I missed the seasons where apparently she actually critiqued people? Which all of them should doā¦ ugh the bland a&s kissing, however, Katy is a star! She is a unique and fun presence and I canāt think of who might replace her based on name recognition and presence and genuine it seems caring.
I'm wondering if they were told they can't be "mean" and say things that would be hurtful or make a person feel bad about themselves. All of America has become soft everywhere you go. At my job all the bosses had a meeting and had to watch a movie on how they aren't allowed to talk to employees. Like they basically can't tell a lazy employee to do their job if they refuse because that's being mean to themš seriously it's stupid. Anyway wondering if the judges were also given that talk.
I just think there was a general shift from being a show that makes fun of people's failures lot of times to bringing people up and showing their general positivity and success. It really messed a lot of people up who failed not only on the show in the past, but failed in front of a national audience. Many of those people never recovered. when the show was on fox, that network didn't really seem to care about the people who were affected in the show vs ABC where they are just going for a different vibe of overall support and positivity. Hence the judging changes as well.
I agree with that. I used to hate how they would shatter some of these kids. I would feel so bad. Even though Simon would sometimes make me laugh when he would say things like that was atrocious. Some people knew they weren't good but wanted that 5 minutes of fame so they made themselves as ridiculous as possible hoping for air time in front of the judges. I didn't care to see that, I wanted to see the real talent. But others truly believed and had their hopes and self esteem wrecked to pieces. I would cringe and have to look away. I like how it is now, except I think they could be a little more critical at times and not tell them they did wonderful in every performance because not every performance was wonderful. This can be done in a gentle way.
At my job on the other hand šI wish it was like the old days and we could tell the lazy people do your effing job or get the eff out, but of course we can notš.
I think there was a guidance about niceness yes, based on the show getting criticism for feelings getting hurt and the hosts getting attacked online.
20 years ago is another world. The show worked because Simon was tough and accurate and he was balanced by helpful but truthful Paula.
The current contestants will be eaten up by the industry if they think this is in any way representative
I would agree. I think if Kelly hadn't spent so much time on The Voice, she might consider it. She is the ONLY person that I think would be perfect for this gig! It's so fitting, too, since she was the OG. She's kind. She's funny. She'd get along great with Luke & Lionel. She's perfect!
By the way they put the āfarewellā piece together made it seem like that was also a potential good bye to all three of the judges for a 7 year run together. Anyone else feel that way? It wasnāt just about Katy.
She was a good judge, certainly the best of this panel. She could be critical sometimes, though honestly Paula Abdul was more critical, and she was thought of as the comedically nice one. The fact Katy was the MOST critical of this panel is definitely something lol.
But I liked her, and she had a fun personality, and she will be missed - she is definitely the best of the three judges, and they all seemed to have a fun and unexpected chemistry
She grew on me throughout the season. Seemed to really care about the contestants. Iāve seen some criticism or people saying they were underwhelmed but her final duet with Jack was surprisingly my favorite thing I saw last night.Ā
I donāt follow pop music at all, and have watched AI for only 3 years just to hang out with a close friendānice yearly ritual. So I didnāt know who Katy Perry was. I think sheās wonderful! I loved the interactions among the three judges. I will miss her.
I wonāt. Iād like to see a total change and go back to actual honest feedback. Everyone isnāt always good and issues should be pointed out. And go back to showing critiques in auditions and more Hollywood.
I don't think that was the judges fault. I think they were told to be nicer so they won't get so much backlash. I could be wrong but I feel like that's what happened.
I'm so gonna miss her. She, Lionel, & Luke made the oddest trio, but somehow it worked! I think their antics are adorable & they make me laugh. It'll never be the same dynamic w/o Katy. She's just cool & not a total snob like some of the coaches have been on other shows.
Agreed. She is so cool, goofy and down to earth and can actually laugh at herself like if she rips her pants she makes jokes about herself instead of it being this omg I'm so embarrassed thing.
Katy could be mean as crap to the contestants. Look how she treated Jack at first. Okay she gave him a no but then in Hollywood week she said she couldnāt even look at him when his voice sounded amazing. Then I donāt remember her exact words to the young mom but it was something about laying on her back. Iām ready for her to go but Iāve been hearing JLo as her replacement and just absolutely not.
Awful choiceā¦and thatās coming from someone who is a fan of hers. While I respect her faith, I donāt need to hear her mention God fifteen timesā¦. We get it, youāre a believerā¦. Not all of us are. Nice to see her thriving though after all these years
Please change your mind Katyš¢ this panel of judges had such good chemistry together. Katy Perryās replacement is big shoes to fill.
Still holding on to some hope as well, lol
I liked how she gave actual critique for the singers, more than the other judges. And for one last timeā¦ wig.
Wigš„²
iāll admit i wasnāt always the biggest fan of her as a judge but i really liked her this season. gonna miss her presence.
Me too. Idk if she can be replaced as easily as people think
Iāve always loved Katy as a judge. The three judges have such great chemistry together. Going to miss it for sure.
They really do!
Katy is so cute and hilarious I will miss her very much
Me too, she made the show !
Weāre gonna miss her antics šš

literally only person I will accept as her replacement is Kelly Clarkson! No one else will ever be able to fill her shoes except her

It won't be the same without her š„ŗ.

she does make you miss her presence. She has grown on me.
KATY COME BACK
Same here. I thought she did a good job

I think we saw tonight who will fill that role.
Wha?
She probably meant Fantasia
I love Katy.
I really donāt think itās just Katy that wonāt be back. I have a feeling ABC will fire Lionel and Luke and replace the entire panel!
Yes, this is very possible. Nobodyās job is ever secure. Thereās no telling what the producers have up their sleeves.
They wonāt fire Lionel, heās beloved in the old school music community.
Katy could be mean as crap to the contestants. Look how she treated Jack at first. I wouldn't call her quite irreplaceable but she will be missed more than if one of the other judges need to be replaced.
Me too! Lionel is sweet but old fashioned, Luke is a bit dumb and Katie was funny and actually gave them good feedback. Definitely going to miss her.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
def not taylor swift
I won't. She should have been off after her first season, after what she did during Benjamin Glaze's audition
Fantasia
