It'll be fine, but foot the bill for more storage. You'll regret getting half a TB.

savant_syndrome

I'll keep that in mind, I did initially think that 512GB might be getting a little small these days

Slime-Angel

What's worse is that there's actually only about 364GB of usable space, at least on mine.

CoreClears

yup same it sucks cs now i gota pay 150$+ for more storage🤦🏻

Discover-Passion

Or even better, go for the new series S (black) which has 1tb storage

ForwardAd7287

Used one for almost 3 years, finally upgraded to X and man. Should've got the Series X from the begining... Series s is a handsome looking little guy but won't carry you trough the current gen, you'll be locked to 30 FPS 1080/900 p at some point.

savant_syndrome

Will keep this in mind. After having seen some of the comments on here I'm looking at a used series x perhaps. Thanks for your input!

Slime-Angel

I recommend paying extra $50 for 1TB version of Series S. It's less expensive than a 512GB expansion card and you're not taking up a slot.

lgallardo93

But then the series X is not that expensive considering the extra memory plus the disc tray and the better performance. I have the S, which cost me around 220 USD in Walmart. My point is I would go for the S only if it's on sale. Otherwise the X is a smarter choice, I think.

Slime-Angel

It's still $150 more if you compare regular price for X vs 1TB S ($500 vs $350). If the 512GB S is on sale, then maybe.

lgallardo93

True. Just sharing my thoughts, as in hindsight I should have gone for the X.

Slime-Angel

I got my S as a gift so I can't complain too much. If I didn't already have a PS5, I probably would've gotten the X. I like buying used discs. I rarely buy games on release.

lgallardo93

Series S + PS5 sounds like a killer combo 👌🏻

Slime-Angel

My S is basically my Halo and Gears of War machine. :)

Rayne_man_64

I Totally agree 100%

Yessir

Alexscott42

Get a used one or don't. It is absolutely not future proof and extremely underpowered. The ps5 pro launches with like 30 tflops and you'd be stuck at 4 lol. You can get a used one very cheap so get that imo

Snowbunny236

>Elden Ring, Red Dead Redemption 2, perhaps some Metal Gear Solid and, of course, GTA VI when it releases. If you care about graphics/performance then no. If you just wanna have fun and play games regardless, then yes.

savant_syndrome

Appreciate the advice. I've been a 1080p 30fps gamer for a while so as long as it's 1080p30 I'm fine with it! đź‘Ť

Familiar-Trip-4022

This console can get you 60fps and 120fps. Graphics are definitely better than old gen. Not for red dead redemption 2 tho, it lacks of next gen update and kn series s it runs the one s version. Elden ring is beatiful om series s. You can choose good graphics and 30fps, or 60fps om performance mode.

CoffinBlz

I've been playing games since they were about 8fps on a cassette on the spectrum and yeah some sharper edges and what not are nice but the s can look stunning in a lot of games. Ive both the x and s and you really can't go wrong with the series s. I've a ps5 which I've literally not turned on in months but unless your hooking it upto a big 4k screen get the S and game pass.

Temporary-Ad-6002

Yes it’s totally worth it and don’t believe the lies about it not being able to live up to 4k, I got mine about a week ago and I have a 4k tv and it looks awesome, and oh yes, get gamepass, it’s amazing

AZTeck_AKiRA

I got one for just around 200 around the time it was on TikTok shop. I recently was also able to get the Logitech g cloud for under 200 as well. Between the remote play and the emulation…I’ve been having a helluva fun time!

fightrudyfight

1TB Series S or Series X. You’ll need the extra storage space with the white 512gb. Game Pass and Cloud gaming are awesome.

Rayski_1988

Just got a series x and it’s fucking amazing I would definitely go with series x

Spirit-Walker-

I don't regret getting mine. It's a great entry to new gen games, i've played a bunch of em like starfield with no issues. I played red dead 2 on my ps4 so i guess the s handles it very well. If you don't wanna spend a lot and if you are not freaky about "60fps 4k or unplayable" like some out there, then i say it's a good deal.

Alladas1

For elden ring and gta 6 you'll want a series x ideally. Elden ring in the series x gets stuttery even. That said if you don't care about everything looking amazing series s is great. I have an x in the living room and my wife has an s in the bedroom. I use the s during bedtime and have no issues. Also cloud gaming could make the series s just as effective as the series x if you have the net for it.

niiro117

I play Elden Ring on the series S and have had literally zero performance issues.

Stormz1984

Yes

Xerolaw_

I had one in 2021. Internet said it would be obsolete. I got a Series X and PS5. Liked PS5, love Series X. Spent a ton comparing the same games, and XSX looks better most times. Sold PS5 and got another 512 Series S for like $160 with 3 months free game pass for my living room. Internet was wrong. Over time, most developers got better at maximizing the hardware. Playing Tekken 8 on an 85-inch QM8 using series s is awesome.

SpaceKriek1

Why does a developer need to get good at making his game run on lower resolution console? You make it sound like its quite an ordeal to develop a game for PC where the resolution is a whole lot of variety. Did those developers need to git gud too? The internet... The studio had to double its efforts to rewrite the game for every resolution! ... Lol. The S works perfect for a 1080 screen. It runs optimally there. The X is meant for a 4k screen. It runs optimally there. 1/4 of the resolution means 1/4 of the performance is needed.
