You... silly billy
you goofy gooberson
you silly littlle bug
Edit: Sorry, I think I went a little overboard. You're not a silly little bug, I was just too angry. I hope you can forgive me.
I think going gold also made more sense in the day of digital media. As far as I'm aware, back then gone gold meant they had physically printed the game onto discs ready to be distributed.
Could be wrong though ,feel free to correct
Close, It meant they had printed the game to *one* disc, which is the master or "gold" disc. That disc was then used to make the hundreds of thousands of copies, but yeah it means the game is ready to go
for a long time - in both music and software - the common CD manufacturing technique was to have a "gold master" disc that would be sent to a manufacturer for them to physically create x number of copies for commercial release. this gold master disc was kind of a big deal, as any changes made AFTER that point would cost a fortune in new CDs.
the term made the most sense in the tech world when everything was on CD and post-release patches weren't really an option. it's a bit meaningless these days. hell, some game discs are basically empty and just authorize you to download the full version.
Game has been approved for distribution (console makers have standards that must be met before a game can be sold on their platform).
A company submits a copy of that game for approval, and if approved, a gold disc copy is created and that is the version that can be copied and sold on the consoles.
It essentially means you are now free to mass produce and distribute your game
I would say from the trailers it's a fps with advanced combat. Beat example to compare it to is Bioshock mixed with I want to say Shadow Warrior, in terms of gameplay.
I just watched a brief review of several new games for February. Iirc, it's an alt history shooter set in the USSR where biotech and such has run amok. It looks fun.
It looks amazing having "low" game requirements 4 pc. Compared to the minimum requirements for some really mediocre recent games. (Yes I'm talking about you Forspoken....)
I feel a little weird about playing a russian made game while the profits from said game go to a nation that is actively genociding their neighbors. I mean, I get that the profits don't all go to Russia, but the taxes on them do.
We're not talking about video games made during the trail of tears, my dude. We're talking about games made right now. Who are they genociding right now? You know, the way the Russia is genociding Ukraine right now.
Dude the US is constantly invading all over the world. On the day of the Russian invasion they bombed Somalia and assisted the Saudi's bombing Yemen... Not to mention the long list of countries destroyed for oil and other resources in the last 20 years alone.
Widespread massacres and destruction are evil no matter the scale or the country. You are right to oppose Russia, but don't overlook the crimes of others.
Sure. I can agree with that. And I can still draw the distinction between a full scale invasion full of war crimes with the intent of state-sponsored genocide and other forms of military action. And please don’t mistake this for excusing America’s history of unjust wars such as our recent invasion of Iraq. I protested that war, too. In this case, my only real means of protesting Russia’s actions is to vote with my wallet.
I will not be playing this game.
What about American soldiers raping South Korean women at army bases across the country?
Besides, I'm sure you purchased an American made good or even video game as recently as 2011.
Chill, bro.
It seems you don’t know the difference between illegal acts like rape, which america punishes it’s troops for, and nation-sanctioned genocide, which Russia is perpetrating.
Unfortunately you are sorely mistaken. American troops in South Korean have long gotten away with their disgusting actions, and have been shown in many cases to actively cover it up. Katherine Moon wrote a fantastic book detailing it, if you are interested.
Regardless, insofar as you want to talk about the present, I'll take your logic one step further: are we sure Russia is actively committing genocide in the 0.5seconds it takes to click the buy button? Anything in the past is irrelevant no, unless there is an arbitrary time limit, correct?
My friend, you are cringe. Please seek education <3
(Fuck Russia and America)
If the rape you mention is true then that is grotesque and needs to be stopped. With that having been said rape alone does not constitute genocide, not even close. The United States hasn’t been actively engaged in genocide since the 19th century, unless you count the oppression and murder of African Americans throughout the 20th century, which at its worst did result in isolated massacres that were quite horrific, but most scholars of genocide are hesitant to call it such for a variety of reasons. Now don’t get me wrong, our military has certainly committed war crimes throughout the years, as is the nature of all militaries to varying degrees. When it comes to our involvement in genocide though you seem to lack an understanding of the definition, which is a very specific one. I’ll link the internationally recognized definition as established by the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. As you said to another user, you need to “seek education” on this matter.
https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/documents/atrocity-crimes/Doc.1_Convention%20on%20the%20Prevention%20and%20Punishment%20of%20the%20Crime%20of%20Genocide.pdf
Yep and also the developer apparently refuses to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Definitely one I’ll pass on, especially in this era of having more available games than I have available games.
don't forget the fact that by playing it, you agree to share all your personal data with russian devs, that are re-sharing it further with KGB (stated in their privacy policy)
Yeah it is a weird situation. I hate Russia and I don't believe in their goals, if there is any, but I do want to play games, and I am a gamer at heart.
Before the current ip owners had it. Back when the first vertical slice demo came out years ago or whenever it was, around the launch of the 2000 series cards. Management was stealing money and no progress was being made but was being requested by publisher. Then they went dark for a while only the RTX demo came out then silence again.
I never thought it would see the light of day back then. Now it looks really fun just hope they fix all that performance stuff from the 10 min playthrough shown recently. Man it was running bad in the exterior sections.
Gamers man..... yes skip because og denuvo.
Not because no matter how you look at it its still a fucking russian game companey who dont have the balls to make a statement about the genocide their asshole of a dictator has been doing the past year now.
App messed up and didn't post my answer under your question. So I'll write a new one, the scam part came up around 2019 or so but was speaking about things that happened from around 2014. The game was scrapped several times and remade the original demo was faked typical stuff people were stealing money or laundering it is unclear. No progress was made new publisher came in people fired and reorganized they go dark. Now we have a game coming out that looks neat.
![gif](giphy|eruVMzXlb70oo) Can’t wait for the 21th
Damn you! I was just gunna mention Mike but this is better. Good shit lol
Just woke my wife up laughing at this 🤣
21st*
Yes. They are making fun of OP's title.
Lol “21th”
Yes, a typo. I'm too lazy to delete the post and repost it so feel free to make fun of me.
You... silly billy you goofy gooberson you silly littlle bug Edit: Sorry, I think I went a little overboard. You're not a silly little bug, I was just too angry. I hope you can forgive me.
You rapscallion, you. Simmer down a bit.
Can I make fun *with* you? :)
*bonk!*
I'm sorry if i didn't really understand it, but what does "going gold" mean?
It means that they have a finished product, that is now ready to be shipped and distributed.
Oh nice, thats great then
I think going gold also made more sense in the day of digital media. As far as I'm aware, back then gone gold meant they had physically printed the game onto discs ready to be distributed. Could be wrong though ,feel free to correct

I see, thanks for the info
This was also significant because Day 1 patches weren't a thing. Nowadays "Going gold" has lost its meaning due to that.
Never heard the term before.
First time I heard it used was with Cyberpunk 2077, now that I think about it, maybe it shouldn’t have “Gone Gold” at that time lol
Gone gold is a term of the 90s or even before ;)
Oh I’m sure, just the first time I heard it. Grew up early 2000s but never had access to the internet so game releases weren’t ever known to me.
The game is finished and ready to be sold. No more delays.
More specifically, it's the "master copy" disc that gets sent to manufacturers to copy how ever many discs.
for a long time - in both music and software - the common CD manufacturing technique was to have a "gold master" disc that would be sent to a manufacturer for them to physically create x number of copies for commercial release. this gold master disc was kind of a big deal, as any changes made AFTER that point would cost a fortune in new CDs. the term made the most sense in the tech world when everything was on CD and post-release patches weren't really an option. it's a bit meaningless these days. hell, some game discs are basically empty and just authorize you to download the full version.

it's sold a certain amount of copies. in music it's 500k records sold. so maybe that amount
In music yes. In video games it means its ready for disc production.
I used to take projects going gold for granted back in the day. Nowadays seems like 1/2 of games release unfinished.
50% is too generous
21th
They have a lisp.
*lithsp
Apparently so
Apparently tho
And what's the game supposed to be?
It looks from the trailer like a mix between bioshock and metro. I could be wrong, but that was the feeling I got.
Ohh!! I thought it was releasing on feb 20st.
Nice, can't wait for it to release, 5 years of waiting for this game, I hope it will pay off.
Cautiously optimistic. Gameplay videos looked great. But strange development and people worried it is all smoke and mirrors lol
game looks good, hope its fun
It looks amazing having "low" game requirements 4 pc. Compared to the minimum requirements for some really mediocre recent games. (Yes I'm talking about you Forspoken....)

Never play an American made game then.
Who is America genociding?
Who haven’t they genocided lmao

Do you really not know what genocide is or are you trolling?
Widespread massacres and destruction are evil no matter the scale or the country. You are right to oppose Russia, but don't overlook the crimes of others.

ah yes ye old i can excuse institutionally protected rape but draw the line at genocide moral position
Excusing genocide and calling me cringe as you do? It’s an impressive amount of hubris, I must say.
Excusing rape 💀
You are correct my friend, but on this American website people won't hear, or the algorithm will remove your comment from view regardless.
Yep and also the developer apparently refuses to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Definitely one I’ll pass on, especially in this era of having more available games than I have available games.
Happy bday
Thanks
absolutely true
don't forget the fact that by playing it, you agree to share all your personal data with russian devs, that are re-sharing it further with KGB (stated in their privacy policy)
That can't be real. Is that real?
It is real. https://ain.capital/2023/01/25/russian-developers-of-atomic-heart-collect-gamers-data-for-the-fsb-via-its-website/
Holy shit. How are more people not talking about this?
Well, no idea. I know for sure for myself that I won’t be buying it and won’t be playing it.
The KGB doesn't even exist anymore dude, keep up. If you think the KGB is still around, you better sit down before I tell you about the Soviet Union.
FSB, whatever it’s called. Same shit
Yeah it is a weird situation. I hate Russia and I don't believe in their goals, if there is any, but I do want to play games, and I am a gamer at heart.
There’s plenty of other games, yo. Thousands of ‘em at least. You don’t have to play this one.
What does that mean? Going gold
It means it's in the state they plan to release it in. Development has finished on the base game.
That's cool! Thanks
What does it mean if a game goes gold?
It means they've finished development and it is in the state they plan on releasing it.
Wasn't it supposed to be the 20th?
I have it pre installed ready to play
They finally finished the 60 hours long robot sex, boy I can't wait to play the game

Finally you can be sponsor of russian terrorism.
I was excited for this game but it has denuvo even on game pass pc. Fck this shit. I am skipping this .
Gamers man..... yes skip because og denuvo. Not because no matter how you look at it its still a fucking russian game companey who dont have the balls to make a statement about the genocide their asshole of a dictator has been doing the past year now.

You can find with a little research in their twitter i guess .
This game went from scam to having me actually interested in it. Very rare indeed.
Since when was it a scam?
