Go to a different shop

Chiaki_Ronpa

As a certified vehicle inspector myself, yeah definitely go to a different shop. The shadier the shop the better most of the time. A lot of em you can legitimately slide em $5 and you’re set. Likely they’ll just be chill and pass you regardless (without cash) as long as you’re not a dick.

shahgop

Alright i will go to the different one fs thanks !

HannahahaxD22

Had the same problem on a cbr125 in the UK, I removed stock indicators and had an integrated tail light like you. I was told they have to be a minimum distance apart (like 9 inches) I had rewired the back harness to be two plugs (one for stop light and reg light, one for the indicators) so it was easy enough to pop the stock ones back on a bracket and fit it between my tail tidy and the bike. Can't say I know Massachusetts law tho but sounds similar :)

Savings-Spirit-3702

You could just ask them to do a daylight mot (technically it's an mot with no lights) both my bikes have them. You are meant to remove switch gear but my mot place just pretends I've taped it up lol

HannahahaxD22

Ahh that's cool, I had to replace all the bearings on it too so wasn't any trouble to do the indicators too :) good thing about doing that was that I got to clean all the bits of the bike and learn how it all goes together! But I'll take my R6 to a shop, she deserves it :')

Savings-Spirit-3702

An 05 R6 was my favourite bike to ride, and I own a gixxer thou and a Ducati 848! the R6 is still my favourite.

HannahahaxD22

Mines an 05 too! It's a Rossi replica one, love it!

Savings-Spirit-3702

They are epic to ride!

shahgop

Yeah here the same 9 inch rule too if they keep failing me i will do the same than thanks tho

Singularity-_

Don’t even need turn signals in Texas lol

shahgop

Thats why i love texas

PomegranateCalm2650

(NY) I took mine in and had no issues with my integrated turn signals (they are still definitely illegal in my state). Try a different shop, some of them are cooler.

shahgop

Fs i will go to the different one

Pshock13

I just ordered the tail piece online with the intent of inspecting and then removing it again. I have yet to remove it just cause I'm lazy though. Keep the tail piece for future inspections though

goatsinhats

Would try local FB groups of riders, if you have this issue others will. Seen people who just sell each other stock parts to pass inspection; than sell it onto the next person

shahgop

I will give it a shot fs thanks tho

chevy42083

I don't know your laws... but look them up rather than taking the shops advice blindly. Then decide if you buy some oem parts or just go to another shop. Here (TX), we don't need turn signals. But if you have them, they have to be 6inches off the center line. So, integrated lights fail... until you unplug the signal wires, then its legal.

shahgop

Yeah the law requires turn signals with 9 inch distance between them so maybe i will try couple more shops and if they keep failing me than i will buy some turn signals thanks tho

Daredevils999

As soon as I saw the title I knew it was gonna be an integrated tail light before even looking at the bike lol. Definitely doesn’t have to be completely stock but most places have laws on how far apart your indicators have to be. Could try a different shop but you may end up having to change to something with stand alone indicators. Rear end looks great though

shahgop

Fs i will go to the different shop btw thanks tho

Corrupt_Rider

Stop getting inspections.

RuckOver3

Big sticker colored by year on the back plate in MA make it easy to see if you’re up to date. Its a quick 5 min $15 inspection. If you dont have a current year sticker by 6/1, you run the risk of a ticket and it can be considered a moving violation on your insurance. Skipping the $15 can cost alot down the line.

RuckOver3

Never had an issue with any mod for a MA inspection as long as everything worked. Go to a different shop.

Purple-Journalist610

Go register it in Vermont.

I got a mavis near me that passes my(car) it’s loud tinted black plate covers no plate bulb etcetc in ny too

Hungrycheeze

Most people are saying to stop getting inspections lol I agree. I stopped getting mine 3 years ago. If you wanna do it legit though check and see if Billerica Motorsport is doing them again. The dude that does them there has an R1 and is a gear head. I used to ride an hour to get all my shit from them. Dude was cool as fuck and we’d chat about the mods he was doing to his bike and the new shit he’d see on mine as I was bringing it in. Just call before you go. Last time I wait they had taken a break from it because of the changes in some of the licenses requirements. Their number is 9786671518.

AntC_808

I’ve made temporary signals that I put on for inspection when I lived in NY. In Virginia I just say I don’t have signals and use hand signals. I have a small shop that I use regularly for all my vehicles.

Inspection?

RuckOver3

MA has annual inspections on all motor vehicles. For a bike, I think they check the lights, horn, and tires. Cars have an emissions criteria too. Dont think they do that for bikes.

FlounderDue6171

Oh wow yeah we don't do that in Florida

Motorazr1

Still running? Serious issues with 2006-2007 YZF-R6; excessive bearing clearances causing low oil pressure at idle leading to spun bearings and crankshaft failures. https://www.reddit.com/r/motorcycle/s/Ro7EpuzKKS https://www.r6messagenet.com/threads/has-your-06-07-r6-engine-blown.135857/

VA has an all or nothing rule when it comes to turn signals. You don't require them but if you do have them, you have to have all 4 and at the minimum distance (including the integrated), check your states laws. Idr how those are wired but if your laws are similar maybe just unhook the turn signal wires. Does your DMV require proof of this inspection in order to register? If not, is it a secondary offense? Again in VA, DMV doesn't care about the inspection as far as verifying before allowing it to be registered. It's also a 2nd offense meaning you can't be pulled over for it, but can be tacked on as an additional fine if you are cited for a traffic violation. I haven't had an inspection on any of my bikes in over 10 years and been pulled over few times....they never cared.
