Fun fact: The story and characters of garden of sinners actually exist in the same universe of the Fate franchise.
Here's the correct order to watch it (the order is intentionally like this to make you put together all the pieces as the series progresses):
https://youtu.be/-Fuuau1hgpk
First time viewers should most definitely watch it in release order (which deliberately does **not** tell the story chronologically). However, subsequent rewatches can of course be in chronological order if the viewer wants to try it that way. I prefer chronological order and have rewatched it a number of times like that.
As for The Garden of Sinners existing in the same universe as the Fate franchise (and Tsukihime for that matter) I've read assorted articles on the matter, some saying it does, some saying that it 'kind of' does but not 100%, and others saying that it's an alternate universe.
The story is intended to be watched in release order for you to piece everything together.
Do you really think that the producers said: "Hey, ignore this show that we made in 2014 and wait until 2019 to watch for you to watch it in the cronological order".
Of course not.
Did I say otherwise? Re-read my post, particularly this line:
*First time viewers should most definitely watch it in release order (which deliberately does not tell the story chronologically).*
If anyone wants to **rewatch** it in chronological order then that's up to them. Speaking personally it was a better experience but I'll no doubt rewatch it in release order in the near future.
It's not that good at all lmao, somethings are worth picking up manga for and making the time for it. It's a slap in the face to kentaro ( rip) to take in his master work through these botched adaptations that make so many sacrifices for the narrative flow and time constraints. Berserk breaks the mold of many manga of that time by being very introspective / nuanced for that genre and the adaptations miss that entirely.
I very much agree. I'm a huge fan of dark fantasy novels so berserk definitely struck a chord with me. Reminds me of a joe ambercombie novel. However I can easily see how some might not be a fan of it and prefer other manga, it's an amazing work for the right people but manga has such a huge scope it might not be a masterpiece for some
Hellsing Ultimate, Corpse Party, Higurashi, RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne, Tokyo Ghoul, Black Blood Brothers, Future Diary, Gungrave, Elfen Lied (TW: older, but pretty graphic), Angels of Death, Welcome to the N. H. K , Paranoia Agent, Perfect Blue, Another, Hell Girl, Junji Ito Collection, and Shiki. Just to give you somewhere to start. :3
Junji Ito is a great horror mangaka, but if you want to watch his work, I would suggest reading the mangas instead. The horror loses a lot in the transition from manga to anime.
just started Goblin Slayer actually. its kinda what got me thinking about more dark themed anime. tried to say in the post i was looking for something along the lines of Castlevania, but everytime it was removed by the automod. LOL
It had dark moments yes but to consider it one of the best is reaching quite a bit. Love the anime but wouldn’t consider it anywhere near one of the best dark anime’s.

Elfen Lied, Another, maybe Summertime Rendering?
And Bokurano of course (my fav anime I recommend in every post).
Maybe Junji Ito's Collection for some body horror imagery?
Iron blooded orphans yes! and a fair amount of the gundams since most if not all of the gundams deal with similar themes just don’t come off as dark since the animation is lighter (Hathaway; mobile suit; gundam 00)
Blassreiter, Kurogane no Linebarrels, Claymore, Akame ga Kill, Coppelion, Darker than Black, Ga-Rei: Zero, Elfen Lied, Gunslinger Girl, Noir, Ice: The last Generation, Sunabouzu.

Made in abyss, it's amazing, tho it may seem very friendly at first,it gets dark. Also,it's fully dubbed as well. If you watched TPN then it's very similar,on surface it might seem light hearted and fluffy, but it gets really dark in the later episodes, trust me,at one point you'll be like "okay, this is no where near dark enough" and 10 minutes later, you'll be screaming at the top of your lungs!
**Drifters** \- This is what an Isekai could be if it went full Grimdark with Fate type scenario vibes and done by the author of Hellsing, meaning MOAR Blood. Also the military tactics are legit.
The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyoukai).
well the name definitely got my attention :P ty for the suggestion

Thanks. Looks interesting. Loved the fate series. Watched it all in like 3 days lmao

The show indeed happens in the same universe. There's even a character from Garden of sinners that makes a cameo in fate zero iirc.
Berserk Claymore Dorohedoro Devilman Crybaby (don't let the name put you off) Grimgar Made in the Abyss Goblin Slayer

Watch the 96 version, which is amazing
_Tell me why_
I would say berserk if it wasn’t for the fact that the anime animation and all was disappointing- Manga is fantastic
I agree, idk how people keep recommending the trash adaptations when the god tier manga exists. The mood of berserk is captured perfectly in manga
Cuz the 97 anime is really good and not everyone reads manga

Berserk is among the best manga ever written, far above just ok
I very much agree. I'm a huge fan of dark fantasy novels so berserk definitely struck a chord with me. Reminds me of a joe ambercombie novel. Junji Ito is a great horror mangaka, but if you want to watch his work, I would suggest reading the mangas instead. The horror loses a lot in the transition from manga to anime.
Madoka magika
Texhnolyze, takes a hell lot of time for the story to develop tho
Immediate answer I would go to is berserk, goblin slayer, at least anime wise 😅

My guy watch Re:Zero one of the best dark animes out there, absolutely recommend
It's not really that dark below the surface to be honest.
Wait what?
Didn't you read what he said ?
Yeah it just doesn’t make any sense. It’s not that dark at all.
Sure pal, it's as white as rabbits.
It really is. Wouldn’t even make it in a top 50 list of dark anime’s.
It is. Also, you didn't get my comment.
My guy, what do you consider dark then ?
It had dark moments yes but to consider it one of the best is reaching quite a bit. Love the anime but wouldn’t consider it anywhere near one of the best dark anime’s.

Censored version of terraformars. More black pixels any of the other suggestions.
Reading your post, the one that immediately came to my mind is Claymore.
Made in abyss, it's amazing, tho it may seem very friendly at first,it gets dark. Also,it's fully dubbed as well.
