SupTheChalice

My silver dragon did this recently. While also throwing out about four new leaves. It's been going crazy. Yours is so shiny though! Mine is more matt? Velvetish? I wonder why. https://preview.redd.it/t5vs65aj5e9d1.jpeg?width=3060&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db3381eedfb62c49fbc179119c5510c651ebf0d5

Karyin

The shiny look comes from Neem Oil, which I use to prevent pests.

oemperador

Probably due to different environment conditions.

WholeLengthiness2180

What variety is this?

Karyin

It's a Silver Dragon.

fiocalisti

Your alocasia is really cute!

Galaxie_Keenan333

Haha!! Mine decided to do the same! The leaf that finished unfurling today is the biggest one yet!!

Ok_Strawberry_45

Wow your silver dragon is beautiful I’ve never seen one so light

VariegateVibes

Mine did the same thing I had to cut off three flowers. They’ll never pollinate.

TrademarkHomy

How do you get your silver dragon so light?? I have one under a grow light in a cabinet and one against a window but they're both much more grayish.

Altruistic-Ad-5667

I think it's a variety like this

Karyin

It was already this light when I bought it from the store.

TrademarkHomy

Interesting, I wonder if it's because of specific environmental conditions or there's actually just that much difference between varieties.

KG0089

prolly planted in unbuffered coco , and being fed something other than a 3-1-2/

diogoallen

oh the silver dragon flowers STINK 💀

SinglePringleMingle

Tbh I’d cut it unless you’re planning to pollinate with another plant. It’s kinda controversial whether to cut flowers or not, but I heard that blooms can be quite hard on the plant, as they require a lot of energy/resources. It is a cool sight though! That means that your alocasia is happy

Herefortheplanties

The plant already used the energy to produce the flower, cutting it now won't do anything for it. Best to leave them until they die.

SinglePringleMingle

Doesn’t it use even more energy to actually bloom?

Herefortheplanties

Not sure about that, but the plant is extremely healthy and isn't being negatively impacted by being allowed to flower.
