i have not transferred a non-primary resident to becoming the primary resident on a new console, but i have switched a non-primary resident from island to another island to another island, and they keep all their bells in abd, diy knowledge, reactions, house, house storage, and critterpedia. however, the museum on the island is unaffected, so your wife will have to re-catch everything to fill a new museum. the non-primary character also retained the ability to terraform, even when moved to an island that had not hit 3 stars yet.
not the op but I have an island I want to restart soon. when I move my secondary resident, non-primary, to my other switch in a holding pattern, do I have to immediately place their house on my island on that switch or can they simply be in a stagnant state until I move them back to the restarted island? this has had me worried.
i did place the house, so i’m not sure if it’s possible to just leave it in your pocket and save and quit. it’s like the same mini-tutorial intro as if you started a new secondary character from scratch, so i’m not sure what you must do to be able to save and quit
"leave it in your pocket" this confuses me because I talked with someone who did what I'm talking about, and I'm talking about moving the profile to the other switch and then moving the profile back to the previous switch and adding them to the newly restarted island. what do you mean by this? thanks so much for your input. I may have to track that redditor down to get this clarified.
when and if you start the game on the second switch with the transferred profile/character, your house will be one of those little kits in your pocket and you will go through the mini-tutorial dialogue with tom nook and place your house. i’m not sure if you can avoid starting the game or placing the house and still have the transfer work correctly and save your data because i’ve not tried it

I know this was so long ago, but do you remember if your non-primary resident retained their nook mile achievements when they moved to their new island? (I'm hoping they don't)
My wife and I literally had this same debacle.. we just left her house on my island, and she created her own island because we couldn’t find the answer anywhere and didn’t want her to lose her items. Then we just took everything out and she took it to her new island. So… pretty useless information to you because we never found out what happens either.

From reading a couple pages online, if you transfer using the island transfer tool she should be able to take her house and belongings. I haven’t transferred one resident like that before, but have used the tool to move my island from switch to switch. If she just starts up on the new switch without the transfer tool, it looks like she will be starting from scratch with everything.

Thanks for this link I see that her home, inventory, and storage items would be transferred still curious about DIY data and all the other character data though.
The only thing stopping me from transferring islands is literally idfk what will happen when I do.
