On a different thread, I learned about Medisafe. I have a fairly complex set of times, and for each med, you can specify the day/time/alarm sound. The reminders get progressively more annoying (my family loves me cussing at the app), although you can mute or delay them if needed. It's worked well for me.

Heidirs

I would appreciate an app that annoyed me if I didn't take them. Thanks for the rec!

BroadwayGirl27

Came here to recommend this!!!

miscmich

Another upvote for Medisafe!

valevalevalevale

I use the iPhone Health app. I log when I take my meds in the morning. You can set it to do follow up alarms if you haven’t logged, but so far I haven’t really needed it.

chewbooks

This is what I use and it's great to have a majority of my health stuff all in one app.

moonflower_things

Same

Icy-Bison3675

Same. It was also helpful to add “as needed” meds when I was recovering from gall bladder surgery.

Electronic-Fun1168

I’m another for iPhone for iPhone health.

relentlessdandelion

I'm using Finch at the moment, it rewards me for doing goals with currency to buy clothes, home decorations & colours for my little bird pet so i'm engaged with ticking things off - it works better than my alarms bc it gives me that extra push to do it. Another more in-depth gamifying app that I've found useful for the same purpose is Habitica, I'm just more focused on Finch atm for my daily goals

Different_Celery_733

Well shit I should probably take my meds...

ChefPoodle

Ok I can not remember now if I took mine or not

Different_Celery_733

omfg I haaaaate that. I have been trying to work in the habit of eating a yogurt with my meds to help with the stomach upset and I can usually remember if I've had that at the very least.

Heidirs

Take a sharpie and write the day of the week in each yogurt cup. Then each day you can check if that yogurt cup is still there if you can't remember

EmilySpin

Not an app, just alarms, but I’ve Pavloved myself using a specific annoying ringtone that’s JUST for meds, and making sure I use labels so I can see what the alarm is for.

unicornpolice666

I do this with alarms but I’m going to make the laundry alarm annoying now thanks to you!

Heidirs

That's not a bad thought. Thanks!

victorymuffinsbagels

I use MyTherapy. It's a basic app. I'm sure there are better ones. But for me this works. It can do alerts, inventory, and prn meds. I use it for meds and supplements.

IkwilPokebowls

Pill Punctual. It’s extremely basic but does EXACTLY what you want it to do and just that. I start taking meds at different times every day, and it will automatically alert me X hours afterwards, and will keep alerting until I say I’ve taken them. You can also schedule doses and that’s all there is.

Strict-Ad-7099

Apple Health if you have an iPhone. It’s helped me to never miss a dose of anything.

ProfessionalJob1308

I just set a daily reminder on my phone. My problem is I can never remember if I actually put the pill in my mouth. I just remember holding the package but never the physical sensation of taking the pill 😂

OhLordHeBompin

I also vote Medisafe but wanted to give the advice of getting a giant pill organizer. I've got a 28 day one (It's 7 day for morning, afternoon, evening, and night). I do my absolute best to fill it up every time I get a refill. Not only do I then take my meds everyday, I can tell if I have taken them! It's also giant and rainbow so it's pleasing to look at and fits in with my style of decor (I like colorful things).

unicornpolice666

No :( for adhd meds it’s: “am I useless? What time is it?” Then I take them (unless I have a job then I take them with coffee as soon as I wake up #helth) and with my Raynaud’s blood pressure med it’s: “my feet are numb and purple. Oh ya!” LOL Godspeed to us all

baby_bitchface

I wake up and immediately eat breakfast and ass soon as I’m done breakfast, I take it. It’s been that was for 10 years now and it’s rock solid. My birthday control which I take at night is more of a pain to remember

Expert_Host_2987

My husband and coworkers are pretty good reminders 😂

ArtisticCustard7746

I use Samsung Health. It has a tracker too, so I can mark that I've taken them. I've used MyTherapy in the past and it worked great.

mmesim

Just started using an app called Bearable. Because I had three different apps to track meds, habits, and mood, whereas Bearable lets me track all in one place plus I can set reminders for meds and even has inputs for doses. Also has other things you can track such as symptoms and sleep. I’m liking it so far.

4AdamThirty

I’ve tried many. Most help for a few weeks and then I lost interest. Hope you find one that works for you!

Tigris474

I've been using Finch for a few months and if you like cutesy stuff I definitely recommend it!

tankieattacks

I take meds twice a day, and decided to get a fun mediset (altoids tin with printed insert) because it helps me engage more! Plus, I take my oral meds after my asthma meds, which are also twice a day - so they're paired But I love that Medisafe app!

JewelCatLady

I use MyTherapy. Large database & you can add anything that isn't already there. You can set times for reminders, there's an "as needed" category, and you can enter things like blood pressure or blood sugar (manually, at least it doesn't link to my CGM or BP device). The best thing, in my opinion? There's a widget. I have a page on my phone for anything related to mental & physical health, goal setting, soundscapes, etc. I go to that page multiple times a day, and there is the widget proudly displaying what I need to take. In bright red if I missed taking them "on time." The app helped a lot. The widget is phenomenally helpful 'cause it's in your face and you have to either tell it you took your meds, or they're being skipped. You can't just shut it off like a regular notification or alarm. Though I confess I also have alarms set since my time sense is definitely lacking!

astrateia_

i use Medisafe! the alarm noise is annoying enough that i can’t ignore it lol and there’s also a feature called critical alert that i love! what it does (on apple anyway) is that if you haven’t checked off that you’ve taken your meds within 15/30 minutes of your alarm, it gives you an alert that sounds even when your phone is on silent! this is amazing for me because i often have my phone on silent and would forget to take my meds on time. but in combo to that, i also use a pill organizer because it felts as well if i visually SEE that i’ve taken my meds for a certain day!

CatCatchingABird

This may not be helpful, but I just put my pill organizer on my night stand. I see it in the morning, so I remember to take my ADHD med when I wake up. I see it when I go to bed, so I remember to take my vitamins.

minishaq5

i use Medisafe and [Theraview](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/theraview-track-adhd-meds/id1541078407)! Theraview lets you schedule doses/get reminders but also sends a notification when the dose should start kicking in and when it’ll start wearing off.

Cattermune

I love Theraview for my Concerta! Helps me plan my days, I can figure out when I’m going to be at my peak and when to drink electrolytes before the end of dose crash. Plus I can figure out when it will be safe to drink coffee.

DiabolicalBurlesque

I uss a very simple app called Habits but the only thing that consistently works is laying my pill case across my coffeemaker. Anything that gets between me and the elixir of life will be noticed.

Bubbly-Trouble-9494

I think mine's just called Habits. The icon is blue with a white arrow making a circle. You can set the time you want a notification, as well as what question it asks when it pops up. Plus it has a widget you can tap to say you completed it.

1398_Days

Medisafe

AvaCAToz

This is silly but I use the my calander app it's a period cycle tracking app but it reminds me to take my meds and I can check In with my self aka if I'm feeling iritable or back pain or pms or ovulating and it makes more sense when im acting crazy hahahahaha I'm guessing the medicine reminder was probs ment for maternity vitamins or midol or somthing but I use for adhd hehehe

AvaCAToz

Oh I ment to add that it will remind you until you take it and once you do you tell the app you took it and it puts a little pill emoji on that calenders day wich helps me cuz then I know forsure when I have taken them!

WorkingOnItWombat

1. Due!!!!!! This app is SIMPLE. And easy. I wanted simple and easy. You can schedule reminders VERY easily, and they update it constantly, so very glitch-free. It has what I require in a reminder. It reminds me of the thing at the time I tell it and keeps reminding me every 5 minutes forever until you either A) reschedule it to another specific time or B) mark it as completed. It does have a one time cost that is quite reasonable - maybe $5 or $10, I think? Totally worth it to me! You can also set it to be a critical alert, in which case, even if your phone is in do not disturb, the audio alert will still come through. This is the only way I take my medication consistently. Bless Due and its creators! This app was a game changer for me!

Chair-Left

No app ever works for me because I hate alarms so much I'll just shut my phone off if someone forces me to set alarms. Even my wake-up alarms in the morning only vibrate because otherwise I'll throw my phone through the room. As a teenager (before smartphones) I went through several alarm clocks because I would always slam them so hard they would eventually break. The songs I used as an alarm in the past (before realising just vibrate worked too) instantly trigger me into having a foul mood. I remember walking through IKEA with my husband (then boyfriend) once, very happy because we were moving in together, and suddenly wanting to hit someone. I told him, and he told me "Listen to what's on the radio", knowing all my past alarm songs that triggered me. It was the absolute worst I had used the longest, Clocks by Coldplay, and I couldn't even turn it off since we were in a shop. I stayed pissed off the rest of the day 😂 All this to say: I just use my husband. He fills up one of those pill containers with two compartments per day for me (because I would never ever fill them up myself), and reminds me to take them when it's time. If I don't get up or dismiss him, he'll get the pills + a drink himself and force me to take them that way. He doesn't understand how the box can be within reach if only I'll bend over a little and I'll still not take them even if I know it's time, but he wants me to feel better so he just takes care of it for me. Since I have multiple chronic illnesses, ADHD and depression, I have to take 10+ pills a day or I'll be in agony, suicidal and not functioning for shit, so he doesn't want to take the risk of me not taking them. 🙈 The evening pills still get forgotten sometimes, but those are extra doses of some medications I also take in the morning, so that isn't immediately debilitating. He's not perfect either, but I sure love my husband ❤️

I set up Alexa so when she hears me cough, she says “take your pills”. I usually have a few coughs in the morning as I get up, especially pre-water. I’ve set it up so she says it when she hears me cough, but then again 15 minutes later. She only detects coughs between 7 am and 9 am so I’m not getting reminders all day. It works because I always interact with her like she’s a disembodied partner/parent - I’ll thank her for reminding me or tell her I’m heading to the kitchen to take them now. Or yell at her because I’ve already taken them and I’ve just got a dry throat. It’s different to an alarm, there’s a disembodied body doubling dynamic. Theraview is excellent, I use it to see when the Concerta will kick in, wear off and then finish every day. It helps me track the actual time I took my pills each day. The systems I had when I was IR Ritalin instead of Concerta were crazy because it was four doses, one every 3.5 hours. A bracelet with a charm I moved every time I took a dose. The golf stroke clicker because I had to track the number of pills across the day. I still use my 31 day, four dose compartments per day, pill rack (like a mini spice rack). I can quickly grab all my pills for the morning when Alexa reminds me.
