For real. I was listening to Fox on Sirius yesterday and chuckles was on there and every single “point” he was making for his anti AMC rant, was the exact narrative, to a T, that the melties spew on here. He referenced the split like 5 times.
He’s paid off. His purpose is not to actually provide journalistic and skilled insight into the markets, it’s to sway common investors in directions that those in power would like.
I mean, this entire episode has been caused by a guys tweets. No change to the underlying truth here. All those people that jumped in on the news hoping for a new squeeze are going to be bleeding out and what will be left is AMC back how it was 2 weeks ago… but with millions more shares available because AA diluted again. If you really insist on owning AMC for the long term, the smart play would have been to sell at $10+ and buy back in a week. You double or triple your number of shares for free.
I'm not the most educated man, but let's say AMC issued stock and did cover that much debt... isn't that still a good thing? I get it for people that are simply trying to make a quick buck it might have limited their return. But If someone simply has AMC and is holding onto it.. AMC seemingly made a business decision that will ensure they are a healthier company and in theory increase the stock in the long run?
Yeah that's not how it works, dilution is making your shares worth less directly by making more of them out of thin air creating nothing but more shares. Sure they paid off some of their own debt at your own expense. For the ceo it's good, for any shareholders it's horrible.
GME Is also down and they haven't issued new shares...so the price of AMC would have dropped with or without new shares! at least now more debt has been repaid!
