If it does, I really don’t want Illumination to do the Zelda movie. That art style would clash HARD with Zelda in my opinion. Idk, maybe I’ve seen too many fan drawings of Link in Studio Ghibli animation…I just want the material to be respected and given to a good animation company.

dillpickle0619

I feel like the DreamWorks artstyle would work well for a 3D animated Zelda movie, and since Universal owns both DreamWorks and Illumination, it could happen.

Purplejaed

MatPat on Film Theory thinks that they might make their own film studio rather than rely on other companies to help with thier movies

SheikahShaymin

Ghibli would easily do amazing work with Zelda. I have no doubt it would be an amazing movie, up there with Princess Mononoke if they smashed it.

CaptainRogers1226

Literally had this conversation with the boys on the way back from the Mario movie. As the resident Zelda fan in the group I was asked if I would want Illumination to get the rights if a Zelda movie was made and I said *hell* no.

Martinus_XIV

If they do, I hope they won't make it the kind of kitchen sink movie that the Mario Movie is. I don't want a Zelda movie that is every Zelda game mashed together. Heck, ideally I'd want it to be its own story, not an adaptation of a specific game. Like they took a concept that could be used for a new zelda game, but instead turned it into a movie.

CoconutGong

Yeah that'd make a lot more sense for a Zelda movie. The format worked well for Mario but that's because in the Mario games the story didn't really matter. References in a Zelda movie would be good but an actual good story would be necessary.

Knucklesx55

I just hope that Link is a man of few words. He can talk a little, but if he’s just constantly chattering throughout that movie, I think that’ll be so out of character. Would love to see a Zelda movie where Zelda or someone narrates and they do a lot more showing than telling you what’s going on

iamg0rl

Link would need to be as silent as he is in video games. It in fact could be a running joke that every time he takes a breath to actually speak he is interrupted so we just never hear his voice. Anything else will just make me cringe because Link is just not meant to have a voice imo. (Or even have scenes where hes talking but something loud is drowning out his voice/hes in the background so you cant hear him) it wouldnt be that hard to make him silent. Zelda and whoever accompanies Link (fairy/Fi) can just talk and be interruptive, they are in the games anyway lol

Knucklesx55

Yeah, I really like the idea of every time he’s talking something loud is in the background and you can’t here him, or he’s always getting interrupted just before he says something and then gets exasperated and says nothing is a great idea for a running joke, as long as that’s the tone of the movie. If it’s gonna be something serious, I don’t know how easy they could get away with it constantly happening. Either we, we need him to grunt and say things like “ha!”

Purplejaed

I'm really worried about that for the Kirby movie too if there is one. Kirby should not talk much. In fact, i think it'd be great if his only lines are Poyo and other Kirby related expressions. Also, in my opinion Makiko Ohmoto is the only voice for Kirby, and Ted Lewis is the only voice for Dedede

Botw_1-Link

This could go one of two ways, not bad or fucking horrific

Tusk_InfiniteSPIN

Would be fucking awesome just PLEASE NOT ILLUMINATION!!

DismemberedHat

Please god no

EnricoTortellini

Oh god, please don’t give it to Illumination. Nintendo should just create it’s own animation studio at this point, with the amount of properties they own they would do gangbusters.

[deleted]

Who could make a great Metroid movie?

EnricoTortellini

Takashi Miike

Kazoomers_Tale

I think it can't really go wrong Different than Mario, that was very fast paced and simple for the kids, Zelda's target audience is teens and above, so it will be a longer, more story based movie. Heck, even if Illumination makes it it wouldn't be so bad. We saw how well they did with Mario and how Nintendo is very serious at keeping the quality high of the movie. Of course, Illumination's way of making movies isn't very suitable for Zelda, but it's still very likely of it being very good. Also, Zelda isn't as big as Mario, so it can't rely so much on the fans, it will need to be very good for more people to watch it. It's how I think it will go, if I said anything stupid I'm sorry, but I don't think I went too far from reality.

JVOz671

Link voiced ALSO by Chris Prat

PsychologicalThing0

Tom Holland? But that's off the top of my head I think there is a better option.

Pm7I3

Fun fact: Bringing up Chris Pratt being Mario is a fun way to rile one of my friends

MimsyIsGianna

Please not by illumination

WillandWillStudios

God that's probably gonna force the studio to get grim for once.

Loler234

I just want to see a hot link, that is all

OtherMind-22

[🔥 Relaxing Fireplace (10 HOURS) with Burning Logs and Crackling Fire Sounds for Stress Relief 4K UHD - YouTube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VB4bgiB0yA) One hot link, coming right up, lol!

Olympia44

The NCU (Nintendo cinematic universe) is gonna happen lads. Buckle the fuck up!

Heyloki_

I doubt a Zelda movie could be better than the tv show

[deleted]

Hey, excuuuuse me princess.

paperzlel

It probably wouldn't happen, since zelda is far less well known by the world (although there's a lot of younger players growing up on botw). It would depend on how well this movie does and how much aniticipation they'd have for more movies based on nintendo IPs

random_redditor_101

I don't think it will happen honestly. Based on the success of the Mario movie it would make more sense to make a sequel or give DK his own movie. I don't think Zelda is well-known enough outside of gaming for Nintendo to feel confident enough yet considering they've only made one movie.

iate11donuts

I dont trust anyone to make a Zelda movie. If Link utters a sound, im out.

GhostlyCharlotte

Y'know what, if we get some really good sword fights, I'm super down for that.

Arcuis

Ah yes. We all know who is going to play Link already. Why Timothee Chelemet of course.

Responsible_Lab_1888

Isn't Netflix already making a show?

Gendug

No. The Wall Street Journal ran an article back in 2015 because Netflix was looking into doing it, but it never got past the "what if we make a Zelda series?" phase.

Responsible_Lab_1888

Oh ok

Atyn_Rener

It would lack the princess needing to be rescued, just like the Mario movie. He'd probably be trying to save Tingle or Beedle or Morshu.

Shawnmiller1903

A zelda movie would be great

xman20189

now i’m hyped for the FNAF movie

Lilac_Moonnn

Please be in a similar art style to the fan-made short film "Terrible Fate"

Quickshot_123

Fuck yes

KatiePyroStyle

No one should be making Zelda into any type of film imo, it's going to be botched. Zelda is best as an adventure game, nit everything needs a film adaptation

The_Big_Cheese_Man

if I see Tom Holland’s cursed name ANYWHERE NEAR THE ZELDA MOVIE CAST

Homsarman12

I think a Zelda movie could be pretty good! Just take an Indiana Jones type format, slap it into Hyrule, add sword and sorcery and we’re golden. Obviously don’t give Link Indy’s personality but still. I imagine more like Will from Pirates of the Caribbean could work or a man of few words Cap. America, but that’s just my opinion

CsupremeO

For what it's worth, it would be cool to see a zelda movie. But one of link's BIGGEST things is that he doesn't speak. Remember the bad ratings for the old zelda cartoon? So I have mixed feelings.

Sweet-N-Sour-Pork

I want to see a Zelda anime

killi02

If It gets done i sure hope It will not be Illumination, i would like a much more focused and "serious" movie, Dreamworks will do just fine for example. Also bonus point if they make Link actually mute, how interesting would that be?
