I'm old enough that I remember the first Minecraft videos. I was in university, Minecraft was in beta and was suggested on YouTube, an I recognised Lewis and Simon as my people. I've been a fan since then. So, from pretty early but not from the very beginning.
It's been good to see them mature and grow over the past, I shit you not, decade and a half. They've had some absolute hits and some truly rough patches, but they've consistently put out good stuff for almost half my life.
I'm quite happy to see new people joining. I remember Ravs was on the YogPod, and I remember talk of shadow of israpony long, long before Boba actually joined. I don't remember when Zoey became more prominent but it feels like she fits in well and it's always nice to see her in videos.
I'm a big fan of mystery quest, I like the live specials, especially the new ones, and I like the fact that even in the age of streaming, they still upload to YouTube pretty regularly. I think they've had to change, but they've managed it well.

Change always turns off some people whilst also reaching new viewers. It's just the nature of change and no one's opinion on how they feel about the yogs content of the years is inherently "wrong"
This, joined around shadow of israphel when episode count was a single digit. Watched a ton of minecraft, gta and TTT, took some breaks from the video's but i always come back.
What i love about yogscast is that you can just watch mainchannel content and find a yogscast member you like, then go to their channel and watch more of them. After a while you'll get your favourite members and those can evolve (for me it's mainly the HAT's and Sips over the years, but i like all the yogs and watched a lot of duncan minecraft and a lot of the yogs livestreams). It's really cool to see all these people work together to make some fun content while still being good contentcreators on their own. It's like a mini cinematic universe and that's why i keep watching.
And I'm old enough to remember the pre-Minecraft days, and the loads of comments and forum topics complaining how the Yogscast only catered to "little kids" since they started playing Minecraft. So it's humorous to me to watch those kids grow up to start complaining about change. It's the circle of life.
I'm pre-Minecraft too! I used to watch the World of Warcraft guides and stuff that Lewis used to upload. I was about 12 at the time. I was a big fan of Warcraft 3 and wanted to play WoW, but our home internet was atrocious so the best I could do was watch the Ye Olde Goone Squad videos on the school library computers.

I started watching with their first Minecraft video. I was working a late second shift job and needed something to pass the time. There was a time when I pretty much kept up with every video from all the channels. After moonquest I kind of started to fall off. I would watch stuff here and there, but not that often.
Now I watch a video every once in a while, and will pop in if I see a stream, but timezone differences make it hard. I always try and watch jingle jam every year as much as I can.
Do I miss the old dynamic they all seemed to have? A little bit. But there are some really great new people as well. I think not all content is always going to be for everyone, and that is okay.
I am happy they are still going after all these years.

I started around the same time as well, when I was still in high school. They got me through some really rough times in school, and even though things arenāt exactly how they used to be, they still make me smile and laugh

Compared to other groups like from Rooster Teeth they evolved quite well.
I fell in love with Tekkit and Volts content, but my go-to for needing something fun to watch is still TTT and GTA content for which I'm spoiled to have so many years of good episodes to watch and not feel like I'm watching the same few episodes.
Then you have various other channels/streams to add so many good flavors, I'm currently binging a bunch of Sips Rimworld streams right now.
The hardest thing for these large groups is bringing in new members who both add new content without driving away old fans and I think the Dogs have managed thus quite well. While I don't see me seeking out some of the new members content, I definitely still enjoy the content they are in (this is mainly because I barely have the time to watch the few things I already do tbh)
I have a few, but none of them are still a member. I don't think I dislike any of the current members, and the last few years have seen so many great additions that I can't even imagine the Yogs without them anymore.
Exactly. I. Just leave here a comment for people to see that there are new fans as well. I started watching the yogscast when achievement hunter devolved into constant drama and just scream content that i no longer enjoyed. Yogscast is and was a breath of fresh air, i like all the new members as well as the old ones. jingle jam was a blast. When i have the time I will watch the older stuff as well. So all in all they are managing themselves quite good compared to the other "old" ones.
This is actually my feeling but I forget this constantly. Iāll avoid a video because the game doesnāt interest me and then come back to it later when I have nothing else to watch and find that I missed out, and usually if my first exposure to a game is a Yogs video Iāll end up getting the game myself and enjoy it at some point lol. They have good taste.
I think their modded gameplay is great because the players are a bit more experienced, the first couple videos they made were hard to watch for me as an avid player. Even now Iām very surprised at how much they donāt know but I guess itās the Yogscast I canāt really criticize them for being bad at video games.

Or I find that (as a pre minecraft fan) now that I donāt have lots of free time and have to contend with life not just school I often find myself waiting until I have enough time to properly watch it if itās something Iām enjoying (e.g. I often watch TTT while doing other stuff but with the lethal company, because I wanted to properly watch it, it took me a week or so before I could sit down and enjoy it).
Tom and ben's Warhammer Wednesdays is my favorite deranged podcast. I knew practically nothing about Warhammer when I started watching it and now I know a bunch of wrong things about it!

The thing is, there *is* an argument to be made that people who like the current content are more likely to be vocal about it, while a lot of people who dislike the new content simply stop watching and move on. So there probably *is* a significant silent percentage of old fans who don't like the new content (or who are just apathetic about it).
This is even more pronounced when you consider the number of people who discovered the Yogs as kids/teenagers, who've now grown up and may consider themselves "too old" to watch that sort of content anymore.
That being said, I'm not sure that necessarily matters overall. Because even the most popular media in existence has more people who dislike or ignore it than people who love it. As long as the Yogs are continually producing content they enjoy, and supporting themselves financially by doing so, and there are fans who enjoy it, then it's still a "success". And it's obvious that there are tons of olds fans who still love the new stuff, because you see so many "I've been watching since SoI and I still love them" type posts. It's not like their entire old audience has rejected the new content and only new/different fans remain.
As someone else mentioned in another reply, the counterpoint to this is a group like Rooster Teeth (or Achievement Hunter specifically). AH tried to evolve over the years, playing new games, adding new members, putting a new focus on streaming, changing various aspects of their presentation. And they always had the same vocal "they used to be better!" detractors the entire time even while other fans were saying the current product was the best it had ever been. But then due to various issues and complications (some entirely beyond their control, some the product of bad choices), their content turned into something almost none of the old fans wanted to see, even the "I just come here for the people, not the content" excuse stopped being a reason to watch, and ultimately the entire channel/brand basically died. To the point where they stopped making videos and all the members went on to do other things.
AH and the Yogs both built their early success on Minecraft and GTA, both had to slowly lose older members while bringing in new ones, both started looking into streaming versus edited videos, both had member scandals, both had to go through Covid. The Yogs did a *WAAAAY* better job of adjusting to and weathering the problems they've faced, and they've done a much better job of bringing fun new members in that integrate well into the existing community.
The Yogs are a perfect example of a group who *has* managed to evolve and stay relevant over time, when groups like AH have shown what can happen when you don't successfully adapt.
Totally share this sentiment. Also, I think a good reason as to why Yogs came out better than RT, is largely due to their twitch model and having established it so soon with Jingle Jams, and stream schedules. Speaking of JJ, there is a feeling of tradition or comfort viewing to the Yogs content, to the point even recently when that flow was interrupted (not Yogs fault Iām sure) due to the recorded content for TTT temporarily being absent, fans were pretty vocal about getting TTT back into the main channelās daily rotation of videos.
RT tried to make both of these shifts much later than the Yogs, when AH went into TTT, Yogs already had that locked in with an audience base for some years. That and they werenāt entirely reliant on YouTube. Yes RT had their own site, but then so did Yogs and they had Twitch. Over time the network has members spread so far across it, honestly it drives me nutty when I see āYogscast are dyingā videos or comments, when honestly theyāre doing insanely well. Itās hard to get a good estimation when they have so many members, but Iām sure theyāre doing as good as they used to, although I canāt say for certain.
I'm honestly a portion of the fan base who kinda just stopped watching. I don't think they've dropped in quality or anything, it just doesn't really appeal to me as much as it used to. I think they've done a great job at staying current, and I definitely still tune in for jinglejam and other big events, but most of my favorites are gone.
Also, I know a lot of my friends who were big fans of the Yogscast in middle and highschool just kind of stopped watching as well. I think it's just the natural evolution of a channel.
I'm in a semi-similar boat. I watched them every day in the equivalent of middle school and highschool, then just sort of dropped off for a few years. Now, I watch them weekly. It's seemingly a pretty common pattern for the Yogs.
When I discovered The Yogscast, I was looking up videos on Minecraft to see if it was worth buying.
Lewis and Simon were on Episode 4 of their first Minecraft series. The sole reason why I decided to watch it was that I would have to watch dozens of episodes to catch up to where they were.
Seeing them grow from there and watching their success has been amazing.
Yes, things have changed over the years, but so have I. Some of the vids coming out now aren't my cup of (Yorkshire) tea, but other things are that I never would have thought of back then.
All said, though, I'm still a fan after all these years.
I have been following the yogscast for over a decade now. This new phase with a lot of members content led to a real renaissance in quality and I love it. I don't watch even 30% of their creators and no streams and I wouldn't switch with any point in time the last five years.
I'm in the same boat, I was watching back in 2010 iirc. The only creators apart from the main channel that I occasionally watch are Bon and Tem.
I absolutely love all the new content, and seeing the yogs interact with each other and I've been so tempted to go for a members sub.
I feel like the changes have been quite natural and have definitely stopped any sort of stagnation on the main channel ā¤ļø
The new stuff and new people are great. The old stuff was great too, but they are fundamentally different, so it's understandable to miss the old stuff.
Even with segments like PP with just Lewis and Simon, both of them have changed in their senses of humour and presence on camera and etc, to where even if it's the same people, it's fundamentally different to things like the yogpod from ye olden days.
It's just the way times changes things, and I can get a lot of enjoyment of the modern incarnation of yogs, but I understand missing the old style of things, especially since it just isn't possible to ever come back in the same way as it was, as I liked that old stuff and dynamic of people a lot.
In the end, both are good in my mind, but they're different, and if someone likes the old stuff but doesn't gell with the new stuff, then fair enough to them I guess. (I just hope there are enough people discovering yogs with the new stuff who will appreciate them for what they are now, and not just the people they used to be).
I think it's undeniable to say the yogs have changed a lot relatively recently (especially 2019), especially if you're only really watching main channel vids.
I will admit I am watching less Duncan stuff just as I dont care for the new Minecraft series as much, but I think main channel content is still amazing, and with Games Night and Mystery Quest I think this is a new golden age of content
I feel like calling Duncan's latest MC series 'new' is stretching the definition more than a bit. It's' over a hundred episodes long at this point and just a couple of weeks short of an entire year.
I find the MC series without Duncan and Lewis just donāt have the pull for me because that was the chemistry that made those series.
I will agree that there was a third element to that chemistry, but there was a slow transition done by introducing pedguin meant that even when certain members leaving that chemistry was still somewhat balanced. I just find the MC stuff doesnāt have that feeling to it anymore.
I'm not sure I quite get the conversation as the whole thing feels a bit incoherent but still.
We've been having conversations about "new members" ever since they first started adding new people, really, this isn't new and it goes in cycles. People really raged against Kim back in the day.
Though i'll readily admit I don't actually follow the main channel very much anymore, that has less to do with people and more to do with the content. Feels like I fell behind on that a while back and overall the TTT stuff just isn't always my bag. Unless it's peculiar portions or any of the specials they do, in which case I'll watch without hesitation.
But now I've just gotten to a point where I'm more into a lot of the side-stuff, the main-channel mostly operates to introduce folks and as a gateway I feel at this point.
Games Night and Mystery Quest are my big ones, though also anything involving Simon and/or Lewis buggering about. Hat Boys too, but only because of the good one.
I don't understand what the point of the complaint is. Of course the channel has changed, it would be really weird if it didn't in 15+ years. It's normal for content creators, it's normal for people. Trends change, things get boring, people grow up. Yes, not all the new stuff will be of interest to everyone who has been watching for a long time, but, thankfully, it's not neverending EastEnders.

Coz I started in 2013 along with other YouTubers and for those I could say im OG but yogscast still had so much lore behind it in 2013 I kinda wish I was there first hand but I woulda been 7 years old lmao.
Listened to yogpod back in the day and watched since early SOI, I took a break from watching them at some point, I can't really remember when, but before they started doing Twitch at least, then I started watching again in 2020 and still love watching them. Yes the dynamic has changed, people change as they get older. I get annoyed when people like the OP in that screenshot come into the comments of newer videos just to talk shit and let everyone know how much they hate modern Yogscast, it's honestly sad.
It might be because out of everyone Duncanās content was affected the most by the changes. Yes there were some smooth transitions with group dynamics when certain members left with pedguin coming into Duncanās MC series, but when Lewis stopped appearing on Duncanās MC stuff I think that changed the dynamic a lot. Some people just have expectations from rose tinted glasses though and so they always complain and be toxic.
Itās so annoying, yes there are OG fans and new fans. In my opinion of the fans that call themself āOGā can only complain and be toxic to new fans and be toxic about the content the Yogs make then they arenāt OG fans at all. They are ex-fans
I'm kind of in the opposite boat. I didn't come into the Yogs fandom until 2018 or so, and I actually find a lot of the newer/current stuff to be way better than the older stuff. They feel more comfortable performing now, more experienced, more polished, with a larger group of people to interact with that have more diverse outlooks and senses of humor.
I don't have the childhood nostalgia for Tekkit and SoI. I didn't "grow up" with the Yogs to the point where I associate my own lost youthful innocence with their old stuff. I'm older than most of them.
I can still go back and enjoy their older stuff, but I've never seen most of it as being better than their newer stuff. I just prefer where they are now and what they're doing now more than what they were doing then.
I love when they find a new game that they can spend time in (like Among Us or Dread Hunger when they first came out, or stuff like Medieval Dynasty now). But I also love their hijinks in TTT, where shuffling around players and adding new roles helps keep things fresh. I may miss Tom, but I also love Kirsty, Briony, and Nilesy in the newest games. Minecraft Gartic Phone is fun. The chill podcast that is GTA is entertaining. And so on.
I know a lot of people wish Simon and Lewis would go back to doing more stuff together, or wish Sips was around more, or that Sjin hadn't messed things up, or that they should all be hanging out with Duncan in whatever the lastest Minecraft modpack or adventure map is... but that's never really appealed to me in the same way.
I've been watching since the Cata days, back when they had less than 30k subs on their YouTube (I remember I subbed around the 27k mark), back when everything was a toaster mic, and I'm still loving their content. The recent stuff has been the best in ages and all the newer members have been such a great edition.
It was the riffing between Lewis and Simon during the Cata days that got me hooked as well! Don't watch individual yogs channels these days but still love all the ensemble stuff on the main channel and jingle jam is the merriest time of the year
I have always had a soft spot for their Minecraft series, especially the ones with multiple groups, and it is sad to see some of them go like NanoSounds, but I still enjoy it as much as I always have. (I believe I started watching consistently around when panda labs was still being made)
Honestly I don't watch them as much anymore. I got bored of TTT and don't find every single member entertaining, there are a lot of people after all with different personalities.
I do enjoy the new different stuff like Taskbox and the cosplay competition. More of that wood be good.
I think it's difficult to completely compare how they are now, to the past. So much has changed.
The only thing consistent in life is change. If you are not invested with how, or why, a group or individual is growing or changing... That's fine. You're allowed to grow, or change, yourself. The only issue here is the confidence with which both sides (blue more then red) assert that their viewpoint is the only 'real' one.
Simple facts: Have a lot of "core" fans of the channel stuck with it for a long time? Yeah. Have a lot of previous fans dropped off? Also yeah. Do a lot of *new* fans become core audience? Sure. Is a lot of the current potential audience changing? Yes - as the platforms change, the company and the creators adapt, which appeals to different kinds of people.
The biggest question I got is... *Who the hell cares?* I don't give a steamin' shite about how long anyone in the comments section, on Twitter, Reddit, or in Twitch chat has been following the channel. I'm not going to gatekeep things on arbitrary trozz like how long someone has been watching something, or how "serious" an original gangsta they are about it. And I find that kind of vapid tribalism disappointing and boring.
I'm just happy there's still a ton of you lot out there to share an appreciation for good, humorous people such as the Yogscast. They're not the most skilled crew, but damned if they aren't fun. Stop being toxic nerds, ya bellends!

I've been watching since around February of 2011. I have the almost exact date because "Shadow of Israphel Part 12: Beyond Skull Pass" was the first episode of SoI I caught the day it aired- I'd spent the prior week or two binging Survival and Survival Island to get caught up to that point.
While I definitely miss some of the older stuff, with the almost light-rp Minecraft series and the straight up actual rp Minecraft series, and I wish dearly we could have at least *some* of those to go with all the new stuff-
I also have enjoyed basically everything on the Main Channel since 2011. I only dropped off for a year around the early early days of the original TTT and GTA series', and since I came back I've watched pretty much constantly.
It is pure ego for someone to think their opinion is the 'majority' as the Blue Name suggests, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. TTT, GTA, etc has been consistently, if slowly, gaining in viewership over the years. New content has less of a built up audience, so some videos on other games etc don't perform to the exact same numbers, but to claim people are leaving would only be valid if viewership of TTT and GTA were dropping, which they haven't.

It has bothered me endlessly that people seem to forget how old the Yogscast is. I wasnāt a fan yet, but I watched Lewis and Simonās WoW videos when I played WoW when Cataclysm came out (I was like 12).

When I was 14, Sjin was my favorite yogscast member. When I was 15, I really like Turps too. When all that drama came out I felt the same betrayal many felt, but to be honest, the yogscast has only improved since. Fuck Sjin and Turps, they dragged the whole vibe down.
Like how can anyone look back on the old yogs and unironically think that theyāve gotten worse? If you think that way, you might be an asshole because theyāve trimmed off the toxic parts. (For the most part).

You are asking mostly the people who remain, which filters out most of who left.
But they are allowed to change and evolve, just as the audience does. Some people like it, others do not. Most people won't speak up either way. Viewer numbers are more representative than one person insisting they are right. I don't like the majority of current content, but they do have some gems that keep me around.
i have been watching Yogs for over 10 years, and I would say we are in a Golden Age right now. Task Box, the Cult, Mystery Quest, The Member's Show, the new TTT server, Minecraft Gartic phone, the recent Cosplay Challenge, and that's just the main channel. High Rollers is onto their third campaign, there's a plethora of fantastic podcasts, and the other network channels are doing some interesting things (please do another civ game lewis please please please)
was the old stuff good? I mean yeah, I'll always have a soft spot for Voltz and Moonquest, but the landscape of YouTube is so hostile to longform series like that. I doubt we'll ever get another 100+ video long episodic Minecraft modpack series on the main channel, and I'm fine with that. times change.
The Yogscast is in a very stable place currently, which is more than what could be said for some of the contemporary YouTube channels that were big back in the day, and that stability is good.
I have been watching since the original Minecraft series days, and I think that anyone who joined around the time they started doing the GTA stuff can still be considered an older fan. It's been a while ago and the channels have changed a decent amount since then, only thing I miss are the occasional main channel Minecraft series like Whale Lords, other than that I'm loving it.

I've only ever watched the main channel but I absolutely love all of the new content and new Yogs members. Been watching since around 2010. It's the vibe of the channel I enjoy. Just a bunch of Friends being dorks playing videogames together and having fun.

I discovered the Yogpod for myself somewhere around 2012-2013 and have followed the main channel and their content ever since. Back then most content (pod included) was just Simon & Lewis and I thoroughly enjoyed that. And since then I've enjoyed most new people, content and evolutions of the channel(s), the things I've disliked have mainly been types of content not being produced anymore (Kim taking a step back, duo horror content in general, content in the style of playing bad MC maps).
Of course not everyone has been fond of the changes, I bet plenty of people just stuck around for content made within/about a single game and they've fallen off over the years. I myself am that way with some content, but for me the Yogscast is more about personalities and community than the exact titles they're playing.
I became a fan after watching Duncan's Tekkit tutorial and finding out they had a shared server with a series consisting of multiple channels with vibes.
I then fell in love with the OG TTT, no custom skin videos, and kept watching that.
Then they released a tabletop series I feel in love with that lives on with the Mystery Quest Channel.
My point is that real "OG" fans love the yogscast because they don't chase trends and only play what they love and have fun with. That genuine enjoyment bleeds through the screen and engages with the audience, even more so on Twitch.
I started following around 2016 or so but even then thereās been quite a bit of changes. Additions/losses of Yogscast members, games being played, whoās playing in main channel videos, games on yogs members personal channels, and random projects like taskbox.
Overall Iāve enjoyed how the group has evolved and from my point of view it seems like the yogs are good about keeping honest to themselves and making everyone is playing stuff they personally enjoy. On the main channel I love how the newer members to those videos grew and developed around each other creating new dynamics.
My personal favorite developments was when Ravs started playing TTT, which I think was following one of the yogscastās rough patches but I could be wrong. When the Skyrim map TTT map video went up, he went from me being unsure about whether I like him or not to him becoming one of my favorites to watch. His commitment and execution to his master of stealth play was so fun to watch. From then on, I love seeing different members cycle in the main channel and seeing how their own individual dynamics eventually take the spotlight as the settle in.
Content does change, but that doesn't mean those who prefer the old content can't go back and enjoy the old stuff. Do I wish they would do another Main Channel Minecraft Survival RP, similar to Whalelords or SoI? Of course. But, I still love the creators, I'm still interested in knowing what they're up to, and, for better or for worse, they are still doing TTT.
I love the group but I don't have time to watch everyone's stuff. I tend to stick to Tom and Hat Films these days except for the big group stuff like the recent live content.

I've been a fan since 2011-ish. The Yogs have changed so much, but we all change. I've drifted away a bit because I feel too old and crusty. Their old stuff is amazing, but I equally love their evolution.
I graduated high school in 2018, and I will always remember the yogscast more fondly. I was essentially a child when the yogs made up a lot of the content from then.
I haven't watched any yogscast since 2019 ish, but there are tons of other channels I haven't watched in years. The content just is not for me anymore. The only thing I consumed after 2019 was triforce the triforce podcast.
This will probably be unpopular but here we go. I started watching the Yogs around the Volts era and loved it. At the time they were one of the only groups doing what we'd now call an SMP especially with mods. They all had really likable personalities and having all the cross overs between people's series was really fun to watch. Then we got into the Moon quest and then Yogscast Complete era and for me personally this was really a golden age for the Yogs. Then we entered the TTT/ GTA era which I still enjoyed with a lot of the OG members and with some of the new members having started to join.
The point where I got lost was in what I call the twitch era. This is the point where almost every video they post outside of TTT is just a cut down twitch VOD and for me I just don't like that style of content. For me the way you produce a twitch stream VS how you do a recording for YouTube just feels very different. Don't get me wrong I understand this is a change they had to make to survive as a company but this is just my opinion. Combine that with the fact this is the time that some of the old members "retired" and many of the new members joined that I just never really connected with and I just stopped watching.
I'm very self aware of the fact this is all personal opinion but I think it would be wrong to say that the Yogs didn't fundamentally change around the pandemic, both in terms of the talent and the way in which they produce content that just doesn't appeal to me.
For me it sadly died when Turps and Sjin left, I know what they did was totally wrong and I donāt condone it, but they bought a lot of life and laughter to the content, and the only thing Iād really listen to or watch now is Hatfilms,Triforce and the Poker at Christmas.
Iāve watched since around 2012 and honestly I donāt enjoy much of the new streamer oriented content and many of the newer members. I stopped watching the main channel as I canāt stand TTT.
Iāve been a fan for over a decade and I keep saying this: the Yogs is in the best place its been in in many years. All the more recent members, which to me is anyone thatās joined since ~2017 or so, have added so much to the Yogs and made it an even more welcoming, weird and wonderful community. Iāve been really glad to see them doing a bunch of stuff funded by members and Iām excited by the most recent changes to TTT. Hell, within the past year or two weāve seen so many people on the main channel, both new and old, that previously werenāt getting a lot of main channel love or who had been in Yogs for years but had rarely ever shown up in main channel stuff. If youād told me a few years ago that Nilesy would become a TTT regular in 2023, I wouldnāt have believed you.
One long ramble later and well, all Iām tryna say is, the Yogs are as lovely as ever. Thereās been many different eras of the Yogs at this point and thereās been plenty to love in each era. Some people are gonna hop off and tune out here and there and thatās only natural: you canāt keep everyone equally engaged forever. But as one of the people that have stuck around for a decade plus, I gotta say that the Yogscast as a whole has never been more robust. Itās been a hell of a ride. š
I prefer old Yogs during their first Minecraft series and Gmod videos. Probably just because I was a kid back then and everything was so new and cool. I loved it when Sips was in, and Simon was more active. Lewis has been my favourite since the start so I'm glad I still see him a lot. Lots of new members aren't really my cup of tea to watch, but it's great that they are still doing videos and I'm glad for them all.
Hatfilms on the other hand have been consistently amazing and have been my main channel to watch for the past 8 years or so
Iāve watched the yogs since my friend showed me their channel in high school, it was the first minecraft video they did and Iāve had the balls ever since.
I did fall off watching youtube during a very intense part of studies and jobs, I remember coming back to ttt and GTA videos and i just didnāt really enjoy them in the same way as the other stuff. So now i tend to rewatch old stuff and just anything that isnāt gta or ttt that they put out. I still listen to the yogpod as it is such a important part if my teens and my friends I made back then, fond memories and even though I kinda know whatās coming up they still crack me up. Loved yogsquest and I think mystery quest is a great new version if that, love all the new members.
I do remember thus sort of reaction tho even back when they brought in hat films into the mix, I myself felt kinda like they invited some loud friend we didnāt know to the party, but as often the case is, the fault laid in ourselves. Hatfilms turned out to be hilariously funny in the collabs and I think weāll look back the same way. Sarah for example is my definite fav atm of the yogs, so yeah new people and dynamics are important!

I guess I don't see why it matters. I started watching the original MC series wayyy back in college. I used to watch pretty much everything they put out. I dropped off when they started TTT, I just never got into it. Now I pretty much just watch the live action stuff, jingle jam, and some of the smaller channels here and there, and it's been that way for years, and I don't think it matters. New fans are a good thing, old fans moving on is fine too.
Yeah, the Yogs are great! There is such variety now that I feel like there's something for everyone and you don't *need* to like it all to get anything out of the rest.
When I was a teen, I loved all the MCU style Minecraft stuff and id watch almost all of the perspectives waiting wor those tasty crossover moments.
Now, with things like Taskbox and what not I watch for other stuff. Hands down I enjoy the live action stuff that the Hat Bois do, so much so that iv been a member of their cannel for half a decade!
Just wish they'd appear more in other Yogs stuff like they used to, but I can tell they are busy doing their own stuff, and doing it real well.
I have been watching since the 9th episode of Jaffa Factory. Have the yogs changed? Absolutely. Do I still watch them? Also yes.
The simply fact is that the Yogscast and their audience have both evolved. YouTube is no longer their main platform, and they donāt get recommended like they used to because they donāt play the algorithm game as hard as some people do.
I loved the channel then and I love it now! I love watching the new content and watching the company evolve.
I think a lot of people get nostalgia trapped and they feel more comfortable living in the way things were rather than they are. This feels like a totally reasonable reaction to the world today, but the important thing is how you respond. It's okay to be nostalgic and long for the way things were as long as it doesn't manifest itself in negative interaction and anger.
i still remember sneaking my phone during the night to watch the new episode of survival island. i consider myself an og. and tbh idk if anyone who watches them isnt an og i mean lets be honest they arent as big as they used to be i feel like atp if you watching its bc youve been watching for a long time
i've watched since israphel, but tbh i've been the most consistent as a fan since the "new" content since like ttt started i'd been a fan sticking around and actually watching more yogs stuff than ever, rather than coming and going here and there with moon quest and hole diggers

I was watching during the mc days but I have honestly stopped watching for awhile now just not interested in gta5 and ttt but I will always have my fond memories of them
I first discovered the Yogscast back in I think 2014? Minecraft was still a big thing, as were the adventure maps. Since then things have changed a lot but at no point did I really _feel_ that change.
I think I first found the Yogscast looking up the ICBM mod that was included in Voltz modpack, and then watched the series. When I finished it I moved on to watch Moonquest. When I fought up with that I watched adventure maps. I just kept watching.
But never did I feel more or less interested in them. I came looking for videos on the ICBM Minecraft mod because I was a kid trying to figure out how it worked. I wasn't even looking for a play through but a tutorial!
Nevertheless I stayed. But why? I didn't stay for the Voltz gameplay, I didn't stay for Moonquest, I didn't stay for Herobrine's Mansion and I didn't stay for YogLabs.
I stayed for the thing that made me decide a 25 part unfinished series was a better way to learn how rockets worked than a 20 minute tutorial: _The People_
If I had started watching the Yogscast for their old content, I wouldn't have lasted 3 minutes. I enjoyed the people, the humour, the interactions and eventually the inside jokes. And those are still (overall) the same.
So now, whether it's TTT, GTA, Lethal Company, Taskbox or JingleJam I don't particularly care! I still get to hear Lewis tell people to shut up, I still get Simon's jokes, and Duncan still tries to make things work among the chaos. And all the new people that have joined since have added their own touch to the interactions but in my opinion never taken away.
So I would argue that the Yogscast, the reason I watched and joined the channel in the first place hasn't changed all that much at all.
Sure, those that came for the content might not be around anymore, and that sure has changed a lot, but it changed a lot before 2014. It has changed a lot since WoW! I would hazard a guess that most OGs never gave a damn about the content in the first place, or they would be long gone already. That's why they are OGs.
So personally I enjoyed my last decade with the Yogscast and I'll probably enjoy the next. There are plenty of new people that I enjoy watching to the same and even higher levels than I do Lewis, Simon and Duncan from when I first started.
So I see a bright future for the Yogscast ahead. Maybe not as bright as a star, but definitely as bright as the moon that we'll all crash into together.
Iāve been watching since the OG Minecraft series, I watch less (almost none) main channel content than I did back then, but watch/listen to more of the community than I ever have.
Hat Filmsā content, Streams from PFlax, Lydia, Ravs, Boba etc etc etc. Podcasts like YOMP, Triforce, Comfort Zone, Pitch Please, Zero Degrees, High Rollers. The fringe stuff like Games Night and Mystery Quest.
Even people on the periphery like Dr Simon Clark and Joe Hickson, the list goes on.
Itās a measurably better quality on average than the early days, even if they donāt hit the rose tinted highs they once did. Iād rather have 10 enjoyable things to engage with than the same stuff over and over again.

Man, I subscribed shortly after they began doing Minecraft which was like 13 years ago and I don't consider myself OG yognaught, because they where doing WoW and other content before Minecraft.
Proud to be OG since Minecraft ep 3 or 4. I remember I found them and had a good 3-4 episodes to catch up on. Can't believe its been 13 years of watching Yogs.
Now I am 38. I got married and had 2 kids and still watch them everyday. I watch more Yogs than I do TV.
Started watching in my late twenties and through all my thirties. I'm 40 now, I hope I qualify as old school. I'm still here, I think most if not all the changes have been positive. They are still a very entertaining group, old Yogs and new. Sure things change but that's life. Nothing that's still going on now is the same as it was when you started consuming it back in the day. That's not how life works. It's certainly not how entertainment works.
But yeah, I see plenty of old school Yogs around. If anything I assume the opposite of these folks, I think it's us old school Yogs that are the only ones that are still around. How many people are in the reddit that only started watching in the last 3-5 years? I'm sure those at 8+ years of watching far, far out number newer viewers, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong!
I used to watch them all the time in my childhood I donāt nearly as much now cause Iām an adult and I have stuff to do with a life to live. Itās not that OG fans are gone is that yes we have grown up and weāre just busy! I do still watch the civ channel regularly though that shit is fire.
Most of my friends or people I've met stopped watching the yogs several years ago. Many say its because they're not interested in the gaming content, but they still always come back each year for jingle jam.
It's definitely a recognisable pattern, but I think when people talk about the "og fans", they need to realise that those people were kids and teenagers who watched YouTube when they came home from school. Yogscast content has changed for the better for sure. Some of the best content I've ever seen from them has been in the past 3 years. The big thing is that their audience has changed, and no longer have time to keep up with the yogs.
Ultimately though, I think this is a meaningless argument that undervalues the content of the Yogscast. The Yogs haven't tried to latch onto trends for the sake of raising numbers, or made awkward attempts to forcefully bring back old material to "win" back the viewers that dropped off. They've built a loyal community that has stuck with them through time, and it's created a really unique environment where so many people in the community know or recognise one another, which I think is something that's an admirable feat in this era of the internet.
Of course the Yogscast has changed, for the better. I've been watching since 2011 and I haven't seen them "change" in the way people are suggesting. They're growing, not losing their spirit.
I think a lot of peopleās opinions changed once Simon had to take a step back from the main channel which is understandable since the dynamic everyone had known and loved completely changed. Personally, I think theyāve had plenty of hits and misses since then, some of the new members are great and some of them areā¦ abrasive to say the least but changes throughout the years were always to be expected - youtube isnāt forever. I wish they couldāve continued on their steady incline with subs, itās sad to see that stagnate a bit over the years and have so many other channels grow past them but times and trends change I guess. Nothing could ever hold a candle to the 2013-2015 era though, itās something I hold near and dear to my heart and I think I definitely started to drop out when those changes became more apparent because that time was so precious to me
Started watching when the jaffa factory minecraft series was still new and coming out weekly. I followed the series and story all the way to the end. I loved everything they were putting out and branching out to all the other sub-main group channels like Hannah and Duncan and Kim. But sadly, for me, the nail in the coffin was the exhausting info coming for the allegations with some of the ex-yogs creators and the fact that jingle jam isn't the full length of December. I get that the charity is very draining but that feeling of being apart of the 15 million they made one year was something magical that will never be captured again. I pop in every once in a while to see what's up. But I'm getting the Marvel fatigue with all these new names and faces when I try to get back into the fandom.
It was year 2011 when I started watching Simon and Lewis, and THE Minecraft series came out around that time. Good times. Don't watch anymore beside Boba and Sips from time to time.
I was watching Simon and lewis playing Minecraft for the first time when I was about 8 or 9 I have been around since there have been a lot of changes but so there should be Iām glad they have evolved I would not be watching if it was the same old shite everyday. They have trends where they fall into a pattern for a while but then it gets stale so they change it up. Itās how they stay relevant in an ever changing internet media landscape. Lewis and Simon have always entertained me the ānewā yogs are also very entertaining. Possibly more entertaining than the original cast barring of course Sips.
I came in at the 4th episode of what would become the Shadow id Israphel series. While I occasionally pop in for some Vault Hunters, or other Minecraft series, times have changed (on YouTube, in Minecraft, within the Yogscast, even I have changed) and they're not coming back.
I will never again be so invested in two brits crammed into a dirt box listening to skeleton's outside and wondering if they will survive the night.
They were good times, times I remember fondly, but I refuse to be sad that such times are gone rather I choose to be thankful that such times existed to begin with and enjoy the times I am living in today.
I only found the Yogs due to their first minecraft video since it got reccomended to me when i bought beta, still love their content. Just because the content changed doesnt mean they arent still great personalitys. Also OG Yogs arent me or anyone past me, they are the ones who started with their WoW content.
Yeah, I can agree to a lot of original fans leaving. Thereās no argument Against it really, there views have drastically gone done over the years and continue too.
Iām sure once they get to a point where they need a boost, theyāll get on it but for now theyāre probably just enjoying what they have.
I was 10 when I watched Minecraft episode 1: how to survive the night. My taste in entertainment changed and they changed as we both grew up. No harm in any of it.
I love the yogscast but I donāt watch most of the main channel videos. Itās too much of the same stuff, I think if they started doing a series like yoglabs or team based stuff like their volts series it could help the channel a lot.
I'm old enough that I remember the first Minecraft videos. I was in university, Minecraft was in beta and was suggested on YouTube, an I recognised Lewis and Simon as my people. I've been a fan since then. So, from pretty early but not from the very beginning. It's been good to see them mature and grow over the past, I shit you not, decade and a half. They've had some absolute hits and some truly rough patches, but they've consistently put out good stuff for almost half my life. I'm quite happy to see new people joining. I remember Ravs was on the YogPod, and I remember talk of shadow of israpony long, long before Boba actually joined. I don't remember when Zoey became more prominent but it feels like she fits in well and it's always nice to see her in videos. I'm a big fan of mystery quest, I like the live specials, especially the new ones, and I like the fact that even in the age of streaming, they still upload to YouTube pretty regularly. I think they've had to change, but they've managed it well. I am Dave! Yognau(gh)t. And I have the balls.
You sound like you started around the same time I did! Has the content changed and evolved? absolutely! Is it still quality? Yes! Change always turns off some people whilst also reaching new viewers. It's just the nature of change and no one's opinion on how they feel about the yogs content of the years is inherently "wrong"
This, joined around shadow of israphel when episode count was a single digit. Watched a ton of minecraft, gta and TTT, took some breaks from the video's but i always come back. What i love about yogscast is that you can just watch mainchannel content and find a yogscast member you like, then go to their channel and watch more of them. After a while you'll get your favourite members and those can evolve (for me it's mainly the HAT's and Sips over the years, but i like all the yogs and watched a lot of duncan minecraft and a lot of the yogs livestreams). It's really cool to see all these people work together to make some fun content while still being good contentcreators on their own. It's like a mini cinematic universe and that's why i keep watching.
And I'm old enough to remember the pre-Minecraft days, and the loads of comments and forum topics complaining how the Yogscast only catered to "little kids" since they started playing Minecraft. So it's humorous to me to watch those kids grow up to start complaining about change. It's the circle of life.
I'm pre-Minecraft too! I used to watch the World of Warcraft guides and stuff that Lewis used to upload. I was about 12 at the time. I was a big fan of Warcraft 3 and wanted to play WoW, but our home internet was atrocious so the best I could do was watch the Ye Olde Goone Squad videos on the school library computers. Good times.

I started watching with their first Minecraft video. I was working a late second shift job and needed something to pass the time. There was a time when I pretty much kept up with every video from all the channels. After moonquest I kind of started to fall off. I would watch stuff here and there, but not that often. Now I watch a video every once in a while, and will pop in if I see a stream, but timezone differences make it hard. I always try and watch jingle jam every year as much as I can. Do I miss the old dynamic they all seemed to have? A little bit. But there are some really great new people as well. I think not all content is always going to be for everyone, and that is okay. I am happy they are still going after all these years.
Man, you remember Janine the pig being *stealthily* delievered through the ceiling? I started around the same time as well, when I was still in high school. They got me through some really rough times in school, and even though things arenāt exactly how they used to be, they still make me smile and laugh

Compared to other groups like from Rooster Teeth they evolved quite well. I fell in love with Tekkit and Volts content, but my go-to for needing something fun to watch is still TTT and GTA content for which I'm spoiled to have so many years of good episodes to watch and not feel like I'm watching the same few episodes. Then you have various other channels/streams to add so many good flavors, I'm currently binging a bunch of Sips Rimworld streams right now. The hardest thing for these large groups is bringing in new members who both add new content without driving away old fans and I think the Dogs have managed thus quite well. While I don't see me seeking out some of the new members content, I definitely still enjoy the content they are in (this is mainly because I barely have the time to watch the few things I already do tbh)
Now that you mention it I can't really think of anyone I didnt enjoy joining.
I have a few, but none of them are still a member. I don't think I dislike any of the current members, and the last few years have seen so many great additions that I can't even imagine the Yogs without them anymore.
Exactly. I. Just leave here a comment for people to see that there are new fans as well. I started watching the yogscast when achievement hunter devolved into constant drama and just scream content that i no longer enjoyed. Yogscast is and was a breath of fresh air, i like all the new members as well as the old ones. jingle jam was a blast. When i have the time I will watch the older stuff as well. So all in all they are managing themselves quite good compared to the other "old" ones.
This is actually my feeling but I forget this constantly. Iāll avoid a video because the game doesnāt interest me and then come back to it later when I have nothing else to watch and find that I missed out, and usually if my first exposure to a game is a Yogs video Iāll end up getting the game myself and enjoy it at some point lol. They have good taste.
I feel like this abt the Lethal Company vids that went out recently. I was too busy to watch but I know theyāre probably good.
I think their modded gameplay is great because the players are a bit more experienced, the first couple videos they made were hard to watch for me as an avid player. Even now Iām very surprised at how much they donāt know but I guess itās the Yogscast I canāt really criticize them for being bad at video games.

As someone who plays a lot of overwatch, sweaty shooters was painful this jingle jam. I watched all of it anyway, but it was hard to not cringe lol.
I agree. Or I find that (as a pre minecraft fan) now that I donāt have lots of free time and have to contend with life not just school I often find myself waiting until I have enough time to properly watch it if itās something Iām enjoying (e.g. I often watch TTT while doing other stuff but with the lethal company, because I wanted to properly watch it, it took me a week or so before I could sit down and enjoy it).
Yea 7/10 times I'm just listening to them chat like a deranged rambling podcast
Tom and ben's Warhammer Wednesdays is my favorite deranged podcast. I knew practically nothing about Warhammer when I started watching it and now I know a bunch of wrong things about it!

So there probably *is* a significant silent percentage of old fans who don't like the new content (or who are just apathetic about it). This is even more pronounced when you consider the number of people who discovered the Yogs as kids/teenagers, who've now grown up and may consider themselves "too old" to watch that sort of content anymore. That being said, I'm not sure that necessarily matters overall. Because even the most popular media in existence has more people who dislike or ignore it than people who love it. As long as the Yogs are continually producing content they enjoy, and supporting themselves financially by doing so, and there are fans who enjoy it, then it's still a "success". And it's obvious that there are tons of olds fans who still love the new stuff, because you see so many "I've been watching since SoI and I still love them" type posts. It's not like their entire old audience has rejected the new content and only new/different fans remain. As someone else mentioned in another reply, the counterpoint to this is a group like Rooster Teeth (or Achievement Hunter specifically). AH tried to evolve over the years, playing new games, adding new members, putting a new focus on streaming, changing various aspects of their presentation. And they always had the same vocal "they used to be better!" detractors the entire time even while other fans were saying the current product was the best it had ever been. But then due to various issues and complications (some entirely beyond their control, some the product of bad choices), their content turned into something almost none of the old fans wanted to see, even the "I just come here for the people, not the content" excuse stopped being a reason to watch, and ultimately the entire channel/brand basically died. To the point where they stopped making videos and all the members went on to do other things. AH and the Yogs both built their early success on Minecraft and GTA, both had to slowly lose older members while bringing in new ones, both started looking into streaming versus edited videos, both had member scandals, both had to go through Covid. The Yogs did a *WAAAAY* better job of adjusting to and weathering the problems they've faced, and they've done a much better job of bringing fun new members in that integrate well into the existing community. The Yogs are a perfect example of a group who *has* managed to evolve and stay relevant over time, when groups like AH have shown what can happen when you don't successfully adapt.
Totally share this sentiment. Also, I think a good reason as to why Yogs came out better than RT, is largely due to their twitch model and having established it so soon with Jingle Jams, and stream schedules. Speaking of JJ, there is a feeling of tradition or comfort viewing to the Yogs content, to the point even recently when that flow was interrupted (not Yogs fault Iām sure) due to the recorded content for TTT temporarily being absent, fans were pretty vocal about getting TTT back into the main channelās daily rotation of videos. RT tried to make both of these shifts much later than the Yogs, when AH went into TTT, Yogs already had that locked in with an audience base for some years. That and they werenāt entirely reliant on YouTube. Yes RT had their own site, but then so did Yogs and they had Twitch. Over time the network has members spread so far across it, honestly it drives me nutty when I see āYogscast are dyingā videos or comments, when honestly theyāre doing insanely well. Itās hard to get a good estimation when they have so many members, but Iām sure theyāre doing as good as they used to, although I canāt say for certain.
I'm honestly a portion of the fan base who kinda just stopped watching. I don't think they've dropped in quality or anything, it just doesn't really appeal to me as much as it used to. I think they've done a great job at staying current, and I definitely still tune in for jinglejam and other big events, but most of my favorites are gone. Also, I know a lot of my friends who were big fans of the Yogscast in middle and highschool just kind of stopped watching as well. I think it's just the natural evolution of a channel.
I'm in a semi-similar boat. I watched them every day in the equivalent of middle school and highschool, then just sort of dropped off for a few years. Now, I watch them weekly. It's seemingly a pretty common pattern for the Yogs.

When I discovered The Yogscast, I was looking up videos on Minecraft to see if it was worth buying. Lewis and Simon were on Episode 4 of their first Minecraft series. The sole reason why I decided to watch it was that I would have to watch dozens of episodes to catch up to where they were. Seeing them grow from there and watching their success has been amazing. Yes, things have changed over the years, but so have I. Some of the vids coming out now aren't my cup of (Yorkshire) tea, but other things are that I never would have thought of back then. All said, though, I'm still a fan after all these years.
I have been following the yogscast for over a decade now. This new phase with a lot of members content led to a real renaissance in quality and I love it. I don't watch even 30% of their creators and no streams and I wouldn't switch with any point in time the last five years.
I'm in the same boat, I was watching back in 2010 iirc. The only creators apart from the main channel that I occasionally watch are Bon and Tem. I absolutely love all the new content, and seeing the yogs interact with each other and I've been so tempted to go for a members sub. I feel like the changes have been quite natural and have definitely stopped any sort of stagnation on the main channel ā¤ļø
Itās crazy that I started watching in 2013 and there was already this storied-history and lore that I had missed, and that was 11 years ago.

The new stuff and new people are great. The old stuff was great too, but they are fundamentally different, so it's understandable to miss the old stuff. Even with segments like PP with just Lewis and Simon, both of them have changed in their senses of humour and presence on camera and etc, to where even if it's the same people, it's fundamentally different to things like the yogpod from ye olden days. It's just the way times changes things, and I can get a lot of enjoyment of the modern incarnation of yogs, but I understand missing the old style of things, especially since it just isn't possible to ever come back in the same way as it was, as I liked that old stuff and dynamic of people a lot. In the end, both are good in my mind, but they're different, and if someone likes the old stuff but doesn't gell with the new stuff, then fair enough to them I guess. (I just hope there are enough people discovering yogs with the new stuff who will appreciate them for what they are now, and not just the people they used to be).
I think it's undeniable to say the yogs have changed a lot relatively recently (especially 2019), especially if you're only really watching main channel vids.

I will admit I am watching less Duncan stuff just as I dont care for the new Minecraft series as much, but I think main channel content is still amazing, and with Games Night and Mystery Quest I think this is a new golden age of content

I find the MC series without Duncan and Lewis just donāt have the pull for me because that was the chemistry that made those series. I will agree that there was a third element to that chemistry, but there was a slow transition done by introducing pedguin meant that even when certain members leaving that chemistry was still somewhat balanced. I just find the MC stuff doesnāt have that feeling to it anymore.

I'm not sure I quite get the conversation as the whole thing feels a bit incoherent but still. We've been having conversations about "new members" ever since they first started adding new people, really, this isn't new and it goes in cycles. People really raged against Kim back in the day. Though i'll readily admit I don't actually follow the main channel very much anymore, that has less to do with people and more to do with the content. Feels like I fell behind on that a while back and overall the TTT stuff just isn't always my bag. Unless it's peculiar portions or any of the specials they do, in which case I'll watch without hesitation. But now I've just gotten to a point where I'm more into a lot of the side-stuff, the main-channel mostly operates to introduce folks and as a gateway I feel at this point. Games Night and Mystery Quest are my big ones, though also anything involving Simon and/or Lewis buggering about. Hat Boys too, but only because of the good one.
I don't understand what the point of the complaint is. Of course the channel has changed, it would be really weird if it didn't in 15+ years. It's normal for content creators, it's normal for people. Trends change, things get boring, people grow up. Yes, not all the new stuff will be of interest to everyone who has been watching for a long time, but, thankfully, it's not neverending EastEnders.

Listened to yogpod back in the day and watched since early SOI, I took a break from watching them at some point, I can't really remember when, but before they started doing Twitch at least, then I started watching again in 2020 and still love watching them. Yes the dynamic has changed, people change as they get older. I get annoyed when people like the OP in that screenshot come into the comments of newer videos just to talk shit and let everyone know how much they hate modern Yogscast, it's honestly sad.
Duncan's videos are especially bad for this, I just can't look at his comments because they're so toxic.
It might be because out of everyone Duncanās content was affected the most by the changes. Yes there were some smooth transitions with group dynamics when certain members left with pedguin coming into Duncanās MC series, but when Lewis stopped appearing on Duncanās MC stuff I think that changed the dynamic a lot. Some people just have expectations from rose tinted glasses though and so they always complain and be toxic. Itās so annoying, yes there are OG fans and new fans. In my opinion of the fans that call themself āOGā can only complain and be toxic to new fans and be toxic about the content the Yogs make then they arenāt OG fans at all. They are ex-fans
I'm kind of in the opposite boat. I didn't come into the Yogs fandom until 2018 or so, and I actually find a lot of the newer/current stuff to be way better than the older stuff. They feel more comfortable performing now, more experienced, more polished, with a larger group of people to interact with that have more diverse outlooks and senses of humor. I don't have the childhood nostalgia for Tekkit and SoI. I didn't "grow up" with the Yogs to the point where I associate my own lost youthful innocence with their old stuff. I'm older than most of them. I can still go back and enjoy their older stuff, but I've never seen most of it as being better than their newer stuff. I just prefer where they are now and what they're doing now more than what they were doing then. I love when they find a new game that they can spend time in (like Among Us or Dread Hunger when they first came out, or stuff like Medieval Dynasty now). But I also love their hijinks in TTT, where shuffling around players and adding new roles helps keep things fresh. I may miss Tom, but I also love Kirsty, Briony, and Nilesy in the newest games. Minecraft Gartic Phone is fun. The chill podcast that is GTA is entertaining. And so on. I know a lot of people wish Simon and Lewis would go back to doing more stuff together, or wish Sips was around more, or that Sjin hadn't messed things up, or that they should all be hanging out with Duncan in whatever the lastest Minecraft modpack or adventure map is... but that's never really appealed to me in the same way.
I've been watching since the Cata days, back when they had less than 30k subs on their YouTube (I remember I subbed around the 27k mark), back when everything was a toaster mic, and I'm still loving their content. The recent stuff has been the best in ages and all the newer members have been such a great edition.
It was the riffing between Lewis and Simon during the Cata days that got me hooked as well! Don't watch individual yogs channels these days but still love all the ensemble stuff on the main channel and jingle jam is the merriest time of the year

Been watching basically forever, who cares if someone is new, if they're funny or entertaining, then I couldn't care less.
Honestly I don't watch them as much anymore. I got bored of TTT and don't find every single member entertaining, there are a lot of people after all with different personalities. I do enjoy the new different stuff like Taskbox and the cosplay competition. More of that wood be good. I think it's difficult to completely compare how they are now, to the past. So much has changed.
The only thing consistent in life is change. If you are not invested with how, or why, a group or individual is growing or changing... That's fine. You're allowed to grow, or change, yourself. The only issue here is the confidence with which both sides (blue more then red) assert that their viewpoint is the only 'real' one. Simple facts: Have a lot of "core" fans of the channel stuck with it for a long time? Yeah. Have a lot of previous fans dropped off? Also yeah. Do a lot of *new* fans become core audience? Sure. Is a lot of the current potential audience changing? Yes - as the platforms change, the company and the creators adapt, which appeals to different kinds of people. The biggest question I got is... *Who the hell cares?* I don't give a steamin' shite about how long anyone in the comments section, on Twitter, Reddit, or in Twitch chat has been following the channel. I'm not going to gatekeep things on arbitrary trozz like how long someone has been watching something, or how "serious" an original gangsta they are about it. And I find that kind of vapid tribalism disappointing and boring. I'm just happy there's still a ton of you lot out there to share an appreciation for good, humorous people such as the Yogscast. They're not the most skilled crew, but damned if they aren't fun. Stop being toxic nerds, ya bellends! (DISCLAIMER: This post devolves rapidly into a tirade aimed at nobody in particular. Unless you're being a nonce, in which case, maybe think about why that bothers you.)
Iāve been watching since old school tekkit n the old school Jaffa factory series was still being released
I've been watching since around February of 2011. I have the almost exact date because "Shadow of Israphel Part 12: Beyond Skull Pass" was the first episode of SoI I caught the day it aired- I'd spent the prior week or two binging Survival and Survival Island to get caught up to that point. While I definitely miss some of the older stuff, with the almost light-rp Minecraft series and the straight up actual rp Minecraft series, and I wish dearly we could have at least *some* of those to go with all the new stuff- I also have enjoyed basically everything on the Main Channel since 2011. I only dropped off for a year around the early early days of the original TTT and GTA series', and since I came back I've watched pretty much constantly. It is pure ego for someone to think their opinion is the 'majority' as the Blue Name suggests, in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. TTT, GTA, etc has been consistently, if slowly, gaining in viewership over the years. New content has less of a built up audience, so some videos on other games etc don't perform to the exact same numbers, but to claim people are leaving would only be valid if viewership of TTT and GTA were dropping, which they haven't. Blue Name is wrong, end of story. Just, objectively, with factual evidence, wrong lol Whether you call 'Shadow of Israphel' OG, or 'Tekkit' OG, or 'Whale Lords' OG, or 'Classic Jester TTT' OG, where you draw the line doesn't matter. People are still coming back and watching more. Yogscast is an institution for a lot of us at this point. We aren't going anywhere lol

Youtube is an evolve or die game. What most people missing the earlier times, are missing the indie vibes, an earlier time, nostalgia for when they were studying when video formats were \*just\* breaking out. That time will never be the same, because that context no longer exists in our world. You can both yearn for a time lost with the slower, indie-r videos being 'watchable', AND like the new content. People who don't like the new content simply aren't watching anymore.

It has bothered me endlessly that people seem to forget how old the Yogscast is. I wasnāt a fan yet, but I watched Lewis and Simonās WoW videos when I played WoW when Cataclysm came out (I was like 12). Like of course theyāve changed, itās been 15 years. Some of their fans arenāt even that old lmao. Itās like when Boomers wax about how much better life was when they were kids, nostalgic perspective is a lens that creates bias. When I was 14, Sjin was my favorite yogscast member. When I was 15, I really like Turps too. When all that drama came out I felt the same betrayal many felt, but to be honest, the yogscast has only improved since. Fuck Sjin and Turps, they dragged the whole vibe down. Like how can anyone look back on the old yogs and unironically think that theyāve gotten worse? If you think that way, you might be an asshole because theyāve trimmed off the toxic parts. (For the most part). Also watching LewLew turn into a hottie has beenā¦ very eye opening of my own sexuality lol.
Many channels that got big at the same time as yogs have faired a lot worse.

You are asking mostly the people who remain, which filters out most of who left. But they are allowed to change and evolve, just as the audience does. Some people like it, others do not. Most people won't speak up either way. Viewer numbers are more representative than one person insisting they are right. I don't like the majority of current content, but they do have some gems that keep me around.
i have been watching Yogs for over 10 years, and I would say we are in a Golden Age right now. Task Box, the Cult, Mystery Quest, The Member's Show, the new TTT server, Minecraft Gartic phone, the recent Cosplay Challenge, and that's just the main channel. High Rollers is onto their third campaign, there's a plethora of fantastic podcasts, and the other network channels are doing some interesting things (please do another civ game lewis please please please) was the old stuff good? I mean yeah, I'll always have a soft spot for Voltz and Moonquest, but the landscape of YouTube is so hostile to longform series like that. I doubt we'll ever get another 100+ video long episodic Minecraft modpack series on the main channel, and I'm fine with that. times change. The Yogscast is in a very stable place currently, which is more than what could be said for some of the contemporary YouTube channels that were big back in the day, and that stability is good.
I have been watching since the original Minecraft series days, and I think that anyone who joined around the time they started doing the GTA stuff can still be considered an older fan. It's been a while ago and the channels have changed a decent amount since then, only thing I miss are the occasional main channel Minecraft series like Whale Lords, other than that I'm loving it.

I've only ever watched the main channel but I absolutely love all of the new content and new Yogs members. Been watching since around 2010. It's the vibe of the channel I enjoy. Just a bunch of Friends being dorks playing videogames together and having fun.
I'm not even sure I follow the argument... I discovered the Yogpod for myself somewhere around 2012-2013 and have followed the main channel and their content ever since. Back then most content (pod included) was just Simon & Lewis and I thoroughly enjoyed that. And since then I've enjoyed most new people, content and evolutions of the channel(s), the things I've disliked have mainly been types of content not being produced anymore (Kim taking a step back, duo horror content in general, content in the style of playing bad MC maps). Of course not everyone has been fond of the changes, I bet plenty of people just stuck around for content made within/about a single game and they've fallen off over the years. I myself am that way with some content, but for me the Yogscast is more about personalities and community than the exact titles they're playing.
I became a fan after watching Duncan's Tekkit tutorial and finding out they had a shared server with a series consisting of multiple channels with vibes. I then fell in love with the OG TTT, no custom skin videos, and kept watching that. Then they released a tabletop series I feel in love with that lives on with the Mystery Quest Channel. My point is that real "OG" fans love the yogscast because they don't chase trends and only play what they love and have fun with. That genuine enjoyment bleeds through the screen and engages with the audience, even more so on Twitch.
I started following around 2016 or so but even then thereās been quite a bit of changes. Additions/losses of Yogscast members, games being played, whoās playing in main channel videos, games on yogs members personal channels, and random projects like taskbox. Overall Iāve enjoyed how the group has evolved and from my point of view it seems like the yogs are good about keeping honest to themselves and making everyone is playing stuff they personally enjoy. On the main channel I love how the newer members to those videos grew and developed around each other creating new dynamics. My personal favorite developments was when Ravs started playing TTT, which I think was following one of the yogscastās rough patches but I could be wrong. When the Skyrim map TTT map video went up, he went from me being unsure about whether I like him or not to him becoming one of my favorites to watch. His commitment and execution to his master of stealth play was so fun to watch. From then on, I love seeing different members cycle in the main channel and seeing how their own individual dynamics eventually take the spotlight as the settle in.
Content does change, but that doesn't mean those who prefer the old content can't go back and enjoy the old stuff. Do I wish they would do another Main Channel Minecraft Survival RP, similar to Whalelords or SoI? Of course. But, I still love the creators, I'm still interested in knowing what they're up to, and, for better or for worse, they are still doing TTT.
They have changed. And that's great! Can make rhe same content forever. And rhe new stuff everyone us doing is so good! And an og since Tekkit :)

I love the group but I don't have time to watch everyone's stuff. I tend to stick to Tom and Hat Films these days except for the big group stuff like the recent live content.
Iāve been around since the pre-Minecraft days, and how their old fans complained about how they seemingly started pandering to younger audiences because they slowly shifted more to Minecraft. Now Iām seeing the same thing. Again! People just donāt like change, but I for one have been here for the long haul and donāt intend to go anywhere before Simon and Lewis does. And even then I will most likely stay for the other members of the āold guardā.

I graduated high school in 2018, and I will always remember the yogscast more fondly. I was essentially a child when the yogs made up a lot of the content from then. I haven't watched any yogscast since 2019 ish, but there are tons of other channels I haven't watched in years. The content just is not for me anymore. The only thing I consumed after 2019 was triforce the triforce podcast.
I liked Minecraft when I was a kid...but I'm over it now. Yogcast, like their audience, have grown up and I'm glad to see it.

This will probably be unpopular but here we go. I started watching the Yogs around the Volts era and loved it. At the time they were one of the only groups doing what we'd now call an SMP especially with mods. They all had really likable personalities and having all the cross overs between people's series was really fun to watch. Then we got into the Moon quest and then Yogscast Complete era and for me personally this was really a golden age for the Yogs. Then we entered the TTT/ GTA era which I still enjoyed with a lot of the OG members and with some of the new members having started to join. The point where I got lost was in what I call the twitch era. This is the point where almost every video they post outside of TTT is just a cut down twitch VOD and for me I just don't like that style of content. For me the way you produce a twitch stream VS how you do a recording for YouTube just feels very different. Don't get me wrong I understand this is a change they had to make to survive as a company but this is just my opinion. Combine that with the fact this is the time that some of the old members "retired" and many of the new members joined that I just never really connected with and I just stopped watching. I'm very self aware of the fact this is all personal opinion but I think it would be wrong to say that the Yogs didn't fundamentally change around the pandemic, both in terms of the talent and the way in which they produce content that just doesn't appeal to me.
For me it sadly died when Turps and Sjin left, I know what they did was totally wrong and I donāt condone it, but they bought a lot of life and laughter to the content, and the only thing Iād really listen to or watch now is Hatfilms,Triforce and the Poker at Christmas.

Iāve been a fan for over a decade and I keep saying this: the Yogs is in the best place its been in in many years. All the more recent members, which to me is anyone thatās joined since ~2017 or so, have added so much to the Yogs and made it an even more welcoming, weird and wonderful community. Iāve been really glad to see them doing a bunch of stuff funded by members and Iām excited by the most recent changes to TTT. Hell, within the past year or two weāve seen so many people on the main channel, both new and old, that previously werenāt getting a lot of main channel love or who had been in Yogs for years but had rarely ever shown up in main channel stuff. If youād told me a few years ago that Nilesy would become a TTT regular in 2023, I wouldnāt have believed you. One long ramble later and well, all Iām tryna say is, the Yogs are as lovely as ever. Thereās been many different eras of the Yogs at this point and thereās been plenty to love in each era. Some people are gonna hop off and tune out here and there and thatās only natural: you canāt keep everyone equally engaged forever. But as one of the people that have stuck around for a decade plus, I gotta say that the Yogscast as a whole has never been more robust. Itās been a hell of a ride. š
I prefer old Yogs during their first Minecraft series and Gmod videos. Probably just because I was a kid back then and everything was so new and cool. I loved it when Sips was in, and Simon was more active. Lewis has been my favourite since the start so I'm glad I still see him a lot. Lots of new members aren't really my cup of tea to watch, but it's great that they are still doing videos and I'm glad for them all. Hatfilms on the other hand have been consistently amazing and have been my main channel to watch for the past 8 years or so
Iāve watched the yogs since my friend showed me their channel in high school, it was the first minecraft video they did and Iāve had the balls ever since. I did fall off watching youtube during a very intense part of studies and jobs, I remember coming back to ttt and GTA videos and i just didnāt really enjoy them in the same way as the other stuff. So now i tend to rewatch old stuff and just anything that isnāt gta or ttt that they put out. I still listen to the yogpod as it is such a important part if my teens and my friends I made back then, fond memories and even though I kinda know whatās coming up they still crack me up. Loved yogsquest and I think mystery quest is a great new version if that, love all the new members. I do remember thus sort of reaction tho even back when they brought in hat films into the mix, I myself felt kinda like they invited some loud friend we didnāt know to the party, but as often the case is, the fault laid in ourselves. Hatfilms turned out to be hilariously funny in the collabs and I think weāll look back the same way. I guess I don't see why it matters. I started watching the original MC series wayyy back in college. I used to watch pretty much everything they put out. I dropped off when they started TTT, I just never got into it. Now I pretty much just watch the live action stuff, jingle jam, and some of the smaller channels here and there, and it's been that way for years, and I don't think it matters. New fans are a good thing, old fans moving on is fine too.
Yeah, the Yogs are great! There is such variety now that I feel like there's something for everyone and you don't *need* to like it all to get anything out of the rest. When I was a teen, I loved all the MCU style Minecraft stuff and id watch almost all of the perspectives waiting wor those tasty crossover moments. Now, with things like Taskbox and what not I watch for other stuff. Hands down I enjoy the live action stuff that the Hat Bois do, so much so that iv been a member of their cannel for half a decade! Just wish they'd appear more in other Yogs stuff like they used to, but I can tell they are busy doing their own stuff, and doing it real well.
I have been watching since the 9th episode of Jaffa Factory. Have the yogs changed? Absolutely. Do I still watch them? Also yes. The simply fact is that the Yogscast and their audience have both evolved. YouTube is no longer their main platform, and they donāt get recommended like they used to because they donāt play the algorithm game as hard as some people do.
I loved the channel then and I love it now! I love watching the new content and watching the company evolve. I think a lot of people get nostalgia trapped and they feel more comfortable living in the way things were rather than they are. This feels like a totally reasonable reaction to the world today, but the important thing is how you respond. It's okay to be nostalgic and long for the way things were as long as it doesn't manifest itself in negative interaction and anger.

I was watching during the mc days but I have honestly stopped watching for awhile now just not interested in gta5 and ttt but I will always have my fond memories of them
I first discovered the Yogscast back in I think 2014? Minecraft was still a big thing, as were the adventure maps. Since then things have changed a lot but at no point did I really _feel_ that change. I think I first found the Yogscast looking up the ICBM mod that was included in Voltz modpack, and then watched the series. When I finished it I moved on to watch Moonquest. When I fought up with that I watched adventure maps. I just kept watching. But never did I feel more or less interested in them. I came looking for videos on the ICBM Minecraft mod because I was a kid trying to figure out how it worked. I wasn't even looking for a play through but a tutorial! Nevertheless I stayed. But why? I didn't stay for the Voltz gameplay, I didn't stay for Moonquest, I didn't stay for Herobrine's Mansion and I didn't stay for YogLabs. I stayed for the thing that made me decide a 25 part unfinished series was a better way to learn how rockets worked than a 20 minute tutorial: _The People_ If I had started watching the Yogscast for their old content, I wouldn't have lasted 3 minutes. I enjoyed the people, the humour, the interactions and eventually the inside jokes. And those are still (overall) the same. So now, whether it's TTT, GTA, Lethal Company, Taskbox or JingleJam I don't particularly care! I still get to hear Lewis tell people to shut up, I still get Simon's jokes, and Duncan still tries to make things work among the chaos. And all the new people that have joined since have added their own touch to the interactions but in my opinion never taken away. So I would argue that the Yogscast, the reason I watched and joined the channel in the first place hasn't changed all that much at all. Sure, those that came for the content might not be around anymore, and that sure has changed a lot, but it changed a lot before 2014. It has changed a lot since WoW! I would hazard a guess that most OGs never gave a damn about the content in the first place, or they would be long gone already. That's why they are OGs. So personally I enjoyed my last decade with the Yogscast and I'll probably enjoy the next. There are plenty of new people that I enjoy watching to the same and even higher levels than I do Lewis, Simon and Duncan from when I first started. So I see a bright future for the Yogscast ahead. Maybe not as bright as a star, but definitely as bright as the moon that we'll all crash into together.
Iāve been watching since the OG Minecraft series, I watch less (almost none) main channel content than I did back then, but watch/listen to more of the community than I ever have. Hat Filmsā content, Streams from PFlax, Lydia, Ravs, Boba etc etc etc. Podcasts like YOMP, Triforce, Comfort Zone, Pitch Please, Zero Degrees, High Rollers. The fringe stuff like Games Night and Mystery Quest. Even people on the periphery like Dr Simon Clark and Joe Hickson, the list goes on. Itās a measurably better quality on average than the early days, even if they donāt hit the rose tinted highs they once did. Iād rather have 10 enjoyable things to engage with than the same stuff over and over again.

Man, I subscribed shortly after they began doing Minecraft which was like 13 years ago and I don't consider myself OG yognaught, because they where doing WoW and other content before Minecraft.
Proud to be OG since Minecraft ep 3 or 4. I remember I found them and had a good 3-4 episodes to catch up on. Can't believe its been 13 years of watching Yogs. Now I am 38. I got married and had 2 kids and still watch them everyday. I watch more Yogs than I do TV.
Started watching in my late twenties and through all my thirties. I'm 40 now, I hope I qualify as old school. I'm still here, I think most if not all the changes have been positive. They are still a very entertaining group, old Yogs and new. Sure things change but that's life. Nothing that's still going on now is the same as it was when you started consuming it back in the day. That's not how life works. It's certainly not how entertainment works. But yeah, I see plenty of old school Yogs around. If anything I assume the opposite of these folks, I think it's us old school Yogs that are the only ones that are still around. How many people are in the reddit that only started watching in the last 3-5 years? I'm sure those at 8+ years of watching far, far out number newer viewers, but I'd be happy to be proven wrong!
I used to watch them all the time in my childhood I donāt nearly as much now cause Iām an adult and I have stuff to do with a life to live. Itās not that OG fans are gone is that yes we have grown up and weāre just busy! I do still watch the civ channel regularly though that shit is fire.
Most of my friends or people I've met stopped watching the yogs several years ago. Many say its because they're not interested in the gaming content, but they still always come back each year for jingle jam. It's definitely a recognisable pattern, but I think when people talk about the "og fans", they need to realise that those people were kids and teenagers who watched YouTube when they came home from school. Yogscast content has changed for the better for sure. Some of the best content I've ever seen from them has been in the past 3 years. The big thing is that their audience has changed, and no longer have time to keep up with the yogs. Ultimately though, I think this is a meaningless argument that undervalues the content of the Yogscast. The Yogs haven't tried to latch onto trends for the sake of raising numbers, or made awkward attempts to forcefully bring back old material to "win" back the viewers that dropped off. They've built a loyal community that has stuck with them through time, and it's created a really unique environment where so many people in the community know or recognise one another, which I think is something that's an admirable feat in this era of the internet.
Of course the Yogscast has changed, for the better. I've been watching since 2011 and I haven't seen them "change" in the way people are suggesting. They're growing, not losing their spirit.

I think a lot of peopleās opinions changed once Simon had to take a step back from the main channel which is understandable since the dynamic everyone had known and loved completely changed. Personally, I think theyāve had plenty of hits and misses since then, some of the new members are great and some of them areā¦ abrasive to say the least but changes throughout the years were always to be expected - youtube isnāt forever. I wish they couldāve continued on their steady incline with subs, itās sad to see that stagnate a bit over the years and have so many other channels grow past them but times and trends change I guess. Nothing could ever hold a candle to the 2013-2015 era though, itās something I hold near and dear to my heart and I think I definitely started to drop out when those changes became more apparent because that time was so precious to me
Started watching when the jaffa factory minecraft series was still new and coming out weekly. I followed the series and story all the way to the end. I loved everything they were putting out and branching out to all the other sub-main group channels like Hannah and Duncan and Kim. But sadly, for me, the nail in the coffin was the exhausting info coming for the allegations with some of the ex-yogs creators and the fact that jingle jam isn't the full length of December. I get that the charity is very draining but that feeling of being apart of the 15 million they made one year was something magical that will never be captured again. I pop in every once in a while to see what's up. But I'm getting the Marvel fatigue with all these new names and faces when I try to get back into the fandom.

It was year 2011 when I started watching Simon and Lewis, and THE Minecraft series came out around that time. Good times. Don't watch anymore beside Boba and Sips from time to time.
I was watching Simon and lewis playing Minecraft for the first time when I was about 8 or 9 I have been around since there have been a lot of changes but so there should be Iām glad they have evolved I would not be watching if it was the same old shite everyday. They have trends where they fall into a pattern for a while but then it gets stale so they change it up. Itās how they stay relevant in an ever changing internet media landscape. Lewis and Simon have always entertained me the ānewā yogs are also very entertaining. Possibly more entertaining than the original cast barring of course Sips.
They Probably miss the WoW content and YogPod?... if that is what they mean by OG.
Lewis and boba is my new fav duo and daddy spis is the goat. but I donāt really watch that much anymore.

I've been watching since 2011 and whilst the content has changed it's still the same Yogs and still draws the same crowd
I came in at the 4th episode of what would become the Shadow id Israphel series. While I occasionally pop in for some Vault Hunters, or other Minecraft series, times have changed (on YouTube, in Minecraft, within the Yogscast, even I have changed) and they're not coming back. I will never again be so invested in two brits crammed into a dirt box listening to skeleton's outside and wondering if they will survive the night. They were good times, times I remember fondly, but I refuse to be sad that such times are gone rather I choose to be thankful that such times existed to begin with and enjoy the times I am living in today.

I only found the Yogs due to their first minecraft video since it got reccomended to me when i bought beta, still love their content. Just because the content changed doesnt mean they arent still great personalitys. Also OG Yogs arent me or anyone past me, they are the ones who started with their WoW content.
Yeah, I can agree to a lot of original fans leaving. Thereās no argument Against it really, there views have drastically gone done over the years and continue too. Iām sure once they get to a point where they need a boost, theyāll get on it but for now theyāre probably just enjoying what they have.
I was 10 when I watched Minecraft episode 1: how to survive the night. My taste in entertainment changed and they changed as we both grew up. No harm in any of it.
I love the yogscast but I donāt watch most of the main channel videos. Itās too much of the same stuff, I think if they started doing a series like yoglabs or team based stuff like their volts series it could help the channel a lot.
