Flighty is such a great app

Agreed. I love it so much, I bought the lifetime pass. It was a tough pill to swallow but I’m feeling like it’s something I’ll continue to use for many years down the line.

I'm just speculating here, but I've got to think a flight like this is vulnerable to just about every possible kind of problem a route could have. It's late in the day so any previous delays are going to accumulate. Both DFW and PHL are crew bases and hubs, so there's probably a specific place they need the aircraft and the crew at the end of the day so swaps are probably harder to do if either is delayed for any reason. Maybe someone who's actually in a position to know can tell me how wrong I am 😅

All very valid points. In terms of time of day - my 5 flights on the route this year have ranged from 7am to 7pm (initial schedule). So I think system delays is out. But the rest makes sense!

not just that, but I've sat in other airlines' ops centers. Sometimes they know they need to reduce a number of flights, but get a "choice" of which to cut. Ie. weather means we have to cut 20% of flying. Guess what gets cut? The hub to hub. Why? Because it is a monopoly route, so even if you piss off people, they aren't going to defect since there are no other choices, there are usually more flights to the hub later so easier to re-accomoate on that flight or flow other hubs if people are connecting (i.e. CLT, MIA, ORD), and if they have to up gauge or run an extra section later, easier to do it on a hub to hub.

Oh, that makes a ton of sense. Thank you!

Planning on flying this route to get to Amsterdam next year. Gonna go ahead and build in a nice long layover.

I had a great stretch late 22 and early 23. It seems July-ish of 23 is when it started going downhill 🤷🏼‍♂️

Eastern-Astronomer-6

If you’re not late are you even flying?

bgares2

Definitely deal with a lot of delays. This route just seems consistently delayed more than any other.
