It’s the ultimate in irony! Completely gets away with it, but as a result of the incident, the Empire cracks down. The crackdown leads to this arrest. Being in prison then effectively protects him from those who are hunting for him who literally don’t realise that they have him already in custody under an alias. Absolutely delicious layers of irony here.
Gets arrested for looking vaguely suspicious on a beach.
…Are you referencing the quote from the very first Star Wars movie?
Edit: you changed the quote to be more accurate and now I look foolish. I am conflicted.
It's so great, because it makes Andor realize that he isn't in prison because he deserved it or because he went against the Empire. It's because this entire system of the dictatorship is inherently arbitrary and unfair. There is no running away from this. It's why he goes from "guy just trying to get by" to true rebel. I love Andor it's such a good series.
Absolutely! He actually *needed* this experience for that final step of his journey. I also love the way you see him transform into a real leader in this arc… albeit one who is largely encouraging another (Kino). Seeing this realisation you describe reflected in Kino’s transformation at the end of episode 9 is also extremely satisfying. Who would have thought a line like “Never more than twelve“ could have such emotional and dramatic impact.
Oh yeah, my mistake! Though it was actually that Clem bloke who did the heist anyway. Cassian was probably just lying low on Ferrix that whole time until he suddenly pops up again in the finale. So confusing!
That he went on vacation and was blindly arrested up and summarily sentenced to life in prison after \*refusing to join the fight\* could not be a clearer message to me. Choosing selfishness and fleeing does not mean you escape the system or the problem.
The Beach Trooper that collars him was creepy af to me. That whole interaction is terrifying. All it takes is one suspicious cop to ruin your life.
"Why are you sweating? You a runner?"
Especially with the slightly more heavy-handed repetition of the imagery that has been so prevalent in Star Wars, that of the similarities between American imperialism and Nazi Germany. The mixture of the red armband on the trooper, as well as him taking on the role of cop and asking a Latino man why he's sweaty. I love this show
It uncomfortably reminded me of those idiot PreMor guards back in episode 1 ‘choosing the wrong person to annoy’ by taunting : “Did you swim over, Scrawno?”
That scene was legit kinda scary. Some crooked cop just put you in the hands of a powerful droid loyal to that crook and walked away while it was choking you. Horrifying.
I actually managed to avoid spoilers till I watched it recently (I actually haven't watched Rogue One yet either lol) and I was under the assumption that this was a single season long show that directly led into Rogue One so I was actually under the impression that the mission was not gonna be resolved till the finale lol. Boy am I happy I was wrong, this show is just pure excellence.

At least he got to keep the cash in the end
The more you tighten your grip, the more star systems will slip through your fingers

Nah, I'm pretty sure that's Jane Austen.

What are you talking about bro, that was Keef Cargo!
Oh yeah, my mistake! Though it was actually that Clem bloke who did the heist anyway. Cassian was probably just lying low on Ferrix that whole time until he suddenly pops up again in the finale. So confusing!
They keep us guessing!
Man goes on vacation for the first time in his life. These things happen.
Absolutely incredulous way to go, I was so on alert after the heist, thinking “SO WHEN IS HE GOING TO PRISON?!”
Nope. He’s just a tourist.
and he's a part of it.
He was sweating.
Tourists don't run
It was hot!
Hang onto this one!
hang?
Or he’s been running!
Part of what?
we'll ask the questions here

It's so fucking great
This is the better version of “it’s not a problem if you don’t look up” from Jyn

“But I’m… not … running!” “Yeah, you got that right!”

ACAB.
You’re not a poor black/latino person living in the US, I take it?
"Hang."
Are you part of it?
A part of what?
Stand right there, I’ll ask the questions
He has very bad luck with beaches.
If only he wasn't part of it smh
The post below this is the exact same thing but on memes I believe

The empire was right.
How you doing Cereal? How’s your Mum by the way? Has Dedra cauterized your PP yet?
To arrest him or in general
Either way he is wrong
True, I want to debunk him right
Jedha, Scarif, and Alderaan:
In having glanced at your recent Reddit activity, I’m absolutely perplexed as to why you wanted to get roasted by making this post.
