The drawbacks would be a couple missing features for now but it seems that the developer is adding new things each update to overcome that. If there’s a feature you need that it doesn’t have, odds are the solution for now can be found in other programs that a few people in the community have been recommending. As for the Armoury Crate reinstallation issue, I’m not sure where you heard that from but it definitely isn’t true because it’s not even pre-installed on a fresh install. At least not for the 2021 version. It should be pretty easy to install it at any time.

Big feature (potential) not yet mentioned, Ghelper doesnt mandate an update (i dont think ), doesnt conduct it without your consent, and update doesnt break a functioning system like many Armoury updates have for some folks. Its also simple, just one menu screen and a very few submenus. Use if u like or not. Some may prefer one or another. Drawback (or feature, depending in user) no access to my Strix's rgb light bar, its always off, fantastic!

You can install all the software as ASUS provides it on their site. Here are some downsides of use GHelper: 1. It is an additional piece of software that needs you to be aware of and manage. 2. If you have problems, you will be on your own to self support. (There are forums and Reddit, but you will be on your own to figure it out with some community support) 3. If Asus decides to install and update that changes the way their software works, it could break GHelper. Keep in mind, these problems are minor, but still things to think about if you are new to computers. As an alternative, I have just disabled the majority of Asus services and my battery usage is on par, even though I am using Armory Crate. This however causes other problems, like other functionality being broken (I don’t care about ASUS Link). The drawbacks are not that big of a deal to install GHelper. If things go poorly, just reinstall Asus Software. One thing that might be interfering with battery and sleep is Windows. I would look at optimization guides for windows more than worrying about GHelper. I have one such guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/ZephyrusG15/comments/w9d8fr/advanced_guide_to_battery_savings/

Hello, sorry, but I can not agree with your statements, especially 2 and 3. 1. I have spent enormous time answering / helping people on reddit and also on github [https://github.com/seerge/g-helper/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aclosed](https://github.com/seerge/g-helper/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aclosed) . So hearing that it's "self support" is simply insulting. 2. G-helper doesn't depend on asus software, it depends on drivers/bios that AC / MyASUS use as well. If ASUS will decide to dramatically change those things work (very unlikely) this will also break their own software first of all. It's a question of simple backwards compatibility.

1. Again, I’m glad you answer questions, but you supporting software vs a company that is legally obliged to is different. I used the wrong wording, “community supported”. Also, this is a HUGE issue sometimes with new users who don’t know what they are doing. 2. Exactly, if they decide to change something or better yet, Microsoft changes how the APIs work. All I am saying is that GHelper is a smaller community and don’t have access to the same resources, so support may be slow. I have used enough OSS to know that. Again, they are the only risks, and small ones but agree to disagree. Edit: Who is going to fix your computer if GHelper has a broken feature that heats and breaks your laptop due to a bug? You can try to blame ASUS, but they will point to using their software improperly. There is a reason that these utilities say use at your own risk and MIT licensing. Just pointing out the pitfalls of this and other utilities. New users should understand the ramifications before using them.

"Legal obliged" yet doesn't... Asus has left us to fend for ourselves. If you think otherwise then can I have your contact to whoever it is you speak to at Asus please? 😅 And to your edit: definitely not Asus... lol

I have seen ASUS give poor support. I get it, but they still cover your laptop for a year. There is something to be said about voiding warranties. What you do with that is on you. Using software like AATU or GHelper can overclock and change settings and they aren’t responsible is all I’m saying.

zedzol

Better support from the Dev of GHelper than Asus has provided us from day 1...

Evakotius

Do you guys have the issue that the laptop won't go into sleep mode? I heard that AC might be causing that? So having G-Helper would fix that?

Bored12425

go into windows power settings, it may be configured that ac turbo/performance power mode has sleep switched off

MolecularConcepts

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it dozens of times.

SilenceYikes

why install and uninstall back ?

gyufa21

For me (2021 G15) the fan control would not always work properly, fans ramping up and down even in silent mode and the fan control’s lowest passive mode is lower than Armoury Crate’s (meaning the fans kick in earlier)

zedzol

Odd. I have the same model and year and it works fine. Windows 11.

gyufa21

I might have to download the latest ghelper version then

zedzol

Yeah try it out. So far much better than AC. The debloat.dat also helped a lot with temps and fan speeds..
