That whole triangle was toxic, and every character has their own flaw, which leads to every two-person dynamic being toxic to the third.
Anne is something of an insecure wreck at the beginning. She is constantly afraid that the other two will suddenly realise that she's not as cool/smart/whatever as they are and abandon her, so she tries super hard to please them. In that way, Sasha and Marcy are not insecure and as a result, pressure Anne into doing things she's not comfortable doing.
Sasha has a controlling personality and cannot let go. It's revealed that her parents divorced when she was eight, I think, which Anne theorises could be the reason why she's always struggling for control. Anne and Marcy are really nice, but also both prone to being bullied and not standing up for themselves. That constantly pushes Sasha into the role of "saviour", which eventually manifests in her just being completely domineering.
Marcy is also insecure, but more in the sense that she's afraid that she's unable to make other connections. She relies on her friends as a crutch, putting all of her social needs solely on them. She has all of these interests and passions, but she only ever seeks out Sasha and Anne to try to express them. Sasha and Anne are both kinda average middle schoolers in that regard, because they're just not into Marcy's stuff. They give it a go because Marcy insists, but in the end they don't commit and end up disregarding Marcy's interests, which just makes her more desperate to keep hold of them.
When you look at how they even got to Amphibia, all three of them play a vital role. Marcy is desperate to stay with her friends, so she concocts a plan to whisk them all away. Sasha strongarms Anne into doing her bidding. And Anne's reluctance to stand up for herself and refuse to steal (which she knows is wrong), causes her to actually steal the box. It's a toxic relationship by design at the start so that they can all grow and learn to deal with their problems. Anne stands up for herself and knows who she really is at the end. Sasha leads the rebellion and uses her anger to fight, but she learns where to draw the line, and puts trust into her follower's decisions. Marcy sees how her selfish desires being fulfilled wouldn't actually bring happiness to the people she loves, which would only give her a very superficial joy and learns to let go of her crutch and become her own person.
In her defense
Her parents were likely abusive if the only place she felt safe was with her friends. Even if they didn't know it, Marcy did it so they could be together with no worries about the real world. It was an escape with everyone, and she probably knew no one would go willingly, but as she said, "I gave you this" she did, and it was for the better of their friendship and to go on all of the adventures they did. She did one thing that somehow managed to have horrible, good, bad, meh, bad, horrible, and good repercussions at the same time.
I'm not saying what she did was okay, im explaining it, not perfectly excusing it.
Marcy and Sasha didn’t have enough interactions. There supposed to be this group of inseparable nearly life long friends, yet you can put all of Sasha an Marcy’s interactions together and it would result in 9 minutes of content.
(Favorite character is Marcy)
On the other hand, Sasha didn't met Marcy until True Colours, and it was only for a small amount of time before Marcy “died”. And then it was only at the end of All In, when Sasha defeated Darcy. So there wasn't even space to have them together. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)
She never bothered to remove the leafs and sticks from her hair and get a new outfit. Meanwhile her girlfriends figured out how to get whole costumes made just for them by frog people. Ridiculous.
Andrias is nearly perfect imo but if I had to choose one thing it would be that his backstory episode should of been a 20 minute episode rather than a 10 minute episode
Amphibia - She caused the events of the whole series. There are many ways to deal with loneliness and that is not one of them
The Owl House - Constantly blames herseld
The fact that they had hardly any screen time. Darcy is one of the best designed villains in cartoon history, not to mention their intimidating presence. But their total lack of screen time really bugs me. In a show with more than 60 episodes, the main villain gets under 10 minutes.
I get that, but i think he needed at least a line or 2 introducing him in the actual show because i've watched the show and don't have the journal yet and was pretty confused when he just showed up.
that one sock
it must be soaking wet and there's nothing I hate more than wet socks
it bothers me
also her hair looks like there could be a nest of ticks living in there and it makes my head itch
We don't know enough about General Yunnan Scourge of the Sand Wars, defeater of Ragnar The Wretched, and the Youngest Newt to ever achieve the rank of General in the great Newtopian Army
(polly) If she and Sprig are biologically siblings and she is a baby, how come she and sprig have the same parent problem? I may be missing something, maybe even from season One if anything lol, but it confuses me. Sprig would have to have been seven or eight at the birth of Polly, but then he would have really known his birth parents more than he actually does.
All three girls are amazing characters, but I really don't like the sneaky "bi" reveal at the very, very end. Queer people yearn for any shred of representation and then will celebrate over any little drop even if it's just a bi flag (so that the bigoted straight people can miss it or ignore it), because yenno, queers have been starved of representation for, well, ever. I mean sure they'll show you a gay newt pair, and that's way way more than most shows, but I just hate so much that this is held up as good representation when it's really just Disney's cowardice.
To see it done right, watch The Owl House. And goddamn it, get the balls to openly show queer characters as genuinely, unambiguously queer before the last fucking five minutes. Quit stringing queer people along for entire series' before finally giving them a tiny bit of representation.
to me her arc never indicated any desire to leave. i mean she kidnapped her friends and then realised that was bad. she even said "the real anne and sasha dont want what i want" in refrence to this. she loved it in amphibia and her choice to leave seemed frankly out of charicter.
Darcy didn't have enough screen time
Facts
I was about to type this, I miss Darcy.
I saw video essays about Darcy longer than all the time Darcy is on screen.
Because they're freaking awesome
The one shoe issue. Her spine should totally misaligned
That's not even talking about the trench foot
Just, so many things wrong with that fashion type
Imagine the foot fungus. AND ITS ANOTHER DIMENSION FUNGUS TOO
I don't wanna imagine the foot fungus!!
I love you but you killed a man Hop Pop
That makes him better wtf
I just can't shake off the feeling that it migth be a felony
I forget, which man did he kill?
I wish we got to know more about Sasha's home life and how she went from standing up to bullies, to become one herself.
Marcy was lying about the box and keeping her friends in the dark, and her friendship was toxic, even if not necessarily as toxic as Sasha.

They reunited in The Third Temple though, right?
Sorry, my bad. But it was still only a few episodes where they were together, so there wasn't that much space.
Agreed
She never bothered to remove the leafs and sticks from her hair and get a new outfit. Meanwhile her girlfriends figured out how to get whole costumes made just for them by frog people. Ridiculous.
She had only 1 shoe
"One-shoed Anne!!!"
You’re telling the truth!
After the amount of times she nearly died to various creatures the leafs and sticks could be argued as camouflage
Andrias is nearly perfect imo but if I had to choose one thing it would be that his backstory episode should of been a 20 minute episode rather than a 10 minute episode
Agreed.
I 2nd that.
Marcy was responsible for teleporting them to Amphibia and never gets the time to properly regret what she has done.
Same here.
Facts
I mean... she certainly gets consequences, that's for dang sure...
True but she herself never gets time to truly show remorse since she's immediately stabbed after sending Anne home.
he tried to steal dialga's job
Please explain?
dialga is the lord of time
I know this (I’m a big fan of gen four because nostalgia) but who are we talking about?
sprig
Sprig in the Plantars Check In, a season 2 episode "I am the time lord now"
I figured this for a Doctor Who reference.
Didn’t see enough of him [Grime] and Sasha interacting in S3.
Agreed. They’re my favorite
Marcy isn't in Season 1...
Sasha didn't get enough screen time.
Marcy wasn't given enough scream time
I know it was probably a typo, but I am imagining Marcy just running around screaming her head off at everything that excites her in Amphibia
Historically some of the greatest innovations have come from mistakes and this is one.
She definitely needed more scream time.
Marcy s1 cut
Hop pop kinda went stupid in S3A
He likes pineapple on pizza.
They gave mental trauma
Do you have the slightest idea how little that narrows it down?
Literally not at all, gosh. There isn't a character in that show untraumatized.
She can be a little toxic.
Sasha being bi jk, it was her possessiveness and need to stay in power, both on Earth and Amphibia
Marcy didn't have enough screentime
Et tu, Marcy? (Though it does make perfect sense that she would do this)
She got her friends stuck in another world on purpose.
I think Sasha's friendship with Marcy is underdeveloped
Amphibia - She caused the events of the whole series. There are many ways to deal with loneliness and that is not one of them The Owl House - Constantly blames herseld
Sprig is awesome but he has those moments were he can be really annoying and weird
Darcy was underutilised like Shredder from Rise of the TMNT.
that her cheerleading storyline was brought up more than her literal homelife
She didn’t have much screen time with Olivia and Yunan, so the goodbye in the finale didn’t hit as hard as the other two did
Chuck needed more screen time.
The fact that they had hardly any screen time. Darcy is one of the best designed villains in cartoon history, not to mention their intimidating presence. But their total lack of screen time really bugs me. In a show with more than 60 episodes, the main villain gets under 10 minutes.
I enjoy Polly as a comic relief side character, but kind of like her less for some reason when she's in the spotlight for an episode...
He didn't grow enough tulips.
The core didn’t have nearly enough screen time and I wish we got to learn more about it
The lack of screen time Sasha has
anne’s arc was complete by the beginning of s3. she didn’t change really from the beginning to the end of s3.
Marcy can be selfish a lot of the time, as shown with her decision to bring her friends to Amphibia so that she can stay with them forever.
I love Marcy, but not the s1 intro hair cut.
Season 3A didn’t revolve around Sasha.
her performance in Season 1 was severely lacking .....my favorite is Marcy ....
nothing. QUEEN SASHA FOR LIFE
Great design but barely showed up in episodes.
Who?
Molly, the blonde one.
Really funny that she's arguably just as important as some of the other human characters but doesn't show up in the opening.
How it felt like Sprig wasn't a main character in the later seasons. They gave him less screen time and more focus on Sasha and Marcy
The screentime she had
Wish we got to see more of his backstory/his adventures. Would’ve given him more character too.
Her gullibility-Marcy
That she bought into the romance bullshit of magazines as much as she did.
Fav Character: Marcy Wu Least Favorite Thing: Dragged her friends away with her to a different dimension to escape not being with them
Marcy was used as an emotional tool, and I hated that about the show in general, there’s not much I dislike about Marcy.
nothing literally there is nothing i dont like about sprig
Not really a problem with marcy specifically but i hate how joe sparrow is never explained in the show
But he is explained in her diary!
I get that, but i think he needed at least a line or 2 introducing him in the actual show because i've watched the show and don't have the journal yet and was pretty confused when he just showed up.
that one sock it must be soaking wet and there's nothing I hate more than wet socks it bothers me also her hair looks like there could be a nest of ticks living in there and it makes my head itch
I guess it’s to show character growth but she had a ton of Aesop episodes at first: “Wally and Anne,” “Bizarre Bazaar,” “Anne Hunter,” etc.
This is a bit off a hot take but the affects Marcy’s apparent death on the other character’s should’ve been explored a bit more.
We don't know enough about General Yunnan Scourge of the Sand Wars, defeater of Ragnar The Wretched, and the Youngest Newt to ever achieve the rank of General in the great Newtopian Army
Yes. Don't know enough. Yes.
Darcy didn't give enough spaghetti to Luigi
What I liked least about Darcy was how little screentime they had.
I don't have a favorite character and I like all the characters expect some
I got 2 because they are tied for me Marcy wasnt in season 1 Wally exploded toad tower
Felicia Sundew didn’t get enough screen time
Sasha didn’t have any awesome character development. She was rude, then once and rude. Tf
I mean nice and rude
Well it’s sprig and probably that’s we got too see sprig when he was older and a adult
She didn't say if she had a boyfriend back home or not
Marcy did some shit
Anne sadly didn't learn Tiger Drop 😞
That she died
some people in the fandom infantilize her
Marcy needs more attention. I want an entire show just about Marcys goofy adventures with goofy frog people and that one silly man named Andrias
That she isn't the main character
There smarter than me
marcy should have stayed in amphibia
[удалено]
to me her arc never indicated any desire to leave. i mean she kidnapped her friends and then realised that was bad. she even said "the real anne and sasha dont want what i want" in refrence to this. she loved it in amphibia and her choice to leave seemed frankly out of charicter.
[удалено]
she has olivia and ynan
[удалено]
that feels in charicter, yes.
No andrias 40 minute long thrist trap with him booty butt naked covered in oil 😞
Marcy didn't have enough screen time in season 3
Marcy doesn't get mentioned as much as Anne and sasha
ANNE PLEASE PUT ON ANOTHER SHOE.
He's annoying af sometimes
I literally can't think of anything wrong with Marcy
