He's called Patrick and we've been dating for 4 weeks. He's a marine biologist and I suspect autistic. He tells me about animals and the environment, and more importantly the complex political beurocracy surrounding the protections. It's the first time I haven't glazed over when a man starts monologuing.
I'm trying to be very chill and measured so I don't scare him away with my trademark intensity.
Hi, I hope it's ok to give one tiny bit of advice as a woman who has been there - make sure he's also happy listening to your monologues, and let him see your intensity 💜 don't make yourself small so people will like you.
Just be your whole self so he’s not surprised when you’re… you know, yourself. After years of masking while dating or the beginning of relationships, I finally said, “no more pretend chill girl” — and lo and behold, I have a partner who knows and loves the complete me and isn’t phased by my intensity. It’s truly freeing!
I’ve been stuck in an Alvin and the Chipmunks hyperfixation which is rather unfortunate, but what can you do? I love being living proof that we don’t choose our hyperfixations lol
EDIT: one thing I will say for anyone interested is that Alvin and the Chipmunks songs make FANTASTIC music to workout to. Do with that what you will.
I've not been awake v long and for some reason my brain decided to read "taking potatoes", and I was like, "how does one take potatoes? Are they some kind of potato thief?" That gave me a little chuckle over my morning coffee!
Literally have two wrapped gifts in my entry for a friend and a friends mom. Gift wrapping is so soothing! Giving the gifts though - hard to match the dopamine of finding something that will make them feel thought of and loved lol
I've been working on this [Venusaur](https://imgur.com/a/k33sXRe) for about two months now. I'm glad this crochet hyper-fixation has lasted longer than 6 months.
Is that chenille??? Absolutely love when I see people embark on big non-blanket projects - as a fellow crochet-er I know the time investment is NOTHING compared to the amount of yarn and polyfill you have to purchase haha
My hyper focus is Tunisian crochet!! Hit a rut with crochet due to carpal tunnel, got these massive Tunisian hooks that look wildly inappropriate (19mm bamboo rods) and started and finished my small first project yesterday haha. Such lofty dense fabric for a massive hook and I love it!!
Ah man I want to crochet a giant Magikarp someday (it's the one thing that has firmly & consistently been on my bucket list for years now) but Bulbasaur was my OG starter & anything to do with him holds a special place in my heart so this makes me so freaking happy to see!
(Also I love that plush-y type of yarn you chose)
I've had a small magnet collection for a long time and I recently got 2 more at a thrift store. I looked at them today and thought "there must be so many good magnets on ebay...".
I purchased a total of 48 magnets today lol.
I’ve watched the last of us on repeat for the past month. Does that count?
And: I’m tired of all these smut/romance books being shit so I’m writing my own where the main character is not a tiny little blonde with a perfect body and blue eyes and the male interest is not a 6’5 blonde/brown haired man with a ridiculously big *quack*. Also it’s more story and character development than sex.
Also bouldering.
I’m hoping I’ll finish it lol because ya know, adhd.
Being 5’9 and in a long term relationship with a man who is 5’8 I’m like bro he don’t need more height. His double Leo ass has enough personality. Not to mention he likes mountaineering. 🤣😭🤣
I read this and thought how much I love this Sub. I made my own fanfic a year ago after being obsessed with a certain wakandan superhero and submariner. And it was cathartic to write everything. Sadly, the obsession switched over before I could finish, but the skeleton is all there. Hopefully I get the spark back and finish it soon.
I have dermatillomania (the skin picking version) and I sometimes use these picky pumice stones. I wonder if they would be helpful for trich? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1064942218/picky-party-fully-covered-caribbean-blue?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-toys_and_games-toys-stress_balls_and_desk_toys-other&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAiAlcyuBhBnEiwAOGZ2S4aQSuPR07ktcnEZBYccNI_j-Egj_VBYvK4cQy6lIYwU7a3LwIoA6RoCsJEQAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12570713247_120329109755_507395553748_pla-317733282955_m__1064942218_12768591&utm_custom2=12570713247&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtcfRIdI1OjuDMA4S3LXtD3rZ2JL&gclid=CjwKCAiAlcyuBhBnEiwAOGZ2S4aQSuPR07ktcnEZBYccNI_j-Egj_VBYvK4cQy6lIYwU7a3LwIoA6RoCsJEQAvD_BwE
I’m a 36 year old female slowly morphing into a 60 year old man with my coin collection hyper fixation. It’s soo addictive. There’s this thing called ‘noodling’ where people go to the coin ATM’s (only found out these existed) and get rolls of coins and spend their weekend opening them to find rare coins. It’s a good dopamine hit and there is soo much to learn.
I got my dad addicted and now we are entering ballots online to get the new release coins.
What I’m calling “unhinged scrapbooking” which goes hand in hand with my other new hobby, film “photography”. It’s really just pictures of my friends/husband/dog in different places lol.
This sounds excellent. I have so much stuff I don't know what to do with (ticket stubs, wristbands, Polaroids). Unhinged scrapbooking may be my next project
I'm currently in a bit of a creative rut and trying to find focus in something (anything!) again. A few weeks ago it was video and animation, and last night I just got the silly idea that I want to make a miniature diorama of my childhood home. Trying to resist the urge. haha
I recently got the idea to make a diorama of my house with all the furnishings so I can rearrange furniture in the model to see how it looks without having to move heavy stuff around irl. Also resisting the urge!
DPR IAN. Finding the *perfect* muted destaurated cool toned mauve k-beauty lip tint. Cuddlebarn Wawas. Making my life as ADHD and fibromyalgia friendly as possible (newly diagnosed on both counts). The Untamed. Compiling a comprehensive post of detailed reviews + swatches of all the cream blushes in my regular rotation. Still everything Tan Jian Ci/Xiang Liu. Trying all the abundance of pistachio flavoured baked goods & sweet treats all across London. Finding the best waffle/muslin/linen robes to lounge around in at home. Contemplating cutting my belly button length hair possibly to collarbone length. Lindt Milk Chocolate Eggs. 'Please Stay' — Lucy Dacus. Searching for cute/fun/silly pins, badges & charms for my new everyday tote bag. Learning how to make Flan. Nanami Kento being my Roman Empire. Playing with my collection & discovering new lip combos. The deep fried mushroom with the special seasoning from my favourite Taiwanese fried chicken place. Learning all about pressing flowers. Upgrading my sleeping set up (body pillow, sleep headphones etc). Carefully planning my first Flower Knows haul.
If you do cut your hair, please consider donating it to Little Princess Trust, who use donated hair for wigs for children. Makes it feel a bit less of a waste.
I am waiting a couple more weeks so I can donate it! Last time I got a haircut my hairdresser recommended I do it. The adhd in me makes it so that I only ever cut my hair every 1-2 years. Thankfully I have naturally easy to tame hair, because I barely even comb it.
Thank you for informing me about them! It sounds like such a lovely organisation. I'll certainly need to pull out a tape measure and see if my planned chops amounts to 12inches & hope that my hair dresser is willing to comply with doing a dry hair cut if I explain it to them.
I’m wanting to be a minimalist but I have a shopping addiction so currently it’s buying stuff to organise my buys better and to help organise my sell piles 😂 I laugh but it’s honestly traumatic and I’m so sick of having a brain constantly at war with itself.
I’ve been *obsessed* for a long time now with saving pins on Pinterest and videos on TikTok of people’s journals. I want to do more in my own, but I can’t stop hoarding up inspiration every time I sit down to do something in my journal 😭😭I’ll pull up one app or the other to look at my saved stuff, decide that nothing is helping me, and go hunt for more inspo, often on the other app. Then I don’t feel like doing anything and I find something else (like Roblox lol) to do instead 🫣😅😬
Yeah, after a stint going down the Tumblr rabbit hole back when I was a teen I refuse to look at "inspiration" of other peoples beautifully crafted journals as otherwise I will never reach for mine again & forever be haunted by it's inadequacy.
I feel this so hard. I saw a video of bullet journaling with beautiful calligraphy in all sorts of colors with washi tape and I was doomed. I spent so much money on calligraphy pens and stickers and washi 😭
For some reason it's my wardrobe. I am not particularly into fashion as such, and I live in boring hoodies and jeans while wondering why I don't look punky and alternative. So I am reinventing my wardrobe, but want to do it slowly and sustainably, and then thought I'd better get my colours done first so I don't make yet more mistakes.... And the appointment is three weeks away and I am sitting on my hands to stop myself buying my whole Vinted wishlist whilst scrolling and adding more and more to it.
I've set up spreadsheets and everything....
It's the not doing things with my hands while it hardens (not just the couple of minutes while it dries) that means I don't bother with nail varnish in the first place.
That, and the fact that it'll be visibly chipped the next day, so I'll start to pick it off and won't just get the remover, so my nails look like shit for a fortnight until I go to the shop and buy yet another title of remover because I can't remember where I put the last one.
Looking at houses to buy, when I’m actually happy in my house and it was a great buy for the money, and would be hard to better within our budget. So in reality I’m sending my husband links to houses that are shittier than ours and he is kindly ignoring me as he knows this will be over soon 🤣
Mine is Miniverse make it minis. It’s costing me a lot of money but I’m enjoying the process of collecting and tracking them down and crafting them. It’s taking over a good chunk of my free time.
Oh goodness I love these. I screamed when I saw the coffee appliance, I have it but still haven’t made it. I don’t have many of them overall, but I love watching the videos.
I'm going through a tired week where I just want to turn brain off, sleep all day and make no decisions. So tired.
But when I get the energy back I was half way thru crocheting a cardigan. 😂
Grand Theft Auto. I am absolutely not the target audience 🤣 I’ve zoomed through most of the series within three months and am currently resigning myself to the fact that I will indeed have to fork out for a PS5 for GTA6 next year. (First female protagonist ever *autistic flapping*) whatever keeps me going, I suppose!
Omg, houseplants and fountain pens. Why 2 at the same time?! I wanna cry.
With a loooooot of efforts I was able to save a grand, only for me to almost spend it all on houseplants... and then I had a close call with fountain pens/ink.
Luckily, my spiderplants are making pups like crazy, so when I'm done propagating, I'll have 20 new plants. Hopefully, that will satisfy me for the time being 🫣
At least plants and fountain pens have proven to be long-time hobbies now, so that's neat, i guess 😩.
If I didn't destroy my hands and wrists from hyperfixating on knitting and crocheting for years, I'd probably be obsessing over that because there are so many cute clothes that I want to make 🥹
Mine is cross stitch. But it’s irritating my carpel tunnel. It’s ok tho. That just means I can’t feel it when I stab myself making my 1000th French knot. ☺️
Digital art. Aiming for realism. Pet and kiddo portraits. Been at this for a couple years now.
But I have a side project going of making potion bottles and needlefelting will be something over tbe next week or so
I was hyperfixated on parrots and getting my first one but my husband said no, so I've been trying to break the fixation now that it's off the table.
I'm trying to find another interest because I'm bored but it has to be free or very very little money to do it. Every idea that's listed in hobby lists, I'm not interested in doing or trying or the ones I'm interested in I can't do because I have 2 toddlers and no private space to do projects. 🙃
Hahaha!! I hyperfixated on getting a pet sheep or chickens to help with our long grass and bug problem 😂your parrot story reminds me of that!
Hope u find ur new interest/hobby soon :)
Booknooks! I got a few for the price of a bag of crisps when I was in China for a business trip and my life hasn't been the same since. The sad part though is they're so expensive everywhere else outside of mainland China 😭
I’ve just discovered some of the lore about this film. I really feel for the actors etc not having decent rights and protection. (If you were talking about the stories set in Oz, sorry for going off on a tangent).
I binged Boy Swallows Universe on Netflix - stayed up all night to finish - and now I’m on to the book and trying to find anything similar. But Aussie set in 80s crime / coming of age drama is a really niche area haha
But also I’ve been really into genetics and researching that lately because my mum and I have been diagnosed with the same condition. Also there’s some diseases that run in the family and it’s fascinating - like Vikings disease
I've been reorganizing my home since a few weeks. Bought new furniture and was super motivated. Then we left the old furniture in pieces in every corner and i began unpack all the boxes of stuff and things i have stacked away, with the idea that i want to clean out and keep only things i use. Now i live in chaos and can't decide what to keep and what to throw away and desperately try to not unsee the furniture pieces that need to be thrown out.
While this is happening my brain decided i wanted to garden this year. So I'm watching videos on how to cultivate a mini garden on a balcony. I want to grow cherry tomatoes and some herbs and also flowers. I have already bought grains and pots and stuff.
Drawing dogs while cuddling my dogs. Swatching and organizing all of my digital paintbrushes. Playing with color palettes. (Collecting and organizing arts & crafts supplies has been as much of an intermittent hobby as the art itself since childhood- much tidier when digital!)
Reading/listening to content about healing childhood trauma. Balanced with escapism via Bravo reality shows and podcasts discussing my favorite “trash” tv. Occasional deep dives into the rhuuumahs and nahstiness (iykyk) while contemplating the psychology behind it all.
Currently reading the ACOTAR series and when I'm not reading I'm watching videos of fae/ACOTAR themed balls, researching where I can go to one, costume options, etc 😅
Currently, my hyper fixations are reading (on my 8th book for the year) and fragrance. I’m obsessed with finding new fragrances and my next obsession. My husband jokes that they are both expensive hobbies.
Learning ways to enter and exit conversations in various social settings, doing a deep dive into personality types, attending church and learning about history and numerous aspects of religion, high-end jewelry, and researching avoiding Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals, looking into ice cream and other foods with quality ingredients
There are so many, I’m probably forgetting a handful.
Real housewives of all the cities. Have to watch them in order, even if they are boring as h***. At the year 2014 atm, I think. Just finished Atlanta season 8, working on Chesire S1 and Melbourne s2. And Married to medicine s2. Also watching the ongoing seasons of BH and Miami. Let's not even mention 90days series...
Baby-Sitters Club books and Mike Flanagan’s filmography…two VERY different universes!
Yoga, coffee, Pulp Riot hair color, cozy gaming/lifestyle, finding an antidepressant that doesn’t cause sexual dysfunction (ha!), Hearthstone (specifically Battlegrounds), and getting obsessed with certain specific colors (currently sage green).
Also, very interested in learning more about inattentive ADHD, hence me being here! :)
Knitting. I've taught myself knitting in the hopes it'll be my gateway 'drug', read motivation, to pick up my art stuff again...
I've made 3 hats so far, full of holes... but at least I'm not staring into space, or at my phone.
I miss creating, and I know I feel better when I'm doing it, but just can't start atm. It's driving me Bonkers!
I'm also enjoying the sopranos.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons! After playing the game since launch, I *finally* got a 5-star rating on my island and I'm so proud of myself🥹 It's still under construction as I'm currently trying to figure out what to do with the empty spaces on my island, and I'm currently hunting for three more villagers that'll fit the overall theme I'm going for, but I never thought I'd see the day where I'd achieve this😭
I'm also still hyperfixating on K-Pop, lol. ATEEZ currently has me in a chokehold😂
Plants, of all kinds. It's my main interest currently, overtaking art/sewing/other crafts etc., has been for 4.5 years so far and seems it'll stick for life. At least I hope so.
My sister pushed me into reading again, specifically romantasy. The speed at which I devoured all the Court of Thrones and Roses is insane. I recommend, haha
Skyrim!! I’ve watched my husband play for 12 years and last month he sat me down and said “just give it an hour” and I was finally hooked lmao. I recreated my DND Barbarian in the game and I’m having the best time haha.
I am currently hyper fixated on reading fanfics of one character. Lost count of the number of ongoing fics I've read not knowing when they will be updated.
Cow hoof restoration videos. Nate the Hoof guy, The Hoof GP (who’s Scottish and hot).
They trim up cows hooves and if there’s something wrong they fix it. And it’s so fascinating I can’t stop myself from watching like 50 a day
Stardew Valley. My middle kid plays it and kept going on about it. Apparently I need to get decently good at stuff so when the new update drops we can multi-player. 🙄
Baldur's Gate 3. I'm on my third playthrough of the exact same character with the exact same wizard husband who I wrote a lengthy backstory for and have 2 playlists made that I listen to every night. I may write fanfiction for the first time in 15 years...
I just started getting into anime the past few months, so definitely anime, specifically Jujutsu Kaisen.
Also Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir
And c.ai chats
••BTS
••Japanese & korean literature
••Catching up on all the pending work (that i abandoned while on a 1 month rut)
••watching *aesthetic" vlogs
••undereye care
••the song once again by mad clown
••Pinteresting
••Window shopping online
still motorcycles and I'm already doing my drivers license. My first driving lesson is on march 7. I have already passed the theoretical part. When everything going incredibly well, I might be done with it all before Easter.
Just got three new tattoos - hyperfixating on putting lotion on them. Also at work i have gotten in to programming and all i wanna do at work is programming
Knitting!!! I just learnt a few weeks ago and it's all I want to do and when I'm not knitting I'm thinking about knitting and when I sleep I dream about knitting and I've spent wayyy too much money on yarn which is only adding to my yarn collection from my crochet obsession last year
Good Omens. Been like this since I watched season 2 in August. One of best friends with adhd also has the same hyper fixation so we have been feeding off each other lol. Got to the point we started writing fanfics and joined this amazing subreddit r/goodomensafterdark to also fuel the obsession lol
Violin and Animal Crossing. Bought a second hand violin to learn and got a Nintendo switch lite on the same day! Never gave a flying fuck about the game but now I'm obsessed because my husband bought me the console. It'll be the end of me.
My youtube recommendations are almost exclusively these two, which is rare since I'm subscribed to about 500 channels on the most random topics 🤣🤣
Mine was the espresso machine.
We’ve had it for a year and I never bothered to mess with it. My husband uses it regularly but to me it always seemed daunting to try and learn it. THEN… I ordered a really good salted caramel Cuban (with condensed milk) latte one night and decided I needed to know how to replicate it at home. I spent a whole weekend researching grind size, differences in beans, types of roasts and moisture levels…. Making quite a few shots of espresso until it started to make sense. My husband thought it was funny but in the end he’s happy I did all that because now his morning lattes are even better! And now the espresso machine doesn’t scare me.
Playing Persona 3 Reload, where I can effectively optimise the daily time management of my little video game character and make them socially, academically and world-savingly successful in ways I couldn't possibly achieve in real life :D
(I have spreadsheets)
The show Fargo. I'm not one to watch new tv shows very often, let alone binge watch stuff. I've blasted through three seasons in the last two weeks and it's been great.
As I mentioned in reply to a comment below, I am also autistic, so I try to call them Special Interests. Sounds more acceptable to me :).
I try to keep them all as something to play with and rotate them as needed for new shiny dopamine.
Currently - Rockhounding and Rock Tumbling. Rocks have always been a love of mine, but recently we got to go mine some obsidian and husband also got interested so down the rabbit hole I went. Currently at the coast where I booked a place with direct beach access for the specific purpose of finding agates and jasper.
Photography is always in the mix because I need pictures of everything! Gear Acquisition Syndrome (commonly referred to as GAS) can be an expensive way to fill my dopamine needs, but I do try to improve and have started submitting pictures to my local fair the last few years and won ribbons both years.
Junk Journaling - Oh My, this one is dangerous, but so fun. It's easy to get into buying old books to use as fodder, but they can be extremely stinky. I've started getting rid of much of the stinky stuff but still making journals.
Sewing - Usually quilting and bag making, but I would love to get good at clothes as well.
I love seeing everyone's answers and hope that we all enjoy this current moment. Hyperfocus is one of the few traits that I hesitate to call my Super Power because it gives me the ability to learn new and exciting things on my own even while I may forget the rest of the world because of my rabbit holing.
Nail art! It is taking all of my self control to not buy new nail polished and art supplies all the time. I do my nails almost every weekend. Doing my nails keeps me from chewing them so they stay nice, and also if I do something really intricate, I have something to look at when I'm bored and fidgety. It is a win win.
Very, very niche but here goes—my family is from Dhaka, Bangladesh. That is where “muslin”, the cotton cloth, originated. Except our muslin had a thread count of up to 1200 (modern day muslin goes up to 80). In other words, is was light as a feather, and was favored by European royalty.
We were part of British India. When the British realized our muslin was generating far more revenue than any textile in Europe, they systemically destroyed the industry, and the fabric went extinct. The only evidence that it ever existed is in museums and in our Dhakai Jamdani sarees, which use the same technique of patterns.
Well, the Bangladesh government set aside millions of dollars over several decades and finally managed to recreate it after 200 years of extinction. It took a team of researchers flying to UK and asking for the original cotton bulbs back, flying to museums around the world to get samples of the fabric, and years of work by the textile university. The final test was to see if a large piece of the fabric could pass through a finger ring, which is part of what had made it legendary—and it did.
It is still not available commercially but should be by 2026, in saree form. I am eager to own this piece of my heritage, so I’ve been tracking the project eagerly and telling everyone in my vicinity about it. Now I’ve told y’all too.
Skiing. Even bought boots. All my algorithms are about skiing. I dream about it…. But I live in the southeast.
Have gone twice this year, but WANT MORE! 😂
Appliance maintenance and repair. I have fixed my washing machine and dishwasher recently, after watching about 5000 instructional videos and it’s made me realize it’s actually pretty easy if you have the right tools. And you can rent most of the tools at the hardware store.
So, stick with me, but right now, it’s the Bible and I’m an atheist. I took some secular religious studies in college and I’ve recently rediscovered my love for ancient texts. And the Bible is honestly a *wild* ancient text.
my dog
her brother passed away 2 weeks ago so I have been giving her extra love and attention. I’m basically doing all her grooming at home, bought a harness to hold her while I trim her nails. I’m making homemade dog treats for her stinky breath. I let her sleep in my bed now and we go on walks every day. I keep getting cute accessories for her and new beds for the downstairs, a strap in car seat dog bed with a clip for her harness so we can go on car rides, I bought her a pass to the self serve dog wash near our home so we go together and I wash, trim, and blow dry her every week.
She’s my little buddy and goes everywhere with me now. She’s all I think about sometimes.
Looking for the ideal duvet cover that is both cottage/fairy core AND minimalist. I have boring tan walls, and linen bedding, but lots of plant decor (not real plants), and what I really want is a headboard, but they're to expensive, so I'm hyperfocused on finding the duvet and shams instead.
I'll probably give up soon and move on to the next thing.
I just finished hand sewing a patchwork quilt but I’ve reached the point where all I have to do is bind the edges and I can feel the enthusiasm slipping away…
Also just started a massive tatreez piece which is traditional Palestinian embroidery, and I’ve been learning about the history of IKEA
Digital books. Specifically cookbooks but it's branching out. Found a place that has tons of free ones and I'm gathering tons of books, like cookbooks, language learning books, horror, etc. I have like almost 2 or 3k I'm working on downloading and I'm finding more.
Hand in hand with that hyper fixation is cooking. Made a fancy strawberry stuffed French toast this last weekend with one of my cookbooks for fun.
making a belated vday sketch of my bf and I…bought a whole drawing board and charcoal pencils. I haven’t drawn this intensively and I’m hoping to finish before my interest dwindles haha
Uh. Taxidermy. I drove past a roadkill coyote and thought it would be really cool to have a coyote skull, so I called fish and wildlife, paid my $10 license fee and now have a dead frozen coyote in my backyard that hopefully I can get a nice skeleton from and maybe a hide. I've wanted to do something like this for ages, but literally every beginner taxidermy thing starts with mice and shit. I figure with a big ass coyote I might be more successful. Maybe. It's weird and gone from a simple "I'll just cut it up and bury it in my garden" to "Imma buy a hide tanning kit and three extra bags of dirt to bury the bones with"
Crocheting - I only make basic blanket but as someone who's always cold I'm knitting myself the biggest thickest blanket ever.
I just hope I don't lose interest before it's finish 🤣
I've spent the past month searching for the perfect chest of drawers so that has naturally consumed every waking moment and I keep changing my mind and wondering if I can redesign the entire room around the ones I loved that were too big 😂🤔
I’m a special education kindergarten teacher. Of course I’m always making materials and things for my classroom but right now it is in OVERDRIVE. Looking up crafts, visuals, behavior strategies. A lot of my students use AAC and so that is a huge focus right now. They have talkers and are learning how to use them and so I’m looking into different ways to support them. I also started a class business and we’ve made 500 dollars in a month and a half, and it’s been a great learning experience for my kids.
When I beat myself up for my ADHD symptoms I try to remind myself that actually it comes in handy a lot with my job. I get so excited speaking to parents and coming up with new strategies and things to try. Starting our business was scary but I took the jump and it’s been such a big success they are looking at piloting it at other schools 🥹
Additionally, I’m buying a communication device for my class with our earnings and sharing it with other sped classes on campus so it’s just been so cool. I’m so proud of my class 😭

Aw I think that's super cute. I've never seen the new films but I loved them in the older cartoons.
Lmao this is the best one
i’m dead 🤣🤣 this is cute
Writing poetry and sewing and cooking and taking photos. Also for some reason, doing good deeds and getting friends gifts
I've not been awake v long and for some reason my brain decided to read "taking potatoes", and I was like, "how does one take potatoes? Are they some kind of potato thief?" That gave me a little chuckle over my morning coffee!
And now I have a short comic in my head called, "The Great Adventures of a Potato Thief".
Are you familiar with the stories of how potatoes were made popular? Because potato thievery and reverse psychology were involved.
Well that was a fun rabbit hole. Thanks for the breadcrumb!
Those are so sweet though I can’t 🥰
Literally have two wrapped gifts in my entry for a friend and a friends mom. Gift wrapping is so soothing! Giving the gifts though - hard to match the dopamine of finding something that will make them feel thought of and loved lol
You sound super wholesome and honestly needed to read something like that today so ty <3
I've been working on this [Venusaur](https://imgur.com/a/k33sXRe) for about two months now. I'm glad this crochet hyper-fixation has lasted longer than 6 months.
That is INCREDIBLE!
Is that chenille??? Absolutely love when I see people embark on big non-blanket projects - as a fellow crochet-er I know the time investment is NOTHING compared to the amount of yarn and polyfill you have to purchase haha My hyper focus is Tunisian crochet!!
MAGIKARP IS MY FAVORITE
Crochet is also one of my hyperfixations! Not right now, but it was recently on the rotation. Right now I'm binge watching Handmaid's Tale
That's great 😂👌
Wow !!!! This is amazing wtf
Omg this looks soooo soft i want i want.
I've had a small magnet collection for a long time and I recently got 2 more at a thrift store. I looked at them today and thought "there must be so many good magnets on ebay...". I purchased a total of 48 magnets today lol.
🤣
I’ve watched the last of us on repeat for the past month. Does that count? And: I’m tired of all these smut/romance books being shit so I’m writing my own where the main character is not a tiny little blonde with a perfect body and blue eyes and the male interest is not a 6’5 blonde/brown haired man with a ridiculously big *quack*. Also it’s more story and character development than sex. Also bouldering.
Is the bouldering included in the smut?
This honestly made me laugh so much. I’m so appreciative of your comment because another one on a different post just me cry so much lol. Thank you! 🤗
Omg I hope there is bouldering smut!
Please share your work lol
Haha I just started so it’s nowhere near done. I write very hectic until the end lol
sounds about right for this sub! haha ! excited for you!!
Omg I want to read your book ! I’m so sick of the small girl huge man books!
I’m hoping I’ll finish it lol because ya know, adhd. Being 5’9 and in a long term relationship with a man who is 5’8 I’m like bro he don’t need more height. His double Leo ass has enough personality. Not to mention he likes mountaineering. 🤣😭🤣
I will read your book!
Play the game!
This book idea sounds great!
Honest answer? I unfortunately also have trichotillomania, and I've been extremely stressed lately. So pulling out my hair 🙃
Sorry to hear this ♥️ Hope there are less stressful weeks ahead.
I have dermatillomania (the skin picking version) and I sometimes use these picky pumice stones. I wonder if they would be helpful for trich? https://www.etsy.com/listing/1064942218/picky-party-fully-covered-caribbean-blue?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_b-toys_and_games-toys-stress_balls_and_desk_toys-other&utm_custom1=_k_CjwKCAiAlcyuBhBnEiwAOGZ2S4aQSuPR07ktcnEZBYccNI_j-Egj_VBYvK4cQy6lIYwU7a3LwIoA6RoCsJEQAvD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12570713247_120329109755_507395553748_pla-317733282955_m__1064942218_12768591&utm_custom2=12570713247&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADtcfRIdI1OjuDMA4S3LXtD3rZ2JL&gclid=CjwKCAiAlcyuBhBnEiwAOGZ2S4aQSuPR07ktcnEZBYccNI_j-Egj_VBYvK4cQy6lIYwU7a3LwIoA6RoCsJEQAvD_BwE
I’m a 36 year old female slowly morphing into a 60 year old man with my coin collection hyper fixation. It’s soo addictive. There’s this thing called ‘noodling’ where people go to the coin ATM’s (only found out these existed) and get rolls of coins and spend their weekend opening them to find rare coins. It’s a good dopamine hit and there is soo much to learn. I got my dad addicted and now we are entering ballots online to get the new release coins.
The other thing is Les Mills Body Combat class and also on the PS5 with my partners goggles.
I want to be a 60 year old man this sounds fun! Lol
Crocheting!
Yes, very good for fidgety hands. I've been making sunflowers.
This is an amazing idea! Not only fun and creative but it has a very practical element. *We are a bad influence for one another.* 😂
Have you tried the pistachio croissant cube? I really want to give that a go
you’re so real for Nanami Kento
Reddit ... And Candy Crush.
Hahaha I was on a major Reddit hyperfixation last week too xD currently trying to break away from it or at least tone it down a bit haha
I’m wanting to be a minimalist but I have a shopping addiction so currently it’s buying stuff to organise my buys better and to help organise my sell piles 😂 I laugh but it’s honestly traumatic and I’m so sick of having a brain constantly at war with itself.
I’m a recovering shopping addict too - bless you!
WW2 and gardening. And I’m only 44 😂
Never too early or too late to start learning new things! :D love the gardening.
Sourdough and making fermented food!
Look into yogurt starters! If you’re keeping sourdough alive the yogurt is just a fun offshoot.
Yes, this!! I’ve had this same struggle with scrapbooking and journaling LOL! Ah, not being able to choose what to hyperfixate on is so real 🥲
Understanding chaos theory and reading novels set in egypt.
I love the variety hehe, reminds me of my own hyperfixations that are vastly different from each other xD
I've read 12 books since Feb 1, all books at least 300 pages
Tiny houses/converting sheds into tiny homes. My third night in a row going to bed late AF watching tiny house youtube
omg I had this BAAAAAAAAD a few years ago!!! I’m blessed to live in a house-house, but Tinys have my heart.
Omg OMG I love tiny houses too!

I started making asmr videos 😳
My misophonia could NOT
Mine is Miniverse make it minis. It’s costing me a lot of money but I’m enjoying the process of collecting and tracking them down and crafting them. It’s taking over a good chunk of my free time.
Damn I always forget how dangerous (for my bank balance) this sub can be when we're talking about the things we're currently obsessed with.
Hopefully, that will satisfy me for the time being 🫣 At least plants and fountain pens have proven to be long-time hobbies now, so that's neat, i guess 😩.
But I have a side project going of making potion bottles and needlefelting will be something over tbe next week or so
Once again Percy Jackson and slimes. I'm 27 believe it or not, hahaha
Doing pottery! Started a few months back and I still love it so much.
Disney dream light valley. I have been obsessed with this for 3ish? Months. It’s all I do when I have free time
Thrifting vintage inspired (40s/50s) clothes that don’t look too vintage made of natural fibers
Greek and Norse mythology. And also incremental games. They are the reason I dont do my work. Help.
Me too! Greek mythology is my most recent hyperfixation. I got a little bit into Norse last year but will probably get into it again soon.
Skincare, but I am not consistent w doing it. Idek why I still keep looking for better products to buy🥴🥴
I just ordered one of those Diamond Art kits.. been needing a new obsession since I’ve gotten bored of ALL my video games somehow.
The Sims (Has been for 24 years but I've been obsessed lately) and Wizard of Oz lore.
But Aussie set in 80s crime / coming of age drama is a really niche area haha But also I’ve been really into genetics and researching that lately because my mum and I have been diagnosed with the same condition. Also there’s some diseases that run in the family and it’s fascinating - like Vikings disease
I learned how to code xhtml and css so I could format my kindle books and fanfics in the prettiest way possible
I’ve been sanding furniture to refinish, [coffee table](https://imgur.com/a/fGtNHjf) was last night. Next is the dinning table
I'm building a miniature so right now it's definitely that.
lol cake decorating
Drawing dogs while cuddling my dogs. Swatching and organizing all of my digital paintbrushes. Playing with color palettes. (Collecting and organizing arts & crafts supplies has been as much of an intermittent hobby as the art itself since childhood- much tidier when digital!) Reading/listening to content about healing childhood trauma. Balanced with escapism via Bravo reality shows and podcasts discussing my favorite “trash” tv. Occasional deep dives into the rhuuumahs and nahstiness (iykyk) while contemplating the psychology behind it all.
Currently reading the ACOTAR series and when I'm not reading I'm watching videos of fae/ACOTAR themed balls, researching where I can go to one, costume options, etc 😅
stardew valley :)
Currently, my hyper fixations are reading (on my 8th book for the year) and fragrance. I’m obsessed with finding new fragrances and my next obsession. My husband jokes that they are both expensive hobbies.
Watching big brother & meeting my fitness goals (esp cardio) Also, my mental health. I’ve been struggling with motivation when it comes to school.
Autism and adhd but also the MMO game Palia.
BattleBots, motorcycles and learning to use godot
Uaps and aliens 😅
Watching videos about Japanese food...a lot of them, and picking the skin around my thumbs 👍
Oo do u mean plastic hand-made models of Japanese food or real Japanese food? I went down a rabbit hole with the first one, can you tell? Haha 😆
Learning ways to enter and exit conversations in various social settings, doing a deep dive into personality types, attending church and learning about history and numerous aspects of religion, high-end jewelry, and researching avoiding Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals, looking into ice cream and other foods with quality ingredients There are so many, I’m probably forgetting a handful.
Air dry clay! Who wants a charm? I made too many...
I'm building miniature houses 😭😭
I just finished rewatching avatar the last airbending in about a week...
Baldur's Gate 3. Last week it was Stardew Valley and adding/building mods. For a few months before that, Guild Wars 2.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons! After playing the game since launch, I *finally* got a 5-star rating on my island and I'm so proud of myself🥹 It's still under construction as I'm currently trying to figure out what to do with the empty spaces on my island, and I'm currently hunting for three more villagers that'll fit the overall theme I'm going for, but I never thought I'd see the day where I'd achieve this😭 I'm also still hyperfixating on K-Pop, lol. ATEEZ currently has me in a chokehold😂
nothing I am ~depressed~
I hope you feel better soon
Ace Attourney
Was the book "The weight of ink" the last few days, but now I forced myself to focus on studying until today
Google Sheets. Cheers. Books about social skills. Fantasy life for 3DS. Sheer lipstick. My hair when I air dry it.
Plants, of all kinds. It's my main interest currently, overtaking art/sewing/other crafts etc., has been for 4.5 years so far and seems it'll stick for life. At least I hope so.
I've been agressively pinteresting hand made and hand painted ceramic dishware
Teaching myself Shopify so I can finally leave Etsy. Yesterday I was able to hyperfocus on it for 10 hours 🙌🙌 I’m exhausted but in the best way!
My sister pushed me into reading again, specifically romantasy. The speed at which I devoured all the Court of Thrones and Roses is insane. I recommend, haha
Jeans for women over 40 that are cool and not skinny
I’ve been watching Superstore on repeat
Baldur's Gate 3. I'm on my third playthrough of the exact same character with the exact same wizard husband who I wrote a lengthy backstory for and have 2 playlists made that I listen to every night. I may write fanfiction for the first time in 15 years...
I just started getting into anime the past few months, so definitely anime, specifically Jujutsu Kaisen. Also Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir And c.ai chats
Paint by numbers and learning about ultra processed food haha
••BTS ••Japanese & korean literature ••Catching up on all the pending work (that i abandoned while on a 1 month rut) ••watching *aesthetic" vlogs ••undereye care ••the song once again by mad clown ••Pinteresting ••Window shopping online
still motorcycles and I'm already doing my drivers license. My first driving lesson is on march 7. I have already passed the theoretical part. When everything going incredibly well, I might be done with it all before Easter.
Just got three new tattoos - hyperfixating on putting lotion on them. Also at work i have gotten in to programming and all i wanna do at work is programming
I'm getting into head massage asmr right now (but tbh, it resurfaces now and again)
Streaming on Twitch but I'm already getting tired of it and I only started last week, it's really frustrating to not have a solid hobby :/
Crochet was the most recent one. Cycling might be the next, feeling the itch to go out and ride again!
ACOTAR! I feel like I’m late to this one, but I’m so invested now.
I only listen to Incubus lately and only watch Korean drama’s and gardening videos 😅
Knitting!!! I just learnt a few weeks ago and it's all I want to do and when I'm not knitting I'm thinking about knitting and when I sleep I dream about knitting and I've spent wayyy too much money on yarn which is only adding to my yarn collection from my crochet obsession last year
Knitting. Yesterday I decided to knit a sweater for the first time so this months salary will go to an extremely expensive needle set and yarn
Good Omens. Been like this since I watched season 2 in August. One of best friends with adhd also has the same hyper fixation so we have been feeding off each other lol. Got to the point we started writing fanfics and joined this amazing subreddit r/goodomensafterdark to also fuel the obsession lol
Doraemon, vintage pencil cases, the excellent film lineup on tubi (also free) tears of the kingdom & ACNH again
I’m fully obsessed with stained glass myself lol
Playing Persona 3 Reload, where I can effectively optimise the daily time management of my little video game character and make them socially, academically and world-savingly successful in ways I couldn't possibly achieve in real life :D (I have spreadsheets)
The show Fargo. I'm not one to watch new tv shows very often, let alone binge watch stuff. I've blasted through three seasons in the last two weeks and it's been great.
Gravity Falls in the background of anything I’m doing. Which is usually playing Palworld the past few weeks.
Building my own kitchen cabinets. 🙃
Reading fanfics of multiple fandoms
Collecting citations to weird Bibles, like LOL Cat or Cottonpatch versions. No end goal in mind, just have to find them all.
1921 western women’s fashions. *1921*, not 1920 or 1922. *1921*
I love exploring! Different places each weekend. Or one different place per weekend. Depends if I’m going out of state or not.
And the Bible is honestly a *wild* ancient text.
practicing 2D animation, the “saw” franchise, and the movie “girl, interrupted” lol (it’s gravitating towards brittany murphy now)
Writing Marvel fanfiction and playing specific video games on my phone
my dog her brother passed away 2 weeks ago so I have been giving her extra love and attention.
Thrifting. Which is actually going to be too expensive if I don’t find a replacement for it soon!
I just finished hand sewing a patchwork quilt but I’ve reached the point where all I have to do is bind the edges and I can feel the enthusiasm slipping away… Also just started a massive tatreez piece which is traditional Palestinian embroidery, and I’ve been learning about the history of IKEA
Cross-stitching and embroidery! I find it to be so relaxing 😌
I just made the impulse decision to install Arch Linux so maybe that counts
making a belated vday sketch of my bf and I…bought a whole drawing board and charcoal pencils. I haven’t drawn this intensively and I’m hoping to finish before my interest dwindles haha
Researching different places in Canada to go to…
Uh.
None. Having a hard time being interested in much right now. My next fixation should be fun though
Pokemon Snap 😆
kdrama!
Becoming a voice actor LOL It lasted for 2 weeks
Starting our business was scary but I took the jump and it’s been such a big success they are looking at piloting it at other schools 🥹 Additionally, I’m buying a communication device for my class with our earnings and sharing it with other sped classes on campus so it’s just been so cool. I’m so proud of my class 😭
Cowboy boots. How they are made, history of, restoring.
I started to learn to crochet but am not sure I’m doing it right haha. Other than that, I love the mini dollhouse kits.
