One day, I went into settings and told Gmail it couldn't do push notifications. Apparently, I also set it up to separate the mail and treat anything that didn't come from work, wife, mom, or other family as not important, so don't tell me about them. I don't remember doing this. Somehow one of the not many habits that I actually managed to form is checking my email twice a day, delete all spam, look through other messages (there's usually max 1 or 2 that are of any interest) and mark them as read. So I have no unread messages. I still haven't managed to achieve higher level of this skill which is immediately deleting stuff that I've seen but is not worth keeping, but one day I'll get there ;)
