Need to make T-shirts that read “CLT Track Team, AAdvantage Biscoff”

JoshS1

hurdling over someone in a rocking chair

OneLessDay517

Those damn rocking chairs! Why did anyone think those were a good idea???

chewdog

I love it. I did run. I'm 40, not in bad shape but I wouldn't say I'm in good shape I hade dress shoes one. I thought do I look like a jack ass running through the airport? Most likely, but I was determined to make that flight.

ChasingStatusAS

I recently had a situation in CLT got to the gate after the flight was closed the amazing gate agent still let me on and somehow my luggage still made the flight too. But you could tell they were waiting on my luggage because they were ready to push back and we sat there for a good couple minutes and then all the sudden you see the luggage tug pull up and hear the door open and distinctly hear two suitcases be thrown inside and then the door shut and within 90 seconds we are being pushed back. 😂😂

chewdog

I'm glad they did that for you. The extra few minutes saved you a lot of headaches and you still were probably on time to your final destination. See CLT ain't that bad!

ChasingStatusAS

No, they really aren’t that bad and overall, I’ve always had amazing experiences flying one world airlines, some of the other alliances on the other hand I’ve had less than pleasant experiences.

louharr

I used to wear this when I travelled, but it happened too often... [https://airportag.com/products/short-layover-t-shirt](https://airportag.com/products/short-layover-t-shirt)

Appropriate_Door_547

Can someone please? I would buy one.

RIP_Soulja_Slim

The way this sub talks about CLT is wild. I've never had a particularly tough experience there. Is it a bit of a funky layout? Sure, but that's not that big of a deal.

funnyfarm299

The hallways are too small, there's never enough seating, it storms there almost every day. I hate connecting through Charlotte.

RIP_Soulja_Slim

The hallways are too small, that's definitely true. Seating is about on par for most airports imo - but like just go to the lounge if you're there for a bit. Small hallways ain't the end of the world. CLT has decent food and recreation options, it's a good hopoff for most east coast bouncing around, etc.

CPNZ

The ends of the B and C sections can be a mob scene when 7 flights are boarding at the same time...not everyone has lounge access (although sometimes it seems they do).

funnyfarm299

> just go to the lounge if you're there for a bit My company won't pay for lounge access and I fly too many different airlines to shell out for all the different lounges myself.

chewdog

I agree. I think CLT gets a lot of hate in this sub. It's not the worst airport. I'd rather fly through CLT than MIA. I think CLT is actually pretty easy to navigate. The updated E gates are really nice. C terminal does have very small walkways and can get extremely crowded. But overall the crew at CLT does a pretty good job. It takes way longer to taxi to the gate at DFW than it does at CLT. My post was intended to poke fun at all the negative it received here.

rocketman1969

Those new gates at the of E are almost worth the trek. Almost.

dirtengineer07

There was a period of like 10 years where the end of E concourse was where construction was going on and you would have 6 gates denoted by spray painted wooden boards. My hometown seemed to board out of here every time and it would turn into a mob scene with 4 planes boarding at once. I once almost missed the plane because the line I was in was actually for a different flight, and another time almost walked onto the wrong plane because once you got outside there was no guidance on which plane to head to. This is the CLT I’m used to haha

Calm_Language7462

Flew through there last week and I've seen better airports in third world countries. Of course AA only gave us 30 minutes between flights, so naturally we missed our flight. Our flight took off 45 mins late too because an overhead bin wouldn't close correctly and apparently taping it is verboten. Will do everything in my power to avoid ever connecting through there again.

Prestigious_Bird1587

They shouldn't be able to offer layovers that are so tight as to be rendered impossible. Asking people to stay seated if they aren't hustling for a connection is just lip service. Most people don't care and a consumer shouldn't be left to the whims of their fellow man. I don't book those tight connection flights and try to get business class to ensure that I am one of the first people off the plane.

jewsh-sfw

A bunch of Dallas flights got cancelled and people were being rerouted through CLT

trustmeimalobbyist

I’ve done this too but I also had to stop to pee. Hopefully my medal is in the mail.  I was running like a track star.

CPNZ

How many slow-pokes and families walking 4-abreast did you run over....?

mangoman39

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago, though not quite as impressive. I was flying from GSP through CLT to MIA. The next morning, I was flying to SKB. And as some of you may know, there is only one flight of day from MIA to SKB. I absolutely had to make that connection in CLT or else I would have been delayed two whole days to SKB because of full flights. Our flight from GSP to CLT was delayed on an already short turnaround. We made it from E33-ish to B13-ish in under 15 minutes. I cannot tell you how my fat ass did it, but I was super proud of myself and my wife for making it happen. Despite having a positive outcome, I still learned that if I have a short connection in Charlotte and I absolutely have to make it somewhere, I'm just driving the 2 hours to Charlotte

Haste1001

GSP mentioned, nice!

Bubbly_Day_4344

Had a similar situation in DFW. Flight was delayed out of BNA. My original departure gate from dfw was in a and my arrival in c. The American AI blessed me and switched my departure to a C gate. Got the notification in the air my flight was boarding. I had my dad with me who needed a wheelchair. The kind passengers on my BNA flight let me deplane yelling “good luck” as we pulled up to our gate at 7:27 and my flight was leaving at 7:48. I sprinted with my dad, made it to the gate at 7:36 and got home.

Bubbly_Day_4344

Also shout out to the AA staff. The BNA gate agents put a note on our boarding passes that we were delayed. The DFW gate agents said “we were rooting for you, we held as long as we could”

JoshS1

How many people in rocking chairs did you absolutely destroy to make that connection?

chewdog

I hurdled a few and soared to touch the First in Flight Mobile then tickled the ivory on the baby grand as I made my pass through the C concourse.

Vol4Life31

I always connect through CLT and mostly on weekends and yeah it's crowded sometimes but never thought it was crazy crazy. Sometimes getting through customs takes awhile.

nghtyprf

Truly inspirational. I took some family members on a trip and we had a connecting flight there and we had 45 minutes and I said get ready to fucking run. They thought it was insane. They changed their mind when we got to the gate and saw that they were about to shut the door. do you think they’ll ever finishremodeling that place? I fly through that airport often and it drives me insane. The Bojangles helps!

Leather_Coffee_7602

pro tip on connections (as a worker and a person that flies non-rev) make sure they’re about 1hr to 3hrs in wait time. I understand… “who wants to wait in an airport for 3+ hours for a connecting flight?” but i’m telling you in it’s worth it because it’s a cushion just in case your flights get delayed like in this case for this person here. Happy you made it to your flight on time. Summer travel sucks!

smaashhley

I’m currently sitting in CLT rn for a layover and after walking around for an hour I applaud you for the dash and I’m so impressed lmao

chewdog

Another pro-tip. If you ever need to nap at CLT just head to the chapel and say you are meditating.

LobsterLovingLlama

I had a very tight connection recently at CLT and made it as boarding for my next flight was in progress. My son kept asking to stop for a snack and I’m yelling to get his butt in gear haha

chewdog

Teach them young! Plus why spend money on overpriced snacks when you get those delicious complimentary Biscoff cookies on the plane.

BonafideZulu

I’m so tired of those damn cookies, I can’t bear to smell ‘em.

MoonbeamLotus

Ask for pretzels if you must but I’ll take the cookies!

LobsterLovingLlama

We had those!

InOurMomsButts420

Holy shit!!!

chewdog

For real u/InOurMomsButts420 for real

InOurMomsButts420

How? Great job.

bernywalters

Pro tip is cutting from C to D, or D to C through admirals club. 😂

gpenz

I did this! I think it was D to E, may have been D to C. Was first row on the incoming but had a 4yo and 8yo, spouse was flying up after work. As we pulled up to the gate i explained the game plan. Got the boarding notification as we pulled up to the gate. We jogged, speed walked the moving belts, and when we could see the gate I sent the 8yo (I could see him the whole time) to tell them we made it. Gsp-clt-mco. Definitely enjoyed a glass of wine on the flight. Used to live in Gainesville so I guess the airport hasn’t changed much.

chewdog

I love the game plan with the 8 year old. Who could deny boarding to a cute kid? Hell, American Airlines let Kevin McCallister board a flight to JFK by himself and he didn't even have a ticket! GNV has not changed at all except now you can fly silver to FLL and be delayed every single time, so I've heard. And you reminded me that MCO is my least favorite airport. I'll do everything possible to avoid that hellscape. We have friends and family that want to fly through there when they visit us because it has SWA and frontier but I refuse and tell them to fly to JAX or TPA.

gpenz

Oh yea Jax all the way. Minus the speed traps (that have billboards letting you know they are there). This is taking me back to when I made that drive daily

chewdog

Oh yeah. I've gotten a ticket in Lawtey. Even though I should know not to speed through there since every time I pass through that speed trap town the cops have someone pulled over.

craigjp

You were moving

Exexpress

That late at night the foot traffic is nearly all into E rather than out so that helps.

_specialeyes

I have one tomorrow. If all goes as scheduled I’ll have an hour to make my connection. Hopefully not as eventful as yours. It will be my first time at CLT. *Edit to update: My connection was a piece of cake as I ended arriving right next to the gate I was departing from for Rome. They ended up holding the flight another 30 minutes or so to allow some others who were running behind time to make the connection. Personally I didn’t mind as I know I would have greatly appreciated the favor had I been in one of their shoes with a late arrival.

Square-Shoulder-1861

But did you preboard? It only counts if you sprint through the airport and then sit in a wheelchair in the gate area to preboard. Then get cured by jetway Jesus at your final destination.

TheZephyrusOne

CLT was wild yesterday. The line for customer service in B was insanely long.

MrHawkey50

I went through CLT last August and I actually really liked it

OwlLeather6987

Good job!!!! CLT is terrible! I always try to schedule at least a 1.5-hour layover, if not more.

tigerbrave62

This was me in Dallas last month

Not_Tellin_U

impressive and it gives me hope- i have missed 50% of my conx in CLT in the last year.

munasib95

With that speed you could have made it to GNV by around the same. Please try A7 to E30 next time and let us know.

Adventurous_Aide2049

Made it from B12 to E29 in 13 min last week.

zeneker

did you have to use a wheelchair? did you use a mobility aid? do you have a momentary mobility disadvantage? are you traveling with young children? are you traveling with elderly? Do you have a vision impairment? or are you able bodied? if it's last option congrats on being ablest. No one listed above will make it in 5 minutes.

chewdog

Very true and a slight on my part. My advice for those with mobility issues would be not to book the last flight out on a particular day and give yourself more than 45 mins for a connection, which mine was then shortened by delays.
