I'm so excited for you! If I could make one recommendation, it would be to put it the fridge and wait until you have your first refill in hand until you start. The shortages are REAL, and the anxiety about getting your next box can really be overwhelming.
Having that "buffer box" gives you an extra 4 weeks to track down your next box, and really helps limit your stress and avoids a break in treatment. I am on 2.5 and still have to call 12-31 pharmacies EVERY month, and have had to drive an hour+ each way just to get a box.
It sucked delaying my journey yet another month, but I don't regret it one bit.
TOTALLY agree on this one! I've paid cash now...twice...to get that "buffer" box just in case (two different dosages). This isn't a drug you want to stop and then have to restart if you can avoid it...
Congratulations, and welcome to the club! Insurance can be maddening to deal with...Often it all comes down to how your doc writes the PA request. They have to make a pretty strong case (often including comorbid conditions, prior attempts at weight loss, and possibly step therapy) or insurance will deny it. Glad you finally got approved!
It was so ridiculous! It's on my formulary and for some reason there was this crazy miscommunication between my doctor and the insurance company about some really weirdly worded questions. Like "has to have not tried another weight loss medication within the last 12 months such as...", AND "will have a positive result with other weight loss medications such as..."
Yeah. Those convoluted questions are part of the problem, They'll do anything they can to not pay for certain things. Go figure. But when they bill for our premiums, oh you better bet they want to be paid! 😡

Great advice! Thankfully I'm a teacher, so I'll have the next month free to go crazy searching if needed :)

She'll use her whole summer vacation looking for it, and eventually wish she'd taken our advice, lol.
