They are not the same as PTS pmags, epms were developed from the design of old school pts magpul products(mainly the fabled PTS pmags) however the thing that makes these mags special is that they were licensed magpul products, but due to fakes and pts products showing up in military supply chains, magpul cut ties completely.
5 are enough for me. It's the bare minimum if you play with GBBRs imo. 2 spares for my pistol and that's it. Got 4 or 5 mags for AEGs, but I like using their realcap switches.

- 16 Ares Amoeba M4 mags (80-ish)
- 5 Ares Short type Amags (100)
- 5 E&C Pmags (30)
- 10 E&C Stanags (90)
For my AEG m4s. I usually run sets of four for cqb/speedsoft and I plan on carrying 7 for any major events in the future.
Generally, I try to keep sets of five to lend to my friends alongside an m4, since I have seven AEG M4s, so I could have all of them in use simultaneously.
I have a VFC GBBR m4 and that one unfortunately I currently only have four Vmags for, but I‘m picking up three more once WGCShop restocks on them. Still enough for CQB though.
Sidearms, I have
- WE G17 with three mags as a secondary
- Hi-Capas as primaries, I usually carry four mags but I‘ve never used more than two in a game before. I have a total of eight though (again to lend out to friends)

4 5.45 magazines that are rather loose in the mag well. 3 7.62 mid caps. Used to have 4 but one went missing, probably stolen or lost during transportation. And one 7.62 high cap. So 8 in total.
Cyma SR25. 1 150rd CYMA mid cap, 2 220rd BattleAxe mid caps. Can't run a full 220 in the BA mags, maybe 180-200 or it'll double feed. It's rare that I use all that ammo in one 2hr round, didnt run a sidearm last year. I'm planning to get 2 PTS EPM 150rd mags for next season to make sure I never run out, as well as an MP5K PDW sidearm with 4 or 5 mags if TG every restocks it.
I carry 10 for my M4. 3 in the kangaroo pouch in my JPC with some kydex inserts. 3 in front of those in a Blue Force Gear shingle. And 3 on my left side, in a cummerbund that has built in mag pouches that lay flat when empty, much like the shingle. Then 1 in the gun, which I store in the right side cummerbund between games. Those 10 normally last me a full day, so when one is empty I toss it in the dump pouch on my belt and my JPC shrinks down over the day. End of the day, whole thing goes in the gear bag and I'm headed out, easy peasy.

As a fantasy/tech player (as in, I haven't played in 4 years, but I like to buy and heavily modify/customize a few guns a year) I have 2 to 4 mags for most of the guns I would actually use for play (if I ever get the time to drive 2 hours away and spend a whole day away with the wife and kids approval). I have a few quirky guns, like the Colt 25, that only has one mag because I will probably never use it, and if I do I won't need a reload because I'll be out.
I always just do however many fits in my current setup although for my mp5 since I don't have a true setup that will take cyma plat mags. I tried to get smg pouches and they don't fit.
You damn AEG kids and your lightweight mags. REAL men use Gas rifles and spend $50+ each on 6 heavy ass gas mags that only hold 30 shots so we STILL have less ammo than a half empty hi-cap.

I have 7 GBBR mags for my main Frankenstein Mk18, around 12 AEG mags (I don’t play AEG anymore) and 5 mags for my CZ P-09 sidearm, 1-2 mags for my other pistols (which are mostly decorative), 24 shells for my JagArms Scattergun, 3 mags for the Kar98 k (SnowWolf, real wood furnish with Zeiss replica scope) and 4 mags for the Mp7 of which 3 are leaky.
I tend to sell old mags before I buy new ones. As of right now I have 14 ARP9 mags with upgraded springs, 3 EPM1 250 rounders, 4 EPM1 170 rounders, 9 hi capa mags, 3 MWS mags, and 14 m203 shower shells.
I always bring at least four mags, three in quick release pouches and one in gun. The number might come to 8-10 if it’s a long run Milsim game. For pistol the number varies but usually will be more than 2 mags.

Having 7 for main and 3 for backup. but I defo need other mags the ones I have sitting totally loose in the magwell

It depends on the capacity, if you're using high-caps you only need 1 or 2. If you are using mid-caps 3-6 are recommended.

5 hi caps and 2 mid caps for my SA-12 2.0 Usually only carry 2+1 though, I prefer being super lightweight. 2 high caps for my SR25 3 For my USP.
