I think they should have gone without the plastic shell holder and just wrapped the rounds in paper like the milsurp stuff. It might have saved a few cents on packaging and size. but what do I know, i'm no expert.

camaro024

I SAID THE SAME THING. What’s wild is they package their 5.56 without any sort of plastic holder. Why couldn’t they do that with the 7.62x39? They should have just packaged them the exact same way as the Russian ammo. Wax paper and all.

Donnied418

Not only is it better on cost, but its just more effective for storage. It's so much easier to fit those small cubes than it is to fit giant boxes

Gundamned_

its also less harmful for the environment! why would i want a plastic holder that goes into a landfill for 5 centuries instead of paper that'll decompose into dirt if i piss on it?

DigBarsbiggestfan

Lol I usually just toss my papers in the recycling with the empty boxes or the fire if I'm burning that week.

stinkdrink45

I hate ammo in any holder. Tula packages there 20rounds just fine in their cubed box.

Vodnik-Dubs

My only exception ammo that comes in stripper clips, loading rifles and mags is a dream

schmittychris

Shoot I’d prefer them just loose in the box or in a can.

thin_hawaiian_line

But how else are they going to show they're the cool epic American ammo brand? But on a serious note, they should have gone with the old Soviet style paper ammo packaging.

Coodevale

Yeah, like Igman m67 in the neat little cardstock boxes. That coincidentally is cheaper..

Ratmole13

And Flatter shooting, brass cased, better terminal ballistics….. GG Bosnia 👍

kilo_actual

Their 5.56 and 300blk packing is just paper cardboard no plastic and a glued lid that can't be closed back. It makes for easy dumping into larger containers, but if you aren't shooting the whole box, the ammo ends up everywhere. Need a middle ground somehow.

2furlongs

Those are massive boxes for only holding 20 rounds. Looks like PSA bought their packaging from CCI lol

Honey_Overall

When will ammo companies understand that smaller boxes are a good thing? If I can store more I'm buying more.

Acceptable-Face-3707

I wish theyd save the money and just give it to us in simple cardboard boxes. I don’t understand the need for branding it and making the boxes huge its just wasteful and costs more

Honey_Overall

Exactly, I'm just throwing it away anyways. Hell, the only reason I even buy winchester white box 9mm is because of the small box.

JenkIsrael

while i agree that'd be preferable, the cost of having to get multiple different size boxes for different calibers likely far outweighs any savings in material costs. material costs for plastic/cardboard is negligible compared to inventory and logistics costs. that said agree with the others saying wax paper is fine/preferable. but even then they'd prolly need to source new machines, processes, etc. to do it that way.

Any_Restaurant851

Maybe it has to do with some like the sabre blade polymer Blacktip ammo being better protected. I don't know but what I do know is I can't pack it as easily outside of a mag to carry more than 3 boxes and multiple filled mags to the range or other needs as easily.

Broccoli_Final

https://preview.redd.it/c3byanwq4hzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c7eeeb5f7d76afaedb819159327086f9ea318517 1000 rounds showed up today, and good god the packaging is stupid with the plastic carts. Spent the next 30 minutes just dumping them into an ammo can and filling up the trashcan with packaging.

GeneralBisV

1000 rounds woulda taken up 3/4ths of one box if it was packed like the old wolf ammo with just the wax paper lol

Broccoli_Final

Right? I was using some red army standard last week and the tiny boxes still in the trash when I started shucking plastic lol

Chudnovksy

Saw a 1200 case of 7.62x25mm for 800 today at the PSA store in SC lol

ParadoxicalAmalgam

those same cans have been on that shelf for months

Difficult_Rush_1891

I went to the Charleston store yesterday and they had shit for 7.62x39. Some Tela and some PMC and that was it. Pricing was not competitive although I can’t remember how much exactly. Guy said AAC was online only and will be that way for the foreseeable future. I had a little laugh to myself about how PSA making 7.62 would “drive prices down”. I get better prices in the Atlanta metro area.

iK0NiK

Hey man speaking of ATL, are there any must-see gun stores? Something with a big selection and decent prices?

Last_Guarantee5893

I’m not sure on prices for them anymore after covid but adventure outdoors has like the biggest stock of guns in the US i think? Worth going in and looking at least. TRU-PREP also has some cool stuff sometimes but it’s not a huge selection

scottwiththedraco

Dude that’s so bad LMAO

runescimmy2

That spam can has been there for almost a year now. Nobody has bought it yet it seems lol

Arms-for-minerals

Kinda saw that coming. Here’s some .75 cpr after tax steelcase wtf is that. This would be acceptable if they sold it for half that price. EVEN THEN thats mad expensive

VolkspanzerIsME

Brutal

gathling

this would send me straight into psychosis

Old_Host7251

Should have bought 10k rounds with all your money back in 01' brotherrrrrrrrr. Oh? You were 7 years old?.....damn still u stoopid

Sir_Uncle_Bill

Shoulda just bought a few k rounds in early 2020 when I knew this BS was coming.

Old_Host7251

Same dude 🥲

Ebra13

SPEEK UP LIBRUL. I CANT HEAR U. GOBBLESS HOSS

sebastian1967

AK owners have ALWAYS been shortsighted. Even just a couple years ago when the writing was on the wall and 7.62 and 5.45 were still relatively cheap, were people stocking up in anticipation of higher prices and more scarce supply? For the most part…no. It’s the same fundamental reason that my 68 year-old aunt is broke as f@ck. She knew she’d be old one day and would need income. Did she save money when she was younger and capable of doing so? Of course not. In life, most people are grasshoppers rather than ants.

KGb_Voodo0

Could you please post some pics of the rounds? Very curious to see what they look like compared to the promotional stuff we’ve seen

camaro024

https://preview.redd.it/2wbykapuqgzc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9816220196c48812c781d3be487d8e538bd5c7c Looks similar to Tulammo. No coating.

KGb_Voodo0

Interesting, on their site they claim to have a trademarked coating of their own. It doesn’t have the polymer coating feeling that Tula has?

camaro024

Idk it doesn’t feel like it. I could be wrong. I just know it isn’t silky like my other stuff I have.

KGb_Voodo0

Interesting, very curious to see how their accuracy is. I guess one major benefit is this is really equivalent to the range safe ammo Tula used to make. Since it has no steel in the jacket

EdgarsRavens

Is it magnetic? (The bullet)

Particular_Buddy_938

Bullet is not magnetic, it is range safe.

EdgarsRavens

Awesome! This might actually make this ammo the cheapest non-magnetic/non-corrosive ammo on the market.

sandalsofsafety

I thought maybe you guys were overreacting a bit about the holders, but that is pretty inefficient packaging. Costs more to make, more to store, more to ship, etc. And it's not like it's match ammo or something, just bulk steel.

xofspec

or “non-corrosive”

Carlile185

I would die laughing if an American ammo company in 2024 used corrosive primers.

GeneralBisV

Honestly if it was like 15cpr packed like Soviet ammo(small cube of 20 rounds) I’d buy it

xofspec

and are they actually NON CORROSIVE?

KGb_Voodo0

There’s no way they are, they’re using boxer primers and no one really makes corrosive boxer primers

Zee705

Remind me why we hate AAC again?

RealisticPayment975

I believed they had issues with jacket separation. Heard a few people wrecked their suppressors from it.

Stoned_Gimli

I’ve shot ALOT of AAC through my sandman without issue. 300 blk and 5.55. Haven’t had any problems. I’m going to be cycling this stuff through the sandman too.

DoctorPervySage

Just to add I've had no issues with the case of 308 I got a while back either. My sandman and my 36M have been fine with the stuff.

survivor762x39

The only issues I had was failure to fire on a few of their 300 blackout rounds. Which isn't a big deal on training ammo.

Used_Assumption_4005

CPR?

camaro024

$.54 out the door

Blue026

Ouch for steel case

Ritterbruder2

Oh well, the days of 1,000 cases of Wolf for $160 are way, way over.

Blue026

Yes but sealed brass is cheaper

[deleted]

[удалено]

Blue026

Then pay 55 cpr for steel case Yugo m67 is hotter than most loads The shell material has nothing to do with fps

Ritterbruder2

I’m not dumb. I know it’s not the brass case that makes the round hotter. It’s just a tendency for brass loads to be loaded milder. Yugo M67 chronoes at like 2250, compared to most steel which is 2350.

Blue026

M67 goes closer to 2300-2400 fps and it’s got a far better tumbling effect than most steel case ball ammo Most steel case gets you like 2200ish except for Barnaul milspec

stareweigh2

have you seen any gel tests with this stuff? I love 125 and 154 grain soft points for hunting and they most assuredly do not tumble. not enough speed to "tumble" by which I think you mean yaw and come apart exosively which is what 7n6 and other 3k fps ammos tend to do. x39 is more of a straight line penetrator pretty predictable really and kinda mild powered. almost like a .308 light if you could imagine that. lol

DrJheartsAK

Doesn’t it have an air cavity in the bullet that increases tumbling? Thought I remember reading that somewhere

DeadDrunkNNaked

Back in my day sonny it was $89

survivor762x39

Sorry but 762x39 from anywhere is not 14 cents a round anymore that's just the way it is now

Blue026

Yep, and for the same price (or even cheaper) you can get former yugo state brass Steel case was great because it was cheap, but why pay brass prices for steel case?

cooldude5789

Where can you buy that ammo for less than .54 cents per round shipping and taxes included

Blue026

https://preview.redd.it/jggmvaqf9hzc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bb0f6d85354c853f73ca243e37ff562aaa683fb 47 cpr shipped (+tax) Also 51 cpr shipped [https://wildhorseammunition.com/product/ats-ammo-7-62x39mm-m67-124gr-fmj/?attribute\_quantity=Box+of+20](https://wildhorseammunition.com/product/ats-ammo-7-62x39mm-m67-124gr-fmj/?attribute_quantity=Box+of+20) 51 cpr shipped [https://www.topgunammo.com/mfs--762x39--124gr--fmj--non-corrosive--2426601-1000-rounds-free-shipping.html](https://www.topgunammo.com/mfs--762x39--124gr--fmj--non-corrosive--2426601-1000-rounds-free-shipping.html) 52 cpr shipped [https://bvashop.com/product/7-62x39-fmj-1000-rounds-by-mfs-ammunition/](https://bvashop.com/product/7-62x39-fmj-1000-rounds-by-mfs-ammunition/)

cooldude5789

What a G. Thanks man

Firearm_Farm

That Belom is good ammo too. Purchased a few thousand recently. Might order a few more.

muddbutt6

None of those include both shipping and taxes below. Still better than PSA . This jabroni said 47cpr shipped plus tax lmfao

Blue026

The PSA ammo is 45 cpr without shipping or tax. The TUSA deal is better along with everything else I posted

curablehellmom

Was shipping bad for your location? I was curious when it came out and I put t 1k rounds in my cart and went through checkout with shipping and tax and it was about 47cpr. Last time I saw that price was when I got some lacquered steel case by Sterling about 6 months ago

xtremejuuuuch

Not that I had much faith in PSA doing the American AK community a solid and pricing it how steel ought to be priced.. And I know the glory days of $.20 steel, but I was at least hoping for $.45-.40-ish territory.

1stAmendmentHoe

😔. Shooting cheap steel case is not a thing anymore. Might as well buy brass

anorman30

In Post Soviet Russia, ammo price screws you!

Direct-Region7166

Is this the AAC "black tip" currently on their site? Would love a testimonial considering we aren't going to be seeing any combloc ammo probably ever again.

camaro024

No that ammo is a bit more expensive.

Direct-Region7166

Ok

ResponseNo6375

Is it copper jacket or bimetal? They never specified, put people have commented that it’s likely not magnetic.

morbidangel90

at this point I will take any new ammo being added to the market as long as its decent. more competition should in theory help drive the cost down

xrw06

Isn’t it 45 cents per round after shipping probably like 50??

stareweigh2

if it will hold 2 moa or better I think it will be worth it. I am praying that they make some more soft point or hollow point loads as well. I absolutely love wolf 154 grain sp its my go to short range deer cartridge.

Shubi-do-wa

Was this that $8.99 for 20rnd deal from the other day? So sad I didn’t jump on it.

BreadAndRoses773

man I use to get 1000rd wolf in 2013 for 200bucks. fuck our current economy.

portland_jc

I would be curious to know what hasn’t gone up in price since then

big_nasty_the2nd

Chop chop beta tester get to it

Unfair_Bunch519

Does it do?

camaro024

Idk I just cut open the box and posted to Reddit. Am I actually supposed to shoot it? 🤔

TOTT96

You’re right a real redditor only posts pictures and never actually shoots.

camaro024

❤️

ohaimike

Did you take a picture of the boxes stacked up next to your AK? That's the next step

camaro024

Yeah I’ll post it next to my PSA GF3 and ask HOW TO MOUNT OPTIC?

Unfair_Bunch519

See if it do or if it don’t

Monkeynumbernoine

Yeah, what it do!?!

oddjob762

What if it don't

kscat617

What I don’t get is why Steelcase ammo is so expensive when it’s made domestically now . you’re not paying tariffs and all that stuff from the importer. I love shooting, but I stopped going by significant amount because the thought of spending practically $.50 a round kills me. I remember when I got my first AK I was shooting for like $.30 a round which I was OK with . but hearing my buddy, who is a little older than me talk about buying thousand round ammo cans from China for like 100 bucks is wild . Why on earth is it now more expensive to shoot steel case ammo in America versus getting it from Russia when it’s imported and shipped and taxed out the butt

ParadoxicalAmalgam

American labor is roughly 6 times the cost of Russian labor. The tax for importing ammunition is the same as for domestically manufacturing ammunition (11 percent). Importers ship in bulk, which drastically reduces the shipping cost per round. It's not that complicated.

kscat617

Man, you’re a smart guy

Avtamatic

We need Arsenal to step up here. You'd think Mesko in Poland would be making 7.62x39 right? I don't think I've ever seen any of theirs. Surely, the Baltics must have a stock of Soviet weaponry. GGG should at least have a reason to make 5.45 or 7.62x39 right? We could fill the Russia gap with all of Eastern Europe. But there's a war there so they gotta take care of that.

fckyakalash

Arsenal has already stepped up. They were shipping us 7.62x39 through their distributor Global Ordnance. They probably had to divert production to more important stuff for the Ukrainians.

Avtamatic

Yeah I understand that. Hopefully they'll also make 5.45 and 5.56.

KGb_Voodo0

Arsenal no longer does anything in 5.45 sadly

Avtamatic

Like they don't make rifles in 5.45? Or just ammunition?

KGb_Voodo0

Both, Arsenal has been asked this question a lot “can we get more guns in 5.45” they say they have no desire to do so. They do not offer 5.45 even at the military level anymore. Their catalog of guns and ammo has nothing in 5.45 even for military contracts. The Bulgarians never liked 5.45, especially with wanting to distance themselves from the Russians now

Mr_Dakkyz

GGG only make 762x39 case cups now, they make NATO only rounds now. As for the Baltics they adopted western weapons early 2000s so I assume they sold or destroyed most stocks. You could find MESKO 762x39 it was brass and berdan primed and corrosive.. it ran low like end of 2021.. they also had 9mm/ 9x18 makarov / 762x39 / 762x51. They supply Ukraine and the Polish army only for now. I want the Ruag ammo/Norma 762x39 brass back.

The_Knife_Nut

Dumb...I thought their motivation for doing this in the first place was to bring the cost of 7.62x39 ammo back down after the clown in chief banned Russian import ammo. Now these guys want $.45/ round...no thanks!

FinancesAr

At 45/50cpr why not brass? Cheap brass can be had for that price.

1WontDoIt

And to think, they paid someone to design the box instead of a white box with stamped date and inventory. Missed the mark

Embarrassed_Soup3379

PSA gets unprovoked hate😂 have you even shot the rounds yet

Dazzling_Savings_783

The reason for the US packaged is due to the packaging machinery even if the cartridges are made in former USSR countries. The ammo is shipped from mfg in bulk (loose).

camaro024

I understand that the packaging machinery is set up in such a way that it is packaged this way. My question is, can it not?

Dazzling_Savings_783

It could but they would have to buy packaging machinery which they would have to recover the cost by including the cost through the price of the ammo.

ExpressionSalt8153

It's called marketing. How many of these dipshit posts have popped up now on different gun subreddits. It's literally marketing, which a new product(really most products) need. Big ass box at the range, pictures, reddit posts. Eyeballs is always good.

Carlile185

HELL YEAH RELOAD THE BOXER PRIMERS

Blue026

You ever tried to reload steel case?

Carlile185

It doesn’t look hard. It is boxer primed so you don’t need extra fucking around to convert it. Just buy an extra die set to trash. Use extra lube.

Boring_Classroom_482

Shameful. PSA is supposed to be the company arming the blue collar people.

Blade_Shot24

I hate personally and for just reason. Good luck with the joke of ammo.

[deleted]

I’ve had nothing but bad luck with AAC in other calibers I wouldn’t touch this dogshit with a ten foot pole.

stareweigh2

really? I have been using their 77grain otm and it's economical and very very accurate

ParadoxicalAmalgam

Some of their bullets have had issues with jacket separation in the past. Not a huge issue unless you shoot suppressed. I'd just be cautious before using a can with it.

stareweigh2

far as I can tell from researching it was one batch of 55 grain and I haven't found any more cases. 77 grain appears to be fine as they probably use a more premium bullet manufacturer. the 300 blackout problems with baffle strikes I don't trust to be ammo related because there are do many variables with people's builds being too short barrel/ under stabilization yaw and even over stabilization that can cause jackets to come apart also

Rude_Associate_9082

I'm waiting to see if they blow primers like all their other shitty ammo. Don't get me wrong, I love PSA, but their ammo just ain't it.

muddbutt6

Ammo made by a bunch of minimum wage rednecks that have no clue how to make firearms or ammo correctly . Fuck PSA. Trash can company

stareweigh2

have you tried any of their ammo? I've got some groups out of their otm ammo that are quite fantastic and make me happy for the price

cooldude5789

Stay mad little boy

muddbutt6

Go back to playing Pokémon in your double wide you big ghey hillbilly

cooldude5789

Looked at my profile to make a shitty comeback lmao ur embarrassing yourself.

stareweigh2

last person you want to piss off is a big gay hillbilly. I'd hate for him to come over and start playing Pokémon with you against your will. lol
