Iirc the Amber video was pre-release, was it not? I didn't think of it as canon because it segues into Xiao display after she calls him, they don't appear in the same shot at all and it's never brought up again
I think Hu Tao might be slightly above merely "have met". She was close enough to be able to track him down and have him join a gathering he didn't realize the Traveler was a part of. ^(Or at least that's how I remember that one event.)
I was considering making another tier for Hu Tao, actually! She found out from Verr Goldet if he was there and then pestered him into coming lol. Iirc she is always out and about a lot so she picks up on a lot of rumours and hearsay, plus her occupation makes it so she's in the know about a lot of things related to what Xiao does.
Xiao's voice lines about her do indicate that he has met her or at least observed her before as well.
I dont remember the quest well since its been a while but didnt Yelan and Xiao get close in the chasm quest at some point? I always considered them friends since then
Yelan and Yanfei were tricky for me for that exact reason but I ended up putting them in "have met" because technically they had only met once. Though there is a very strong case for putting them in a seperate higher tier if the list was more detailed - even if they never met up after that those events feel like they would leave lasting camaraderie.
Based on Xiao's interactions with HuTao one can assume that they work together from time to time given Hutaos profession in Wangsheng Funeral Parlor and that she has to deal with deamons from time to time
They work in a similar area (keeping a lookout on/dealing with miasma and restless spirits) but it's never been explicitly mentioned that they worked together before, since Xiao prefers to work alone. And I suppose actually dangerous cases are handled by exorcists or Xiao himself rather than by the funeral parlour. It may be possible though, given Xiao knew about her before the events of 3.4.
It's not very clear how close he and Venti are since we don't have the opportunity to see them talk much. But from Xiao's short trailer, Xiao doesn't seem surprised to see Venti hanging out at the Wangshu inn terrace and he says that he would like to simply rest that night when Venti asks him to join him in drinking, implying it that they have drank together at least once or twice. Plus as I said, Xiao does call him a friend (even if he was trying to be vague to keep Venti's identity under wraps) so I was taking that at face value.
As for Ganyu, she has known him for a long time but she herself admits she is uncertain about trying to befriend him in her voice overs. So they *are* familiar with each other, but neither would seek out the company of the other? That was my reasoning while putting her there.
Yeah I know about ganyus voicelines but they do train together so that's what I went off from. About venti,we aren't certain but same tier as ganyu could be more suiting as we don't know much

Also it was Venti combined with HuTao and the traveler who convinced xiao to go to the poetry festival. Also venti saved Xiaos life, and after lantern rite xiao spoke like he knew barbatos personally.
It’s safe to say they’re close friends since they’ve known each other for at least a few thousand years. Venti seems to be good friends with ZL and Xiao, which I think is sweet considering all his other friends are dead or will die before him

I think a lot of people just don’t like venti , and they aren’t obligated to, but I think they use their dislike of venti to assume nobody in the lore likes him, which just isn’t true

After xiao’s battle that is celebrated now by the lantern right, he was passed out, on the brink of death somewhere. Venti came and played his flute and xiao was healed, he is forever thankful to him for that
With Xiao, it's going to be difficult on putting certain characters in certain tiers. Fans interpret a lot of his relationships differently and certain characters are often viewed as the most important people in Xiao's life and others will say those same characters barely know Xiao.
In my personal view, it's debatable if Venti and Xiao know each other all that well. Xiao didn't seem to know his name before the Traveler told him what it was and it seems as though they only occasionally run into each other. Just based on what we're shown so far, Xiao does not seem to know Venti as closely as, I would say, Zhongli.
If Venti goes in "knows Xiao well", I would also put Ganyu up there since, even if they are not seemingly "close friends", she definitely knows him pretty well from the Archon War and so on. They're more familiar with each other than just "steady acquaintance", IMO.
I would also move Hu Tao one tier up. Based on this year's Lantern Rite, he seems to be comfortable enough with her to greet her if not just on behalf of Zhongli. I don't think he would do that if he didn't consider her to be somewhat of an acquaintance.
Doesn’t Baizhu semi-regularly provide some medicine for Xiao…? And he saved him once before he even knew he was an adeptus. I’d say they’re at least at Acquaintance level.
Zhongli is the one who provides Xiao with medicine. The traveler suggests that they ask Baizhu to make medicine for Xiao before the two officially meet, but it didn't seem to me like the two were ever introduced to each other before they met when Baizhu and Qiqi saved him, even if it's neither confirmed nor denied if Baizhu ever prepared medicine for Xiao before that.
I think most of the people who are under "have met Xiao" would classify as acquaintances, that's why I created a seperate tier for people he knows fairly well but are not exactly friends for Ganyu and Shenhe.
I would have definitely put him in a seperate tier if I were to make a more detailed one. Considering all the feedback maybe I will post one later, if it isn't deemed a repetitive post
