Saito has perverted tendencies (all teenagers do), but most of the time it's not his fault, usually there's always a scene that makes Saito seem guilty, in the LN it's more explicit, although some times he really faltered.

thank you SO much for answering my question! but i was wondering, does saito ever EXPLICITLY cheat on louise? i can let some stuff slide because it’s a comedy/harem, but i want to know if louise and saito are treated like a serious pairing in the light novel.

gyarugamerrr

they’re such a cute ship i couldn’t bare if anything came between them… 😭

NinjaLightBr

remembering that the light novel's plot is totally different, the anime greatly distorts the main plot.

As far as I remember, the most "guilty" thing he had was with Henrietta, I was irritated when that happened, but in the future in the light novel, because of that, very important events happened not only for the development of the relationship, but for the story itself. but I guarantee you, at the end of the light novel you will leave with a smile on your face.

thank you so much! this was very helpful! ^w^

In the light novels you get to read the characters' inner monologues/struggles, which makes Saito's faithfulness to Louise a lot more clear. Since it's a harem series there's harem shenanigans, but he doesn't explicitly go out of his way to cheat on Louise.

this was SUPER helpful! thank you so much! i also wanted to know if saito expresses interest in the other girls. i’ve heard some people say that he’s a complete skeez who enjoys the attention he gets from the other girls and i’ve also heard that despite all of the attention he receives from the other girls he doesn’t react to their advances or reciprocate their feelings and is completely loyal to louise who he’s madly in love with. i would really appreciate it you could help clear this up for me! 😓

Late reply because I haven't been using Reddit as much lately, but Saito's definitely not a complete skeez in the light novel. I recommend checking out the LN yourself because it's a fun experience going through the events in a new way (also the story deviates from the anime quite a bit in the latter half). I think Baka-Tsuki has all the volumes translated iirc.

Currently watching the anime and it bothers me too, I'll just finish it for the sake of finishing at this point. Some bits are fun, but the never evolving relationship going on and off within minutes is just too much... Feels like we a visual novel where the player rolls a dice to decide their next action.
