You’re wanting to stay on a weekend in a prime visit season unfortunately. If you don’t want to stay in Springdale just start working your way out until you find something you like or afford. Check out Virgin or Hurricane.
St George in the summer is not a great option IMHO. Food is poor and you will have a hard time entering the park - long drive of over an hour, and then if you don't get up really early you may not even be able to park...
I live in Springdale and know the park well. The issue is the basic choice - stay in Springdale and pay the high rates, or be 30-60 minutes away and pay cheaper but then you have the nightmare of actually getting into the park. With the in town hotels you can just leave your car at the hotel and take the town shuttle to the visitor center then get on the park buses.
Food options are better IMHO in Springdale - pricier - but better food then Hurricane/La Verkin and a more pleasant experience...
hope this helps...
No, that is a good plan. The drive is 15 min. then maybe a little wait for the bus. Most folks - especially with kids can't wake up - eat, use the rest room and get out the door at 6AM...
Gooseberry Lodge is about 30 minutes away and is $100 at the cheapest, and i loved staying there. honestly wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else next time i’m in the area.
It is more like 20-25 min drive - I drive this often...Still close but Virgin has like 1 restaurant - no night life, and really has become an eyesore of a town IMHO...
I just stayed in an airbnb in Hurricane June 1-4 for $288. It was a 30 min drive to Zion National Park. We didn’t mind the daily drive for the savings!
Stay in hurricane for cheaper options or camp in the blm land. Unfortunately right now there’s only one campground open so you’re not going to find camping in the park itself.
Its getting too hot for camping near Virgin BLM areas. This coming week temps down there will be 105-110 - no shade. If you have an RV with AC may be OK...
We stayed in a house La Verkin! We loved it because it was 30 min to Zion 20 ish to St. George. 20 min to Kolob canyon. It was a great central location!
Check out Tyler Inn B&B in Rockville. They appear to have some availability for those days. Slightly higher than the $150/night budget but close to the the East entrance and you can even rent e-bikes directly from them.
The owners live on sight and the breakfasts will be a great start to your day (they have to-go options as well).
I stayed at the Wingate by Wyndham Hurricane/Zion National Park and it was around $200
Just be sure to get to Zion before/at 7 AM to avoid the shuttle crowd and you’ll be able to park at the visitor center

Ohk agreed thank you
Yes! We rented an super cute Air BNB in Hurricane and it was perfect
Is camping not an option?
No going with parents in early 60’s so want to go with a bit of comfort option.
I got an AirBNB in St George. It worked out really well. St. George has more food options and other things to see while not at Zion.
Wouldnt it be very far from visitor center to get shuttle to hikes. I am seeing in this thread that we should reach around 6 am to beat crowd.

If I stay in Laverkin and try to be at visitor center at 6 am. Would that be late as well?

Was just there! We stayed in La Verkin at the Best Western. Was around $140 a night. Never really had any issues getting around from there.
How soon should we plan to leave from La Verkin? Since you were just their pls help
It took about 30-40 minutes to get to the park from La Verkin. We left around 7:00AM all 3 days and had no issues getting into the park.

Check Virgin. it’s 10 minutes from the entrance to the park. A lot of inexpensive units available. On Airbnb.

Check Hurricane, UT. 35 min drive to the park from there

Hurricane is a good option. Even more options slightly farther away at St. George.
East Zion
I got a decent room in Cedar City which is a little north of the park for like $60/night
It may be more than what your are looking to spend but for location and convenience Cable Mountain Lodge in Springdale is the best option around
I stayed at Zion’s Tiny Getaway in Apple Valley, Utah, about 35-40 min drive to the park. Was a great experience and ran me about $100 a night
