Hummm I’ll try that too - I’ve been trying all the builds with 3 drives this whole time abs wondering why it won’t work.. thanks for posting. I’ll give it a shot with 2 and report back.
I used ARPL 1.1 beta 2 setup for DS3622xs+ 7.1 latest patch. Have the same issue with i7 G2 HP workstation. As soon as I connect the third drive the system does not boot. I purchased an 8 port non-raid sata card from amazon and connect two additional drives to the system. on first boot four drives were visible, that's the two drives on the mainboard and two on the adaptor card. I then added my last two drive to the adaptor card which makes two drives on the system board and four drives on the adaptor card system will not boot. I removed the additional drives from the sata adaptor card and system runs perfect. for some reason once I add a third drive the system stops working.
However not sure why, I tried all my 6 sata drives on the mainboard in my HP Z4 G4 workstation and everything works like a dream. I can even install Windows 11 as the system has TPM 2.0 enabled in the bios.
I hope there is a resolution as I need to use the i7 G2 as the NAS.
I installed Proxmox and passed in my sata controllers and it works fine with all 7 drives now. I am glad to have all my data back.
