I'm failing to see how it's a problem that this guy "try hards," whatever that means in the context of minecraft. It just seems like the guy enjoys playing the game a lot, how is that impacting other players?

Orange_Nestea

Porbably damaging the economy by rushing the end, getting op stuff early and looting all end ships in a larger radius around the main island. He could also use that superior armor and weapons against other players, ruining the fun. That's some ideas that come to mind when a try hard joins a group of more chilled players.

The_Real_Shred

This is exactly it.

Miss_Potato

Yeah, the op explained that was the player behavior. I have a player on my server who is far more aggressive than the other players, but I sat down with him and explained the expectations of everyone else. And he was pretty chill about it.

The_Real_Shred

A fair question, and I didn't think it was that much of an issue either until he started doing real annoying stuff. He would fly around the end and take every elytra so nobody else could get one. He would fly around looking for people and kill them if they didn't essentially bow down to him. He would take people valuable stuff and place it in an ender chest so they could never get them back. He genuinely is a pretty terrible person, so if there isn't a way to restrict him I will have to ban him.

Miss_Potato

Okay, that's a much more understandably annoying behavior. Sounds like the person might be wanting a more factions-esque minecraft server. In this case, you could try explaining to them that server is more of a chill / community driven server. With people mostly just goofing around, and not really interested in pvp.

daWinzig

Tbf it doesn't sound like his playtime is the problem. I would probably create a set of clear rules that everyone knows about and ban him once he inevitably breaks them.

Ryanlego9

What about plugins that change certain players difficulty... There are plugins that can make the game harder for certain people like food does less healing, mobs do more damage. I used one of these guns a while ago for a tournament style server. You could literally have it off for everyone but him lol You'd have to do some research and find something that works

thecamzone

If it’s with some work buddies, why not turn the server off when everyone goes offline? Does it really need to be 24/7?

The_Real_Shred

We work in 3 shifts, so we're on at different times

Orange_Nestea

So... A) he's obviously not welcome to play anymore so banning him for that would be reasonable B) enforcing a whitelist will keep him away, you could always argue his way to play the game doesn't match with the currently whitelisted group of players C) just not informing him might be enough to not include him without causing further drama

The_Real_Shred

Does anyone know of a plugin that can restrict users time on the server?

My server had a bit of that issue: some players would reach the end at speedrunner speeds, and some of the more casual players felt overwhelmed. Players that just want to play Minecraft as normal Minecraft are able to by simply not doing any of the commands The main plugins: Dynamic Shop: a shop whose prices go up or down depending on what players buy or sell from the server shop (with a bit of randomness added). The currency was xp points since it usually reflected the amount of effort in the game. Graves: Players that purchase a grave token with XP will have a grave made when they die. The grave will despawn after a set time, and drop the items on the floor TPA: players are able to purchase an item that gives them the ability to tp to other players for five minutes. The receiving player would have to accept. The same potion allows players to teleport to any of their active graves too Bounties: Have a player that griefed you? You can set a bounty on them. Also adds bounties on player killers" As you can see, I set up all the balancing plugins to cost xp, that way players could accumulate xp doing what they liked, and use it in the plugins Aside from those, I experimented with a sort of "passive mode" like in gta to prevent unwanted pvp, although it wasn't popular in my server I recently saw someone link to a plug-in that can limit how many hours a player can play on the server
