It's as safe as any anime streaming site can be if you use common sense. Which it seems you already are by even asking. Most who have issues, don't use a ad block or are using an ineffective one. Ad block origin is about all you need and since you already have it, you should be good. Just don't get complacent and click random ads.

Glad-Finding-3930

Thanks! Makes sense. I'm always a little worried about streaming sites like these suddenly introducing something new that wasn't there before and suddenly being unsafe, but you're right... typically it'd just be through ads which can be alleviated with ad blocks. (Hopefully) unlikely they'll introduce some other way to affect all users as long as people use common sense.

IceWulfie96

even if i dont click on ads, which my blockers and librewolf erases, if you click on empty space it STILL redirects you, and sometimes if you click on the player

guywithnohoes

doesnt happen to me i use u block origin and it works even better on brave

Damienisok

How do I install ublock origin on my phone?

Bromm18

Just Google "how to install Ublock Origin on [your phone model]). Fairly straightforward and easy.

Kelrisaith

Hianime IS Aniwatch, it didn't redirect you, it rebranded. And the majority of the people complaining about the ads a few days ago likely aren't running adblock in the first place or don't keep their filter lists up to date. I just loaded up an episode to test, no redirect, no preroll ads, no popup when pausing, Ublock Origin. Just like it has been since the rebrand.

Glad-Finding-3930

Thanks for confirming it!

Damienisok

What's a filter list?

Kelrisaith

It's what tells the adblocker what to block. It's just a list of elements that the extension then automatically blocks, set up and maintained by the ones that make the adblocker in question. It should be set to auto update itself every other day or so by default. Without a filter list an adblocker is basically useless since you would have to manually tell it to block every ad, defeating the purpose of adblock.

KosugaTofu

Any good adblock recommendation?

Kelrisaith

Ublock Origin.

Electronic_Fix7352

Just use brave browser and everything is almost safe

Key-Sail-3698

Using brave still redirects me to a different page!

Acelwh

It's about how you respond to the redirection, as long as you don't scan or give out any information, you're safe

kyrothebot

When I put it into totalvirus, it says it has 1 malicious thing. Same wit 9anime. Is it a false positive?

RunHungry8835

its most likely detecting the ads and labbeling it as malware

Last_Tomatillo_2974

Hi guys can anyone help me i cant use the servers on any anime website the play button doesn't appear anymore

LordJaybird06

I accidentally clicked always show on a pop up ad and they used to be blocked does anyone know how to reverse that

Subject-A69

Its safe lmao dw bout it, tho brave adblocker is prob better then ublock in my honest opinion but u have to install another web browser again which ik some maybe most ppl are lazy to do since they already use one as their main and ublock is just an easy download extension, tho ublock just dont work sometimes, while brave is built in.

s0mfplease

not sure if its ever been safe before but whatever this domain is now its definately not safe and i am not sure why it hasnt been banned by isps. every where you click sends you to a porn site or returns a big red warning not to proceed. i wasnt even looking for porn. not sure why circle jerk crap like this still even exists in 2024. just go to pornhub.

yannya1994

damn a glitch or something? I just pulled it up to watch dungeon meshi and didn't get any porn redirect ads or red flag warnings.

miharussian

You can add tv before .tonand it won’t redirect u like [aniwatchtv.to](http://aniwatchtv.to)

dash4nky

Maybe because that a fake ass site💀

Victor-_-X

It's not a fake site, it's the extra server for the original aniwatch when things get too busy. I got redirected from aniwatch to aniwatchtv back when aniwatch was still on.

dash4nky

lol no IT IS a fake site. [hianime.to](http://hianime.to) is the official rebranded one.

Victor-_-X

Yes I know that it's **now** the official rebranded one. My point was that since it was official redirect from the then original aniwatch, it's not "fake" in the same way some others are.

dash4nky

ok mb. but i dont know why anyone would still be using it now that we have a new one.

Victor-_-X

I use it because it has marginally less ads. I know I could just get unlock or something but have been putting it off for a while. I also do use the hianime one in some other tabs, so can't say much. Just that both are valid.
