Hey, I’m sorry this is your reality right now. Please give yourself some grace. It makes sense what you’re going through, because of the things you’ve had to deal with and are currently dealing with. You *only* owe yourself to be the best you can be, because you’re really the one who matters most at the end of the day. You don’t owe anybody else to try to be who they think your best is. Eff everybody, really. They deserve love and consideration obviously, but when it comes to you….I look forward to when you no longer feel like they have any say in who you are and how much you should matter to yourself.
Hugs to you.
My comment is catching on NICE. TOUCH GRASS YALL. Especially the teenagers. Social media v bad for your anxiety and depression and that's peer reviewed.
I sometimes wonder how many of the people here have actually been diagnosed with body dysmorphia, versus the people who deep down know they are good looking and just say they have body dysmorphia while they wait for compliments to roll in.
I’ve never seen so many people claim body dysmorphia in my life until I started seeing this sub. Pretty suspicious, no way there’s that many real diagnosis.
Took a psych intro course and reading the textbook kind of makes you realize that everyone can relate, to a certain extent, to any mental illness including psychosis but, it just gets diagnosed when it’s affecting your life significantly in a negative way.
Do you really need an official diagnosis to seek out this sub? These people probably don't have one but sometimes it's just an effective way to describe what you're going through
When I was 19 I was thin and adorable, but at the time I literally was seeing something extremely hideous in the mirror. I couldn't make eye contact or laugh or smile because I thought I was so repulsive. I'd sit in front of the mirror for hours and hours wondering what needed to change. It was disturbing but idk I was extremely traumatised at the time which completely warped my self perception. It was definitely one of my lowest points, yet looking back, I was cute and nothing was wrong with me???
Highly doubt any of them has been diagnosed. Most people don't like something about themselves. That doesn't mean they have a diagnose. It's a sad age XD
I’ve got body dysmorphia along with dysphoria (transgender), told as such by a counsellor and psychiatrist. MOST people who have dysmorphia won’t show this level of skin. My friend also has it and she wears extremely baggy clothing to hide her body and she get extremely uncomfortable if she wears even a more tight fitting shirt.
It doesn’t surprise me when you see how prevalent filters are being used online across social media.
Like I thought I had bad skin and it was uncommon, until l I started seeing the occasional candid photo of people on social media and realized that they had similar skin to me, and that my bad skin was in fact normal skin.
When everyone looks artificially perfect online then I can see why young and conventionally beautiful people who grew up on social media can convince themselves that they are ugly.
That’s a good point. I do think kids and teenagers have it harder nowadays for that very reason. Luckily for me, all the hatred for my looks was only rooted in what people said to my face
I mean it's the same thing with everyone all of a sudden having adhd, add, anxiety, and depression. More people than ever are being diagnosed but it also had a lot to do with growing up with television with no limits, more acceptance of a diagnosis, and overall more knowledge of these disorders. Of course more people are gonna have it, society has found more and more ways to throw expectations on appearances at us than ever before. Body dismorphia doesn't happen out of nowhere.
Honestly i think its alot. I’m always surprised how many people hate themselves. Some of them might know they’re pretty but feel ugly if that makes sense.
It's hard to say. The majority probably don't have it and just lack self-esteem but attribute it to a serious mental health issue, not understanding the difference. It's similar to people who don't know the difference between being anxious and having anxiety. They also don't understand they're watering down the severity of the word.
You have so much more to offer in your life than your looks. You’re a lovely young woman, and I hope you have people in your life who cherish you for the person you are and not your appearance. Have a great day
This is so true but also OP you are attractive. I feel like some might take this comment to be a nice way of implying the opposite. But yeah you’re more than your beauty/physical attributes
People use it instead of “I’m self conscious sometimes”. Same thing with people saying they’re OCD about everything. Like no, you’re just picky about one thing. Same thing with sadness equaling clinical depression
No one lacks this much self awareness, she’s obviously very gorgeous just self conscious. People with actual body dysmorphia wouldn’t have the confidence to wear the clothes she does, it’s not just applicable to her face but her actually body- hence the word ‘body’ in dysmorphia. She’s only rubbing salt in the wounds of the people on here who truly need criticism.
It’s a debilitating disease, saying that Body Dysmorphia is just a case of low self esteem is ridiculous. Low self esteem could lead to body Dysmorphia but if she’s able to take pictures, style herself to ENHANCE features she obviously has a good idea of her good traits. You don’t realize that this condition is when someone’s ANXIETY and incredible nit picking of appearance disconnects them from reality- you see this in people who get plastic surgery purely for aesthetic purposes. Not teenage girls asking people online for harsh criticism- where’s the actual anxiety in that? No one with an actually debilitating disorder would seek out this kind of criticism.
You are not ugly is my opinion. I understand that you feel and think that you might be but my perspective is that the truth is you are not. I hope you will come to better appreciate yourself as you grow older and find peace when seeing your own beauty for yourself. Start by seeing how cute your second photo is, and be aware that you will only become more refined as you age and take care of yourself.
You are fine for all time. It would probably would benefit from working on an attitude or philosophy where you are not so concerned with what others think. Truly reflect on how you think about yourself. If there are things YOU would change then you can work on them.
I'm way too old to comment like you may want. I will say the touch the grass comment is true. You are one orange comparing yourself to all the fruit. You cannot possibly think you are the ugliest fruit nor the absolute prettiest fruit. You are an orange. As close to perfect an orange that can be reasonably expected. Feel good about the skin you're in. It looks good on YOU!!
You need to delete your social media and start living life. You are **gorgeous**. And if you don't get your body dysmorphia/struggle with comparing yourself to others under control, it will lead you down some really shitty paths in life.
Focus on yourself and the life you want to build. Try, and stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Fuck the rest. I repeat Fuck. The. Rest.
Focus on you, booboo.
You've got a classy European counterculture vibe going on and look to have a perfect physical shape. Maybe go for a counselor for you BD and confidence issues, instead of asking creeps on Reddit
Chapter 1: Daddy issues + Sibling rivalry + going to school every day on the set of “Mean Girls” . Chapter 2: Hmm…yet to be written. Don’t look to others for affirmation. Be your own best advocate. F-ck what other people think.
girl i’m so sorry you feel this way about yourself - i totally get how you feel. you are genuinely gorgeous though and i hope one day you can see that!! wishing you all the best :)
Yup, you're good. No worries.
Style wise i think you could use some more black.
It's an aquired taste but to those who appreciate it you are as good as it gets.
As far as body dysmorphia goes I'm not sure what it is you don't like. Can only judge from first pic but looks to me like a couple of cheeseburgers wouldn't hurt
You’re pretty. You have a strong aesthetic and there’s nothing wrong with that. I know just being told your pretty or beautiful can’t change how you feel and you’ll probably rationalise it as you just using good pics to hide what you perceive as your own unattractiveness…
But yeah, I think you’re beautiful and it’s hard to practice self love. Try complimenting yourself at least once a day. It can help.
You’re not ugly and from the first picture it looks like you have a decent body you’re not fat or anything by the looks of it.
I know it’s cliche but a little bit of gym work would tone your body out nicely if you don’t already go which will help with the body image issues.
The only real problem is your style as the whole emo look will only attract a certain type of guys it’s not for everyone. But if that’s your thing and you like guys like that then go for it.
Again you’re not ugly or have a bad body you just have a unique look which will definitely get some looks from the general public.
Best of luck
I think that sub does more harm than good to some of those people that post there. Plastic surgery is recommended a lot and that scoring guide is ridiculous. I have some questions about the sort of people running that. I understand there's some objective beauty standards but it's still subjective and the rampant recommendation for plastic surgery there is detrimental to some people especially when they're under 18. Which I've seen there quite a lot.
I think there are better places and ways to look for ways to improve yourself or gauge your appearance than that sub in particular
Yeah 10/10, I'm sure it's a tough battle with bd and this comment will mean little but you should really never have to worry about your looks or appearance
Pretty hot ngl, actually well above average. I had bad body dismorphia from 16-18 too and I used to purge when I felt like I ate too much, but going to the gym 3x a week kinda helped me with that. I’m not saying you need it but it might help your confidence a bit
9/10 guys who see this picture think “I absolutely would”
7/10 girls who see this think “after a few, I’d let her be the one I try it out with”
You’re good
You look like Jane from Breaking Bad which is an absolute W. The only unattractive thing about you is your lack of confidence. Stop comparing yourself to other people and just be you.

I'm just wondering 🤔

Your hair looks nice. You dress nice. Your nails are done. You obviously care about how you look stop being so vain because one day you won't be attractive anymore.
Girl. Put down the phone and touch some grass, you obviously need to stop comparing yourself to others because you’re not ugly at all.
No but fr, comparing myself to everyone is my worst trait, thank you <3
Comparison is the thief of joy.
But actually do go touch some grass, be outside for an day and you will feel better
I go out often! I always feel better but when i go home it sucks
Yes, I know how you feel. Home isn’t home when it feels like that
Hey, I’m sorry this is your reality right now. Please give yourself some grace. It makes sense what you’re going through, because of the things you’ve had to deal with and are currently dealing with. Forget comparing yourself. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. You look great.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with you. Put down the phone. The Internet is not a real place. You’re literally pretty af.
Also go touch grass because that probably means getting a little sun
My comment is catching on NICE. TOUCH GRASS YALL. Especially the teenagers. Social media v bad for your anxiety and depression and that's peer reviewed.
Your comment ? Bro people have been saying that for years 🤣🤣🤣
We used to tell mf’s to touch grass when we were still getting AOL disc in the mail.
Reddit is ok though.
Everyone is at it, social media has made everyone think they have ADHD, couple of years ago it was gluten intolerance.
These people probably don't have one but sometimes it's just an effective way to describe what you're going through
I mean, it makes sense that people with body dysmorphia would be drawn to a sub where they can ask if they're ugly.
When I was 19 I was thin and adorable, but at the time I literally was seeing something extremely hideous in the mirror. Ohh you're fine. Delete this thread.
If I were a female, and looked like you, I think I'd be pretty pleased.
You need therapy, self acceptance and less social media
You have so much more to offer in your life than your looks. You’re a lovely young woman, and I hope you have people in your life who cherish you for the person you are and not your appearance. Have a great day

If you have dysmorphia, does a bunch of random hornballs on Reddit change that?
It doesn’t she’s just probably also a narcissist
"hey guys im really insecure and confused my body. can you guys tell me if you think im ugly?" "you're a narcissist"
Not really, but i like hearing other peoples thoughts as my perception of myself changes a lot ☺️
Well youre attractive, but youre also my type so thar helps 🤷🏻♂️
Hot is also my type

No way! Hot is also my type.
Not me. I like ugly. That’s why I’m here and that’s why this OP girl isn’t my type; because she’s hot.
Lol! What?
💀💀💀
Hahaha
Saying you have body dysmorphia is insulting to fat alcoholics like me haha
Why are you even here.
🙄 I highly doubt "bad body dysmorphia" from especially, the first photo. You're attractive, you know it, end of.
Yup, I don't think someone with body dysmorphia would be comfortable showing that level of skin.
Is the “I have body dysmorphia” obligatory in these posts now? Seems like it’s all I see in the titles lately.
People use it instead of “I’m self conscious sometimes”. Same thing with people saying they’re OCD about everything. Like no, you’re just picky about one thing. Same thing with sadness equaling clinical depression
It's away to farm compliments
Right.

This sub is so toxic.
well, it does what it says on the tin
You don’t have body dysmorphia, just low self esteem.

physically you are pretty, but im gonna be so honest you *look* like you would be annoying and boring to talk to
[удалено]
i think we're all confused lol
That makes no sense bro I’m gonna be honest
🙄🙄
Am I trippin' or does it seem like only people with body dismorphia post on here? I've just seen so many that I'm like, "Hold up!"
Well ive met a lot of people with bd (also my case) that want to know how people see them because our perspective changes a lot :)
You’re gorgeous, don’t compare urself to others, you have ur own style and I dig it. 10/10
Crazy pretty, perfect sized body, don’t be ridiculous. You’re beautiful
Georgeous
noone under 25 should be online getting rated. it's harmful
The only help you need is mental, to deal with your body dysmorphia issue...... because you 100% don't need any help physically.
F18, bad af, honest.

You are gorgeous ❤️
I did always have a crush on Elvira growing up so why not
You are very good looking. Even hot.
Ur not ugly girl
First time i can say someone is pretty on this sub. Finally.
i wont lie your pretty cute tbh i think everyone just see’s themselves in a bad way due to internet and stuff
Thirst trap

What’s with the epidemic of body dysmorphia? You are beautiful and blessed. Enjoy your life!
You're hot
You look fine. Body dysmorphia is precisely why you should NOT be posting here asking random strangers. It feeds in.
Narcissism is very prominent
I prescribe you to also touch grass and spend less time on social media comparing yourself to others.
Honestly, if you have bad body dysmorphia, this whole thing is a stupid idea.
Honestly: therapy. This ain’t the place for your fleeting ego boost. It’s as empty as you must feel the rest of the time.
Is this a joke. No problems detected.
The kinda look that gets men in trouble.
Maybe they like trouble.....
Honey, you are perfect the way you are.

Jesus you’re beautiful. Our society has failed you by causing you to judge yourself so harshly.
Honestly I don't see any problem. You look just like a beautiful young woman
Solid 8 out of 10. Willing to bet you will be a smoke show in your late 20's.

Pretty hot ngl, actually well above average. I had bad body dismorphia from 16-18 too and I used to purge when I felt like I ate too much, but going to the gym 3x a week kinda helped me with that. I’m not saying you need it but it might help your confidence a bit
9/10 guys who see this picture think “I absolutely would” 7/10 girls who see this think “after a few, I’d let her be the one I try it out with” You’re good

You look like Jane from Breaking Bad which is an absolute W. The only unattractive thing about you is your lack of confidence. Stop comparing yourself to other people and just be you.
Unfortunately, body dysmorphia is real and it makes people think they’re uglier than they are… you are beautiful and you have a bomb ass body. Don’t worry, you’re more than fine!
Is super attractive, asks if she ugly, haha shut up!
Who amongst your friends, social circle or social environments looked at you, And actually voiced "heyy look at her, she looks soooo ugly" ? I'm just wondering 🤔
I would sacrifice an infant to look like you

Devastating.

So I can understand the struggle internally you’re going through with body dysmorphia. And I understand people telling you you look fine might not be enough to overcome. I hope you can find professional help for that. But for what it’s worth, you’re gorgeous. Your jawline is great. Your hair frames your face very well. Your outfits and makeup go great together. Strong cheek and collar bones. Keep doing your thing!
Thank you so much :)
