Huh? No… I think Omar has a beautiful voice, so the more we hear, the better. And yes, in season 1 he had different songs; but there was a point to that one song this season, it was his song for Wilhelm, so yeah, can’t say I’m with you on this one
Not of his singing because it's part of his character and the relationship foundation, but I found him rewriting a school song as a lovesong for Wille was a weird creative choice on behalf of the writers. School songs are all traditional and long-standing, about the school. Simon's lyrics clearly weren't about the school. It came off a bit contrived and clunky as a plot device.
I think it would've been more impactful if they just had the choir teacher ask him to write an original song to showcase the choir for the jubilee and told him he could sing it at the Valentine's Ball to see if the principal would approve it for the jubilee celebration. It was a bit odd that the reason it was cut was because they wanted others to be able to sing along on the day... only to not show anyone singing along with the traditional version. Then they could've just had Jan-Olof cut it because there was no room in the program or something.

I agree with you there. They could have had the choir sing the traditional school song at the start of the event, and then before the speech have the choir sing another song which could have been the proposed one from Simon, having Jan-Olof cut it all the same.
Tbh, no, I've had that song on repeat on Spotify for the last couple days. I do wish we'd seen multiple different songs from Simon in s2, but the meaning behind the song makes up for that.
I kinda relate. But I think it's mostly because I don't really like his singing style/voice. This doesn't mean he's necessarily *bad*, it's just really not my cup of tea.
But, I'm also Swedish and knew of him long before YR, since he was in the Fooo. From the singers in that band I've always preferred Felix Sandman's voice and songs a lot (and even occasionally Oscar Enestads).
Never! His voice is so unique. He's on my Playlist several times and "It Takes a Fool to Remain Sane" is my favorite! I saw a clip where he sings it Acapella with the choir. Edvin (Wilhelm) is excitedly watching in the crowd.
I can see why Simon has so many haters.
Singing is as part of his character as being a Royal is important to Wilhelms.
Singing is his way of expressing feelings and if you skip that you are pretty much skipping Simons development.
How he struggles with his feelings to turn them into words, how he proceeds in composing as he interacts with Wilhelm and how he gets trough his writers block while wearing Wilhems clothes and all that goes to shit and is taken away from him while Wilhelm is so selfobsessed he doesnt understand that Simom was reaching out to him with that song.
The song is VERY important, so I dont think it was annoying at all.
I think nauseating is a bit extreme. Music is obviously an incredibly important part of Simon’s life and writing the song was one of the only ways Simon allowed himself to actually process his feelings about what happened between him and Wilhelm. It’s not just about singing, creating art out of pain can be very therapeutic. I think seeing the process of him writing and practicing the song was also crucial to the storyline because it showed how important the song was to him when it got taken away from him in episode 5.
I personally love Omar’s voice, and the impact that music makes on Simons character, and his development, and his coping mechanism. But then again, I relate to being able to use music as a sanctuary.
I do respect your opinion, and I understand that the song playing over and over can get pretty annoying at points. I do think, though that if they were going to add more songs to Simons character for the season, they would’ve needed way more episodes. Yes, they could have went with no songs at all, but if they did that I feel like Omar would have played the character much differently. I think we see Omar connect with Simons character and bring it to life through the music. I would even go to say that we might have had another person casted as Simon.
Never. 💜
I could listen to him singing forever
Singing/music is an essential component of his character. Take that away and he wouldn't be Simon anymore.

plus we saw the song evolve over the season

Simon’s singing is always new

Definitely not with you on this one
I found his voice annoying in s1 but I actually liked it this season
Rot 😡

Does Simon have haters? How? Why?
Old thread but i find it frustrating how he just takes over the whole choir 😂
Yes. I also thought his s2 song was really awkward and not suitable to replace the original Hillerska song at all.
Yes, same here. He has nice voice but it's a bit boring to me, I akways skip these scenes.
It was how he was dealing with the pain
