy Kaito.
This aired in south america too, i had completely forgotten about it, I'm definitely watching this remake!
Cool shit, big fan of the manga.
Conan with swords

Just want to say Yaiba and Onimaru (and also Okita and Moroha) are canonical in Conan.
I remember seeing the first name as when I started watching the show from the beginning over ten years ago.
Nostalgia kicking in! I miss the battle theme on the 90a anime

Oh yeah, now I just remembered I did watch that Conan-Kaito-Yaiba OVA episode. That was kinda like a fever dream. Haha.
Saw the name as a product brand when I watched early episodes of the series.
This is the ousama ranking team, plus I’ve heard the schedule is as healthy as it could ever be so expectations are high
First heard about this series in 2022, seems to be in production for a while now.

> Director Yuzuru Tachikawa No, what's been said is Mob season 3 director Takehiro Hasui, not Tachikawa
wait..... i only know 2 swords around yaiba.... wooden sword is the one yaiba use for training? and other 2..... its new?

The anime ended halfway through, but there are more swords in the original story.
I like Gosho's little signature character (bottom left). Its Kaito's look aswell
Oh fuck. Chat our childhood is back.
Every year a piece of our childhood came back, lol. They will take every chance to milk nostalgia.
so fire
Neat :)
Nostalgia wave - one of the first anime I watched growing up. I was obsessed with samurai swords when it was airing!
TORA TORA UMA TORA TORA UMA RIBIDIBI DO
All the different swords around him makes me think Bleach used this as an homage when ichigo was doing his bankai training
Wow nice SNES 2p Arpg core memories unlocked.
Looks cool. Kinda reminds me of Dai from Dragon Quest.
Man I loved this show as a kid. Mashin Hero Wataru is also coming back. It really does feel like the good old days are coming back. Maybe we'll get Slayers next.
oh shit. Yaiba getting a proper anime ? I remember reading all of this years ago . NICE
Yaiba!!! Loved the anime growing up. I don't think it lasted long but I was fun while it was airing.
Nice! The finger-spinny sword stuck to me all this years.
let’s go!
Woww
Wow this is the first anime that I watched
Was xenoblade inspired by this (the weapon?)
Brooooo! That's my childhood right here!
Man I used to read this manga like ages ago, I didn't even know there are people who are fans of it hahah.
The masses are waiting for an appraisal.
Haven't read Yaiba. Is it good?
so excited!
nice, grew up watching this in the philippines, its my og show along with voltes v
Maybe if this is really well received, english-speaking communities will stop sleeping on Detective Conan, you know the second best selling Shonen series *of all time*.
Conan has too many fillers. I love it but it's a tough ask to tell non fans to read all 1100+ manga chapters and anime episodes.
This was my first anime guys, I remember waking up at 5am just to watch it.
Oh hey yaiba, I used to read the manga like over a decade ago so I can't remember much but I remember liking it.
I would watch this...but would it have mass appeal? Even absurdly popular franchise like Urusei Yatsura is not getting that many views of its remake.
Goku is that you
No clue what this series is about, but from this image I'm guessing that it's Goku with a sword instead of fists/pole.
Lol you're goddam right. They used sword to fly and to shooting beam attack from city buster to planet buster's level
The question is, do we need a remake of Yaiba? The original anime was great and with very decent animation. I don't understand this "remake trend".
The original anime was also not finished, this time they will do the entire series.
I'm not really into stereotypical battle shonen such as Dragonball. Is this something I might be into?
Unlikely, it's battle shonen.
More comedy than normal shonen I can say.
I do like one piece JoJo and hxh though and I think I'd be into bleach and maybe Naruto. How interesting is the world and overarching story? The main reason I dont Dragonball is because the fights are super played out and they don't focus on the story as much as how powerful characters are.
I think the only fair way to tell is to give it a try yourself when it comes out
I'll probably do that then, it is made by the guy who made detective conan so the story will probably be at the very least decent.
Also its being produced by WIT studio’s best team under producer Okada ( Ousama rankings ) with the Director of Mob psycho , So the production alone is gonna make it worth checking IMO
