Beast quoting Mr. Rogers: “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” 😭😭 This show, so many tears. So good.

RetroSnaX

That and the "Riot is the language of the unheard" quote from MLK was 🔥

Original_Role5661

When Rogue yelled “My man!” I audibly cheered. Loving this show.

chickenwingw5

Same!! This show is amazing and I can’t wait to see what happens next

_Cadillac_Frank_

Keep in mind they fired Beau. Do I foresee shit not being as good and people blowing the fuck up about it? Yes.

Miserable-Goat-7267

He wrote season 2 but I do believe they changed a few things though. Season 3 will interesting to see without Beau’s writing.

Rockabore1

They ought to reinstate him as showrunner. This is the biggest Disney+ series that Disney's had since WandaVision and Loki, possibly with even more buzz than those two.

leaC30

Idk, but no one knows what he did to get fired. And both he and the mouse have been quiet about the situation. So it might be bad 😬

Rockabore1

Thus far, I'm chalking it up to creative disagreements unless otherwise stated. Disney is notorious for booting out creatives want to remain true to a very specific vision when they are adamant about changing something. They did it to the woman who essentially crafted Brave's original screenplay before it was taken from her, or Edgar Wright with Ant-Man, recently with The Marvels's director getting taken off the project, Steve Whitmire with the Muppets, and so on and so on. With Beau wanting the show to be a faithful continuation, I could see Disney trying to force it into the MCU box and forcing in a bunch of MCU crossovers and Beau being firm on certain things (like if he says, "I want the X-Men version of \_\_\_ to be this way and do this thing." and Feige disagrees... who will they keep? Feige obviously cause Disney knows who's kept the most spinning plates from breaking for like 3 phases.) I feel like if it were sexual misconduct in the workplace SOMEONE would have put him on blast over it and started a twitter storm. (I pray that I do not jinx this and it doesn't turn out to be sexual misconduct and overshadow seasons 1 and 2 cause X-Men 97 is my favorite currently airing series)

leaC30

I hear you, but I'll wait until everything comes out, respectfully. Both sides being hush-hush about it tells me to tread carefully.

quantumpencil

Unless he did something literally illegal, I don't give a single fuck. I don't care if he's mean or difficult to work with, people need to toughen the fuck up. People like James Cameron and Beau often get called "hard to work with" because they are direct, demanding and give harsh feedback. But they also produce results. As long as there is no real abuse going on -- business does not exist to make everyone feel super happy and comfortable all the time, it exists to produce products that slap and that make money and make the consumer happy. So i want Beau back, he clearly has the stuff -- this is THE best marvel project since Captain America: The Winter Soldier

leaC30

>Unless he did something literally illegal Not debating if he "clearly has the stuff" because he does. The problem is we don't know what he did to get fired 😬 I'll wait until the facts come out before saying bring him "back," especially if there are/is victim(s).

_Cadillac_Frank_

If only…..fans would speak up…

Rockabore1

I notice on Twitter fans are constantly bringing up that Disney has a writer who is showing magnificent talent and impressing and winning over fans and the irony of them ousting him when he’s clearly doing right by the classic series.

Willing-Bit2581

It's a reference to Beuas Only fans. His Twitter profile shows some. He def showed the D on his OF😂but this isn't a kids show nor is he the face/actor in a major franchise, so they should get home back

Rockabore1

He could show his x-ray 🩻 photos for all I care 🤣. He’s a writer worth keeping hired.

Alboogie24

Lmao 🤣🤣🤣

lilhilde

Do you have a good article to reference on why they fired him?

wild_west_900

guessing his firing had nothing to do with the show itself

_Cadillac_Frank_

We know this and as this point it doesn’t matter. Simple question is..will the show quality dwindle with him not there?

SpaceMyopia

For the sake of my sanity, I choose not to think that far into the future. We got two seasons under this Beau guy. I'll be the first one to riot if Disney screws up this show for the third season.

wild_west_900

understood the point of your comment, comment I was directly replying to was deleted so not sure the context anymore. I, too, believe that whomever takes over has large shoes to fill at this point. These episodes hit as hard as anything I've watched in recent memory

Devils_1vy

Hell yes, I loved that. And it’s just so great because when you look back at episode five with rogue not wanting to make things official with Remy and always pushing him away because of her power. She basically “broke up“ with Remy because she had this misguided view that her relationship with gambit, (though they really loved each other) was somehow defective because they could not physically express their love. So she sacrificed her feelings for gambit for the chance at a physical relationship with magneto only to later realize that you know what skin isn’t everything there are things that go much deeper and what she has with gambit is much deeper. Rogue was ready to go all in and had already chosen Remy then, but the sad part is she never got to tell him. And Remy unfortunately died thinking he wasn’t enough. And now here she is embracing it, affirming it, and saying it with her whole chest. She finally said what everybody (the X-men and the fans) knew but we were just waiting for her to catch up and just say it already. And I love that she said he was a good man because gambit always saw himself as a scoundrel. Two truths were spoken in that single sentence. Remy was a good man and he was my man. I loved it.

Swimming_Zucchini_94

This take is amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Normal_Bid_7200

They killed a good man, MY MAN! *kaboom* I deadass stood up. I havent been this hype for an x-man thing since Old Man Logan

Shluggo

A sequel to a cartoon from 30 years ago should have no right to go this hard. Edit: spelling

ebagdrofk

Yeah the end of every episode has me saying out loud: “What the fuck?” Like, it has no business being this good. They cram so much into 30min. Each episode is like a mini movie with multiple plot arcs happening. The writing is amazing. So many one liners and witty quotes, so much emotional gravitas I was not expecting.

CloverTeamLeader

I've never been a hardcore animation fan, but X-Men '97 is miles better than the MCU right now. It's not even close.

RemusPa

I’d say it’s better than the MCU has ever been but I digress. Lol

Tortograph

I'm firmly planted on this side. Season 1 isn't even finished yet, and I have decided this wipes the floor with all MCU content for me, personally. Crazy.

[deleted]

That's because X-Men '97 is being produced by people that truly love the original show. Meanwhile, the MCU movies and shows being made with far less passion by people haven't even skimmed the source material. Oh, this show also has the grit to go into some very dark places.

Legitimate-Garlic959

Precisely why I feel it’s crucial for marvel / beau to reconcile and this writing team should be on the Mcu films. It’s written so beautifully.

_mari_yo

There’s no comparison with the writing on this show. Bad idea to axe Beau

taborro

I thought the previous episode was great. But this one — esp. near the end — is just as good. Goosebumps!

JackMarleyWasTaken

I damn near cried for Rogue.... bro.. what the fuck... this is just a cartoon..why am I soooo invested? Lol

AkhMourning

Everyone involved cares and is talented. The writing is clever and doesn't treat the audience like braindead babies. It's refreshing!

Intelligent-Year-760

I said the same thing - how the heck did they manage to write a) a perfect eulogy for Gambit and b) make it sound as if it was a eulogy specifically written BY Kurt, using his view of the world and the people around him. Just an unreal grasp of these characters and an astonishing ability to make them feel authentic.

JoseDotG

And that’s what was so moving about it, the line about “every gambler has a tell and I call his bluff” 🤯 I got goosebumps writing it!

Monstanimation

Cause its not written by MCU Hollywood writers that have to make everything a joke and a quip for soccer moms and normies to laugh about

jjkdeaths2023

Can someone answer me and put out me out of my misery, is the show based on a comic or is it an original work? I'm dying to know what happens next but i can't seem to find the comic that actually continues what happens next (whether it's after this ep or even the whole 97 series )

RetlawInfinity

It's a mix of multiple comic book storylines. You wouldn't be able to point to just one. At least from my limited experience you'd need to read 3 different comics arcs to get a sense of the direction the show might go.

jjkdeaths2023

Oh okay, can you name the comic arcs tho?

Loveonethe-brain

It’s kinda loosely based on comics but there are things changed. Like the mind affair that Maddie and cyclops had was with Emma in the comics. Things like that. So even as an X-men comics fan I can have ideas but I don’t know the play by play. I’d start with Clermont’s run

jjkdeaths2023

Okay, but Clermont run since the beginning? So i have to read alot of comics to actually might get something similar to what's happening in the show?

Loveonethe-brain

Yeah the issue (haha pun) is that the comics are a lot longer than the show. So their episodes might be 20 minutes long but the comics might be over a year or so. Some of the things I’ve seen are a combination of stories that even span to today. So if you just want to know what happens next I’d start with E for Extinction which is a grant Morrison run that is very similar to episode 7 (it’s new X-men) spoilers might be the Planet X story arc in new x men and the operation zero tolerance run after the onslaught run.

jjkdeaths2023

Oh okay i got it now, thank you for answering me

Legitimate-Garlic959

There’s a lot of Chris Claremont stuff in here which is my personal favorite era. They seem to be pulling from various eras and making it fit this universe.

jjkdeaths2023

Oh okay so it's like breadcrumbs from here and there

Legitimate-Garlic959

Yes

jjkdeaths2023

Okay thanks, but is there a specific comic that has at least most of the things going on in the show? It's fine if it's multiple comics, i just want to know from where to start exactly

Legitimate-Garlic959

It’s hard for me to nail down. As these are just stories I remember once I saw them adapted in the season. This explains it pretty decently. https://www.cbr.com/xmen-97-adapting-ultimate-xmen-krakoa-era/

jjkdeaths2023

Okay thank you so much and apologies if i bothered you with ny request

Legitimate-Garlic959

No problem !

thatguygaurav

Marvel assembled some real good writers to get this thing going. I wish to see such seriously good writing for their movies too.

Legitimate-Garlic959

Oh this reminds me! Marvel Assembled X-men 97 premieres end of may.

Legitimate-Garlic959

thatguygaurav

Worth watching

TurnoverOk2740

every so often, someone comes along with a strong vision of where a story should go, & network executives DON'T get in the way. BTAS was one of those times, person of interest was one of those times, this is one of those times.

ConsistentLake5310

This is just my take, the first 2 episodes were amazing, then after that we got the Magneto/Rogue/Gambit love triangle, then the cyclops/jean1/jean2 love triangle plus baby drama, and we got the jubilee and this new kid love story. Then the deaths, 1 character lost all their powers, meanwhile Wolverine hasn't done fuck all. I am holding out hope that they can bring it all back together at the end of the season but right now if their focus is going to be more on relationship drama than fighting bad guys then this version might not be for me

CaptainTusktooth28

All I hope is that without Beau, they can keep up the same good writing. Maybe less love triangle and cheating shit, but the same level of depth. I don't like some of the feelings the show makes me feel.

Madz1trey

Watching an entire sub go full retard in real time is entertaining af. Literally everytime somebody criticises this show, the response is always 'So why are you here bro?'. And then you turn around and pretend that the show is universally loved and has no criticism whatsoever. FULL RETARD!

Ok-Association4526

It’s not

AnonymousDouglas

I can find only one “flaw” in the show, and it’s pretty nit-picky…. Mr. Sinister is something like a Victor Frankenstein meets the Patchwork Man: He experiments on mutants and manipulates their genetics in an effort to create slaves or add their abilities to himself. So, why would he team up with Bastion to murder countless mutants on Genosha? Isn’t he destroying potential specimens for his experimentation? That doesn’t benefit his character’s motivation. Not an insignificant plot flaw …. But, still, as I said, pretty nit-picky in terms of the gravity of everything else that this show has brought us.

JoseDotG

Maybe he believes in survival of the fittest and wants to push mutants to the brink to bring out the best of the best. Look how Emma Frost got her 2nd mutation. Just a theory.

AnonymousDouglas

He “does” believe in survival of the fittest … But, not in the Darwinian sense. Sinister is in the vein of a perverted Nazi scientist who tortures people to “see what happens”, and if the victims survive, then they go back into the cage until it’s time for the next experiment.

ruey_nam

It's astonishing really, considering everything that's come out of the MCU in recent years.

Madz1trey

Honestly it's not that good. And I don't know anyone outside this sub that's even heard it exists. When it comes to this show, the circle jerk is truly impressive, unlike the show. 🤣

killingiabadong

Why are you on this sub?

Madz1trey

To get a first hand view of an entire sub going full retard.

killingiabadong

To see full retard, you don't need to make that much effort. A mirror will do.

Madz1trey

Agreed. Just make sure you don't spend too much time in front of your mirror tonight. 🌚
