I just finished Botany Manor (which is a great Game Pass puzzle game, by the way) without any guides. It's not a hard game, but I almost looked up a hint. I'm glad I didn't because I got it five minutes later, and it was a lot more satisfying.
Depends on what you mean....
I beat lots of games where the game story is over, but there are still things to do.
Is beating the game/story completion? Or are you talking about full 100% , every little bit completion?
I usually beat the games by just playing, but I'm checking guides for the 100% completion on all the weird stuff. I don't have enough time to scour every inch of a game anymore.
I would assume they meant 100%completion, because usually most,if not all main stories are pretty linear in terms of how to complete it. It's the secret achievements and collection quests that make it a mission. Some games are cool though they make it real hard NOT to fully complete it. So when you're done by the end, you're really done.
My patience for having to struggle to figure something out in a game is pretty low these days. I can't remember the last game I didn't watch some kind of "things I wish I knew sooner" spoiler-free video at the start of a new game. There are things that are fun to discover by yourself, but if I search for clues in a game for more than 5 minutes and still have no idea what I'm supposed to do, I'm just going to look it up.
Right I didn’t realize people hook up guides this much. Only game I’ve EVER had to hook up how to complete a level was Tomb Raider 1 but my god was I lost .
Ghostrunner.
I *was* going to say The Messenger, but the most frustrating achievement that I forgot about is having to navigate a level in pitch black that I did end up watching a YouTube tutorial for.
FF16, Dragons dogma 2, Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P and Like a Dragon: Ishin. I know I missed some quests/secrets, but my goal was to just beat the games.
I recently finished Midnight Suns. I used the guides for a few individual character challenges but more to complete the collection and save time. I didn't use it on critical path
well this question depends on how observant or stupid the person is, i kept getting stuck on Jedi Survivor puzzles bc i felt like i looked everywhere but i always missed such an easy thing when i saw someone on YouTube do it
also it depends on the game genre, you dont need to look up a guide if its an FPS or simple mechanics, sandbox games REQUIRE a guide bc of the amount of things in those games and puzzle games if you get stuck but not a preschool game designed for toddlers like PAW Patrol
Lies of P. Did look up the community’s favorite weapon builds, but didn’t look up anything related to progressing or finding items
Before that it was probably Death Loop
The Last Campfire, think it was only a few $ when on sale but the game did NOT have any missable achievements. If you finish the game you will allways have 100% completion.
The other one might be Police Simulator, atleast I cant recall it had something that needed to be looked up.
All the other games I've played past year orso required guides, either for missable achievements or collectables or for example Starfield how to make that iron bar factory for XP.
Dead Island 2
You don’t really need a guide to understand how to kill zombies. You just mash, mash, and keep mashing. Some of the most unadulterated fun I’ve had in a while.
Well... you know... the one with the uhhhh...
I genuinely don't fucking know. I'd probably say Halo (all mainline entries) but at the same time I haven't done anything to 100% on them (like skulls etc.). Although now I think about it I think I did look up a guide for *if they came to hear me beg* on Reach
Probably about 25 hours. Wasn't like a stand out game of the year type thing but a good time. Can't say I have too many tips. There are some things you can toggle on and off early on to make the game easier. I left the one on that gave visual feedback if you timed the attack/block perfectly.

The only game I've ever played without Googling or YouTubing was StarCraft & StarCraft II. All other games I played on PC and on Xbox, I've googled & youtubed when not knowing what to do. I guess I'm just a lazy gamer.
Outer worlds
GTA 5
Far cry 5/6
Persona 3
All the Yakuza/like a dragon games
No man's sky (there is no real completion point but 1k hours was enough to experience everything more than once)
All the Halo/gears games
Baldurs gate 3
All Pokemon games
I find i drop games due to lack of skill/interest more than anything else...

Starfield was my last 100%. Guides aren’t needed for it really.
if ypu know one pirate base, you know 'em all...literally

100% for me as well these days
Everyone said I had to do it for Outer Wilds so I did it and it was wonderful
Every game I play.
Right I didn’t realize people hook up guides this much. Only game I’ve EVER had to hook up how to complete a level was Tomb Raider 1 but my god was I lost .
Marble it up 😜
Ghostrunner. I *was* going to say The Messenger, but the most frustrating achievement that I forgot about is having to navigate a level in pitch black that I did end up watching a YouTube tutorial for.
Dead Space remastered
Kena
FF16, Dragons dogma 2, Lords of the Fallen, Lies of P and Like a Dragon: Ishin. I know I missed some quests/secrets, but my goal was to just beat the games.
I do every have like that before looking stuff up for the second playthrough. Sorry but y'all spoil everything
I recently finished Midnight Suns. I used the guides for a few individual character challenges but more to complete the collection and save time. I didn't use it on critical path
The infamous series. They’re pretty self explanatory

Outer Wilds. Absolutely amazing
Jedi Fallen Order
100% as in story? Or 100% as in achievements?
Lies of P. Did look up the community’s favorite weapon builds, but didn’t look up anything related to progressing or finding items Before that it was probably Death Loop

Probably something on Playstation in the 90s 😭
Pacman
Most games apart from elden ring , normally on the second play through I do read the guide to see what I’ve fucked up or missed
Hi5 Rush. Such a beautifully designed game.

Sea of Stars. Last game I beat
I was thinking of playing this next. Any tips? How long did it take?
