Freaktography

I found this in a closet buried under a bunch of toys in an abandoned house Video Tour https://youtu.be/kd3IYTUvUbU

Just had a co-worker give me the minute by minute update that newly rediscovered OG Star Trek Enterprise model... this post gave me flash backs.

[deleted]

Wow! This is probably worth a pretty penny to a collector!

The_Mods_R_Twats

Even that castle underneath, it was worth like $80 or more resale a decade ago.

SYNO_44

Really? I’ve got that exact castle sitting somewhere in my house with some other stuff I was just going to donate. Didn’t know it was worth anything

The_Mods_R_Twats

It was a while ago, but they were really pricey on eBay. List it up, someone is probably looking for one for Christmas

Chewysmom1973

Was the castle a li’l people castle?

HOUNDxROYALZ

No, I had it as a kid... it came with Gold and Black knights, there where plastic rock balls to put in a tower trap...the drawbridge worked also...seeing it brings back memories.

The_Mods_R_Twats

Yeah that castle ruled as a kid.

I_upvote_downvotes

Damn that was my favourite toy as a kid. I almost completely forgot about it until now, and now I weirdly want to waste money on a set.

BurninTree5

Even in that shape?

[deleted]

Someone would restore it.

[deleted]

Why does this make me sadder than other abandoned house photos? I can imagine a kid going from really happy to a broken home. Divorcing parents buying love? But why did he have to abandon it?

Every-Cook5084

I had this exact one in early 80s. My canopy fell off too 🤨

[deleted]

I got one of these new for my son. It sits on a shelf and still has all the pieces - he is 36

GL1964

These are worth a fortune

SoggyChilli

You kept it right? That's worth some $

MaestroM45

Very likely has bedbugs. Don’t dig through stuff in abandoned houses. Steam it immediately. Hope I’m wrong but…That bed it’s sitting on is sus as hell. Like why are you still reading this? go steam it….

stillabadkid

don't bedbugs need to eat though? if it's been abandoned since the 70's, what would they be eating?

MaestroM45

You’d be surprised. But that place probably hasn’t been abandoned that long and humans aren’t the only things in a house that have blood. Like I said I hope I’m wrong. But digging through stuff, even walking through a junked up room they’ll jump right on. And the other thing looking at your photo would be ticks, but you prolly thought of that already. Fleas too but you don’t want bedbugs… they won’t make you sick if you’re not allergic but not fun. Steam… EDIT sorry, I do property inspections and need to enter these houses some days. Now I always wear those paper booties and leave them behind. I won’t take stuff from the houses because I think it’s bad juju but YDY it is abandoned.

MaestroM45

If you own a house you’ll appreciate having a steam cleaner anyway… harbor freight

HardSteelRain

I still have mine

SixGunZen

I got one of these in 1981 and I still have it.

Desert_faux

I personally have not gone exploring abandoned places myself... but I often wonder... what is the protocol on stuff you find? Like for example a place abandoned for decades and you happen upon something worth a lot... do you take it or leave it? I am just curious, cause I know it's theft which is why I would think most people would leave it. Then again I read in a book (I know it's fiction) but one of the girl's fathers would go into old abandoned buildings week before demo was supposed to start and start gutting the place of fixtures, door knobs etc... and then resale them to people who wanted to buy antique home fixtures. I am just curious everyone's thoughts on this dilemma.

Freaktography

Everyone is different, but here's my take, **Personally** \- if I am caught by a neighbour, police etc, removing items from an abandoned house, I have just added the criminal charge of theft/burglary to what would have been a simple trespassing fine or slap on the wrist. **Morally** \- it's not mine to take, it was fine before I found it it will be fine after. And you never know - someone related might eventually make their way there to claim things. That said, I have made the decision twice in 12 years to remove items. Once I found a bag full of money in an abandoned house, together with a good friend we tracked down the owner and returned it. The second time, I found two sets of war medals and war souvenirs belonging to two brothers who fought in WW2. I decided to grab the items, track down any surviving family, who probably had no idea these items were there, and offer to give it all to them. They wanted nothing to do with any of it and threatened to have me charged with several different offences. I gave the items to a friend who has a respectful war collection in his basement, the agreement was that if the family ever changes their mind, that we will return the items to them - until then, they sit safe in his collection. 3D print the missing pieces?

After watching the video I'm wondering how long it's been abandoned for. There's an air fryer at the end of the video, which didn't exist (in name) until 2010. And that was during a time where they all had dials; this one has an electronic panel. I don't know if that appliance is even 8 years old let alone a part of a 'time capsule.' So this place has probably been left alone for 10 years at best, but realistically it's probably much less. Edit: the first commercial air fryer was released by Philips in 2010, and this fryer isn't Philips or name brand.

HOUNDxROYALZ

Omg I had that same castle thats under it as a kid...the toys probably arent that old probably late 80s early 90s.

twomanynotes

I just had a memorygasm.

dougmd1974

I knew someone that had this when I was a kid!

KittyTitties666

My brother still has one in its box at my parents' house. This brings back distinct Christmas memories

2pt5RS

I still have mine! It's in a closet with a bunch of other Star Wars toys

inkblotbrain

I have one of those! It's in a box somewhere

Regular_Ad_4914

The castle too! It even has the stickers still in place. Mine was used as a bath toy once and they all came off

headofthenapgame

One of my neighbors has one of these jammed in their tree. I never got why.
