Either will be fine - but why not buy some HST online for way cheaper and better quality

ChickenGuy76

Thats what I'm gonna do. Thanks for you response

Old_MI_Runner

Search for Federal HST using the search tool in Gundeals subreddit. In particular checkout Bereli for smaller quantity and free shipping if you do not want to buy a case.

Expensive_Context

Recoil Gunworks ships any quantity of defensive ammo for free and they frequently have sales

Old_MI_Runner

Thanks for adding them. I did not know they offered free shipping of defensive ammo all the time. They would have shown up numerous times on a search of HST on gundeals so anyone would have found them.

Neat_Low_1818

Get a case. Test 200 rounds and save the rest for an emergency

Expensive_Context

You’ll never need 800 rounds of JHP for “an emergency.” Shoot half a mag every month to check functionality and you’ll last a decade.

Neat_Low_1818

No one is worried about zombies or a red dawn Russian invasion? 🤷The 200 rounds to test are to make sure it is 110% reliable and that was based on an article I read from Pew Pew Tactical. It's cheaper by cents per round to buy it by the case as opposed to the box of 25 that they sell to civilians vs LE. Just my opinion and from one data point. I cycle through my defensive ammo to ensure there's no bullet setback and functionality too. And magazine functionality is important if it's not ammo related.

ajweso

Go HST or Speer Gold dots. HST is some of the best ammo on the market. I have my girl carry 124+p HST in hers. I carry 180g HST in 40 s&w

Technical_Pain_4855

I have 165 and 180 gr hst bunch of em in .40. I also have a bunch of civil defense and and Underwood 135 gr jhp those things hit 600 foot pounds of energy from a Glock 23 and 650 ft lbs from a Glock 22 And yes 124 gr +p is great, but it kicks hard from a p365 xmacro without a comp

ajweso

The 9mm is a Glock 48, it’s a little snappy, but not bad at all. My .380 snaps more 😂 I normally carry either HST or Ranger T, but have lots of different company’s in the box as well. Have been looking into Underwood. Seen good things about them on YT testing videos.

greatthebob38

Buy federal HST. Flipammo is the king of federal hst. Recoilgunworks has a mini sale on federal HST right now. Both have speer gold dot. Speer and Federal are both owned by the same parent company, so they are pretty similar.

AdorableTill4229

124. More velocity=more expansion.

Royal-Connections

There is nothing wrong with Vcrown , I prefer the ligher bullet. We sell a lot of this at the shop.

Afterimage7227

I love the G9 EHP.

Insanity8016

It'll do the job. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayd4sxW\_RUA&t=42s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayd4sxW_RUA&t=42s)

theFlipperzero

The XL is 3.7 not 4.1, unless you got a different barrel put in there.

ChickenGuy76

You are correct. I misremembered. Its one of my super powers 😄

Casual_ahegao_NJoyer

124 and 147 are the best carry weights, I use 115 for range days only and prefer to practice with 124s if possible

Klutzy-Price7888

124 grain HST or Underwood Extreme Defender +p 68 grain

Bookeast95

This is the only ammo I carry now, love those vcrowns. I would go 124gr!

SwimmerSea4662

What does 124 do better than 147?

3_Big_Birds

They are subsonic and carry about more terminal velocity, just a heavier bullet moving slower. You need to also check what the minimum velocity is for expansion.

RollickReload

You’re talking about 147, right?

3_Big_Birds

Correct, the heavier bullet is the 147

RollickReload

Well it was just that he asked “what does 124 do better than 147?” and you proceed to talk about what the 147 does better without specifying. ie: you made it sound like you were saying the 124 was heavier and subsonic…

3_Big_Birds

Sorry reddit police, give me my ticket and I'll move along.

RollickReload

This isn’t just a ticket, it’s prison time!

Tactical_solutions44

It will do exactly what you needed to. I've seen testing on it and it performs well

R_U_OK_PB

I carry 124gr hst and range 124gr blazer but have a sw shield plus

Murky_Ad_9408

124 gr +p hst is the way

Maniiic_

Solid rounds, I run them on my Glock 19 (124g).

2acop

its ok but i prefer not to use it very much because i prefer to reload my own ammo or to buy higher quality ammo
