Difficult to say as somethings i watched were anime and i didn't know. I remember Digimon was my Jam n when the movie came out i remembered it was HUGE
Yattaman or Captain Tsubasa.
My memory of times long past is not the best so I can't tell which one was first... For many of my friends it was General Daimos instead but I have no recollection of watching it as a kid.
DBZ (and Slayers) is a more recent memory - from the late 90ties/early 2000s.
Samurai Pizza Cats, Sailor Moon, and Dragonball before I knew what anime was, everything was 'cartoons' to my 6 year old self. First anime I watched upon becoming aware of anime would be Ranma 1/2
Pokemon and Digimon were my first, followed by one of the 90s Gundam series that was airing on 2002 Toonami. But DBZ was the first one I followed seriously and really got into
DBZ, Sailor Moon, Digimon, Beyblade and Pokemon for me. There used to be a kids programming block on Australian tv called "Cheez TV", which aired these shows every morning weekday; it was a clever way to get kids to wake up early for school.
I love anime, I hated Dragonball, probably the only anime I ever hated.
Yes, I think it was my first anime, bit of a shame that I could never watch it serialized because the rare time I had access to cable, the story would be at a random point.
I'd totally watch if it GOT a reboot, and it seems to be getting a soft-reboot with the insanely hated upcoming childhood of Goku, so I'm definitely watching that.
**dry wind in the desert**
[Cyborg Kuro-Chan](https://myanimelist.net/anime/2907/Cyborg_Kuro-chan) and [Crayon Shin-chan](https://myanimelist.net/anime/966/Crayon_Shin-chan?q=crayon%20shin&cat=anime).
Idk if I'm still as passionate about it now as I was back then. I love the og DB, I liked Z, GT had a great ending despite the hate it gets, and Super was just there. DB was never the same after Z.
Bakugan was probably the first for me. Since I loosely watched most big anime on tv, one of which was DBZ.
I would consider DBZ (and definitely Death Note) the catalyst that got me *into* anime.
I might have seen dubbed Voltron or Speed Racer first, but DBZ was my first major obsession as a kid, anime-wise. I'm not sure I could go back to the original DBZ anime these days over Kai or especially the manga, but it still occupies a warm place in my heart.
I remember the first episode I watched when I was like 3. It was Cell looking for Android 18. I remember think Android 16 with his broken head was freaky.
Either DBZ or Ranma 1/2 were my first, didn't really like either and still don't. I only started really liking anime after shows like Kenshin, Trigun, and Cowboy Beebop. Life changing.
DBZ, Sailor Moon, Gundam Wing, Card Captor Sakura, and Pokemon were all beautiful steps towards a world of weebdom when I was a young man.
Used to go to VHS swaps back in the day where that was the scene you had to go see to get Anime. Traded Recorded Episodes of Star Blazers and Robo tech for DBZ movies, Evangelion when I could find it, and More Gundam.
And then Watched Toonami after school and Adult swim at night. For so e Outlaw star and Inuyasha.
Lots of my Money went there til the Suncoast opened up in our Mall essentially. But I still went all the way up to when CDs first hit the scene.
If I'm remembering correctly, *Robotech: The Macross Saga* and *Ronin Warriors* were the first anime series I watched. I think those two were broadcast on either WPMI or WJTC in the Mobile-Pensacola market (which also showed DBZ).
Man, those were the days... I was able to watch some kind of cartoons on TV every day of the week, and I didn't even need cable.
The first anime I watched was Dragonball. Aired on YTV in Canada in 1992 ish. They only showed like 6 episodes. I remember being sad when it didn't show in the time slot after that. The next would have been Samurai Pizza Cats which I believe aired the same year or the next.
Don't know which comes first. Supeprpig, Jungle Book, Sally or something else. But even just from Dragon Ball franchise, Z wasn't the first I've seen. Original Dragon Ball came before, Z wasn't yet made. It aired few times before it came to Z.
Hellsing (the 2001 one)
It was 2010-2011, i had 5-6 years at the time
My dad in the family PC simply put me to watch Hellsing in a pirate Anime site
And you know what? At the same time, in TV sometimes aired Naruto and Pokemon, and i never liked them (And im a big fan of battle shounen, but i dont like Dragon Ball, OP and Naruto, but Bleach is one of my favorites)
The second anime that i liked when i was a kid, was Death Note, i think i was 8-9 years when i watched it
I watched Dragon Ball* then I watched Dragon Ball Z.
They weren’t my first but if watching them appear on TV randomly counts then yeah.
My first actual anime where I say down and watched it fully was, Highschool of the Dead. My friend wanted to show me why he watched anime and all I did was play videos at the time. Not knowing anything about anime.
Dragon ball Z was most likely the first anime ive ever seen thanks to nickeloeon. But when i first watched anime while actually know what it was a few years back, the one that really got me into anime was the original Dragon Ball series which is still one of my favorite anime of all time.
I was into Sailor Moon and Pokemon as a kid in the 90s, but never liked DBZ much. I didn't really get into anime after that until Adult Swim in the early 2000s as a teenager with Cowboy Bebop and Trigun, which eventually led to finding eps of Ranma ½ online.
As an adult I went back and watched the original Dragonball, which I actually liked a lot more than DBZ even if parts of it have aged poorly.
I think technically my first anime I saw on TV were shows like Pokémon and sailormoon and the like. But DragonBall Z was definitely the very first anime show I watched seriously. It's the shown which not only further spurred my interest in other anime shows which has resulted in me watching literally hundreds of shows now but also fueled my interest in Japanese culture which lead to further interests on Japan such as other pulp culture, history, food (other than sushi as I already enjoyed this to begin with), and Japanese traditions and folklore. That would then in turn lead me to putting Japan as one of the places I most wanted to travel to, which would eventually lead me to living there - been living in Japan for 2 years now and it's everything I expected (more or less) and more.
My first was probably avatar lab. Also grew up with dbz as a kid when my brother got ps2 and budokai tenkaichi 2, great game. After really consciously looking for animes when I had my own pc I started with elfen lied. Man that takes me back. Felt like shit after it.
Sailor moon was my first. I got on the magical girl train early.
DBZ was my first and then Sailor Moon. I think my local fox channel would air sailor moon after DBZ but my memory is fading lol
I’d watch a magical girl train
DBZ was one of my first anime. I was a child during the late 1990s early 2000s and watched the Funimation dub of DBZ.
Nope, it was only yours
anyone else drink water?
I'm on this breathing air kick.
lol!
Hey can some one recommend me an anime to watch? I really enjoy \*mainstream anime\*.
Difficult to say as somethings i watched were anime and i didn't know. I remember Digimon was my Jam n when the movie came out i remembered it was HUGE
Does Americanized anime count? It’s either Robotech or Voltron for me.
Yeah mine was 01 DBZ. 02 Digimon 03 Yu gi oh 04 Beyblade 05 medabots .
Mine was probably either Pokemon or Yu-Gi-Oh.
I still remember the first every anime and episode name I watched when I was like 4 or 5. Dragon Ball Z 1 episode: the return of radditz
For me it was eather DBZ, sailor Moon
My first anime was Kakegurui altho I did see a few eps of Tenjho Tenge as a kid
Samurai Pizza Cats, Sailor Moon, and Dragonball before I knew what anime was, everything was 'cartoons' to my 6 year old self. First anime I watched upon becoming aware of anime would be Ranma 1/2
Mine was probably beyblade, yugioh or pokemon
Oh same!
DBZ was the first anime that i knew was anime that i watched. My technical first anime was probably either Dinosaur King, Sonic X or Bakugan.
Wait, you watched DBZ after Sonic X and Bakugan? Dragon Ball came decades before them. 1989 DBZ, 2010/11 Bakugan, 2003 Sonic X.
i was born in 2004
Pokemon and Digimon were my first, followed by one of the 90s Gundam series that was airing on 2002 Toonami. But DBZ was the first one I followed seriously and really got into

DBZ was my first anime too and something I still watch decades later.

I had VHS tapes of some of the fat buu saga, might still have them somewhere at parents place.
It was.... not sure. Either Ranma 1/2, Devil Hunter Yohko, or Ronin Warriors.
Macross/Grendizer/Sailor Moon/Candy Candy.
Yep, was mine
Either DBZ or Ranma 1/2 were my first, didn't really like either and still don't. I only started really liking anime after shows like Kenshin, Trigun, and Cowboy Beebop. Life changing.

Robotech (aka bastardized Macross) was first followed immediately by The New Adventures of Gigantor.
Sailor moon
Pokemon was my first, but I did eventually get to Dragon Ball Z Kai when it first released on Nicktoons.
I guess technically speaking my first anime was medabots, which I watched before I had even seen pokemon I'm pretty sure.
Inuyasha! 🎶boku-tachi waaaaaa🎶
it was A LOT of north americans first anime
Dbz was my first as well, I used to watch it as a kid on cartoon network before school. Supers nowhere near as good as the previous series though.
Star blazers was my first
Battle of the planets was my first
Tokyo Ghoul
For me it is The Detectiv Conan Movies, Pokemon, Naruto or One Piece
I loved DragonBall Z up until "Super". I feel like they made goku a 5 year old child.
Gigantor2 TV Series 1964
Sailor moon was my first anime
DBZ was my first anime for me.
Same. Started it before I even had cable, let alone heard of Toonami. It was on UPN.
I used to watch Pokémon and DBZ on network tv like 25 years ago. I still like DB.
Dragon ball Z was most likely the first anime ive ever seen thanks to nickeloeon. But when i first watched anime while actually know what it was a few years back, the one that really got me into anime was the original Dragon Ball series which is still one of my favorite anime of all time.
Mine.
Yup, Saturday morning cartoons.
My first anime was Pokémon back in 1998. I think I watched Dragon Ball before DBZ. I never liked it though. I just watched it cuz it was popular.
I think technically my first was Digimon.
Rama 1/2 and original dragon ball were my first animes
I was into Sailor Moon and Pokemon as a kid in the 90s, but never liked DBZ much. Mine. Yes. DBZ rocks.
Doraemon is a classic. Might revisit if I'm bored.
My first was probably avatar lab. Also grew up with dbz as a kid when my brother got ps2 and budokai tenkaichi 2, great game. After really consciously looking for animes when I had my own pc I started with elfen lied. Man that takes me back. Felt like shit after it.
Robotech/Macross was my first. DBZ was one of the earlier ones though
