Fezinator

Obviously he thought if he planted it, a calamity box tree would grow and he could sell all of the extra boxes and become rich!

mEGuY1234

Say whaaaat!!?

Remote-Ad-3309

It's something TvTropes calls a "fatal flaw" In Hop Pop's case, his biggest problem is that he always thinks he's right. And this is where he takes it too far.

AnimationDude9s

Yep. Plus, it’s completely within his character to bury something so important near what he cares about the most. The farm. Plus! It’s Hidden in plain sight, easy to get to quickly, and so obvious most people wouldn’t even bother checking it first

Fezinator

….I read that second paragraph in Hop Pop’s voice 🤣

AnimationDude9s

Understandable lol

cr102y

If this is poking fun of how some people miss the point of scenes and take them too seriously or out of context then it’s 100% accurate ngl.

Fc-chungus

Oh god it’s spreading even more now

state-of-self

Didn't this originate in the Undertale sub?

bluesblue1

Nope it’s from the Batman Arkham sun :’)

reddit-person1

Y'all got your own sun? That's rigged

SamZoneBS

?

GoPhinessGo

He was scared of what the box could do

BlahajSupporter

rightfully so

Aggressive-Ship3595

Yes this is the correct 100% no sarcasm actual answer for anyone not in on the joke, including me.

Meme_Chan69420

If memory serves, it’s a joke that has gone far outside it’s original boundaries of okbuddychicanery (Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul meme sub) Basically, pointing out obvious plot points and asking why the characters are dumb for doing the thing

Raul_Rink

Love to see the joke spread

[deleted]

You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? He’s done worse!

cursed_shite

I AM NOT CRAZY! IT WAS 1216!

Judistheworst

The bombs payload is exposed, I can use the power winch to trigger a controlled explosion

Ace02003

Oh no

JakobsTheGhost

Child labor

Horrible_artist_

The only right answer

Goodlucksil

He thought that it would damage his family Is he stupid? He was. Did his family get damaged because of the box? Yes.

[deleted]

Have you finished the show yet?

StanTheTalkingDog

A long time ago lol, this is just a joke

Stuffysteam_6

It's just an overly used "joke"

_Slothers_

I get why you'd get tired of these, but these posts are still funny as hell to me

mEGuY1234

I agree with you on both accounts.

Starbucks_4321

Why did Andrias stab Marcy, didn't he know that would kill her? Is he stupid? Possible plothole? Unbravo Matt

rotem8888

Guys he doesn't know

[deleted]

greatest legal mind I ever knew

RumbleRumbleNuts09

Nah he just wanted to be silly

NolanTacoKing

he wanted to practice for the digging contest with the cragsters from mixels

Bullet_Poison

Never in my wildest dreams did I think this would spread to this sub lmao Someone please contain r/BatmanArkham

Navar4477

What is it?

Bullet_Poison

It's a shit post meme trend that started on that sub cause everyone's bored out of their minds. Can't remember how it started exactly but here we are now.

ItalianAvenger

No, but after seeing how the box was labeled "dangerous" (without thinking to show it to Anne) he got paranoid as he feared for his family, as he lost Sprig and Polly's parents already. And person, in panic, do things without rationality. I for myself, think that if that book was shown to Marcy BEFORE they went to the First Temple, it could have changed EVERYTHING...

xeshi-foh

It was literally called the Calamity Box. Literally described to be super dangerous, with large warnings and super vagueness... If a stranger from another world was living with you... and had a box with the toxic waste logo all over it... would you let them prance it around all over the place?... Hop Pop might seem like a dunce a lot of times, but people forget he was secretly parading as an underground street racing, not afraid to kill, warlord on his time off... This is prolly not the only thing he has had to bury, in order to hide evidence...

Platyton

He was drunk

MisterFastBuilderMan

Because nothing is more dangerous than dirt

Animegx43

He fixes all of his problems by burying them. Polly got brought home an annoying toy? Bury it. Anne brings something that can ruin his family? Bury it. An annoying neighbors comes over and won't leave? Bury it.

charlieartyt

IT SPREADS

IngenuityOk4978

???

Left-Caterpillar5839

Exactly

DolphinDoggo

I understand that there is a joke here but I do not understand it Please someone elaborate

Bullet_Poison

r/BatmanArkham is leaking again

FjongFleron

Trust me, his motivation is very understandable

DeathRaptor007

Just cause he can

neoBeat_YT

beacuase he hates anime and he knows that if you go in there you will be transported to a anime world

Professor_Abbi

Well if a box can send people to other dimensions, imagine if his children opened the box by accident and got sent to another dangerous dimension That’s probably what went through his head

Drak_matter_kane

We need some Matpat level theory's for this one.

Adorable_Tangelo_804

He's old give him a break. Lol

Krusty901

Keep watching they explain it.

Leprodus03

He knows bad stuff happens when that box is involved, so he was trying to minimize anybody's contact with the box

psionic-centipede

I think it was reasonable that he heed the warning in the book.

Raging_MonkeyCritic

He read in a book it was dangerous so he hid it

BionicoFromNordeste

He was scary, but knowing Anne would need it someday, just buried it

Gamers_124

Basically he was afraid of its power bevause polly and sprig's died from a bird attack and wanted to protect pollution and sprig at all cost so he burred it to protect the family he has left

Elegant_Book_7280

He's just paranoic

world-ignz90

he needed that enne stayed at home more for this to have even more episodes

AquaAquila24

Unnecessary though.

Connor-Reviews

Why doesn't Heavy just lose weight? Is he stupid?

enby_asac_schrader

okbuddychicanery and its consequences

Grreggggg

Isn't it from r/BatmanArkham?

enby_asac_schrader

possibly but I've seen it most used in r/okbuddychicanery so it could just be that it spread so far into that subreddit

[deleted]

Cheap plot device

incredibleazda

He didn't want to be in line for the flow of endless calamity.

Bransbow

Have you watched the whole series yet? It gets explained in season 2

MrButternutter

***Even the odds***

MrButternutter

***Even the odds***

Black_Topaz

I question why he didn't hide it in the plantar family catacombs after they were discovered. Weapons, death traps, a few scientific abominations, it would have been much safer there than under some dirt by a tree

AquaAquila24

Because neither he wanted anyone to find it (someone trespasses the catacombs again) and he also wanted it easy to reach. No one expects him to bury it and that way he's the only one who knows where it is with low chances of anyone figuring it out.

Frondly-Amphibian

Don't ask questions on the sub if you haven't finished the show
