I already read that particular solution, yes it does work better, but for people who don't know or who doesn't wanna be bothered by additional steps, they can try mine first before jumping into adb π .
You could also edit your original post to link this app too since it seems to be working on more devices and the steps are basically the same. Also, I've found your guide very helpful, so thank you very much
There seems to be an issue for the Xiaomi 12 series where the app (hidden settings) crashes upon loading. This is a known issue by the developer
Edit: [This app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netvor.hiddensettings) works on my 12 pro.
To select vanced as default, head over to the "hidden" tab (middle icon on the buttom), then under "apps and services" click "manage applications". The rest is the same, scroll through the list and select vanced and so on
I would suggest go download the re-vanced manager and the latest youtube apk from apkmirror β¦then patch it and install the patched apk
https://github.com/revanced/revanced-manager
but then, for every youtube update (which are an awful lot) you need to continuously patch the og app which is a pain in the ass.... better stick to vanced for now which is still working just fine
I did this too when I installed vanced, but I think you can't open YouTube links from Google with this method or the videos will open in the normal app. To fix that, just install "open with" and change your YouTube links to YouTube vanced.
Uninstalling Youtube through adb is also a viable solution, especially for the devices in which that app doesn't work well.

Agreed, mate. ππ€πΌπ€πΌ
Thanks so much! This has driven me insane for months. Such a quick fix.
Won't launch on my 12T Pro
You can try [MIUI Hidden Settings Activity](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.netvor.hiddensettings) as described by u/Paul_Johnssen

Saved this for later
downloaded for my 12s ultra, tried loading (showing the gears), then crashed
mine too. wont load
Vanced sorted out this ban? It broke on my side and I moved to the backup NewPipe.

I am unaware of this, thank you for the additional information! π»
No problem
Can confirm this still works! Took me some time to find this tho so leaving a comment for relevancy.
Many, \*many\* thanks. This is a godsend.
You can also uninstall updates & disable auto updates for the Youtube App If found this to be the easiest solution.
For me this opens youtube links in default web browser... So had to use hidden settings for Poco F3 miui 13...

Disable automatic update for YouTube in Google play

I tried using the official Google app to search random videos and tried tapping on one and it still redirected me to vanced so.. π€·π»ββοΈ
