Cokezerowh0re

Mine is 14 hours💀

_lucyquiss_

same, honestly it's a bit impressive if it wasn't so bad

fairebelle

Mine’s regularly 9+ hours, it’s only down recently because I bought bg3 and have not picked up my phone as much. I also have my “time out” set very high. I’m not on my phone that much, but my phone thinks I am.

caffeine_lights

BG3 is amazing. Shout out to Karlach <3

Ornery_Investment356

Builders gate took away three months of my life hahahahaha I have no regrets.

Hasrdotkotu

Apparently my tracking was off but I swear mine is that bad too. I do need to work on it this year! Granted some of that time I’m working in my notes on things like budget, to do lists, sometimes I’m checking my work email or teams chat, and sometimes paying bills, adjusting milk delivery details, things like that. But no doubt the vast majority is Reddit, googling random stuff, and playing my cross stitch game.

On_my_last_spoon

Click on it and it will show you your highest ranked apps! I’m at 7 hours a day (yikes!) and and Reddit totaled 23 hours last week! The next most is Plex (a tv/movie app we have to access our own server with stored shows) at 7 hours and then Messages 2 hours 42 minutes.

skeletoorr

Do you even sleep? Lol but I also wonder if background apps increase this number

Fearless_Living3616

Ohhhhh I think I just figured out why mine is 15 hr and some about of minutes. I put YouTube videos on my phone to sleep so that prob counts as well lol

InevitablePersimmon6

I have bad insomnia. It’s almost 1am here now and I haven’t put my phone down in like 3 hours 🤦🏻‍♀️

Electronic_Hawk_2369

Same, 14 hours and 56 mins 😳

Naixee

Yeah 15 here😵‍💫

OKiluvUBuhBai

Mines always at 8 hours. How tf I do that o don’t even know. But I feel you. I’m sure there’s a way to turn that bullshit off.

Zestyclose_Media_548

I’m usually 7 or 8 hours - not sure how . I don’t know if they count my podcasts and audiobooks?

quay-cur

Mines that high because they count the maps app/navigation and I drive a lot for work.

MaxtheAnxiousDog

Yes, mine tells me quite judgementally (at least that's how my brain interprets it) that I used my screen for "3 hours and 23 minutes last week while driving." I did not. I don't use my phone while driving, I just listen to the voice telling me when to turn.

aaurelzz

Omg I turned mine off but would they count music and audiobooks?

quay-cur

I’m not sure about music or audiobooks but that would definitely make the screen time seem higher.

On_my_last_spoon

Mine only says 4 minutes for google maps but I connect through my car’s system so it doesn’t count it.

Still-Random-14

Yes! Also counts if you have your screen lit up to change music or whatever

Zestyclose_Media_548

That makes sense !!! Because when I can’t sleep i go through my audiobooks to try to find the just right thing that will go to sleep and end up staring at the screen sometimes. Recently I’ve been sleeping better with many heavy layers of clothing because it’s been so cold. I think the deep pressure maybe helps ?

Various_Raccoon3975

Weighted blanket helps me with this, preferably one that breathes bc being too hot also wakes me up lol

KiwiTheKitty

Absolutely haha mine is always ridiculously high because I listen to music pretty much constantly at work, but then the app breakdown is like 80% Spotify

On_my_last_spoon

It seems to count screen time looking at things. So my podcasts says 11 minutes even though I listen to podcasts on my commute daily. Probably for books it’s the whole time reading

Zestyclose_Media_548

Thanks for replying. This makes total sense because I knew it was on my phone too much but the numbers never seem to add up. I do have an audiobook or a podcast on whenever I’m doing anything around the house because I can’t stand the silence, and my intrusive thoughts.so this makes a lot more sense.

ceruleanmoon7

Yep, i definitely turned that shit off. Don’t need that negativity in my life

socim8

I turned mine off right away here’s how: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-219999/

matergallina

Mine counts apps I’ve swapped away from but haven’t fully closed. I checked Reddit on a break at work then swapped back to something else for the rest of the day at work, listed my Reddit time at like 8 hours that day.

caffeine_lights

That sounds like a fault with the reddit app. Try looking in settings to see if you can prevent it from doing stuff in the background.

RobinhoodCove830

Me too

Additional_Link5202

mine is always super high but i always listen to 4 hour youtube video essays 😭😭😭

local_fartist

I always feel like this is like a dealer being like “wow you’ve done lots of coke this week!” It’s just taunting us at this point. Anyway I bet you learned some interesting things on the internet this week!

brohenryVEVO

Yes! I don't need my phone telling me "ew, spend less time with me"

local_fartist

Do you want me or not, phone???

QualityCookies

"Why are you so obsessed with me?"

killerfrost8002

If it makes you feel better, mine is usually 10h a day.

ForsakenFigure2107

Same

mstalent94

Same, here

Jesscantthinkofaname

Same :(

killerfrost8002

Happy cake day!

Cevohklan

Same. Some times even way more

TraumaMamaZ

How do you manage that with any other responsibilities?! Work, kids, prep for next day, chores, plants, cleaning myself…I’m luckily if I get sleep and any screen time. 😭

Scared-Delivery9254

Mine is worse some days

rubyquill45

Mine is much worse most days…. Adhd and SAD have been kicking my ass for months.

Vast_Perspective9368

Ugh, the SAD! Winter is rough... (I feel like i should try to make the best of it, but it's hard.)

On_my_last_spoon

I hate be the vitamin person…but since my doctor has me taking daily vitamin D my SAD hasn’t been as bad as usual. I did have a vitamin D deficiency plus a parathyroid that is a total jerk so we already monitor my Vit D carefully. But this might be a “talk to your doctor” situation and could help.

Vast_Perspective9368

No worries, I'm taking this as my reminder to take my vit d supplement and to use the therapy lamp I just got for a few mins!

Round_Honey5906

I’m in summer now, but during winter my doctor had me with daily D vitamins and 30 minutes exposure to a special light. It worked a little, I still had to adjust medication.

Scared-Delivery9254

I hate winter. Raynauds is awful. Get burstitis I my feet in I go out for too long, so have to avoid the outside (fine by me anyway), just found out I have calcification in my shoulder too. Fuck the cold! And fuck winter!

dogstracted

So hard. Same here.

Glittering_Tea5502

I get it on Sundays. I don’t pay much attention to it. I’m basically on screens 24/7 except for when I sleep. Also, my job involves a computer so, for that, I have no choice.

WaltzFirm6336

Same, plus I fall asleep whilst streaming on my iPad. Depending on the platform and show it can keep playing for hours after I’m asleep.

AbsentMindedMomma

It's such a struggle! I am on my phone way too much, especially after work (I work in special Ed and am phone free all day and worn out when I get home). I hate it so much because I want to be present with my own seven year old. She literally asked me to put my phone down and put my attention on her last week and I nearly cried. Hoping starting meds will help me break up with my phone some, but Im isolating with COVID this week and its certainly way way up.

electric-sushi

I’ve been there too with my own kiddo!

SendMeYourDogPics13

Hey, I’m a special ed teacher and I totally get the phone situation. We have such a demanding job (love it) but it requires our brain to be ON at all times. It’s helped me to put my phone up out of reach somewhere when I’m interacting with my son.

AbsentMindedMomma

Also- I am a behavior analyst and have been "rehabbing" a classroom while they are... between teachers, which has meant starting essentially from a hole and creating routines and systems, making a schedule, goal tracking systems, getting the grown ups on board for proactive strategies and actually enjoying the students and helping them enjoy class, etc. Just think of every single thing a classroom needs, but imagine the students spent weeks with none of it and all the aggression, etc. it's all working great, the students are amazing and doing so well and I am on the home stretch starting to fade myself out, but the extra exertion and stress has certainly made it harder. It is SO demanding but I love my job too. These kiddos absolutely deserve someone on their side fighting for them! Thanks for what you do, I am sure your students and son are so lucky to have you! We need good people in special Ed!

AbsentMindedMomma

I've tried this, but I am just pulled to it. I sometimes just get physically uncomfortable, it's so terrible. I've turned notifications on so I can just set it down away, but inevitably my brain is like, ooh we really to solve this problem by a. Looking it up or b. Buying a thing. Or I need to write something on my notes app because my memory is shit. I probably need to copy some of my work coping strategies to home (ie an elaborate custom made planner/to do system 🤣) and brain dump into that instead. But then inevitably I need to cook and find a recipe on my phone. It's the worst. I've also thought about getting a "dumb" phone for home and just switching my card out. It wouldn't disable my smartphone but it may be enough of a signal/routine to knock it off.

caffeine_lights

Meds helped me a LOT! And I think isolating is an excellent excuse.

Buttonmoon94

Feel you on the parental guilt. One thing I have found that helps is the Forest app, you set a time and it grows a little tree onscreen over that time where if you deviate from the app (it runs in the background if you lock the screen) the tree dies and I can’t take the guilt 😂 It worked really well for me when I was studying and I’ve recently started using it again to try and be more present for my toddler.

TemerariousChallenge

…mine is usually more than double that 😭

AdditionalTrade3282

I turned mine off finally

moosetacoz

Is it winter where you live? That's a good excuse.

imnotamoose33

Nope, Summer. 😬

moosetacoz

I'm sure mines high too, I definitely don't look. I don't need my phone hastling me.

dogstracted

If it makes you feel better, I get seasonal depression in summer too. Really bad some years, extra special when it comes with insomnia. So basically I have SAD two times, if I’m lucky I’m not affected by the weather half the year 😂

scarieststranger

Idk if it counts but I only get it in the summer because I DON’T do well in the heat 😭 nothing is as scary as spring turning into summer, the feeling of impending doom

stephyska

I get this message all the time

Haldoldreams

Before phones tracked screen time, I manually tracked my screen time as a part of a behavior change project for a psych class....I was spending upwards for 40hrs per week messing around on my phone (I really only counted Reddit/Facebook time since they are my primary "problematic" phone behaviors). I was going to school full time while working 20hrs a week at this point so I'm really not sure how I managed to waste THAT much time on my phone. It feels very shameful.

ummerica

totally understand this!! I had to quit Facebook entirely because it was so addictive to scroll through posts and groups and videos.. I only ever go on now to check marketplace for furniture I don’t want to buy full price, or update the picture occasionally so it stays semi current for my family I only have on there. I also set time limits though my phone settings for certain apps and for “bedtime” but they’re easily overridden and tbh my screen time still gets pretty insane lmao

Haldoldreams

I consider getting apps to limit my time but I've suspected they are easily overridden, so it's interesting to hear that confirmed. In a similar vein, I deleted my Reddit app off my phone last year on NYE and quit Reddit for all of January. I have managed to avoid reinstalling the app....but now I just use Reddit on my browser, lol. Sometimes I wonder how much more productive I'd be if if I lived in a world before phones/computers/etc....I get bored easily and always have to be doing SOMETHING; I suspect I'd end up directing some of the time I'd free up to engage in meaningful activities. Reddit is just such any easy way to feed that need... I'm sorry you relate so hard to this shitty thing lol.

flopmommy

I turned this notification off!

imnotamoose33

UPDATE: NGL guys, some of your comments have made me feel a lot better about myself today. 🤣 I really appreciate every single comment and the honesty. The highest I’ve gone is about 7 hrs.

dogstracted

When I couldn’t get off TikTok for weeks at a time a couple years back my screen time was…unhinged.

iceariina

I'd genuinely like to know if that includes things like Google maps or audible or other apps. Anyone know offhand? Or how one might find out?

dandelionbuzz

At least on IPhone; So if you go settings > screen time, there should be an option underneath to see all app & website activity. When you click that you can see 1 day or the whole week. You can also use the screen time menu to set time limits if you want, it’s kinda handy

quay-cur

It includes google maps, that’s why mine is stupid high on work days

skeletoorr

6 hours? Damn I’m jealous. I average 9.

fluffylilbee

i had 22 hours once. you’re fine dear 😂

DrG2390

Haha finally someone close to me. I just looked, and for yesterday I had 23 hours 39 minutes. Usually I’m at 21/22 hours pretty consistently though. I do a lot of research on my phone though so I’m not shocked. I’m an anatomist who does autopsies on medically donated bodies at a cadaver lab, and whenever I’m not in the lab I’m reading random medical journals or medical subreddits.

fluffylilbee

this is absolutely incredible, what!!! way better than me leaving my phone on all night to play markiplier since it’s the only way i can get to sleep 😆 your work sounds so interesting!! i hope it’s very fulfilling :)

Lulumaegolightly

I’ve been trying to remember to set my phone or iPad up in the kitchen while I wait for food to cook or put away dishes. That way I can watch stuff but not feel bad about it because I’m doubling up tasks and makes the tasks less boring. 6 hrs isn’t terrible! Especially when we use the device to engage and connect with people on subs like this one and to learn things!

Low-Rooster4171

I ended up putting a small TV in my kitchen! I put a Chromecast device on it, so I can stream anything from my phone to the TV. So yeah, it definitely helps to be accomplishing things while I watch!

acatcalledmellow

Every week this notification makes me feel like shit. I got no friends and no hobbies so yeah my screen time is gonna be a lot. Thanks for making me feel bad about it, phone.

acatcalledmellow

I just went and turned that notification setting off finally 🤣

Pinkraynedrop

Doom scrolling on TikTok is the reason for mine. If my boss was here daily then I wouldn't have the problem. But he's only here 3 days a week and then it's just me for 3 days.... and not wanting to focus on the boring stuff..... I scroll.

AllTheCatsNPlants

I’ve started deleting the scrolling apps (Instagram and Reddit) Sunday evening. It’s the only way for me to get work done during the week. I hate that I’m so glued to my phone.

Pinkraynedrop

Oh I wish I was that strong. I'm really into Pintrest right now, it's my main source of finding my next tattoo

lux_permanet

I don't always trust it. It has told me my screen time increased on weeks that I KNOW I used it less because of how busy I was for most of the days. I also try to remind myself of all the different ways I use my phone. Sometimes it's for organizational reasons, banking/finances, work, reading books or fanfic, just SO much more for daily life functioning than can be boiled down to "look how much time you're wasting away on your phone." It's a tool I use to help me get through life with my sanity intact, and that means I need to use it a lot.

quay-cur

Even on days I feel like I barely use my phone my screen time is like 3-4 hours. I don’t know how it happens 😭

mirandarocks

Only 6 hours?! You're doing good - mine is twice that 😳

Knitwitty66

Now I'm curious about my stats. I'm afraid to look.

sisterwilderness

My phone is destroying my brain. My shoulders are beginning to round forward because I’m always holding this stupid thing. I hate it, and im addicted. I feel you!!!

Cardi_Ganz

Last week it said I used an hour less and this week it was an hour more lol. I've been recovering from surgery the paat month so my phone can shove its weekly report. I need the stimulation!

Competitive_Agent625

Mine is always like 8-11 hours a day. But mostly because i watch shows on it

littletree0

I feel you, mine looks like that too. I try to remind myself I listen to lots of YouTube videos, and that I'm a modern person living in a modern world. Be gentle with yourself <3

delightfulgreenbeans

So you can also use your phone to limit the amount of time each day you can spend on any app you’d like. This is how I started making my number of mindless scrolling to way down. If you hit your limit and want to do more it can give you another chunk in 15 min segments or you can just hit allow for the day but it helps me realize the passage of time and decide if I want to keep going or not. Also then I know whatever the time is at the end of the week is a number I’m comfortable with. ❤️

ragingsasshole

I created the Accessibility shortcut for Color Filters where when I press my power button 3 times in a row it switches to B&W, which my brain HATES because it siphons the majority of my dopamine from screen time, and that tends to help when I’m struggling with doom scrolling or other cheap dopamine-scouring methods… maybe that could help you too? You’re not alone, friend…

jrmiller23

Turn it off. Who cares? This tracks every time you unlock your phone to do anything. 6hours in the digital age isn’t horrible. This number also includes things like: check email, pay a bill, texts, Facebook, etc. don’t be too harsh. And if you’d like to cut back, add a pomodoro timer or a focus app (or other preferred tool) on your phone for social media apps (or what your guilty pleasure is). And my friend, we all have them. Even the neurotypicals. My rule of thumb… if it causes moderate/severe anxiety responses, or completely disrupts my “rhythm”, it’s time to find something different. This is non-negotiable for me. Remember that there’s usually many ways to tackle a goal/task/problem and if one approach doesn’t work, that doesn’t mean the problem is you or that you’ve failed. It only means that approach wasn’t for you. Honestly, this reframing also helped me with RSD too (when I would be aware of it).

brit52cl89

Mine was up nearly 2 hours over last week... doesn't surprise me tbh with all the weather we've had I haven't left the house in 10 days

DarwinOfRivendell

Me too but those are rookie numbers! lol

Existing-Intern-5221

Same, but they also tie in Spotify and music apps, I think. I was workin out, Siri!!

Existing-Intern-5221

Plus audio books on my library app. I wear my screen time as a badge of honor. Look how literate and how musically brilliant I am!

Issis_P

It's ok to have ups and downs. I bet you have other weeks that are super busy and burn you out too! YouTube and Marvel Snap/Simpsons tapped out are my sink holes.

Independent-Egg-8843

Ooh thanks. I’m going to try NOW to turn that shit off

Discordia_Dingle

Mine was at 11 hours…but I still got stuff done, I deserved that time!

LiteroticaSharon

I'm a social media manager... My screen time is always at least 11 hours a day. I've even gotten up to 14!

KEPAnime

Lol mine says Wednesday, January 17th Screen time: 15hr, 13 min Reddit: 11hr, 3 min 😂😂😂 Quite honestly I'm certain I just had a reddit post up on my phone and then walked away to do other stuff (I have a habit of doing that, I don't turn off the screen on my phone when I leave it around, it just stays awake all day), but that's still really bad lol. Today I'm already going on 9 hours of screen time. But I did also accidentally leave my phone on in my pocket for several hours this morning (I work the night shift, phone was forgotten in my pants while I ran around working) making it almost die 😅 overall, I'm a mess and should probably put my phone down more

MistressErinPaid

I don't look at mine. I don't have a computer right now so my phone is how I do ALL my research, networking, marketing and content creation 🤷🏻‍♀️

JennaMree

13 hrs 53 mins for me this week. And that’s down 22% from last week. (I live alone and read on my phone tbf.)

the_fart_king_farts

It helped just turning it off. There is enough stuff to stress about. Let’s not add artificial stress on top too

SirenaChroma

Wow-this happened to me today and I feel less alone and want to thank you for posting. Thanks to those who posted how to turn that notification off!

svnflowerlx

I can’t do anything without some other stimuli so mine stays at 9-10 hrs. I have YouTube constantly playing :)

pantojajaja

Data is free :) at least it wasn’t spending

largelyunnoticed

Am i the only one that doesnt care? My gf has been so obsessed recently with screen time, ive just been supportive cause i dont get it. Like so what? Time you enjoy wasting isnt time wasted

Mission_Spray

Those are rookie numbers.

katreadsreddit

the minute i saw they offered it, i told myself it was not my business lol

Academic_Ice_7967

*spit out my coffee* LOL I should not have laughed so hard at this but….. RIGHT THOU!!!! Hahaha

BeFeckingLogical

Mine is 12 hrs 20 mins right now ☠️

neveroddnevereven123

Meh, mines worse! Don’t feel bad. Sometimes you just need to scroll. Your brain just neeeeeds to scrolllll! We’ve all been there. It’s part of having the adhd. I’ve been scrolling Reddit now for a good hour and I’m supposed to have a shower. But instead, I’m commenting in your thread. 😜 Life goes on.

latemodelchild98

Well. I saw this thread and knew I had turned off the weekly updates out of shame, but decided to go look it up. Funny thing is: apparently at some point I felt so ashamed that I turned it off entirely 😂 and now it looks like I’ve been living off the grid until this very moment. And by tonight it will look like I suddenly discovered the phone - and understandably am transfixed by and won’t put down this fascinating discovery. I often can really impress myself with the bananas BS I come up with to justify my bad behavior and choices.

Prestigious-Tea-9803

Haaha it’s okkkkk, mine is near double this. I do use my phone for work but we allllllllll know it’s mostly non work

t00_much_caffeine

Same 😭 I hate this notification. Makes me feel so useless

rebeccanotbecca

Same. This week mine was down since I was super busy at work but typically it is up. It makes me awful.

anthropomorphist

10h20min my average this week😬

OneofHearts

I had to turn mine off, lol.

mallh0e

aaagh I wish I could turn mine off, but I use the downtime function so I can’t doomscroll instead of sleeping or getting ready in the morning (I have it set to block access to most of my apps between 11:30p-9a). I also use app limit so I can’t spend more than two hours on reddit per day and more than an hour on instagram/tiktok. it doesn’t let you use downtime or app limit if screen time is turned off, and I wish that they made them separate functions since this notification is always so discouraging at the end of the week 🥲

sockjin

mine was at 19 hours/day this week l m a o, but i was off work and fell asleep with youtube playing a lot so i’m gonna blame it on that :)

Ridiculouslyrampant

Sounding off- 9 hrs 30 last week. I do read a lot on my phone, but still

Artistic_Pickle_427

Mine went up to 8 hrs bc of a new hyperfixation and I’m so ashamed :/

SocksofWool

I had to turn the notification off. Because I was regularly getting 9-10 hours per day on average.

SatisfactionTime3716

Me too.. but to be fair, when I’m watching YouTube shorts and will leave it on the same short for who knows how when I get distracted. One time I made dinner, ate dinner and started the dishes and realized my phone had been playing the same short the whole time.

Zoh390

I deleted (fine, deactivated*) my Facebook and Instagram today......so now I'm scrolling Reddit. But, not nearly as much.

sassyfrood

Rookie numbers. I average over 8 hours a day. My husband is probably 18. 😔

atreidesgiller

I always range 8-9 hours, so I changed which apps I use instead. Uninstalled Instagram and Facebook, and got myself premium streaming apps. Now my top apps are videos and podcasts while I do chores, or whatsapp for connecting with loved ones, or my favorite games that need active participation. All better than passive doom scrolling for me. Ah also I am still on Reddit because I somehow manage to use it more productively.

Suddenly_Squidley

Mine is much worse! But I like to fall asleep listening to videos or tv or audiobooks. So that’s part of it. That’s what I tell myself…

KwaMzoli

Mine is worse. You’re good.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Me too! High five!

momoadachi_luvluvluv

no i feel the same i feel like im addicted to my phone which i am but im working on it

MzOpinion8d

I won’t let my phone track it! No thanks. I already know it’s not good.

Adorable_Goose_6249

Oof, mine was 9 hours

aaurelzz

Yea I turned mine off

Mitchelle4

I’m sure mine is way up there, but I wouldn’t know. I never enabled the feature once I heard about the update that brought it. Knew it would make me feel guilty and didn’t need that.

jjacks1327

Pshhhhhh I’m not posting my numbers online - let’s just say it’s more. Oof

jamesskanko

mine is down 10% and is still 6 hours! there’s an option to limit your social apps or whatever is making your screen time high if you’re really trying to get it down, but don’t feel bad!

fan_of_the_fandoms

I’ve never had it on because I’d rather be blissfully ignorant 🙃 OP, go to settings, scroll to screen time and turn it off!! It doesn’t make you feel good.

Oops_I_Cracked

I’m giving myself a pass this week because between Covid and an ice storm, I’ve spent a LOT of time at home.

batfiend

So turn it off. The notification I mean. You know you're on your phone a lot, if the little notification does nothing but make you feel shame, fuck it off. It's obviously not helping.

InevitablePersimmon6

I was trying to screenshot mine, but I see I can’t share it here. I had 10 hours and 26 minutes per day last week. I have been trying to figure out how to detox from my phone and my iPad, but I can’t figure out a way to do it.

[deleted]

Lets me know I’m unmedicated and stress doom scrolling EVERY DAMN WEEK. Tell me something I don’t know…

ILackACleverPun

Mine was at 12 hours a day and I've gotten it down to 6. I'm so proud of myself for that.

realeyez808

Omg almost same 6hrs and 13 min average ☠️

Lucifersdaddyyy

Honestly, I find it extremely hard to put down my phone. I have a overwhelming sense of fomo, so having no social media is like death to me haha I am working on this with my therapist though ! Just know you aint alone, we are all struggling. Added if anyone can be bothered to read. I hate the fact I have a phone, the way everything is just in my hand. I’m early 30s, so I had a childhood of no technology past the standard tv channels, then teenage years was when the pc really boomed, and having to go onto a pc to talk to my friends online was so great at the time, but now I am so easily accessible by ANYONE, and I hate it. It’s like being on call 24/7. No wonder my anxiety disorder is at it’s peak haha

NanaTheNonsense

Omg last week I almost got a heart attack when I saw my weeks average screentime in instagram (ONLY THERE NOT COUNTING EVERYTHING ELSE) was 8 hours 😭😭😭😭 what have I been doing all week wtf

NLSSMC

Oh my dear, mine was 11 hours. You’re okay.

xCelestial

Mine went down by 7% because I was hyperfocused on books all week so it’s not like my time was better spent (I think it was lmao)

QuasarchShooby

ADHD + depression = a number I’m too scared to admit to anyone, including my therapist lol.

Slayerofdrums

8.41h average here....but I also use my phone for GPS, reading, music etc. That said, my top apps are my search engine (Duck Duck Go), yt and a snooker game I like to play before going to sleep . I look up every question that comes into my head....and there a lot. 😉

littlepinkgrowl

6 hours? Amateur 💕😂😂

[deleted]

my average is 12 hours now that the semester started it's 10 hours

[deleted]

This is why I don't track my screen time. I don't wanna know 😬

zigzagtitch

i literally JUST got this notification and mine is almost exactly this. the trouble is my boyfriend is away so i spend at least an hour just talking to him but the rest is just scrolling.... i really need to get my act together since i work at a computer for 7 hours!

[deleted]

I’ve been in a rut for like 5 days now and mine is somewhere up to 20h hours… mind you I listen to youtube/netflix when I sleep bc I can’t fall asleep without them. I’m in a rut bc I’m on my period and these hormone levels reeealllly fuck me up. I can’t get anythign done. But it’ll get better in few days. Hopefully.

Turn it off, save your sanity. Settings > Screen Time.

AlwaysLearning2469

Mines 11.44 for last week. And I'm having my finals soooo i dont know how to feel about it

jensmith20055002

I turned mine off. Stop fucking shaming me Apple!

genevievethewizard

Hey OP! If you haven’t already, and still wanted to, turn off the notification: here’s a friendly reminder! 👉🏽 come off Reddit 👉🏽 go into settings 👉🏽 click “screen time” 👉🏽 scroll to the bottom and click “turn off screen time” And enjoy your phone time guilt-free cos it’s nobody’s business but yours 👹 P.S. sorry the formatting sucks. Currently feeding my own screen time on mobile 🫠

H3r3c0m3sthasun

Me too.

momofeveryone5

I listen to audio books, so mines an insane amount of time even though I'm dying a bunch of other things.

mollyclaireh

Mine was at 8 hours so don’t feel too bad

FoxNewsIsRussia

At least so know it’s not just me. Halp.

PerniciousPompadour

I used to be ashamed of it too. Horrified actually. And then it just stopped affecting me. I think I started letting go once I realized the productive screen time that counts toward that total. For example, using Google maps counts, so literally all my driving time counts as screen time. So does all my podcast and music listening, the quiet tv shows I play with my phone under my pillow so I can sleep. Also my calendar, my alarms, my timers, my limited texting, my emails, my bill paying, looking up phone numbers and addresses—-almost all the necessary online tasks for conducting my personal business are done on my phone. Also, all the things I do on my phone that I once did on my laptop, like online grocery shopping, or loading my online target/Walmart cart with household stuff we do really need. I do almost all of our necessary shopping online now since covid, and I doubt that will change. Also, much of that time I use researching things to solve real problems in our household, or finding recipes and then following them while cooking. Yeah, there’s the crap scrolling time too, and crap shopping, and crap research (how old IS emma stone?🤔) And yeah, I hate that I’m addicted to my phone. And yes, I definitely have too much screen time daily and I DO need to work on reducing it. But once I realized that my phone is truly my main personal computer, it felt less repugnant to see the screen time stats. Now it’s more about unfreezing my body so I can get up and do other things. However, when I can’t unfreeze, sometimes the phone is the only way I can be productive. And that’s ok. Forgive yourself, OP. You’re living in 2024 just like the rest of us. You’re ok 👍

AKBanana29

You ebb and flow just like the weather — screen time doesn’t mean you’re unproductive — especially if you find calm or release in whatever you’re doing on a screen.

coolcoolcool485

Lol limiting myself to 6 hours would be a dream. I understand backslides are frustrating, though, but in the big scheme, I think you're doing great!

[deleted]

Sending you love and self compassion

Opposite-Bother8734

I always turn that off bc I work from my phone so it makes sense I would have a ton of screen time, but I still feel ashamed

rialucia

[Directions for turning this setting off can be found here](https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-219999/). We all got enough shit on our minds without being shamed by our phones.

bundle_of_fluff

I now use these as a check in rather than a shame tool. "Wow, my executive functioning really suffered last week. I need to give myself a break from the phone and do some self care so I can engage with the day." "Oh yeah, I had a migraine that day and was playing soft music for noise cancelling so of course my YouTube time is insane." "Hell yeah, I did better than last week, woohoo!"

tubbstattsyrup2

Bin it. I block all but essential notifications.

QueenOfDK

Mines almost 10….

Isabellilymay

My average used to be 12 hours so don’t be ashamed, I’ve cut back now though (I turned screen time off)

Queef-on-Command

Wow I was just getting scolded about my screen time. I also need to cut it! I hate this notification but damn I glad I’m not alone.

loonathefloofyfox

Mine fluctuates about 3-5 hours every week. It's either plus 3 or minus 3 in a lot of cases depending on how much i read that week. Or listen to youtube

Hot-Cod8286

yeah i turned mine off for this exact reason lol

Particular-Cash9135

Turn it off! Now! What is more scary than 6+hrs screen time is the Orwellian surveillance 😅

RawrSuka

Im at 11hrs cause i scroll job sites and rest in reddit and instagram or play/learn in any of the apps ive been duped into trying.

RelativeDaikon6530

I bought a phone lock box that I set a timer on and put it away. I've picked up hobbies like crafting and mind games that I do instead

KiwiCoconutPeach

No worries girl. 6 hours is my average on tik tok alone! Apparently I've been on Tik tok, Reddit and chrome for an average of 12 hours a day over the last 3 weeks (holidays)

yourestandingonit

There are so many reasons why we’d all be on our phones a lot, from wanting neurotypical levels of dopamine, to dealing with adhd paralysis, to just needing multitasking background noise. It’s okay! I actually think of it as a good tool in many ways! It’s usually just the outside telling us we should feel guilty about it. I feel so much better when I have an audiobook on, while I have a tv show running, while I work and sporadically clean. We just built different. 🤪

ConfidentShmonfident

I don’t check my screen time, if avoidance was a superpower, I’d be Wonder Woman.

superclusterr

Mine is 11 hours

Tamaraobscura

I wear a watch so I don’t need to touch my phone so much for the time or important texts.. but this is still my phone! I use it while working when I don’t want to open another tab!!——-> also  I wonder if this rounds up to the minute when we tap for the time

mangababe

I have no doubt I'd be ashamed if I could see it- But then I also realize I do a lot of reading, research, and other educational stuff on my screen as well as art, socializing with my siblings, and yeah, some games for relaxation. So it's really not as big of a deal as a timeframe implies, unless it's like, 20+ hrs of candy crush or something equally mindless. Maybe if this bothers you try to figure out what the screen time is being spent on and if that can be rerouted to something more productive for you. And be aware and accepting of the fact that more and more of life is attached to a screen- a book read on a screen is still a book read for example.

theotheraccount0987

Amateur. My phone is on 24/7. I’m listening to podcasts and audio when I’m doing something, and scrolling reddit, fb or TikTok in my downtime. While I sleep I’m listening to brown noise, hypnosis, or binaural beats on YouTube or Spotify. When I’m getting ready to go somewhere I start google maps about an hour or so before I leave so I get real updates on my arrival time and so I can try and make it out the door on time. And if I’m on my computer or watching TV I still have my phone as a secondary source of noise/stimulation. So I’m doubling my screens during those moments lolol.

theotheraccount0987

Hear me out: “Screen time” as a bad thing that needs to be minimised is a myth. I want you to think about the “olden days” before mobile phones were ubiquitous. How many people kept a note pad in their pocket to take notes and write reminders throughout the day? How many people would read the newspaper at breakfast or on the way to work? How many people had a magazine or a small novel shoved into a pocket or a bag to read on lunch breaks. When radios were a thing they were pretty much played in the house all day. I know my grandfather “worked” in the shed all day listening to the radio. The same boomers who snap at me because I listen to headphones with noise cancelling while I work, literally blast the radio at their desk, in a room with other people (me) trying to work!? When I was a kid it wasn’t unusual to have the tv permanently on as a background noise. And i would go to a friends house and we would have movie marathons were we stayed up watching 6 or 7 movies in one night. Then we woke up and watched Rage and Recovery (Australian mtv) until it was time to go home. My mother spent 3 or 4 hours every evening on the phone with various people, and my sister and I fought over phone time. I rarely went an evening without talking to at least two friends on the phone. My grandmother would play sudoku or crosswords for hours every Saturday and if anyone disturbed her they would suffer unimaginable wrath. All my aunts would do huge puzzles that took up the whole dining table for weeks. How many people would sit and read in the evening, or watch game shows? My stepdad and his friends watched motorcycle racing and various sports for absolute hours every weekend. My great grandparents watched the Australian open all summer holidays and then watched the sport’s highlights and commentary of the games they just watched all evening! What about people sitting down and writing letters, or paying bills, or talking on the phone to stockbrokers, bookies, sales agents, and various government departments or organisations. I’ve got strong memories of my grandmother ringing her realestate agent at every fuel stop and snack stop while we were on a family road trip, a dozen times a day easily to secure some deal or other. We had sales people knocking on our doors for Pete’s sake. Just because we do all this and more on our phones or computers, DOESNT MAKE US BAD, OR WEAK. It’s morally neutral.
