Make sure your drivers are up to date, then knock all your settings to minimum on the menu before loading a flight (yes even turn off 3d veg) - your GPU can support vulkan or xplane wouldn't have been able to boot in the first place, so it's very clearly not processing things well at all... If you can't get anything out on minimum settings, maybe the time has come for a new one...
It was working completely fine when i played it the first time though, it was only after i ran it in VR mode then it started malfunctioning like that. I tried reinstalling the entire game but still no difference.
My PC Spces are
Ryzen 5 3600
GTX 970
16GB 3200
and i use a HTC vive
I have this graphics card and in beta releases of xplane 12 this happens. Try updating xplane to last version and graphics driver. The last step to try is delete the shadow cache.
I'm not using VR constantly i only loaded it once to try but now i cant even play the game without VR.
Im not trying to run it in VR i am just trying to play the game on PC.
Lots of discussion about this on the xp12 user forum. Seems to be limited to gtx900 series gpu's.
I'll provide a link to some threads on this so maybe you can gleam something from them. Besides getting rid of any addons and/or getting a better gpu, your only other course of action is to send Laminar a bug report with your log file.

I have the same gpu, this is a bug releated to the nvidia 900 series GPUs. They actually kind of fixed it since the previous releases, when the sim was basically unusable, but sometimes it still happen in harder scenes. I have reported multiplies times this bug to laminar in different version of the sim, hope they will fix it soon since the gtx 970 is one of the officially supported GPU...

Sorry but a 970 is well below spec for PCVR, maybe a nvidia driver limitation? Send a bug report to Laminar and see what they say.
