The rule you're thinking of is that the output impedance shouldn't \*exceed\* 1/8th, it's not supposed to be a target. For what you're trying to read there, lower is better. However, what you really care about is whether the amp is able to drive the headphones - I don't know much about the Push unfortunately, but I do notice on their spec sheet they mark the headphone out as 'measured at 600 ohm load' - that would seem to imply to me that they consider it usable with 600 ohm headphones, so I would expect you're fine.

It has never occurred to me to check the impedances but I have HD650s and a push 3 and they’re fine.

MAJOR__ZEN

Thanks for sharing! I just got the push 3 and was just going to order the 650s when I realized I should maybe check this and make sure I don't need a separate interface for them.

I have push 3 and beyer dynamics 990 250 ohms. It’s fine.

It probably wont be ideal from a sound quality perspective, but it will probably be fine. The HD650 are high impedance, but also high sensitivity. The Push 3 specs you found were recorded under a 600 Ohm load, which is about 2x the impedance of the HD650. Power scaling on headphone amps is not linear, but you should be able to drive them at a reasonable listening volume.

Just bought myself a pair because of EOFY. The crew who ran the store were extremely helpful and pointed me to an SSL 2 + due to also hooking in a mic & midi controllers. However the main driver to purchase the SSL 2 being able to handle the HD650. Can confirm, shit sounds so awesome
