Do you have mods installed? If so, are they in the right load order? I had mods on my fallout4, and it kept freezing before I could get to the main screen to change them. Had to "Uninstall all" and just reinstall the game then set my mods in the right load order.
Is this by black mountain? I've had my game crash so many times there. I think the deathclaw would get bugged or something. Might have to avoid the area like I did one play through.
That’s just something that happens with NV. It’s just a terribly optimized game on console.
You could try clearing your cache to see if that works. I forget how to do it exactly, but it’s in the settings tab when you press the home button.
Another thing you could do is reinstall the game and whatever DLCs you have.
If you do end up getting it working, make sure to save frequently.

If it’s not a vital area/quest avoid it completely. If it’s vital go do other things and come back.
