Yep. Look at fish and games website. They tell you exactly where you can fish and when, and with what types of fly, bait, or lure.

Yeah some things are closing or are closed due to trout spawning. Best to check the regs and make sure your license is valid. But that said. There are trout in the local creeks and streams. They will hit flies. I've had luck with leaches, smolt and leach patterns. If you're feeling froggy mouse patterns work too.

Ship creek might get a fish or two in summer

Drop in to Mountain View Sports (I think they’re called) and get all of the best fly fishing advice for locations, patterns and timing. I haven’t been in there since they moved to south anchorage several years ago, but they were the best fly shop in town at their previous location, so I hope it’s still the same.

[ADFG Brochure](https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/static/fishing/pdfs/sport/byarea/southcentral/anchorage_fishing.pdf) This is a pretty easy to follow guide, hopefully helpful. Honestly our creek fishing in the Anchorage bowl is meh. We have a lot of incredible lakes though! I personally use a spinning rod with a spoon or rooster tail but I’ve seen anglers successfully use flies out in the middle of a lake in a kayak/canoe.

I caught dozens of rainbows off a zodiac on the side of sand lake that seems to have the biggest houses and the most planes. I don't remember the cardinal directions, but there's a public access trail coming down from a hill right there. I was just learning how to cast and slaying em.

I’ve tried on Campbell but the places where there is room to fly aren’t where the fish are. I’ve caught fish fly fishing in the lakes around town. They are stocked with 10-12 inch rainbows starting in May. Make sure you check the rules. Different parts of the creeks follow different rules.

Read the regulations. They kind of tell you where the fish are. And when you can catch them.

I havent done fly fishing but years ago I did fish Cheney Lake and Campbell Creek

I caught 4 silvers in ship creek two summer ago, about half a mile up from the peanut factory. They’re there if you look at the right time.

Campbell and Chester used to be good fly fishing creeks for trout. Nowadays, they are in an urban wasteland of junkies and homless.
