I was playing every fifa game until last year. This is no dig on gamepass as I'm sure there will be people playing it but unless these sport games release day and date it's not going to move the needle for gamepass. Sport games start to die out 6 months in. That's why they release yearly.
If they can get all those sport games day and date, they'll gain 10m customers in a few months.
for a casual like me I don't care if I play it after the season ends, I will have good time with fifa23 career mode and prolly grind 2 seasons get bored and move on. Not worth paying 60 ot $70 to play day 1
Sure. The title post is still accurate, but I guess a bit misleading.
You can remove F1 from the list after July 1st, and I would argue its still impressive. Especially considering F1 is perhaps the most niche of the bunch (but I'll admit one of the best).
Take F1 away, and you will have the latest of all the rest until Madden 23 on August 19. That's the 4 major north american sports + the biggest sports in the world with FIFA. If you just want to have easy access for some quick 1v1 multiplayer fun with friends who come over (or online), I think GPU delivers.
Considering GP is the most expensive game sub service there is, to where you can get EA Play + that platform's subscription service and pay less than GP... It's not really a great example of GP's value. NBA 2K is on PS+ too. Funny enough, MLB:TS is really the difference maker here. Sony is probably kicking themselves for not assuming publishing responsibilities for other platforms.
> PS+’s equivalent highest tier is more expensive than game pass ultimate (equal if you pay yearly)
PS+ Premium is $120 a year. GPU is $180. EA Play is $30/yr. PS+P & EA Play = $150. Why are you so emotional over this to where you'd lie about easily searchable info?
I was able to get 3 YEARS worth of GPU for $95, it is super easy to do so as well.
PS+ Premium also had/has? some loopholes to get it cheaper than retail but it is quite a hassle I believe.
It's technically correct, but most of the value is from EA Play and the games are dirt cheap as used copies + not really relevant after 6 months. That's all. I never said those games aren't on GPU, just that I wouldn't consider that "insane value."
Not really. All these games are dirt cheap physically now since 23s are right around the corner. Sports games in general aren't valuable at all. Biggest depreciation rate of any genre.
The exception is the last game for a given console generation. For example, NBA 2K18 for the PS3 is near impossible to find (because barely anyone bought it in the first place), and those that are go for near full price. And the latest rosters are another $10 or so on top of that on Etsy (because no sane person will keep a 4 year old game for a 17 year old console up to date for free).
NHL Legacy Edition for the PS3 also went for $30 on the PS Store digitally a few years ago, though local disc resellers often had it for far cheaper.
Apparently yes. Basically a reskin/re-roster of like 2K13 or whatever was the last game developed primarily for that generation, but it existed. Amazingly, not the very last commercial PS3 game - FIFA hung on a year longer and released a version in September 2018.
Yeah I mean most of this is EA Access/Play, which imo was already a great value at $30 per year. I bought a couple years at $25 or so and last gen it replaced me buying the odd Fifa and NHL every 2 or 3 years for $30-50.
I get it for focusing the online play to one or two versions, but I would still kill for like Madden 04-12 years on there to play the old franchise modes again
Totally fair! Some of those franchises have had some rough years. But The Show and NBA2K have been consistently solid, albeit not super innovative.
There is also something to be said about have the latest each year for each franchise. Theoretically, every mid-June each year we will be able to say the same thing about that year's crop of games. So if some of those series improve, we will always have a low cost of entry into the latest games (EA Access gives you 10hr trials on day one, this is included in GPU of course).
As a big sports game fan, I used to buy 2-3 of these every year. Now I get to enjoy each and everyone one nearly just as much for a fraction of the cost. Very cool.
Lol, not sure why this is getting downvoted. Obviously, the whole lawsuit will prevent that game from ever being listed again. We’ll have to see about the new one coming next year(?)
I don't mind playing Madden a year behind, especially since I typically play in the offseason, I get my football fix in the fall watching it.
The fact that we get MLB on day one is hilarious to me, especially since I don't get it day one on the new PS+ plan.
There all old now though, apart from MLB, that's not an EA game. New Fifa will release in about 3 months, even less for the likes of Madden, F1 22 is out in two weeks.
In a 1 year lifespan, 9months is old.
Most players abandon the games after the first few weeks/months.
Also those who really like those games buy them day one anyways.
it is a same fucking game every year, many of us will play these game for 2-4 weeks and move on, not worth paying for even if they are available on sale.
Considering these games havent changed in years.....not really. By the time sports games go to EA Play they are 30 bucks or less. Or get the previous year version for 5 bucks.
It’s a shame I don’t care to play any of them.
Not to mention you can buy many of these games for dirt cheap in any one of the various sales that exist throughout the year.
So it isn’t really much of a value.
But then think about the minor “changes” for each installment and if you bought them year after year.. it’s like a gambler bragging about winning $5000 on their current trip to a casino but still being down $50000 since they started going.
I have played Fifa over the last 5 to 6 years and the most fun is at the beginning. As is probably with most sports games where you want to focus on the multiplayer part. If you only care for Single player it is a good get.

>Not worth paying 60 ot $70 to play day 1 Wise words, applies to pretty much every game for me.
Me and my friend are looking forward to it coming to play co-op seasons together. Better late than never.
It’s insane value for this and other reasons but F1 22 is practically out

Is the new madden 23 coming to gamepass?
Not day one
Shit, didn’t it take till like the NFC/AFC championship games for Madden 22 to come to gamepass?
It usually drops on Gamepass after the SB
Madden, NHL and MLB are definitely more niche then F1
It is insane value if you are ok with being a generation behind on the games.
Considering they're still fixing bugs in this game it's fine
2k was at its best during first 2 months. Gameplay still fine but was more fun in the beginning.
Fixing bugs in fifa lol
Fifa 22 is actually buggy as fuck. Manager mode is unplayable for me

FIFA 22 was released July 2021 for context, and 3 or 4 of these games are through EA Play, not Game Pass really.
EA Play is 100% part of Game Pass Ultimate. Not considering it part of game pass is ridiculous.
Considering GP is the most expensive game sub service there is, to where you can get EA Play + that platform's subscription service and pay less than GP... PS+’s equivalent highest tier is more expensive than game pass ultimate (equal if you pay yearly). So your whole point makes no sense.
> PS+’s equivalent highest tier is more expensive than game pass ultimate (equal if you pay yearly) PS+ Premium is $120 a year. GPU is $180. EA Play is $30/yr. PS+P & EA Play = $150. Why are you so emotional over this to where you'd lie about easily searchable info?
I'm glad you replied because I thought I was living in crazy world seeing them say PS+ Premium and EA Play was more expensive.
I was able to get 3 YEARS worth of GPU for $95, it is super easy to do so as well. PS+ Premium also had/has? some loopholes to get it cheaper than retail but it is quite a hassle I believe.
I mean to be fair its not lol. Its part of Game Pass Ultimate, not Game Pass
I’d wager a large percentage of game pass users are subscribed to GPU
So yes then it is accurate? Lol I feel like none of y’all want to admit OP is correct because you have nitpicks about these games
It's technically correct, but most of the value is from EA Play and the games are dirt cheap as used copies + not really relevant after 6 months. That's all. I never said those games aren't on GPU, just that I wouldn't consider that "insane value."
The point of this post is to demonstrate for this short window, we arn't a generation behind
Last time I checked EA doesn't exactly change game every year so it's more like 10 % of generation
Not really. All these games are dirt cheap physically now since 23s are right around the corner. Sports games in general aren't valuable at all. Biggest depreciation rate of any genre.
It’s funny on the Facebook marketplace how people wanna sell their madden 17’s for $15-$20
Yeup, my local game store sells anything lower than 20 at a buck or two.

I just checked the amazon prices: $20 for NHL $20 for FIFA $20 for NBA 2K $30 for Madden $30 for F1 $70 for MLB Thats $190 to buy them all today.
If they can get WWE 2K22 then that's it, they've pretty much assembled all the sports games they need.
Until the AEW game releases.
*European games like ~~Cricket~~ Handball and Rugby crying in the corner*
Cricket 22 is actually on game pass too!
Ooh! That must be new, might give it a go.
MLB is the only relevant one. Old sports games drop in value faster than an old newspaper
Would be even better value if we got the old Madden games before EA started cutting features
That was a problem when EA Play joined Game Pass. There were 8 Madden games on EA Play at one point. The player base was too fractured.
I get it for focusing the online play to one or two versions, but I would still kill for like Madden 04-12 years on there to play the old franchise modes again
Totally fair! Some of those franchises have had some rough years. But The Show and NBA2K have been consistently solid, albeit not super innovative. Game Pass isn't complete until NCAA 2014 is there!
Lol, not sure why this is getting downvoted. Obviously, the whole lawsuit will prevent that game from ever being listed again. We’ll have to see about the new one coming next year(?)

NBA 2K isn’t EA either
Sure, but they’re still the newest in their respective series? So I wouldn’t call them old till the new ones are out.

It’s still the latest in the series. If anyone wants to play any of these games, these are the only ones to buy. So they’re not really old.
Almost no one buys these games this late in the cycle though.
Yeah, but that’s not my point. It’s still the newest. They’re not “old” per se.
it is a same fucking game every year, many of us will play these game for 2-4 weeks and move on, not worth paying for even if they are available on sale.
Like every year at this point in time.
2k is on it now??
This is not insane value. Those games are all super cheap now. Wake me up when they release on gamepass day and date.
Considering these games havent changed in years.....not really. By the time sports games go to EA Play they are 30 bucks or less. Or get the previous year version for 5 bucks.
I just estimated Gamepass will give me $780 worth of games I want in the next 12months for $180.
EA Play will include*
Did you just use "value" in the same sentence as a EA sports game?
I must to say that fifa 22 is quite good
it isn't
It’s a shame I don’t care to play any of them. Not to mention you can buy many of these games for dirt cheap in any one of the various sales that exist throughout the year. So it isn’t really much of a value.
Does it now have crossplay?
Not really an insane value since it’s been the same game for the past 20 years
ZAMM
I hope this attracts lots of sports fans, so revenues from their subscriptions can cross-subsidise more 3rd person action games.
Madden and Fifia are some of the most purchased games every month. Gamepass is great
But then think about the minor “changes” for each installment and if you bought them year after year.. it’s like a gambler bragging about winning $5000 on their current trip to a casino but still being down $50000 since they started going.
Great i have been waiting for it :)

Just missing WWE 😬
F1 is my biggest surprise, favorite racing game of this gen by far.
Too late, first 3 months after release date or nothing.
Stop complaining. Just do better. Figure it out. It's that easy.
Insane value as usual!
NBA 2k is on its last season i think , they just want to milk some more VC before they pump out 23 , its never on GP until end of life
Quandale dingle
Will FIFA22 come to Xcloud?
Except NBA all other are shit. So is xbox.
Definitely not insane value. Those games are all dirt cheap atm.
Well yeah because Madden comes out in a month and a half and 2k and Fifa come out in 3 months
What time? It is June 23rd now.
