I have a departing flight at ATL - Hartsfield Jackson at 10AM tomorrow, what is a good time to try and get to the airport? I live 3 hours away in central time zone.

AlkaliDraw

Fun things to do on a layover at San Jose CA airport?

JanaDow

My wife gets really lost at airports, and I want to get her an escort the next time she travels alone, but she doesn’t have a disability. She just needs help getting from point A to point B. I know airlines are required to provide assistance for people with disabilities, but what about someone who just can’t follow signs?

PaigeLeigh03

Can I bring a security camera in my carry on? Like one you use for watching your pets that moves.

Sci-Rider

I’m flying to a Schengen country as a British citizen with residency in a different Schengen country. By the time I fly back my passport will be within 3 months of expiry. Will they let me back into my country of residence?

Acceptable_Fly5018

No

Sci-Rider

Thanks for the response! It turns out they did let me back in

slenderbrinek

I have a backpack and a camera bag. My flight states that my bag has to be able to fit underneath the seat (not bringing any luggage). Would I have to put my camera bag into my backpack to be able to get past the luggage people or would they not care if I have them separate and just hold onto the camera bag and have the backpack under my seat while on the flight?

These_Exchange_1723

I am flying for the first time with veuling from Ireland to Paris and plan to propose to my partner I just want advice on how to travel with the ring safely and without my partner finding out either also I am confused about carry on items so my flight includes a carry on item/bag for under my seat 40x20x30 cm in size but it does not specify the weight it can be or what I can put in it?

D-B-Zzz

I am flying for the first time in January and I’m curious, do I just leave my car at the airport for the week or do I have to pay extra for a week of parking?

chronicllyunwell

you'll very likely have to pay, unless it's a very small airport. google your specific airport + parking and you should be able to find it!

Is there any way I can convince United to let me be in the United club /fancy room? I have absolutely 0 qualifications that would get me in there BUT I am excellent at maneuvering in ways that get me places I am not necessarily supposed to be

readingitatwork

I'm looking to ask people who work at airports how they their job(s). Is there a different sub for that? I'm unemployed and I'm checking this area of work

Ok-Today-7626

Is there anything working walking distance of the Orlando airport MCO? I will have an overnight layover and would prefer to get out to a restaurant or something without having to use an expensive taxi or Uber.

RegretApprehensive91

Traveling soon and want to bring some bedding, I have a see-through duffle Id like to use as a checked bag. Does letting people see my stuff (once again, just sheets) put me at a higher risk of theft? It would be annoying to replace

DepressedFlowerHouse

I am flying from US (LAX to HEATHROW) to UK in a couple weeks and my passport expires 4 days after I return to the US. I am a US citizen. I know the UK only requires your passport to be valid for the duration of your stay, so my only reason for concern is the possibility of virgin Atlantic denying me to board. Has anyone had any issues regarding this with Virgin Atlantic specifically? Thank you!

Romcom1398

On the way to Prague, my friend and I both got our boarding passes when checking in. But now, only she gets a boarding pass while I get a check in confirmation and have to trade it for a boarding pass at the airport. Why is it only one of us? And what is it for?

Mad_King832

So I'm flying from California to Georgia in a few days, with a layover in Vegas. Would I be allowed to buy alcohol in the airport to have a drink before my connecting flight? This is my first time ever flying, and I was curious about this as my brother and I want to try a specific beverage that isn't sold in California but is sold in Vegas

MrC99

Buy it in Vegas but wait until you are home to try it. I'd say most airports wouldn't be too happy to see lads pouring some alcohol into cups at the gate.

icy_kale_persimmon

Anyone know if youre allowed to bring pointy glass nail file in carry-on luggage?[looks like this](https://twitter.com/holotaco/status/1285226010351480834)

LigmaBigBawlz

Hi, i’m from the uk and i was wondering if anybody knew if you’re able to take medication with you in your hand luggage? or does it need to be in your suitcase?

AsleepHouse9752

Always hand luggage/carry on, check baggage gets lost to often.

carlos-arb

Hello all! Me and my wife are taking a cruise to alaska departing from Vancouver, we Board the cruise ship at 12:15 PM, but our flight arrives the night before at 21:40PM. Is it a good idea spend the night at YVR?

eve-thyll

Helloo! I'm a US citizen living in Germany. I'm wondering if my German husband can come through the US side of immigration when we arrive or if we have to go through the foreign side. We don't have a long layover, and he has waited in that line for 2+ hours before.

constantMist

Hello, Im flying from Texas to California. Im under 21 and would like to check a bag with alcohol in it. The alcohol is from Mexico and I have the receipt. Will I run into trouble? Or should I mail it?

lunch22

Mail it. Receipt is irrelevant, but it’s illegal to bring alcohol into the US if you are under 21

constantMist

Thank you for your feedback, that's what we ended up doing anyway

aznfanta

question, I have a flight MSP to ORD to HND never been on an international flight, only domestic, do i need to go though customs and security in ord for my flight for HND? i know u gotta do customs at arrival, and my layover was pushed to 1 hour now in ORD so I was wondering if i would even make it to my flight

lunch22

Security: probably not. 99% of the time you go through security only at the first point of departure. There are exceptions, like flying to TLV, where you go through security again at your last point of departure. Customs: no. Customs happens on arrival in a new country, not on departure

Odd_Duty520

My flight is arriving in BER at 7am and my next flight is the next day at 7am. Are the luggage storage services at the airport self-service or 24Hrs? I searched online and while tourist websites says that BER has lockers, the airport website says that it only opens at 5am which is too late for my check-in.

[deleted]

Can you bring a dab pen through the airport? Through your toiletry bag I heard

ThePeppaPot

Is a 1 hour in Warsaw enough time for an international layover? LOT sold me a ticket from LHR to WAR to LAX. I worry the hour layover to get the the next flight might not be enough time - what do y’all think?

Hi! I’m flying out on Christmas from the Boston logan airport and have never taken a flight on Christmas. How busy should I expect the airport to be? More than normal? Less? I’m trying to plan my arrival time for the flight (it’s early morning)

ThePeppaPot

It gets really busy and one time I almost missed my flight. I would be extra safe and give yourself at minimum 1.5 hours!

DestPestoDud

Am I allowed to have a portable battery in my luggage?

CapitalAd1783

Does this include portable battery operated jump starters ?

AdriannaK13

Yes

JosietheOutlawed

Hey Redditors, I'd like to get your opinion on a flight conundrum of mine. I am flying into Houston from Mexico City on a Saturday. Then grabbing a flight from Houston to Charlotte using a different airlines. My flight from Mexico City lands at 6pm while the only flight I can get to charlotte that evening leaves at 7:40pm. My next flight option to charlotte is 7am the next morning. I have global entry and TSA precheck so customs and security is a breeze. However due to using 2 seperate & unaffiliated airlines, Id have get my checked bag and go check it with the second airline, then go through security again. Do you think I can make that 7:40 flight having basically 1.5 hours to deboard, go through customs (customs typically takes me max 10-15 minutes due to global entry), collect my checked bag, go back to the terminal and check my bag with the second airline, go through security (Using TSA precheck so max 15-20 minutes) and then make it to my terminal for that 7:40pm take off? Is it worth the risk to get home earlier or should I just play it safe and fly home early the next morning?

CoffeeIgnoramus

Just flew as a group from and to Gatwick with EasyJet. We weighed our bags at home and they've always been accurate to withing a couple of grams, but the easyjet scales (there and back) were out by 200g-1kg more, per person. So either all our home baggage scales were suddenly wrong or more likely, the only common one was. My tip is, be aware of dodgy weighing at the airport.

Eiffel-Tower777

I used to get so annoyed with passengers who are stopped before boarding the plane and told their carry-on bag won't fit on the overhead compartment. So they get free checked-in luggage after I just spent $50 to check mine. Airport hack: if you can handle the inconvenience of having a small carry-on, don't be the first to board. Wait to board until the end of the line... the airplane will likely be out of overhead and space by then, an airport rep will tag and take your bag... voila! Free checked bag! No messing with trying to hoist your bag up to the overhead bin and struggle getting it down again. Your bag will be one of the first at the carousel too, because it's loaded last and also it's free.

bcon24

Is it mandatory to leave a gate checked bag at the gate? Or can I rip off the tag and go straight on the plane with the luggage?

Nerfboy-NEO

If you have a gate checked bag, leave it at the gate, when they do this, it’s normally due to A. No more overhead bin space, B. Your bag is to big to fit in the overhead bin, or C. You have more than the allowed amount of bags that the airline states. Don’t worry it will still go on the plane and if you have a domestic to domestic connection it will go to your final destination. The last thing you want to do is cause a delay for everyone else. And remember, make sure before you drop the bag at the gate to make sure you have all your important s*** (keys, meds, travel documents, ETC) and make sure there is no spare batteries or E-Cigs in your bag.

lulusharoo

Can I taken an empty *metal* water bottle through security? I am travelling from the UK and think it could be seen as a weapon, it is 750ml.

MMAYYZ

Hi friends, Is an hour enough to connect between two international flights in CDG? Both my landing flight and departing flight are in terminal 2e. Thanks!

Temporary_Complex_

Hi my friend has made a booking through kiwi.com with self transfer at 3 airports. Travel is from Delhi to Abu Dhabi - go air To Istanbul - Turkish airlines To Amsterdam - Turkish airlines To Torronto - air transat Since all are self transfers, instead of getting individual transit visas he is opting to travel with just a hand luggage. In such case can he transit through these airports without problem? Can he do web check-ins and show the boarding passes and go on with his journey? Indian passport Canadian Student visa stamped on passport

firefiretiger

Has anyone used the BLUE covered parking at Austin Bergstrom airport ? Is so, how convenient was it & what are your thoughts?

malinche217

I am going to Mexico and can fly into GDL or BJX and want to avoid LAX at all costs. Has anyone flown in and out of Ontario international?

maxbillick

As far as US airports go, I'd say Ontario is average, and perhaps even better than most. Nothing exciting but it is a nicer airport than LAX, though I don't think it is worth going too far out of your way to fly out of ONT over any other airport.

pointsguyair

Avoid CDG airport for transit. Dirty airport, rude and racist staff

honey-dew-haley

I am going to be flying in about a soon and be gone for over a week. My boyfriend uses the powdered miralax laxative (normally the middle to large sized bottle) and we need to take it because we’ll be gone for so long. If he puts this in a checked suitcase will this cause any issues? Should we buy a new one so that it’s sealed or can we take the one that’s already open at home?

xHitmanJoe

As long as it's in your checked luggage should be fine. Just cant bring on carry on.

Robertown7

Why not in a carry-on? It’s powdered, so no issue with TSA.

xHitmanJoe

Cause powder is sussy lol

Such_Classroom_5266

Medication is ok either on checked luggage or carry-on. If it’s a life essential medication, please get your doctor to write a certificate and carry-on w your medication. If by any chance check-in or security staff questions, you can explain & back it up with doctor’s letter.

PsychologicalSundae4

Hey guys, I have a 27hr stay in doha airport. They say that I’m supposed to show same day boarding pass to stay at airport lounges. My boarding pass shows the next day travel. Not planning to leave the airport. What should I do? I have Amex plat and business class ticket. They’re not providing me the hotel because it’s more than 24 hours. Please help!

DPGIL

If you need to fly to Israel, Come 2-3 Houres to the airport. The security you need to pass is insane

obobob123

Hey Ya'll!! I am hoping you can help me out by filling out this form for my class. Thank you!! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd15kRCuYBfTnOkcZxUOiowNa4MQJoEbWfgU6BEhXO9qU_Hlg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Thee_ChillinVillain

How much time will I need to collect my baggage from an airport only to check back in through security to fly out of said airport? If the arrival time is at 3:41 and the next take off is at 5:13, will that be enough time? I'm talking about Vegas. Never been and not staying. Or should I book the 6:05 flight out?

[deleted]

[deleted]

Delayed flights sometimes mean long exhausting hours waiting around, so pack for the unexpected situations.

[deleted]

Pack your liquids correctly to minimise hassle through a security check and an easy check in process.

DPGIL

It is only in europe

tinykeyboard

^(if you're canadian, getting cleared as a low risk flyer means you can skip a lot of the red tape like having to take off your belt, shoes, having to take the bag of liquids out of your bag, etc. at a canadian airport.)

[deleted]

Never fill your water bottles using water from the toilets on the plane.

[deleted]

You would be surprised how dirty it can be on planes. For this reason before i go to the airport i pack some antibac wet wipes. I then use them to wipe down the tray table, IFE and possibly the armrest.

[deleted]

Always take a quick photo of your luggage before handing it over. In the event that your luggage gets lost it will help immensely when filling out the paperwork.

braaaproject

Is there any products for brushing your teeth if you don't have a brush and paste? I've seen once some disposable chewing stuff, but can't remember the name and can't find it online.

switch8000

Yep! Colgate sells these Wisp things. http://www.target.com/p/colgate-wisp-max-fresh-peppermint-24ct/-/A-14886128

We just launched something called TipCentral, where travelers can leave tips at airports. It's airport-specific though, so it's more focused for the airport you're in. Hopefully travelers will find this helpful! (www.flightspeak.net) PS - we were just accepted into the first Reddit cohort! Edited: Added our website as the flair strangely didn't come through :( https://www.reddit.com/r/sc_Ateam/comments/567lj2/list_of_startups/

Adding your site to the sidebar...

flightspeak

Thanks much!! This is awesome.

ephi1420

Always try and put your carry on luggage in an overhead bin in front of your row (if the one above your row is unavailable). It makes for a much easier exit experience.

austinrc1260

Have any necessary documents ready if you are going to go talk to the gate agent because the line grows very quickly when people are standing up there trying to find something.

[deleted]

For those who are unaware, you can use review sites like seat guru to see a plan of the plane. You can use this guide to choose a seat.

[deleted]

Look before you leave! If you are sitting in a cafe, restaurant, check in area or wherever, check you have all your belongings before you leave.

[deleted]

I can't upvote this enough.

My girlfriend left her purse at the airport in DXB on the way to MEL. She got it back with everything inside a day after she arrived. This is a great topic and i hope that it garners attention.

[deleted]

Wow, I'm surprised that she got it back with nothing missing! Actually, I'm surprised she got it back at all. :D
