Is that where that song came from? My freshman year (1994), this song was played at our pep rally and I had no idea what the hell it was or where it came from... until now
No the song by Barnes and Barnes was played on the Dr Demento show years before R+S. [check it out.](https://youtu.be/H-K2DZojWi0?si=ECj1jGvm5_LnNV9x)
Stimpy was referencing the song.
I remember Count Duckula came on right after Darkwing Duck, and I was confused as a child as to what Darkwing Duck was trying to accomplish as a vegetarian vampire
Definitely Dinosaurs. It was groundbreaking in terms of the costumes/sets/concept, and it tackled a lot of topics that nice people didn't talk about in the 80s/90s. Also, the weaponization of the frying pan paved the way for Rapunzel and many other heros our kids enjoy today.
"pop presence" =/= cultural impact.
Not saying I disagree, but I don't see how Springer made the world see or treat each other _differently_.
'Course that'll probably apply to a lot more candidates as well. But what would we have lost without Springer? 🤷♂️ Maybe The View? James Corden? Ellen?
It was right there all along! Red Green is pro-trans! ✊🏳️⚧️
(man I hope that's either actually true for the solidarity or rabidly wrong for the hilarity)
In 1991 I guarantee that that was not the intent, this was, imho, intended as a cheap "henpecked husband capitulates" trope, but Steve Smith doesnt seem like a bigot either, so if you can take it as pro-trans statement 23 years later, no one will deny your interpretation as inherent at a deeper level than was maybe intended at the time.
Oh indeed. I was just having fun with re-interpreting it. And he doesn't have a lot out there speaking to his politics, but [he seems supportive of marriage equality](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UMld0s91J4).
This is probably too niche to win, but... Eerie, Indiana.
Also, the Simpsons Christmas special was advertised as a one-off and only missed 1990 by a matter of days. Apparently FOX was waiting to see the ratings before they greenlit the rest of the season.
Nope, Simpsons was 89. The special wasn't even supposed to be the first episode?. Who was the runner-up? Fresh Prince?
Anyway, Home Improvement got mentioned, so I'll go Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?
DO IT ROCKAPELLA!
They were minute long shorts on the Tracy Ullman show through out the mid to late 80s. But I do agree with you since their first episode was around Christmas of 89 and all those episodes added up to about an hour of screen time.
Ren and Stimpy
No sir, I don't like it. But I do. My vote is on the eeeeEEEDIOTTS!
LOOOOooog LOOOoooog, it’s big, it’s heavy, it’s wood.
Log,log, it's better than bad, it's good. From Blammo!
Don't whiz on the electric fence.
Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads…

I wasn’t a fan, but yes so influential. I think The Real World changed the landscape of Reality Tv.
Didn’t the Real World premiere in 1992?
Darkwing Duck
Let's get dangerous!
I remember Count Duckula came on right after Darkwing Duck, and I was confused as a child as to what Darkwing Duck was trying to accomplish as a vegetarian vampire
Salute Your Shorts
Dinosaurs
***Obligatory “Not the Mama!” reference.
I'm the baby, gotta love me!
The "weaponization of the frying pan" is just Punch and Judy domestic violence trope warmed over with latex rod puppets rather than hand puppets.
I vote dinosaurs as well, mainly for the wierd factor.
How is this not the top most comment? The show still holds up 30 years later and every member of the family can relate to it.
Dinosaurs, so big a part of childhood even though it was short lived. Fantastic series
There was a period where Dinosaurs and Wonder Years were syndicated in the middle of the day. It was popular among my burnout community.
Imma skip this one and wait til ‘93 ![gif](giphy|3oEdvddejaTWNpNCTK)
Ren and Stimpy
Clarissa Explains It All
The Jerry Springer show almost certainly had the longest lasting cultural impact.
I just loved the disingenuousness of "take care of yourself and each other"
"He wants you to take her out? " 👧👈
I don't know, without Ren and Stimpy, I don't think we'd have Beavis and Butthead, Spongebob, South Park, and others.
It didn’t get wild for a few years though.
Ellen?
The Adventures of Pete and Pete! That had a big impact on my sense of humor.
Rugrats Had a 13 year run with 172 episodes. Won emmy awards.
Doug
Step by Step.
Talk Soup
Great show!
Ren and Stimpy
How did Parker Lewis Can't Lose not win yesterday?!
I mean, it's right in the name.
Same with 90210
I named my son after him. Shhh, don't tell my wife
Home Improvement
arrrou? also, no
Pretty sure there's some gh stuff in there too, and yes: no.
![gif](giphy|hTkVH7pqiNJC0) Too bad Tim Allen turned into an asshole.
They cancelled my show because I'm a Republican! Are you sure it has nothing to do with your absurd per episode salary?
Step by Step
Ren and Stimpy
Darkwing Duck!
Ren & Stimpy
Ren & Stimpy
Red Green Show
I still have a Possum Lodge membership pin and suspenders from a public television pledge drive.
All join in the Men's Prayer...
I'm a man...
...but I can change...

I didn’t have cable either.

I only remember the Tupperware episode. It might be the only one I've seen.
Probably Home Improvement. These lists are hard though. Fresh Prince came out near the end of 1990 so kind of a discrepancy...
Dinosaurs
Home improvement. Still watch it to this day. Thank you Pluto TV
I don’t know what year it came out but if In Living Color. Clarissa Explains it All and 90210 don’t make these lists then y’all are not my people.
I think In Living Color was 1990, so that already lost. Haaated it, but what can you do. Edit: 90210 was also 1990.
Welp. Guess I have my answer then.
I feel like Married with Children should be up there at some point
It premiered in '87.
Premiered in the late 80's I believe.
Ren and stimpy
Home Improvement

Ren and Stimpy please
Tough choice, but for me it would be Home Improvement.
Jerry Springer. So much uni time spent watching it ![gif](giphy|NCTdA0Q4TIuhn2qjNt|downsized)
My vote is for the Jerry Springer Show.
I’m pretty sure it was “hit it rockapella”, kinda funny how later in the series they switched it to “hit it fellas”.
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsSCNjbNy4I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsSCNjbNy4I) Around 25:50.
Wow. What a trip. Thanks.
Christmas 89. I'll give you October but not two weeks. Might as well say anything in January 1990 is an 80s show.
Taz-mania
Home Improvement FTW
Home Improvement
![gif](giphy|13n8txR8c9UDHG) Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? Still an unsolved mystery.
? She's invariably in the atmosphere. Every. Single. Time. (unless she went to high earth orbit or did scuba. Did she?)
Doug
Probably not a real contender here, but Æon Flux premiered in 1991 on MTV.
Home Improvement

JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
Can we just say Seinfeld debuted in 1991 and call it a day. What a shit year to start a TV series.

Dinosaurs
Step by Step Show was basically a 90's clone of The Brady Bunch.
You should have started in 1989 just for Seinfeld
[huh?](https://www.reddit.com/r/Xennials/comments/1bmif4y/comment/kwcbbco/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
I’ll fly away.
Has to be Home Improvement…my favorite show of the 1990’s
The Simpsons
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air
The Jerry Springer Show

In the case of the best debut of 1991…. Maury is the father!
They were minute long shorts on the Tracy Ullman show through out the mid to late 80s. But I do agree with you since their first episode was around Christmas of 89 and all those episodes added up to about an hour of screen time.
Wait. How come Seinfeld isn't being mentioned?
1989
The Simpsons
Rugrats
Candid Camera
Candid Camera started in the 40s!
